So — this is my new go to on our way home from VT. Second time in a week! In addition to the wings, the steak tips have become a new staple. As have the nachos… mmmmmm.

Been here for lunch several times and always enjoyed the meal and experience. It’s a tavern style restaurant, so don’t expect a lot of private dining. I’ll keep going back. Prices reasonable for the area.

My boyfriend, myself and another couple went here on a Saturday night during a ski trip because of the reviews online and a recommendation from the hosts of the place we were staying at. They don’t take reservations so when we got there during peak service hour I wasn’t surprised that there was a wait. When we did eventually get seated, the service was less than desirable. While our waiter was really friendly, the service was extremely slow. A couple that came in after us were finished eatting and has paid their bill before we even received our appetizers. Speaking of which our appetizers came out with our meals so there was no room on our table meant for 2 seated with a party of 4. We also asked for straws for our drinks and it took the waiter nearly 15mins just to bring straws back though we ended up just walking up to the bar and grabbing them ourselves. Other than that the food was pretty good. I wasn’t a big fan of their house dressing or the drinks we had but the Tavern Chicken was delicious. Plus the ambiance of the dining room made up for the lack of service. Overall, it wasn’t a bad place to hit up for dinner but I wouldn’t go back.

Unilocal Fail! This was a disappointing meal. We were seated quickly in the back by the kitchen, not in the cute main dining area. It was clear from the second we walked in that we were going to be rushed — we arrived at 7:40 and apparently they stop serving at 8 pm on Sundays. I ordered a cheeseburger — they didn’t have American cheese or French fries — it came with potato chips. «Nothing fried» I was told… I don’t go out to eat much and I don’t fry food at home, so when I go out I sometimes like French fries. What kind of a tavern doesn’t have French fries??? The roll was tasteless as was the burger although it was cooked how I asked. They use Hunt’s ketchup which is unheard of in pubs in Boston — Only Heinz. My husband had Shepherd’s Pie which came with a salad. He thought it was good enough but nothing special. Kids had mac and cheese and baked chicken fingers which they said were average. We ordered French onion soup which they forgot to bring. We decided to skip dessert figuring we didn’t want further disappointment. Quite a disappointment — rarely does Unilocal disappoint me…

I love this place, from the food, to the charm of the restaurant to the servers, its just a fun place in a great college town. Have been going to PCs since back in 1991 and its the same place with the same great food. For this particular review, I had a caesar salad with grilled salmon. Delicious, served as expected without croutons, as I requested. Others in our party got items that had to be specially made and without certain ingredients. Everything came out correctly and delicious. Service was great even though they were packed. We waited about 45 minutes for our table, but as a party of 7 it isn’t surprising and gave us a chance to talk and reunite. Anyway, a visit to or near New London, NH must be a visit to Peter Christian’s Tavern. Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

My boyfriends family has a house up in Bradford and he insisted on taking me here when we visited(we live in Florida). It was so yummy! The pretzels with mustard to start were so good! And I do not like mustard! We got the nachos to start. YUMMY! They were cheesy and delicious! I picked off the olives and peppers(not my cup of tea) and they were still amazing! Then I got the Shepards Pie and a side caesar. The salad was great! I was surprised. The Shepards Pie was great too but I couldn’t finish. Too many nachos lol. My boyfriend got the hearty beef stew and he loved it!

No French fries. Cool decorations inside. Waitress was distracted and cold. Good home brewed root beer. Burger was nice and juicy. No ranch dressing. Mussels were fabulous. Fair price.

We decided to dine here on a Sunday evening whim. We didn’t get to make reservations, and expected a wait. They told us it would be about 20 minutes so we decided to sit on the outside porch. We admired the beautiful New England styled flower gardens surrounding Peter Christians for about 30 minutes before being called in. We ordered wine and beer as we looked over the menu. For starters we decided on a Cajun Shrimp Cocktail and Tomato Jalapeño Quiche. As we waited for that, and were deciding on our main course, our waitress brought out, their notorious honey mustard dip with pretzels. For our main course we ordered a Vegetarian Salad and Brazed Beef with Wild Mushroom Ravioli, with a bowl of Tomato Basil Soup on the side. Overall the food was amazing and cooked perfectly, our bill came to 74.67 and worth every cent! We weren’t rushed out of the restaurant, and really got to enjoy every bite. Not to mention the ambiance, every time I walk into Peter Christians I feel like I’m sitting at a pub that would be something out of The Lord of the Rings, ‘The Shire’ with its charming wood work and cozy little table nooks. We highly recommend this restaurant, they never disappoint!!! #CriticsForEats

I have been to Peter Christian’s Tavern several times, but this last visit was not the best. I usually have the French onion soup as an appetizer, and this time the soup was WAY too salty. Two other people eating dinner with me got the French onion soup as well and couldn’t even finish. The buffalo wings were not spicy, and didn’t taste like buffalo at all. The chili was flavorless, with soggy meat and even soggier beans. The spinach parmesan artichoke dip was amazing as always, but it was brought at the same time as the other appetizers, and I couldn’t enjoy it as much. The main courses were much better than the starters, and were enjoyed by all. The salmon with a side salad was very good, topped with a uniquely flavored lemon butter. The French dip sandwich was delicious, and the au jus was perfect(not too salty). I added grilled chicken to the Mediterranean salad, and the chicken was not charred at all. The nachos grande did not have any meat, but the melted cheese combined with the salsa made up for the lack of protein. The Cajun Bleu burger was a little light on both the cheese and the bacon, but the bun was nice and cooked exactly as ordered. The burgers came with a side of greasy chips and a flimsy quarter of a pickle. The bloody mary was large and flavorful, and it was a good deal at $ 6. It had a lot of ice and horseradish. Returning to this restaurant, I was expecting better quality food than what I received. I am not sure, but the chef may have changed from the winter, when I usually eat there. I hope that when I come back, the winter chef is back, along with good food.

The cheese and bread platter with meat is amongst best I have ever had. I drive up here from New York and make sure I get this every time. Their homemade Bloody Mary mix is not to be missed by anyone who enjoys a Bloody Mary.

This place of «victuals and strong waters» is a gem! My first visit here was 6 – 8 years ago, in autumn; food was delicious; atmosphere gorgeous, dark wood, old-style pub; and the wait staff were very kind and attentive to my aunt who at that time required the use of a somewhat cumbersome walker. This visit is at the beginning of summer, and I am even more impressed now than the first time. Carol and Lois took excellent care of me at the bar, recommending good local brews and bringing me my longed-for lobster roll with alacrity. I will be visiting in the area for ten days or so, I haven’t left the establishment yet, and I already look forward to returning in a few days!

Great place and has been since the 1970s. The chicken wings are baked, not deep fried and worth the trip. English pub standards are well done including the shepherds pie and beef stew. Homemade honey mustard and salad dressings complete the picture. We frequently stop here one our way skiing.

Passed through on our way to VT on St Patrick’s Day and really enjoyed this sweet pub! Great service and fun local vibe. We shared a wonderful meat and cheese platter and delicious holiday cocktails called Irish Twins. Cheers

I have been once while on a ski trip. My girlfriend and I went on a Friday night and the place was jamming. It is an old tavern so it is very cozy i.e. Tight quarters. The wait wasn’t too bad for two people 25 min. For starters we got muscles and French onion soup. The mussels were decent not too much broth, which is made out of Switchback beer. The French onion soup was very good. For dinner we got the chicken pot pie and the steak tips. Both were good, the steak tips were not cooked to my girlfriends request of medium rare, more medium well. The restaurant makes their own salad dressings, which are good, nothing too mind blowing. The honey mustard is also homemade and quite delicious. You can get it with pretzel sticks. This is a good place for American pub fare, there were plenty of families and couples alike. Give it a try.

I would just keep driving… It’s in the middle of no where when you are going from VT to MA. I’d just stay hungry for another 30 minutes in either direction. With all the reviews and the cute location, I thought we were on to something but UnilocalFAILEDME !!! I mean, I guess if I was here for a weekend on a lake or in school here I would think this place pretty good. But it definitely doesnt deserve the higher ratings I read — Maybe a 3.5 to 4 at best

This was a really memorable dinner during one of our last house hunting trips while settling in the New London area. Although the restaurant was almost full, I was seated almost immediately. Being by myself, I was asked if I wanted to sit at the bar for wait about five minutes for them to clear a table for me. I generally do not like to sit in bars, so I waited for the table, which took less than three minutes. I started the fair with a blueberry infused IPA which was outstanding, accompanied by the crabcake appetizers, followed by their made to order bison burger. This was exquisite. I didn’t have room for dessert, and the bison burger was large enough But I was not able to eat all the appetizer. However, my puppy Tango had an amazing breakfast the next morning. Overall, a super dinner, good service, and reasonably priced.

What a great tavern! It feels like the kind of place you could hang out for hours to escape the cold and enjoy the local autumnal ales. The food, including their signature sweet mustard sauce, is delicious. They had a special«harvest» burger when I was there that came with gouda, bacon, apples and mustard sauce that was simply amazing. Their crab cake sandwich is also pretty great, which is high praise coming from a Marylander. But what about the wait before your food arrives? Fear not — you’re immediately blessed with a bowl of pretzels and the aforementioned mustard sauce for dipping, along with an open box of mismatched Trivial Pursuit cards which seem to have been collected over the past three decades. Have at that! Although, since one of mine said there were no red M&M’s, perhaps take the answers with a grain of salt.
