Ok, stopped in this place for a good ol coffee and breakfast quesadilla. I’m just gonna put it out there… I don’t think Tommy C wears underwear. I saw his crack when he was restocking the baguettes– turned me off but I still ordered. Girl was not very smiley but my saturday morning cheer was enough for the two of us. Played the Adams family arcade game in the corner, nice touch– only 50 cents. They told me there was no ice coffee. All i wanted was a mocha large but i got a strawberry mango smoothie instead. It came out suspiciously fast, and barely resembled actual fruit. Quesadilla was hot. Salsa was complete s***. Rock candy game weak… I mean no cotton candy! REALLY??? Avocado on my friends *untoasted* bagel was kinda brown. Anyway… great place for a chat !!!

stop in this place sometimes when im in new paltz and its almost always a mistake if not a mediocre experience. some of the food has been very good like the chicken cutlets but what really grosses me out is that for some reason the cooks in the back are NEVER wearing gloves when theyre making the food. i mean really never?? just kind of grosses me out even the owner doesnt wear gloves, and they are touching all of the food and sandwiches and meat and veggies when they are preparing stuff. just makes me wonder if they are wearing gloves when they are working with raw meat or other stuff, makes me think what other kind of careless unsanitary food preparation they do like selling old food or dropping food on floor who knows?? like i said some of the food is pretty good but the place just looks dirty and unsanitary especially the bathroom is always disgusting and smells like rotten sewage no jokke, and based on the reviews i guess service isnt great either. .just waiting for this place to close down and put something good in there. i usually recomend friends to russos deli down the street. looks like they can atleast afford to stay open. will not be going back to this place again.

TERRIBLEEXPERIENCE! Right off the bat… The owner was not friendly. I took a minute to look over the menu… I am climber… So I was looking to take a sandwich to the crag for lunch. He asked me what I wanted to order… Now… how hard is a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and bacon??? He laughs and is like… I cant make that… I just opened… WTF does just opening have anything to do with making a sandwich?! Well pal… I guess u aren’t aware that you deli is located in a climbing community smartass. I walked out… I figured I would give your deli a try as we passed thru town… no business from me and I will pass along how rude the owner was to my friends… I WONTBEBACK! I almost said to the guy… u know I will go to the mountain deli… I know they just opened and guess what… they will be HAPPY to make my sandwich! This deli does not even deserve one STAR!

Do not recommend this place at all. Went there in morning could tell the guy did not want to be there. The customer ahead of me was going climbing for the day and ordered a lunch sandwich. The guy working said I’m not making that I jus opened. It was a chicken cutlet sandwich with barbecue sauce. He said everything is made to order he doesn’t have time to make it. There was no one else there. So she left. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg and pastrami. The pastrami tasted like the prepackaged stuff you get in a super market. The egg he went in and and took a minute to make so it wasn’t fried. Tasted microwaved. Not a good experience. Won’t go back.

I used to come here all the time a few years ago when I lived next door, the food is always consistent and delicious but I will find somewhere else for my breakfast sandwiches with nicer employees. not one employee was friendly or even had a good attitude.

Gosh, reading some reviews I have to question if there are more people who post who have axes to grind then those who want to share *balanced* opinions and *fair* reviews. Judging by the attitude and language of some of the harshest reviews I’ve seen posted for Tommy C’s Deli to me suggest a reviewer who is spoiled, immature, and/or has bad manners. . I am not an easy«mark». I will tell a place if I’m really dissatisfied with something and I’m not shy about sending food back to the kitchen in a restaurant. But I also feel it’s important to acknowledge good food or service with a compliment, not ONLY speak up or post when you’re unhappy. . Some of the critiques of Tommy’s seem fair &DO have some merit(e.g. drink pricing, sandwich dressings or sauces soaking into the paper wrapping, etc.) but … they are not serious issues or major flaws and are fixable. Hey, this is a small local deli /sandwich shop, not fine dining and it’s not the Carnegie Deli. . Service We were on the road and passing through and stopped to get some food to pack on our way to a day long hike. Person on duty(I believe her name is Alexandra) was very friendly and took the time to make suggestions of what would hold up well. Her suggestions were right on the mark. She agreed to put the mayo for one sandwich and the basil sauce for the other in separate containers on the side so the sandwiches wouldn’t get soggy. She even labeled the sandwich wrappers with our names. One last observation about service, we were in the deli a bit early(what many places would still consider breakfast time), and Tommy’s deli was both willing & prepared to fix us lunch selections for us to take with us. . Food As for the food, we found the ingredients to be fresh and of good-to-above average in quality. The bread(rolls & ciabatta) were fresh, crusty and of good quality. The sandwich special used heirloom tomatoes that were very tasty and imported cheese. To the reviewer who was unhappy that the meat wasn’t Boars Head, I say broaden your horizons, there are other brands that are also good. Both our sandwiches were good. In fact, the«special of the day» sandwich ended up being the highlight of our lunch. In addition to sandwiches, Tommy C’s had a small selection of fresh fruit that we chose from to include in our lunch. . In summary, what’s not to like ?? We got friendly accommodating service and tasty food made with good ingredients. I would heartily recommend Tommy C’s deli. .

After reading some of the other douchey reviews of this place I am giving them 4 stars. We had a dog in the car so couldn’t go sit down for a long table-service lunch in a full restaurant, but we didn’t want McDonalds. We had a great lunch at Tommy C’s deli. They bake all their own bread. Service was friendly and efficient. I had an heirloom tomato and mozzarella sandwich on toasted ciabatta that was delicious for $ 5. Mom had a slightly fancier specialty sandwich with meat on it for $ 6.95. She could only eat ½. Brought the rest in the car and the dog ate it during our next stop. The dog is so old it can barely move, but despite being deaf and blind it’s nose still works apparently and it wanted that sandwich and found it and devoured it, so that is a good endorsement also. Dad had a liverwurst sandwich on a roll for … I’m not kidding… only $ 4. I know, people still eat liverwurst ! I raised an eyebrow and kept my mouth shut. We split a good sized tub of potato salad($ 4) and 2 of the fancy gourmet sodas(you know the kind, $ 2.50 each) and the total for 3 people was about $ 26. There are a few tables inside and some picnic tables outside. The only thing I didn’t like was that they DO let you use the bathroom, but the door and door frame of the bathroom was not clean. This is my pet peeve. Note to Tommy C’s: if you clean the bathroom door and door frame and message me to let me know, I will delete that part of my review. The rest of the restaurant looked fine. I would eat there again.

Hmmm I wrote a very nice review about this place, it’s my favorite deli in town, but my review appears to be removed. The owners are very very friendly, accommodating and the breakfast is EXCELLENT! I’ve stopped at every deli possible and this place is my personal number one.

This place is the shittiest sandwich place you’ve ever seen, it’s worth coming in for the luxury of describing it’s misery later in life, or for a thing to make you feel better when you feel in the shithole, just remember this place and you’ll feel better. It’s pricey and not justified, shit service and attitude from this dude. This place is going down to hell in a bobsled.

I used to go to this place for breakfast while doing my laundry next door. I enjoy it more for breakfast then lunch/dinner. I did eat here this past weekend when passing through town. I have never had a meal I did not like here however the prices are less then fair. A sandwich costs $ 5-$ 9, a bag of chips $ 1-$ 2, and the drinks are the killer, at $ 2 a pop for standard 12−16oz bottles. By the time two people have a sandwich each, a drink each and share a bag of chips, you are looking at nearly $ 18-$ 20; not to mention sandwiches do not come with sides. The prices here are the major downfall in my opinion. I would eat here more often if sandwiches came with a side(coleslaw does not count as a side by the way) and the price of drinks went down. Even if they got fountain drinks but charged less, I think it would be better than $ 2 per bottle of soda. Good food, never had a complaint about service, just pricey for what you get.

Got a roast beef sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese which was quite good. Only downside is that if you add mustard and mayo, the sandwich paper will easily absorb it and the sauces will leak out, as it did in my backpack. So eat it quickly or ask for extra wrapping.

Mediocre at best. Sandwiches had far less meat on them than the standard at other delis, and they do not use Boar’s Head cold cuts. Try Jack’s down the block.
