This place is a quirky small town food place. It serves chilli, but I’ve never seen anyone order it before. It’s famous for its ice cream in the sense that it serves ice cream, not because it’s spectacular or original in any way. It’s has a wonderful patio for hot summer days for when you want your ice cream to melt all over your hand, you can order your ice cream with flavored dipped shells and googley eyes. Great addition for kids cones. There is a park right across the street for after you are done. They are always serving friend food. In pretty sure their kitchen consists of just a deep fryer. They serve deep fried fish sandwiches and really cheap burgers and deep fried cauliflower(which is delicious with ranch dip) fried Mac and cheese and fried pickles. I deep down love this place just because of how tightly knit it is into the community.

My family and I went to Dees last summer where we saw a woman smoking in the back. She then came up and tried to take our order. The problem was she didn’t wash her hands. I told her I forgot I was on a diet and left. This place is holds many fond memories for me since I grew up on that block. Used to play video games in the game room and even had my first kiss there. It has changed for the worse.

One of my all-time hometown favorites. I sometimes make my boyfriend drive 30 minutes out of the way to get a cone. Especially after Coney Island cuz it’s kind of close. What I always remember is you can walk into this place literally wearing anything and not be embarrassed. Walk up to the 1970’s counter(which has not changed one bit) and peek over to see an amazing display of different colored sprinkles! I go for the vanilla with a cherry diptop and you have to get EYES! They have little candy eyes that the owner will stick on for you and it makes everything in the world seem better. This place has a very special place in my heart and always will.

My parents own a house right up the hill from this place, so I’m extremely familiar with Dee’s. Familiar doesn’t mean I like it though. They serve Empress Chili, which as all Cincinnatians now is the cream de la crème of our style chili. Of course, they are a dairy bar and they are known for their soft serve. The food is nothing special, but hey, when I get a hankerin’ for fried mushrooms and cheese sticks, I know where to go! They always tend to come out with the weirdest things. For example, this summer they’ve been all over boiled peanuts. They literally have signs 10 miles out of New Richmond on 52 telling drivers how far their boiled peanuts are. I’ve never had them, so I couldn’t tell you if it’s worth the drive. But I’ll get back to that soon considering my dad will force me to buy some. All in all, it’s a decent place and your kids will love it. There’s a park right next to the place and a park across 52. I suggest taking your food to go and going across the street with the kids; the park is new, clean, has a nice area to eat in and is WAY more fun than the one next to Dee’s. Sometimes though, I just wish they’d stick to soft serve…

Dee’s Dairy Bar is a one stop shop for New Richmondians(is that what they call themselves)? While it is in fact a dairy bar, meaning they serve ice cream, they also serve plenty of regular food. Could they have been the originators of hot eats and cool treats? I’m not sure about that, but a selection of ice cream with some crazy toppings and coatings is available for those looking for dessert. Anyone who hasn’t had dinner can go ahead and grab a burger, or a hot dog, or their version of Cincinnati chili and coneys. Like I mentioned before, they’re only open 9 months of the year and then close for Winter so if you’re interested in checking it out, go ahead and do so now before it’s too late.
