So, the belt on my snow blower broke today, right in the middle of the first storm of 2016(we had about a foot of snow with more on the way). I called Car Quest in Larchmont, since it’s local and I like to support local businesses whenever I can. The owner answered the phone and told me that they were closing. I explained my situation, hoping for a bit of decency from another human being, but no luck. I was told that they are closing, that this is not their problem, and that they will absolutely not wait the five minutes it would take for me to get to the store. I begged, I pleaded, and I got nothing but a bad attitude for close to five minutes over the phone. I could have gotten to the store, bought the belt and been on my way before this phone call was over. I called Advance Auto in New Rochelle, they were also closing.. . but the employees there sympathized and agreed to stay open to help me get the belt I needed. They said, and I quote: «We’re closed, but it sounds like you’re having a bad day. If you can get here in the next ten or so minutes we’d be happy to help». I know it’s no one’s problem but my own.. . but, we do live in a society where there should be a certain level of decency towards your fellow man, and Advance Auto’s New Rochelle location displayed decency.. . for that I am grateful and will take my business there from this day forward. So long Car Quest, hello Advance Auto.
