One of the greatest restaurants! Anything I’ve eaten here has been wonderful, however the chicken tacos & burrito will forever be the greatest I’ve ever had! Be sure to leave room for dessert because there is always something amazing being served for dessert! Great to sit inside or outside and enjoy this great little beachside town!

This restaurant had a catchy name and to its credit it was enticing but for their menu. I for the hell of me could not understand what was going on here. Their«thing» was that they offered healthy entrée choices. Somebody ought to tell them that healthy is not synonymous with BLAND. Also, you would think that they would give you an average portion of fish in your dinner. I guess smaller means healthy to them. I suggest you skip dinner then that would be the healthiest option.

Everything was painfully mediocre. Came expecting a crowd and no one was here despite it being 7 on a Thursday night. Just save your money.

New ownership. The chef has been gone since first of March. No chef at all now, and a very feeble attempt by untrained kids to keep up his excellent culinary standards. Don’t waste your money.

These reviews have to be written by friends of this restaurant. There was only one other group when we came in for a late lunch, which seemed to be friends of the owners. The happy hour is only $ 1 off a draft beer(lame, it could have at least been half off, how much does a draft beer really cost them 0.50 max?!) and they tired not giving us this discount, until I asked about the happy hour. Service was very slow, especially since we were the only ones eating at the time. I got the shrimp tacos, the menu made it sound really appetizing but it was only 6 small shrimp with NO flavor, even though it was suppose to be cajun bacon. It was tasteless and it came with an extremely small portion of rice and beans that tasted as if it had been sitting around for days. To top it all off the shrimp taco dish itself was $ 14. I was expecting way more for the price, photos posted were showing a much larger portion of shrimp in these tacos. I do not recommend coming to The Hideout, very disappointing first visit!

Wonderful, unassuming little café with outdoor places. Don’t let the shopping plaza tuckaway location fool you: they’ve got a mean kitchen and great drinks on tap. Basically, keeping it real with sandwiches, seafood bites, fish tacos, seaweed salad, and an awesome burrito. Good beers on tap, including New Smyrna locals. Our server looked like a California skater and was super friendly and low-key. Great value for a group lunch – everyone was happy sitting out in the gentle spring sun with our grub.

Hemingway’s Hideout is a cute restaurant right off of Flagler in a little square with a fountain. There is limited seating inside, but nice shaded seating outside. We ordered the Cuban flatbread, burrito and poke tacos. The food fleas excellent with the poke taco as the standout. It has a great superfood slaw and seaweed salad that raised this taco to the next level. Just one note — not a great place for kids food wise as the choices are limited. Otherwise a great experience.

Do not recommend. Very bland. Food is presented as if it would be delicious. WRONG. It taste like a white teenagers attempted to make Mexican food. Also it is very small and I can here the workers singing and conversation… We asked the(what we believed to be the owner) how big the burrito is, he told us it was massive. WRONG again. Don’t waste ur money. Two good things: pretty clean. Good music.

The food was excellent and the owner and chef were very helpful. I have some food allergies and they custom made my meal. The bar was cozy and music was good!

fish sandwich was fresh, seasoned well and the black beans and rice were tasty. The kitchen was clean and open(bonus points to any restaurant that lets the customers watch their food prep). The staff was friendly, personable, and very concerned with how everyone was enjoying the food. The poke bowl walked past my nose, I’ll be getting this on my next visit.

The tuna poke was delicious and we loved the outdoor patio seating. Hubby had the flatbread which was packed full of ingredients, not skimpy! Yummy.

Hidden in small mall off Flagler St, this is a find for fresh fish. Two of us shared the fish tacos two different ways, Cajan Bacon and Penko(breaded). Both were wonderful, and can taste the sole(fish of the day) a bit better with Cajan Bacon style. One of us ordered the salad to replace the rice and beans and it was fantastic… several greens including kale, soy beans, tomatoes, bean sprouts, with balsamic vinegarette… very very good. The waiter was very good at explaining everything, and was polite, fun and attentive.

Visited the area for a quick weekend and decided to try this place out. We sat inside at the bar and were able to watch the kitchen work on the food which was an entertaining experience. The staff and chef were all very friendly and the food was delicious. We had the poke bowl as an appetizer which was probably my favorite dish of the night, super fresh and flavorful with just the right balance. We then had the burrito and the daily special which was a cajan dish with crawfish, shrimp, and sausage. The burrito was unlike anything I have had before and the seafood inside was something special. The daily special had just the right amount of heat and was also a winner. We finished up with the banana bread pudding and I wouldn’t care if eating that everyday made me a diabetic because it would be worth it. The only reason I can’t give this place 5 stars is not because of the food but because while watching the people in the kitchen work we noticed the employees touching their face and checking their phone while prepping the food without washing their hands between. They were also taking a dirty towel that was used to wipe down the work space to tidy up the dishes before they were served.

Its absolutely amazing and exciting that NSB has finally started to attract restaurants that embrace a more modern dining experience while continuing to incorporate Florida’s abundances of fresh seafood and culturally correct cuisine. With the opening of Hemingway’s Hideout Chef Ryan has definitely raised the bar, and has made a significant impact on this small beach-town in a very short time. Located only a few steps off of Flagler Avenue this small intimate restaurant has already grabbed the attention of the locals and proves it’s not that difficult to become a year around favorite and eliminates the reliances of the seasonal influx of snow birds and out of town beach goers to be successful. I’ve never understood how lousy service and mediocre food could be an acceptable practice which I believe has plagued this area for many years, as more of these stylistic restaurants open and some of the existing restaurants re-invent themselves to compete I find less reason to go outside our community to dine out. When a restaurant that has been open for only a short time has legendary references made about its food believe me people take notice. This restaurant’s small stature not only enhances the personal experience for the customer but also allows the Chef to create a variety of dishes that are pleasing to your entire sensorium. This is definitely a place you will want to try.

An adorable, quaint little place tucked back off the main drag. It’s small inside(a bar that seats 20 maybe? And 3 four person tables.) but there was a good amount of outdoor seating. We loved the atmosphere. You can watch ryan, the chef, work from the bar or your table which was really cool. He talked to us several times through out our meal. Everything is made to order and really fresh. I ordered the fish tacos. Best fish tacos I’ve EVER had. They had so much flavor! Ryan said he made one taco with one type of local fish and the other with another and wanted to know which fish I liked best! They were both incredible. My husband has a big appetite so the waitress recommended the HH burrito. My husband loved it and said he was stuffed after he ate it, which is rare at a restaurant for him. Because our meal was so good and fresh, we were really curious how good Ryan’s deserts would be. We ordered a banana bread pudding to split. There are no words for how good it was. We literally watched Ryan whip the cream by hand! Amazing!!! Hemingway’s hideout is outstanding. Go here! You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to go back.

I had high expectations after reading the reviews. There are three high top tables and bar inside. There are many regular tables outside but no fans. There are two workers… server and chef(co owner). It is relaxed service and not rushed. I had the Cajun bacon mahi(fish of day) tacos. Fish was good and mild flavored… I didn’t taste the Cajun at all. All I tasted was the cabbage slaw in the taco. You get a choice of flour or corn tortilla. It’s served with black beans and sticky white rice. Beans didn’t have much flavor. The burrito had a spice to eat, but contained a lot of rice! The Banana bread pudding is a MUST! It is topped with homemade whip cream… The best I’ve ever had! This dessert is very good for $ 8. It is served warm. Overall, service was ok. We had to ask for drink refills. Food took about 15 minutes. Parking on the street and NOT behind restaurant. Small menu. They have beer on tap and get their ice tea from shop across the courtyard. I will rush back for bread pudding, but not for the meals.
