Sorry to say, I had high hopes for this place. This place is NOT clean! Help desk was unique, kept saying if they said what was on their mind they’d be fired. Drains in showers drain real slow. In the morning while checking out, female manager threatened to withhold pay checks and was tacky and rude while making fun and threatening co-workers. Employees stand outside by entrance smoking, so you have to walk through smoke. Guess I’ll never come again!

Pleasantly surprised by this Econolodge. In a rural, small town, I came across this motel for an inexpensive stay. I was actually impressed with the value here. Nothing was compromised. The room was very clean and came with an array of amenities. A fridge(with a freezer), microwave, hair dryer and coffee maker, to name a few. The king size bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was full of variety too. They even had a large dispenser of ice water, which was a plus for me. Considering this was the lowest price in the entire area, I definitely recommend staying here.

First let me say, there is only one Econo Lodge in New Ulm but two listed here on Unilocal. There is no sign on the building for the current existing one. I added a review at the other Econo Lodge New Ulm but will also add it here. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. Having said that, a few things that you should know before you book … there is no elevator and the hotel is a split building. The first floor rooms are about 6 steps down from the lobby though there is a ramp to get to these rooms. The second floor rooms are up a flight of about 12 steps and the third floor rooms are up two flights of about 12 steps each. First floor rooms are the only ones that are wheelchair/walker/stroller accessible. Also, finding the hotel can be a little tough as there are no signs on the building itself — only the one tall sign in the front corner of the parking lot that is nowhere near the building. GPS routed us to come in from behind the hotel so it was a guess as to if it were the correct hotel. It is a former Super 8 and they never put any signs or new name on the building. The lobby has a very tired couch and a table, with a small computer desk and a computer. Even the brochure rack was nearly empty. The front desk is low but it means that the front desk computers are on strangely homemade platforms and boxes to allow the front desk staff to use them. What would have been nice looks very cheap. The room I had was 2 full beds. These are full not queen. The beds are worn and the pillows are super soft and lumpy. The mos uncomfortable night ‘s sleep at a hotel that I have had. But the air conditioner worked well and the room was quiet and clean. There was a mini-fridge, a microwave, a mini-coffee maker, a hair dryer, a small flat screen TV, a desk and a short dresser. The bathroom had 3 sets of towels, When the maid restocked towels, it looked like she restocked with all bath towels and only after digging through the whole pile did we find hand towels and wash cloths on the bottom of the pile. By now you have probably guessed that the décor was severely dated. The bathrooms were dim and you could see old damage through the new paint. The«breakfast» was actually one of the worst of the free continental breakfasts that I have seen and there were only 3 small tables with mismatched banquet chairs. We used these tables to play at in the evening since there was no extra space in our room. The staff was great about it!

Horrible experience while on vacation! During booking requested a non smoking room due to asthma and upon arrival get a smoking room. Advised the front desk about this request and they said they can’t do anything about it that because it was booked on line they can’t guarantee anything booked online. She also stated don’t worry because I was just in the room and it doesn’t smell too bad. Apparently knows nothing about asthma! When I got to the room the room stunk! I don’t think the housekeepers knew what a vacuum was! One morning I had gone down for breakfast with my 2 kids ages 3,5 at 9:01 and apparently they close it up at 9:00 the lady that was closing down hide because she knew I wanted to get food for the kids. No where was it posted the time of the breakfast and normal hotels goes until at least 930. The second day we went down for breakfast and all a person could here about was the housekeeper loudly speaking«if you didn’t come in I would have quit» very unprofessional! They obviously don’t have pride in their work and it needs to be addressed by management! I will never stay here again and recommend others not to waste their money.

I’m okay with choice hotels. I have stayed in really nice choice hotels and I have stayed in dumpy ones. The wifi is incredibly fast, reliable and free! Great to know for those traveling. The rooms are clean and fairly good size. Beds are comfortable and also good size. Check-in was fast and easy and staff was really nice. Restaurants are fairly close so it would be easy going to any of your favorite places. After dealing with Motel 6’s this Econo lodge is really nice. I don’t think I have anything bad to say accept there are people who look in your cars here. There are also construction workers who stay periodically so be wary when signing in and getting stuff in the hotel. This is an indoor facility and not an outdoor one. Those are the only things wrong with this particular hotel and I was hoping for reviews on this hotel but turns out, I’m the first one leaving one. I will give this a hotel 3 stars because giving 5 is just too generous and I really don’t know much about this hotel at all. I would recommend this hotel for weary travelers. It’s really quiet here. So far.
