5 Star Cleaning

5 star cleaning should contemplate changing its actual name to 1 star cleaning as the customer would not be fooled by its cleaning abilities. If you are interested in a partially cleaned apartment despite paying full price for cleaning services, then this is the right cleaning service for you!

This company is a CON! I bought a Groupon from them and after 2 months of calling and emailing and getting NO response– I had to request a refund from Groupon. I left several messages and no one ever returned my calls. Obviously, based on other reviews– this horrible company is just a cover to steal your money. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!

To Fernando: First of all I do not nor have I ever had a roommate named Simon. I am not continuing this conversation. I’m not from out of town, you have it wrong, you always have. You HAVE to see the problem with your company if there were ALL negative reviews, if EVERYONE has the same problem then I suggest you PLEASE look within your company instead of letting the reviews eat you up inside and responding to every single one a year later with ridiculous excuses. I have made exactly 2 reviews on Unilocal,I don’t go around cyber bullying, my situation was handled ABSOLUTELY poorly, it was a waste of TIME — meaning that on 5 different occasions, someone in my household was required to stay in and wait for a person who never arrived. You have never apologized, never did the right thing, only responded like a petulant child. Please finally do the right thing and leave me alone.

No stars. Bought of GROUPON. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. All sorts of hidden charges. The raspy throated woman was so rude and pushy, told me it was gonna be an additional 44.95 for tip and tax and then $ 23.00 more because I had dogs. She then cancelled my appointment because she didnt like the fact that I questioned the contract. Im glad they didnt come here. Sound like thieves. Stay away from this family run business, the sons do the cleaning and the mother bosses everyone around. They make you fill out a freaking application prior to making an appointment and they only come to my area once a week. There 35 minutes I’ll never get back

I bought a groupon for their service and had a horrible time making an appointment. After a while, I finally got through to them and the woman said that their contract with groupon had expired and that I can get my money back from groupon and that they would honor the price of the groupon for a house cleaning. I said ok if I was able to get back my money from groupon.
We made an appointment for 4pm on 1÷5÷13 and she told me there would be a $ 45 gratuity that was non-​negotiable. I told her she never said this and she said she told me. Next, she told me they had their contract with groupon again and that I can use the groupon and just pay the guy $ 45. I reluctantly said yes.
So the guy is over an hour late and I called the woman and told them not to come and that the guy finishing by 8pm was unrealistic. We had spoken several times during the day and she promised me he would be here. When I told her that I would refuse service and not let him in if their guy came she started telling me how rude I was.
SKETCHY COMPANY!!! PLEASE STAY AWAY!

I’m more than furious with this thief!!! I too bought the Living Social deal and got totally screwed. After a difficult time getting an appointment, the guy came to my apartment and as instructed, picked up my keys from the doorman. He did not, however, return them to the doorman as instructed and took the keys off the premises without my authorization. I had told him to call me if there were any issues, and I had to call him to confirm that everything went fine. When I got home and realized the keys weren’t there, he lied and said the doorman had left for the night. I caught him in a string of lies, including the doorman one bc my doorman is on duty until midnight and this guy said he finished my cleaning at 12:15 pm. I have some of his lies in writing via text, but he also lied over the phone.
A month and a half later, he has promised several times to return them but never did. After several unsuccessful attempts, I told him that if he didn’t return the keys by a certain date and time, he would need to pay for a new lock. He got belligerent and basically started a text war with me, insisting that I make an appointment to pick up the keys that he stole from me and sign a statement saying that I had picked up the keys. I told him I’d see him in court. This guy is a consistent liar, and as for the «cleaning» the only thing he «cleaned» was the tip I had left behind for him.
$ 200+ and a police report later, I had to replace my lock with an ultra-​safe Medeco, because there is no doubt in my mind that this dirtbag could have easily copied and retained a set of my keys even if he had returned the originals (or if I had had picked them up from him, which was never going to happen, because why would I go pick up my own stolen property and basically sign a waiver saying «it’s cool that you stole my keys»).
As with others on this board, I received a full refund from Living Social and will patronize them again, but will yell from the mountaintops a sincere warning about this untrustworthy scumbag thief from Five Star Cleaning.

I, like everyone else on this board, have had a terrible experience with this company. I purchased the Livingsocial deal for this company in September. I tried to schedule an appointment online three weeks before my requested date. I received no word from this company whether they would be able to schedule the appointment or not, nothing. The date came and went with no word. I called the 800 number and relayed my frustration with someone who claimed they would «escalate» my appointment request for a new date. That date came and went with no word from the company again. I tried one last time to schedule an appointment online and, again, that date came and went with no word from 5 Star Cleaning. I wrote an email to their customer service email address expressing my frustration and stated that this was no way to run a business. If you cannot fulfill the appointment request, you should at least have the curtsy to tell me that. I would have been fine with that. In fact, I would have been happy. At least I would have been getting some sort of communication. I would have just re-​scheduled the appointment. Instead I was ignored, as were many customers it sounds like.
Livingsocial was kind enough to give me a full refund and a small credit for my troubles. I will absolutely use Livingsocial again, but I cannot recommend 5 Star Cleaning to anyone.

I’ve had the same problems as listed by other complaints here on Unilocal as I also had a living social deal.
— Couldn’t schedule an appointment online, as the system was broken.
— Called and made an appointment, but it did take several tries before I was able to speak to someone and confirm an appointment
— No one came at the scheduled time
— Called to ask about the service, but received answering machine and no one called me back
— Very rude consumer service
I personally have not received a free service even with the issues stated above.
I have even called Living Social or a refund, since the promotion that I’ve purchased from their site is impossible to redeem. However, they are not willing to give a refund and refer me to there refund policy.

Just like the previous post… bought the voucher because it was a good deal… filled out all the requisite forms online, and filled out an appointment request for last weekend… did it about 2 weeks in advance… the weekend went by with no call back or confirmation. Left a voicemail last week… no response… I just called them right now and using the automated system pressed 2 to confirm an existing appointment… music hold for 15 minutes… I may give up on these guys… perhaps time to call living social and ask for a refund?

It has now been 1 month since my last review and I hate to report that I have yet to get a second appointment since my last cleaning in early August.

They DO have a new phone system (that is supposedly staffed 24 hours). I spoke with someone two weeks ago and was on the phone for 15 minutes giving all of my information. I was told someone would call me back within 24 hours to set up an appointment. I never received a call.
I just called the same number about 5 minutes ago… this 24-​hour phone service sent me to a voicemail after putting me on hold for 3 minutes.
I have 3 of these cleanings left on my Living Social voucher… and, apparently, they are giving away one free cleaning to each person who has had issues with getting an appointment. So, I have to go through this personal hell 4 more times to get my money’s worth…
I bought this voucher in JULY… I’ve had one apartment cleaning since then.

I wish a could give them no stars because they have the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. Do not use this company no matter what kind of deal you get from them. I bought the Living Social deal and have tried for 2 weeks to contact someone for an appointment. I spoke to someone live once and all they did was take down my information and said someone would call me back. Well, a week later and I didn’t receive a single phone call or email. I have tried to schedule 3 different appointments well in advance and never received a single response from the company. Do they even exist?

Bought a living social voucher and tried to schedule an appointment on their website. THIS COMPANY HAS TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! They will not confirm your appointment! You can call and speak to someone and they will say they forward your request to someone else and will call you back. I’ve called 5 times to confirm and no calls back. They probably use an outsourced call center that is just a front. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!

Except they really get no stars. This business is a scam. They take you money and never show up! Then when you start calling they never return calls and then eventually change the phone #!!

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. There will NOT be a third time I try with this company. I was stood up twice, and will be reporting to the BBB. I will also fight with either Living Social or my credit card to get my money back from this «company», which is more like a scam.

Had a huge mess from a previous tenant, the cleaning service was prompt and punctual and very organized well mannered brought there own supplies and was very fast!

I, too, purchased the 5 Star Cleaning cleaning voucher through LivingSocial have been VERY dissatisfied with their service. I originally first tried to schedule my house cleaning at the end of June, but when they called to confirm the day before, the person that originally took my information had «entered my address in incorrectly» and I was told that they would not be able to come clean my house on the scheduled date and time after all because they would «not be in my area.» We rescheduled. Then, the day before my next appointment, I got a call and was told that the driver had suffered a car accident (horrible, mind you) and as they were down one vehicle, they were unable to clean my house (I’m also reading through other reviews and seeing that the owner is also telling people there was a «death in the family» ??? Just admit you can’t meet demand. Why lie?). We rescheduled for July 11 from 8:00 — 11:00 a.m. 11:45 a.m. finally rolled around on my third rescheduled cleaning date, so I tried calling the service, but got no answer. I finally got in touch with the driver, and he informed me that the business owner is on vacation all week and he and his crew got «held up.» We rescheduled for 5:00 — 9:00 p.m. on July 15. On that Sunday, 9:05 p.m. rolls around and I get a call from the driver saying that someone in my apartment «wouldn’t let him in,» so he couldn’t clean. Alas, I was home all evening, so I know this wasn’t the case. Unless my apartment building now has a female bouncer of which I know nothing about. Granted, it was 9:00 p.m. — four hours later than his confirmed cleaning time — on a work night. No time to start a cleaning. I have been calling and leaving rescheduling messages for the past 48 hours. I’ve gotten no return phone call from anyone. STAY AWAY!

Like Dana M.‘s post, i had the same frustrating experience. I scheduled my appointment a week and a half out (first available) and I took the day off. They were to show between 12 and 4 pm and even though I confirmed AGAIN the day of the appointment no one showed up by 4 pm. I called at 4:45 pm (giving them time if running late) and the lady who answered was not able to provide any info. She promised that the dispatch person would call me back so i knew if they were coming. NO RETURN calls. I called the next morning to see if they were rescheduling and I could get no one on the phone. I received the «we are experiencing high volume» message. I left several messages with no returned calls. Avoid this place like the plague. I had purchased the cleaning through Living Social and thankfully they were able to refund my money.

I bought this deal on living social and the next day, I am trying to schedule an appointment for the month of July. I am very flexible. When I called, the lady is very rude and told me EVERYTHING is booked for month of July AND August. Are you serious?! I wonder if she told me that because I am using a discounted rate from living social, I bet if I call her and pay her full price she would have an appointment for me. I was thinking just try them if they are good then I will keep them as my regular cleaning service, I guess it is not going to happen!!!

I would have loved to leave a review on this company’s service but no such luck. After scheduling an appointment and taking time off from work to be home for the service, NO ONE SHOWED UP. After about seven calls to the company, I was told that all services for today were canceled due to an emergency. That’s fine — things happen. However, it’s absolutely disgusting that these people would not leave any calls or messages to their clients. I skipped extending my 4^th of July holiday to be home for this and it was all for nothing. The people I spoke to on the phone were completely unapologetic and I’m furious that I missed a day off of work when a quick phone call would have avoided all of this.
