I came here for a Unilocal event and we had the pleasure of sampling several different new ice cream flavors that fellow Unilocalers designed. My favorite ice cream was the«Am I Nutty enough.» A few of the other ice creams were peanut butter based which I didn’t like. The store is small but quaint. The cool owners also introduced us to one of their sandwich melts, I forgot the name but I do remember it tasted heavenly. The bread was soft and warm and it blended well with the meat, pesto and cheese. I had a few samples and I was so full. Lol. I’m coming back just to try some of their other melts and top it off with some form of frozen chocolate based concoction. yummy.

Ever since reading about this Wisconsin place opening up, I wanted to come here. Cheese tastes completely different in Wisconsin than other states. We didn’t get one of the delicious looking sandwiches. Only ice cream. The custard was pretty good. Not excellent, but good. Very creamy consistency, but the vanilla was a bit too sweet. Liked the chocolate flavor better. Prices seemed high since the cup portion turned out to be way too small. Service was very friendly. Would return to try one of the cheese melts!

Dairy overload! If you hate lactose intolerant people, bring them here and order some of this ridiculousness. It’s egregious how much cheese/cream they have going on here. Only one person working here in the afternoon, which is fine because I was the only one there. Ordered the 5 Oz. Reloaded Melt($ 9ish) and the Chocolate and Peanut Butter Muddle($ 7ish). Love the big slices of bread for the sandwich, really keeps the meal intact despite the ingredients busting out the sides. Cheese melted perfectly with the bread, ham was only okay, devoured pretty fast. The muddle on the other hand was a beast. Chocolate, peanut butter, reese’s, and whipped cream. The monstrosity was more than one of those Ben & Jerry’s pints you pick up at the deli when you hate your life. This is something to SHARE with. I tried to finish it and failed, close though. Great comfort store if you wanna waddle in and out pretty fast. Prices are decent, especially if you share(and you should). Wanna do the cheese curds next.

Sign me up ALLDAYLONG. Love this place and would recommend to ANYONE! Custard is to die for. I prefer caramel + butterfinger bits. Grilled cheese is on point as well.

Decided to come here for lunch with some friends in town visiting. This place was recommended to me by one of my roommates, and it was a good suggestion! We all agreed and loved our respective sandwiches. I had gotten the short and sweet, which was really good. I also tried the buffalo state of mind. I think my pick would be for the short and sweet. The bread was perfect for me, and there was so much meat between the two thick slices of bread. Some would say that the bread would be too much, but it is off-set by the amount of meat in the middle. The buffalo one was a bit too cheesy for my taste with harder bread, but it’s all personal preference. Overall, both really good. We were all content and agreed it was a good choice. And the cashier was super nice! Hate going to places with people who aren’t friendly. Would come back again! — esp. to try the custard because I heard that’s awesome as well. P. S. — Portions are sharable — they cut the sandwiches in half so you can split sandwiches among people like we did!

This place was empty on a weekday afternoon during lunch. BF and I came here with a HowAboutWe«date» — 2 sandwiches, a soup or salad, and a large custard with 2 toppings to share. He ordered Smokey and the Meatball — smoked provolone, smoked gouda, mascarpone, tomato basil jack, beef meatballs, housemade basil pesto. This is a LOT of meatball, so good for you if you like meat. I was hoping for more of a tomato based sauce, and noticed that tomatoes weren’t even an ingredient in the list. Oops. Meatballs are tender and juicy. I liked this more than what I ordered. I ordered Short and Sweet — horseradish chive havarti swiss sprecher’s black Bavarian beer beef short ribs, fresh mushrooms, cornichons on brioche. This was sooooooooooo soggy I had to eat it with a knife and fork and discarded the bottom halves of the bread. The meat was good but a little too sweet in my opinion. Everything was so soggy and greasy, it was hard to enjoy. Their alphabet noodle soup is something like Spaghetti O’s. I wouldn’t really pay for this, but it would probably go well with a grilled cheese. Large custard — huge! We got half caramel and half vanilla. Hated the caramel — tasted like artificial flavoring. Loved the vanilla, as it had bits of vanilla bean and was delicious. Got strawberries and birthday cake for toppings — LOVE the birthday cake. Sprecher’s soda — expensive, but delicious root beer. I couldn’t help but watch the employees… it seemed like the manager was very micromanag-y and the other employees just didn’t want to be there. Also found it kind of ghetto that they butter their racks of bread in the dining area. Just a really weird vibe overall…

SOLID sandwich shop for HOT melty sandwiches NOT quite grilled cheeses DINE-IN. trust me you’ll want to eat these babies fresh out of the oven… i dined-in and by the time I got to the other half of my sandwich, the bread was already getting soft –5 oz melt reloaded: YUM! the thick buttery brioche was a perfect vehicle for the ton of cheddar & ham –buffalo state of mind: i liked the spice from the sauce. not bad on a baguette thinking about getting dessert? i’d pass on the frozen custard unless you’re just getting a sample. i’ve had better frozen custard at Rita’s and for a cheaper price! one gripe: overall this place is pretty pricey for a casual sandwich shop

After our mini-food tour of the Village, we decided to stop in 5oz for some dessert(way too stuffed for the savories) and got a plain vanilla frozen custard. WOAH this is what frozen custard tastes like?(a texture richer than soft served ice cream but without the gut-busting guilt factor or aftertaste). No need for toppings, it was fantastic on its own. Definitely worth re-visiting for more frozen custard and finally try the grilled cheese.

Yay for Midwest custard making it to NYC! So creamy and dense and delicious. Mmmmmm. Can’t wait to come back here and try all the sandwiches — especially the grilled cheese! As a total bonus score: they have their own version of alphabet spaghetti O’s. How amazing is that? I am a super fan if this place.

I’ve walked by their location on the way to my once-a-week office many a time, but it’s actually their fairly far-reaching delivery service that I’ve tried, plus a wee bit on Unilocal’s Holiday Hangover on the Hornblower Hybrid this year. I’ve ordered the Figgy and Piggy Went to the City, as well as the 5 Oz. Melt Reloaded. Both were delicious and traveled surprisingly well from the West Village to the Lower East Side. I also got the Birthday Cake Moozy Muddle both times and failed to finish it, but it keeps very well in the freezer. I tried their vanilla and caramel ice cream offerings on the Hybrid and was pleased with both, even with the cold temperatures outside. I really want to make it into the shop on a weekend to try their cheese curds and have my meat/cheese/bread creations be even hotter(but again, i’m so pleasantly surprised with how well their delivery holds up. Cold items arrived cold, hot items were still melty).

Came here after having a few drinks at the bar across street. I had a craving of some cold dessert in a cold winter night. :Ambiance: I think this is the late night go-to spot for the delivery guys. There were plenty of tables and seats. :Food: Love the peanut butter frozen custard and the caramel custard combination. It was topped with some kind of cow(? it was black and white) gummy candy, which was pretty cute. :) Sweet, creamy and fluffy. The From WI to NY bratwurst was good too. i have never had something like that. It’s a bratwurst with sauerkraut, mustard, and cheddar on a french baguette. It was crunchy, salty, and spicy. :Service: The staff were very nice and friendly. I would like to visit this place again and try the other items.

Came here for a late snack. Got the sandwich called«From WI to NY with LOVE,» which is a really long name for a glorified hot dog. It was quite delicious, with all that cheddar and the tender bratwurst. It went down so easily, I could’ve easily had another one. My wife got a frozen custard, which was rich and creamy, as expected. I’d like to come back to try their breakfast menu.

Given that I can’t eat dairy anymore… I still love this place. It’s really cute inside with wooden tables and white chairs. It has that feel of a home-made ice cream type place that is a bit more well-designed(nice logo, well laid out interior, clean+simple design). Makes sense since they are coming from Wisconsin. The Moozy Muddles!!! They pack so much stuff into them, and the combinations are delicious. We got the special apple with graham crackers, caramel(and some other stuff) one since it was their fall special. They said that not that many people got it and dunno why because it was really f-ing good. Glad to see they have gluten free options for the sandwiches too. Service was good — the employees are really nice and helped us choose!

We went to 5 oz factory just days(or hours?) after they had revamped(and shortened) their menu. I wasn’t overly impressed by the sandwiches we ordered, which seemed a bit overpriced. The ingredients were quality but the portion(for the GF sandwich) was really small. The frozen custard was great but I wish they had GF versions of their concretes. All in all, I’d probably go back if I were in the area but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Wisconsin cheese and milk comes to New York City! With a party of three, including one young child, we indulge on two 5 oz. Portion at $ 4.75 each. I choose the Vanilla Bean ice cream, which low and behold, to my utmost surprise customers need to purchase individual toppings at $ 0.75 each. I choose my favorite– fresh strawberries. The ice cream is very fresh and very rich as American diary is heavy, but the quality is very good compared with store bought mass produced and processed ice cream. Attention: Lactose intolerance avoid 5oz Factory at will as it will upset your digestive system! 5 oz Factory’s atmosphere is clean and warm but it was stifling hot as the oven was baking cheese for sandwiches. I was baking from the intense heat as it was a cool 67° F temperature outside. Staff is warmly friendly and attentive to serve customers when responding to inquiries with sincerity. I would surely return to try their sandwiches as I love Brie cheese, Brioche bread, fresh Basil, and smoked ham either individually or jointly together. A takeout menu is available which is now added to my increasing collection of restaurant business cards. A single facility is available with an access code only.

Delicious yet pricey. Pricey and tiny. Let’s put it this way: for the price of these sandwiches, you could have a monster sandwich from Faicco’s. But very delicious aside from the value factor. The quality is top notch. And the custard, Lord Almighty get the custard! I’ve had the tri-color sandwich two times now and I really dig their pesto. The sandwich does look like it fits the size for a kid’s meal, but I have topped it off with a moozy muddle each time, trying the snack attack and the chocolate malted salted caramel. They are rich, thick and filling… need I say more? I can’t comment about the atmosphere because I ordered through seamless both times, but I will be ordering again when I have a major hankering for dairy.

Seamless weekend delivery We ordered one from«Custard», the menu says«Thick Hand-crafted Concretes», and two from Melts. Those well greased, like a good hamburger, sandwiches with a thick-cut Brioche were with unique combinations. One of the sandwiches had crunchy sugar directly onto inside the sandwich and actually, I enjoyed grinding into it. It reminded of a peanut butter with sugar on toast. — Fig & Pig($ 11.50) — I thought fig preserves in my sandwich were caramelized onion. Its sweetness was bit too much for me. The thick cut brie and crunchy textured prosciutto balanced off well. The very thick cut brioche was exciting, but my hubby thought the thickness of the sandwich was too thick to enjoy as a sandwich. — Short & Sweet($ 13.25) — Okay…this sandwich had sliced leeks. I like leeks, but my leeks were not well soaked in a water. If you have used a fresh leek before, you know that nasty sand easily staying between leaves and onto foods. Sadly, that is exactly what I got. I couldn’t enjoy this sandwich. *Please 5oz F. make sure to rinse very well! Because of it, my experience was 4 star but my memory of this sandwich was uneatable and I felt it was waist and made not wanting to come back to try other things, although it has many other interesting Americana choices. — Choco Salted Mudd($ 7.25) — Thick and rich icecreamy texture of chocolate custard and gooey salted caramel made this very appealing. A touch of surprise, craggy salty gave me… yummmm… but overall, it was too rich for me. My hubby wishs it was more simple. — My Thoughts — There are many alluring new Americana sandwiches to choose from. From those two sandwiches I had, I thought adding some acidity would help, pickled red onion(Escabeche De Cebolla) or savory cucumber pickles. Their sandwiches were big and filling, very shareable.

5 stars for 5 oz. where you can happily and easily gain 5 lbs. I knew I had to come try this place immediately when I heard of the delicious combo they’re selling: melts and custard. Happily, it did not disappoint. I’m all about sweets, but it’s the delicious melts that are the really great thing about this place. I tried two: the Buffalo State of Mind($ 11.75) and the Short & Sweet($ 13.25). That sounds like a lot for a sandwich, but they were both more than worth it. The super buttery brioche bread was amazing, combined with the melty cheese and juicy beef short rib. So overwhelming, but so good. The Buffalo one was also great — this one was served on a trencher, which is kind of like a hero roll and is way less overwhelming than the brioche bread. It was nice and spicy and there was plenty of funky blue cheese, so it was really like eating buffalo wings in sandwich form. I really wanted to try some custard straight up, but I was getting this to go so I figured a concrete would be more appropriate to go with the sandwiches. We tried the Snack Attack Concrete($ 7.25), which consists of vanilla custard, peanut butter, Ghirardelli chocolate syrup swirl, strawberries, bananas and chocolate covered pretzels. That is a log going on. They thankfully give it to you with both a straw and a spoon, since you definitely need a spoon to get it through it at first as it so incredibly thick. This is an incredibly delicious shake. Again, it feels a little pricy, but you won’t really complain once you taste how good it is. I will definitely be back to try some more of those excellent melts and to give some custard a try next time. The staff is also super sweet, as if they came here directly from Wisconsin and didn’t actually live in New York. Come here for the ultimate satisfaction in both sweet and savory.

Moo. Midwestern custard and muddles… no memories from my Brooklyn childhood, but I do remember a custard spot in Grand Central, I used to be fond of… Chocolate, malted salted caramel muddle $ 7.25 with housemade whipped cream, fleur de sal and housemade caramel is FREAKIN” Orgasmic and right on 8th St. Rock on… My new favorite is chocolate & caramel custard with hot fudge, caramel sauce & fleur de sel-love the rich, milky goodness of this All American treat.
