This place is awesome. My friend suggested this place for happy hour after reading great reviews. When I got there, my friend had already put in our name for a seat at the bar. The scene was lively and red. I loved the lights and the dim red lighting. By the time I arrived, we were seated within five minutes. The cheese ball is to die for, and they keep the bread coming. I also had the toast topped with cured meat. It was delicious. The bartender was charming and attentive. An overall great time, and I can’t wait to go back.

Love this place. We had a friend come from out of town and took her here. The 3 of us ordered escargot, goat cheese balls, lobster risotto, duck leg, and filet mignon. All excellent and highly recommended. I also like that they give you a generous amount of wine in their large wine glasses if you order by the glass. Service is attentive and friendly. Ambiance is excellent. I think it’s a good place to take someone on a date.

Very busy spot in the Greenwich Village, so make a reservation, especially during their 4 – 7 happy hour. Their specials include flights of three wines for $ 12, and you get to choose any wine by the glass on their menu. Benjamin did a great job helping us select 6 different reds, which were all very good. Impressing. Both the escargots and the goat cheese over caramelized onions were on the happy hour menu(for $ 6 each), and were very tasty. The duck confit was absolutely delicious, although the bed of veggies underneath should have been warmer. The meat was tender and very flavorful. Their crème brûlée with caramelized bananas was different than most others, and therefore more interesting. Overall, we had a great time. Benjamin was beyond patient and helpful, and although the restaurant is loud, after 7:30−8 it gets more quiet. So… get here before the happy hour, but not so early that you’ll be overwhelmed with the crowd throughout your entire meal. Although dishes don’t come out cheap, portions of the entrees are generous. I can’t wait to go back to taste more dishes.

Pretty solid place with some kinks but overall I’d come back. We came on a Saturday night, the space is tight so make sure you arrive at your reservation time otherwise you will be in the way of someone and everyone. We were about 5 minutes early and there’s just no place to stand. We were seated and they gave us a bit extra room because we had 5. The place was rocking so our waiter came over and just immediately asked us what we wanted to order, drinks, food, etc. While the servers, hosts, server assistants are all friendly they are all running around pretty frantic and everything feels a bit rushed. The flights of wine are pretty decent sized pours and a good price even when it’s not happy hour. We really didn’t get any offer of different wines to try or advice for what we ordered which is a bit disappointing for a wine bar. Again very rushed. I ordered the pistachio goat cheese ball for an app and it was delicious! A buddy got the dates wrapped in bacon with bleu cheese, also delicious! They keep a stead flow of bread coming in burlap sacks too. I ordered the pork chop and it was delicious, the mashed potatoes were just kinda regular old garlic mashed but still good. The mustard sauce on top was amazing. But once our food was dropped off we never got a check in, nothing, no offer for a refill on wine, etc. Water was constantly filled but our server disappeared. Especially because someone in our party didn’t like their salmon dish, but wound up swapping with someone else. Only one in our party got dessert, the crème brûlée she liked it, I didn’t try it. Overall it’s a pretty cool spot and the food was very good but the service needs a bit of a step up. I understand being busy but at least one check in would have been nice. We saw our waiter twice, once for ordering and once for the check. Good spot for a date night, maybe not a larger group than 4 – 5.

Had a 7:00 res here tonight(Friday). Place was packed. Our table was not ready cuz the people before us were still drinking wine. The restaurants fault for overbooking tables. We were pretty pissed but the host gave us free champagne. Good move on his part. Bought him some more time. Finally were seated about 25 min late. He told me he would hook us up further as an apology. Which is the right thing to do when this kind of thing happens. Especially when we’re about to drop a few hundred on dinner. We ordered bottle of Malbec and a bunch of dishes. Wine was very good. And well priced. We had the chicken liver mousse($ 9) delish. So creamy and smooth and it came with some awesome condiments. And the Beet Salad($ 14) very good. And the french onion mac n cheese or whatever. Also really good. They brought burlap sacks full of fresh bread to the table constantly. Huge plus. For mains we had the truffle salad with hericot vert, the salmon, the octopus and ratatouille, and the whole fish, can’t remember what kind. Everything was great except the octopus was slightly overcooked. Had a good crispy outside though. They also brought us an apple tartine. Which was lovely. Lastly the host. A big tall guy with dreads, intercepted our bill so he could make things right. He comped us a few dishes for the extended wait. Which i thought was really legit. I understand that shit happens. And if you make up for it the manly way by recognizing your mistake and making things right i think that says a lot about the character of a person and a business. So well done sir. I’ll definitely be back for some delicious good and fairly priced wine!

Amelie was a great place to visit for Valentine’s Day dinner. My boyfriend made a reservation for 5, but due to traffic we arrived at 5:30. The restaurant was very accommodating and seated us when we arrived. The meal was prix fixed at $ 75/person. This was an amazing price for a date in New York. I expected small portions but my date and I were pleasantly surprised with the size of each plate. We had the ceviche and oysters to start, which was light and deliciously citrus-y. Next my boyfriend had the sun choke soup which came with a sack of bread. The soup was a nice green color, creamy and light. I had the tuna ceviche — it could’ve used more flavor or even salt. I could tell the fish was fresh and again the portion was very large. Next we both had the filet which looked to be about 6 – 7 ounces each! Both came out cooked perfectly. The potatoes gratin were delish as well. For dessert we got the banana crème brûlée and the Valrhona chocolate mouse. Both were decadently sweet and light. The wait staff were very attentive filling our waters and clearing our tables timely. They were also very sweet and brought a long stemmed rose along with out check! Overall my experience here was great and will definitely come back on a regular night to try other items.

Stopped by Amelie for a small bite to eat on Saturday. We had come just for some wine, cheese, and charcuterie and left very satisfied. The place is small and cramped, so be warned when you’re coming with a group. Service is warm and friendly and very French. We were easily seated at around 2 pm. My friend had a red wine flight and I had a lovely large glass of Pinot. We ordered the cheese and charcuterie board where you have the option to select a mix up of cheeses and meats. The duck salami was great as were all the other little things that were included(dried fig, sweet walnut, grapes, mustard, honey, butter, some sweet jam, bread, caramelizes onions, etc). I wish the bread was warm, but still tasted good and they were quick to refill. Overall, it was a light, satisfying, and surprisingly filling meal. This place gives off kind of a pretentious feel, but the food is good so whatever.

Pre-pre valentine dinner because the place was fully booked for the actually v-day weeks in advance. Had the popular items: Chicken liver mousse, Goat cheese ball, Seared salmon, Duck leg confit and Banana crème brûlée. Very authentic French taste with a propensity for onion jam. Chicken liver mousse was very well preserved and presented in those French foie gras jars I miss very much. As chicken liver tends to be slightly fattier than your regular goose liver, it’s not for everyone. The warm goat cheese ball was very interesting — again, covered in onion jam, which is not my favorite, but the cheese itself was on the rich side. Seared salmon was topped with what I assum was ground horseradish, which gave the fish some spunk. Duck leg was excellent — very delicious sauce paired with refreshing endive and juicy mushroom. Take advantage of their happy hour wine selection — you get three glasses for $ 12. Definitely a treat for French food lovers.

Small spot, so I would make reservations, especially if your party is more than 4 people; there’s only one area that can seat a large party(that also means that the times to book that area will be limited as well). To start, my friends and I split the charcuterie platter and the steak tartar. I love how you’re able to pick what your charcuterie plate consists of! All the meat were really good that I wish the portions were a tad bit bigger as there were only 3 pieces of each. The steak tartar was absolutely delicious. It was like I was transported back to Paris to when I first had this dish. My friends were scared to try this at first, but after some persuasion, they eventually gave in and loved it as well. The steak tartar was especially good on the crispy baguette as well. You can always count on the French for the best baguettes. For entrees, I ordered the duck confit and got to sample my friend’s steak frites. The duck confit was good as the meat was falling off the bone tender. My friend said he had better steak elsewhere and I agreed. The fries were perfectly crispy and fried to perfection though. I’d return to share the charcuterie platter, steak tartar, and duck confit.

An absolutely adorbs wine bar with fabulous, romantic atmosphere, wonderful service, and yes, of course, a great selection of wines. Our reservation was for 6pm which meant the happy hour menu was still on so we got to enjoy beautiful wines for more than reasonable prices. The way the samples were created was very smart and it was incredibly easy to pick because the pairings names told even the least experienced wine taster all the info he/she would need to make a selection. We had the full bodied reds which included generous pours of Pinot, Malbec, Bordeaux, Merlot, and Cabernet– all really great. Now on to the food. The menu contained carefully selected and wonderfully pair– able dishes that were executed perfectly. The goat cheese & roasted peppers, smoked sardines, and salmon bruschetta were simple, yet so full of flavor. They also paired great with our Pinot and Malbec pours. Next, we had the mushroom pizza with the Bordeaux and Merlot. We finished the meal with the beef tartare. The creaminess of the raw quail egg complimented wonderfully the perfectly seasoned beef. A great classic, nicely done and paired great with the full bodied Cab. I’d love to come back and try some of the main courses and sip on some more fabulous wine!

Found this cute place last year on Unilocal.Escargot & wine, you know I’ll be there. I initially wanted to try their happy hour wine flight deal but I guess I didn’t order correctly and got a HUGE glass of wine instead. So that’s okay. I arrived early and ordered myself a glass of wine, escargot and smoke salmon arugula salad. Let me tell you, I was craving smoked salmon salad months later. Next time I will ask them to omit the the dressing as it was flavorful enough without. My friends came later and we opted for the bottle since it was actually pretty cheap. I would like to come back for the happy hour wine deal! And some more of that smoke salmon salad.

Our time at Amelie happy hour this past weekend was nothing short of excellent! We got there around 4p on a Saturday and managed to snag the last two seats at the bar. This is not a big place by any means, so if you’re looking to do happy hour, arrive on the earlier side. It goes from 4 – 7 everyday! Filled with lots of locals finishing up brunch and taking advantage of the specials offered — $ 12.00 wine flights — which is essentially 3 almost-full glasses of wine per person to try. I was a little unsure of what to pick, so the bartender was accomodating and created my very own flight according to my tastes! Both red and white flights available. There are also nicely-priced select bites on the menu if you’re hungry! We tried the escargot($ 6.00), and even though I’m not the biggest fan of these slimy little guys, the bread that came along with it was so delicious. The couple next to us had the pistachio encrusted goat cheese ball($ 6.00) which also looked really good. We met the nicest regular customer here who insisted Amelie was the ‘real deal’ when it comes to French cuisine. From what we had, we did not disagree!

Booked a table for 12 for my boyfriend’s birthday on a Saturday and had a blast. Keep in mind that there is only one large, round table and can only accommodate up to 12 ppl. The rest of the tables looks like it is only for 2 ppl. The place is small but cozy and gets extremely busy so I’d advise to make reservations. The food is AMAZING. since I selected this place, I was very adamant about the quality of food and overall experience especially for my guests. Everyone loved their entrees. We had the salmon, trout, filet mignon, and kale salad. We also ordered the prosciutto flatbread and the mushroom flatbread. Everything was so delicious! The staff were so attentive which made the overall experience a perfect birthday dinner. Afterwards, all of my guests kept raving about this place and thanked me for organizing such a wonderful birthday dinner. My boyfriend loved it. I want to thank the staff at Amelie’s for making that night so special for us!

Overly priced. Cramped. Decent food. Came here on a Saturday with a reservation expecting a crowd and got one. Waiting about 10 – 15 minutes for a tight table for two. While the cheese platter was fine and the wine list was impressive, I was not impressed with the rest, including the flatbread. Nothing really stands out from my meal at Amelie – I just remember leaving thinking«meh.» There are plenty of expensive wine bars in the city.

Absolutely loved Amélie! $ 12 flight of 3 wines for happy hour! The flight glasses were basically the same size as most other restaurants use and the suggested flights were all so amazing – I went with 2 friends and we ordered 4 red wine flights(one for each of us and another to share) and I was so happy with all of them. We also ordered individual glasses. Also, our waiter was really friendly and helpful. He recommended me the perfect white wine to finish off the night(: For food, we had the cheese platter and the rostini platter – both of them went perfect with our wines.

Anybody who knows me knows that I’m not a Unilocal fan, but I had to write this review because I’ve had so many wonderful experiences at Amélie. And I couldn’t let another one pass me by without writing something crazy positive. The cheese selection and acouterments for this(dried apricots-figs-plums, candied walnuts, grapes, pear jam, and honey) as well as the charcuterie(with cornichons, moutarde à l’ancienne, caramelized onions), frisée au lardons, foie gras au torchon, moules, canard confit, tarte tatin, chocolat fondant, escargots, steak tartare — -I’ve never had a bad experience there The wine is lovely. They’re incredibly accommodating — always love every moment Jacques, Fred, Benji, Olivier, Abram, Usman, and Jean — everyone made this night and makes every other night so wonderful. A must visit!

Happy Hour 4−7pm: $ 12 flight of 3 wines Best to make a reservation in advance, but if you want to try walking in– arrive before 5:30pm or after 8:30pm. There are suggested white or red flights, but you can also make your own with a mix and match. I wish I’d taken tasting notes. Goat Cheese w/Pistachio– great starter with a filling bread to help break up your happy hour indulgence. Flatbread– great for sharing or having as a meal– the mushroom version was splendid. This flatbread is more like a thin cracker. Space is a little tight and loud for an intimate evening or date– but great to enjoy with chatty friends and colleagues.

Magnifique! Amelie is a gem of Greenwich Village, unassuming but amazing in every which way. I came into the restaurant right before peak dinnertime with a friend, and were fortunate to find a seat by the bar. Due to the facetime with our wonderful servers, I highly suggest doing so. Since I mentioned the servers, I will say upfront that they are some of the warmest people I have encountered. Whether asking about the menu or asking for more bread, your request will be met with a smile and immediate attention. On to the food! Many of mentioned the pistachio crusted goat cheese ball, and I will have to join the chorus of praises; it is the best single food item I have had in quite some time. A trip to Amelie is worth it for that dish alone. Further, the charcuterie board is wonderful, in particular the smoked duck breast, country pâté, and prosciutto. On top of that, the lobster risotto was light yet decadent, while the sheep’s milk cheese(a special) was a dream. The different condiments that came with the meat board and cheese were not to be overlooked either. For drinks, Amelie has the great option of making your own wine flight, on top of some suggested groupings such as dry whites or full-bodied reds. Amelie is a wine bar after all, and there is no better way to enjoy your fill of vino. You will have your pick of glasses from all the major wine regions of France to Australia, so there is guaranteed to be a few fit for you. Finally, a word about the atmosphere that Amelie creates. The restaurant will transport you to France. Every server is authentically French, and as a Francophile myself this was like catnip. The décor is comely, with lights dimmed and a grand display of various wines and liquors behind the bar counter. Despite the crowded nature, the noise level requires no straining of the voice to hold conversation. Amelie is the definition of a modern wine bar, fusing French cuisine with wines from the world over. The cat is already out of the bag about Amelie, so you will need a reservation, but the sooner you get there the happier you will be.

Came here on Christmas eve for dinner and I ordered the small mushroom risotto for $ 20. Was it worth the $ 20? Heck no. But mushroom dishes in general are expensive so I wasn’t surprised. The food wait was sooo slow. We received our free bread when our entrees were ready — I’m pretty sure they forgot to give us bread earlier. We were starving and eyeing everyone’s bread and questioning if we had to order wine to get bread. My friends enjoyed their expensive fish and seafood dishes and the tiny crispy bread that accompanied it.

I’m not feeling the love for this place. Despite going at 6pm midweek, it was packed and we were fortunate to squeeze on the end of a bench row. We ordered some food, and the happy hour wine flights(three related small glasses of wine for $ 12) which was a good deal. Or it would have been if the wine had been good, but one of the reds was obviously bad(which they replaced) and the others wines didn’t really move us. The food was better, the salmon tartar was tasty and riddled with avocado, and the liver pâté was good too. The chicken liver that is, if you’re thinking of ordering their foie gras, search on you tube for«foie gras undercover», watch a video or two, then see if it still appeals. Our waiter was very pleasant when we got his attention but tracking him down was difficult because they were super busy. And the impression I get is that they always are. The main waiter was direct(borderline rude) to people asking for tables, and yet when someone aggressively sat down on a spare stool they moved into the path of waiters by the bar, the staff caved and allowed him and his date to jump the 40-minute line. So good-not-great food, good service when you can get it, not so good wine, long waits for tables, and uncomfortably cramped. Won’t be rushing back.

I must confess– for years, I thought«escargot» was just something Biggie Smalls aka Big Poppa made up so he could rhyme it with«my car go», but I was happy to learn it’s a real thing and it’s delicious. Get that, and get the wine flights as well. And bring your date here!

Happy hour deals are great(before 7pm) — 3 small glasses of wine(3 options for a white wine flight and 3 options for a red wine flight) for $ 12 — and some small eats. I had the«Olivier» white wine flight(aromatic white wines) which were all nice. The escargot was alright, well cooked, but not very flavorful. It was worth it for the happy hour price($ 6). The goat cheese ball was good, but just not my taste. The accompaniments of honey, caramelized onions and pistachios were very nice. The crostinis were not good — I would not suggest ordering these. We shared the Duck Leg Confit. While this was a small size, the duck was very flavorful and juicy. I’d recommend this! Just a great place to chat and drink some wine — make sure to make reservations(only if you’re eating).

Wine, wine pour me a generous pour in a goblet! With a thirst for some wine and good quality food following a Open-Mic spoken word poetry performance, my Unilocal travels take me to Amelie– an intimate very popular French wine bar north of Washington Square Park. Ambiance is very modern in cool red décor with an extensive wine list of bottle and glass including wine flights for the avid wine aficionado. This intimate small wine bar was near extremely overcrowded on a Friday night as I stood by the entryway waiting for a spot. Luckily as the Power of One to wine and dine alone, I did not have to wait long to sit at the bar. Hooks are available for bags under the bar counter and bar chairs have a back to place jackets and winter coats. Staff are fluent in English and French who very friendly and enable to convey good wine recommendations and attentive for customer service. Four stars as their jokes to intimidate and belittle customers are very snide and apathetic which I ignore to deplore at first arrival: «We have NOMORE duck!!» AIJA! I came here specifically for the roast duck and good quality wine. Immediately followed by a two-face snide«just kidding.» The wine goblet was truly an oversized goblet sufficient to swirl, sniff, and taste. I specifically came here for the roasted duck leg Confit and minimal Frisee salad with potatoes but an abundant mushrooms. I never cared for Frisee salad nor mushrooms, but the duck was flavorable as well as the skin. The bar tender suggested a Kabinett Riesling German wine which was a very delightfully minimal sweet choice. My bill totaled $ 40.24 as anticipated for duck entrée and one German wine. Kabinett Riesling German wine(do not know the vineyard name or the city, town or country where the grape orginated) $ 11.00 Roasted Duck Leg Confit $ 26.00 Bread served in a burlap bag for a unique rustic appeal. The bill is embedded in André Gide’s first book«Les faux-monnayeurs» which Kabinett is misspelt incorrectly as «Kabinet» is missing one T. Kabinett Reisling is a type of German white wine.

Pros: Happy Hour — Amelie offers wine flights(3 glasses) for $ 12. You can create your own selection or choose from their suggested menu. Cons: Crowded and slow service. Like many French restaurants in Paris, your meal and wine will take some time to arrive. However, if you can overlook this, the entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. When you first walk in, Amelie seems like any wine bar in New York City. The restaurant is not large and the décor is typical of most cozy French restaurants. However, as you listen to the staff speak in their native tongue(French) and soak in the atmosphere of the restaurant, you soon realize you’re in good company. As part of my restaurant club, we selected Amelie for our biweekly meeting. I called the night before to make a reservation for five at 7:30 pm, but like many great NYC food establishments, they were booked until at least 10:00 pm. The host suggested that I come early and grab a bar table instead, and so I did. I arrived at 6:45 pm to a bustling restaurant — glasses of red wine sat accompanied by young and beautiful New Yorkers. For dinner, my compatriots and I ordered: Appetizers: — Salmon Tartar — A — Steamed Mussels — C+ — Chicken Liver Mouse — B+ Entrees: — Duck Leg Confit — A — Trout — A+ — Pork Chop — A — Filet Mignon — B Dessert: — Crème Brulee — A+ — Chocolate Mousse — C — Chocolate Lava Cake — A+ — Apple Tarte Tartin — B

Wow. I went to a wine bar in the middle of the day without ordering wine, and I can already tell this is a fantastic spot. I went for a relaxed weekday lunch with girlfriends, although the atmosphere a little later on in the night would be perfect for a date. Amelie is small and cozy, and although it was pretty empty when we went, I’m sure it fills up fast for happy hour and beyond. No matter what time you go, do yourself a favor and get the incredible warm pistachio crusted goat cheese ball with honey. C’est magnifique! The creamy goat cheese ball melts in your mouth, with a perfect touch of sweetness from the honey and onions. Even better was the accompanying fresh bread, which tasted like it had literally just come out of the oven. I tried the omelette parisienne with ham, gruyère, and mushrooms for my main, and it was very simple but still delicious and filling. Again, you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. Our server was also very pleasant and helpful, and we felt very well taken care of. If lunch was this great, I can’t wait to come back at night and see what else Amelie has in store.

The appetizers are bombbb, I could almost fill up on appetizers next time instead of ordering an entrée. We ordered 3 – 4 different things on the app menu and they were all great, especially the muscles. Minus one star for having to wait 45 minutes even though we had a reservation. I also ordered the ravioli equivalent and was a little over loaded by the cheese, same thoughts on the lobster ravioli. I tasted a couple of the other dishes, however, and they were all wonderful! We were celebrating 4 birthdays that night and the wait staff was great, they brought us all chocolate lava cakes and sang a big birthday song for us. Fun environment overall.

Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and we were both really satisfied. They have an awesome wine flights happy hour deal which allows you to select from different categories of wines and you get flights of each in the grouping. This is a really cute date place to sample a few wines and get some decent food. They were really good about refreshing the bread on the table which was fantastic. Although I was not impressed with the escargot. Maybe its the uncultured American in me but I felt like it could have used some more garlic and cheese. Really interesting way of delivering the check. They place it in a book and give it to you. Cool like spin on things. Make sure that you get here early on a Friday/Saturday or make reservations well in advance as this is a hot restaurant and fills up fast. The place is not that large inside so seating is limited.

Some friends took me here on one of my visits to the city. Since we didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday a little before dinner time, we had to sit at one of the small bar tables. It was a tight space but we made it work, and were glad to just be there. And luckily we were able to take advantage of the happy hour menu that had great deals! To start off, we each got a flight of 3 different wines. There was a nice variety to choose from and the servings were large as well. I started off with the escargot appetizer which was awesome and had enough sauce to dip the crusty bread in. For my main meal I ordered the roasted duck leg confit which came with fingerling potatoes. I am a big fan of duck so I’m always excited when I see it on a menu. It was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked here. The service was exceptional and all in we had a great time. I cannot wait to come back. Very reasonably priced for the great food they present!

Estive no amelie para comemorar o valentine’s day e não posso reclamar de nada. Serviço impecável, menu de 4 pratos, com preco fixo, dedicado ao dia em questao e excelente carta de vinhos.
