I was in the mood for some Mexican, and Agave had some great reviews. So my boyfriend and I decided to give this place a shot since we had to be in the neighborhood for a party we were attending Saturday night. The host was great! He was friendly and welcoming. Great start! The waiter seemed great at first, but then he was hard to find. Granted it was Saturday night, but it wasn’t at all packed and our waiter only had 2 other tables besides ours. One of the tables was a party of about 12, but that’s no excuse to forget your other tables. I’m a bartender in NYC so I understand how it could get but really there was no excuse. The appetizers were great! We had the guacamole with blue corn tortilla chips and empanadas which were SPOTON! Entrees my boyfriend had the burger, which he said was descent, but his fries were too salty and I had the chicken enchilada which was just OK! The rice that came with it was so hard! It was hardly al denta, it was more either barely cooked or they scrapped up the bottom of what was left in the pot of old rice. It was overall an OK experience, but my boyfriend and I agree we never have to go here again.

I will start by saying Agave had me extremely excited due to my gf stating it took a month to book, unfortunately the experience is pretty much left up to you. The ambience isn’t necessarily inviting rather loud and confined. It’s a good time for those in a large party but the couple who just wants to enjoy each other’s company and enjoy some laughs will feel overwhelmed here. To top things off $ 33 for a skimp plate of skirt steak, eggs and hash is unacceptable for the hype wrapped around here. I was still left hungry and ordered the garlicky fries. The fries were incredible. The bottomless cocktails were perfect and my cup was always full. My rating isn’t for the food but rather the experience, a lot of hype surrounded around this place. A lot of other great places that will deliver a better experience for a margin of the price.

3-stars for the food, 2-stars for the service, but 4-stars for the ambiance and the drinks. Truth be told the food wasn’t anything special with one exception: my breakfast burrito and the beans that it was served on top of were actually quite tasty. Let’s be honest here though. You’re aren’t going to Agave for the service or the food. You’re going there for the really tasty(and quite strong) drinks which they’re quick to re-fill. For ~$ 30, if you’re like me, that’s quite a good deal. Add in a set of boisterous fellow patrons and, my friend, you got yourself a pretty good boozy brunch.

This is a great place if you want a BOOZY brunch! Your drink is never empty and the staff is very attentive. The atmosphere is a bit rowdy depending on the other patrons but fun. The drinks are strong. They were also very accommodating to my dietary sensitivities. The food came out quick and was good. It is hard to get into on weekends I would make a reservation if you can get one.

I had a WONDERFUL time here. If you’re planning to visit, or have a group gathering, call in advance! I called in December for a 1÷30÷16 date, and the place was booked! However, I was able to book a brunch for 1÷31÷15. My time here was great! My server John, the hostess, and staff were extremely friendly. John was the absolute best. He was a great server, very attentive, and patient. We were seated in the tequila room, where there is a iPhone dock for your personal music. We decorated the room, and enjoyed our two hour stay. Be prepared to stop drinking after your two hours, you’ll probably be drunk by then anyway. The drinks were strong, and the food was delicious. I ordered a chicken sandwich that was dry, but everyone else loved their food. Full of flavor, and succulent. This is the spot to be! I will be returning in the future. Thank you John for the great service. From the party with the square cupcakes, and Tiffany themed decorations.

Agave is a huge American/Mexican restaurant close to the Christopher Street stop on the 1 and 2 train and Washington Square Park. I came here for a friend’s birthday brunch with a group of 12. I was impressed by the size of the restaurant when I walked in. This restaurant is great for large groups! We had a nice big table in the back of the restaurant. Really great natural lighting. The brunch is $ 30(a little over $ 40 including tip) and it comes with one egg entrée and unlimited mimosas and frozen margaritas. They put two pitches on our long table — one of each kind. Our server was very attentive and made sure our pitchers never went dry. For such a big restaurant, I was again surprised by the quality of the food. Everything came out at the same time and prepared nicely. I really enjoyed my food and our server made sure to let us know that we could stay until our pitchers were empty. She even filled it up to the brim. I would definitely come back with a large group. The only thing I’d change is to make the brunch options include non-egg options(vegans want to eat, too!).

Hands down one of the best brunch spots in the city. My best friend planned a surprised brunch for me in the Tequila room and she decorated it beautifully. The room is huge and an ipod can be connected to the restaurant’s speaker system to play any music you desire. Great ambiance and our server John was very attentive during the two hour bottomless brunch. He made sure to keep the margaritas and mimosas flowing each time the pitcher looked half empty. My party got a little tipsy and they let us stay over our 2 hour limit. I ordered the Energy breakfast and it was delicious. Not sure how much my guests liked their food but I know the drinks definitely were on point. Looking for a cute bottomless brunch… Check this place out.

Made it in just before end of 7 pm happy. Nice job. $ 2 tacos and $ 6 margaritas. Had chicken a steak and a squash blossom taco. I’m not a veg head but squash blossom was far and away the best. Music Is kinda loud at bar but I’m alone so not too bothered. Bartender is cute and friendly. Clean and tidy. Looks to be good for groups to. Gaggle of 6 seated comfortably in front of me. Casual environment. Convenient to rain. I say stop by.

Holy shit. The amount of food on your plate will feed you for 2 — 3 days. The Mexican Shepherd’s Pie was 4lbs of chorizo, mac, cheese and ground beef. Huge spot. Great ambiance in the dining room for a crew or a date. I’d hit it again.

Disappointed it took more than 10 minutes for the waiter to take our drink order. It wasn’t even because the restaurant was too busy, we were the 1st table to sit at 5:30 on a Friday. Also disappointed that the website says they still have the toasted coconut margarita and when I got there they said they don’t. :( I did LOVE the jalapeño margarita, however. Fish tacos were BOMB and guacamole was delicious as always.

Very much enjoyed my time at Agave for brunch! The bottomless drinks were flowing and the food was tasty. You’ll very much need to make a reservation– probably about a month out; the hostess said to call versus using open table. The reason for three stars: we were seated in the front of the restaurant and there was quite the hefty draft. They had a space heater but it didn’t seem to be on. A very fun drunk brunch and we’ll be back!

That’s right, a solid 5! The husband has made it our mission to enjoy the top 10 boozie brunch spots in NYC, and after enjoying this 2 hour bottomless brunch I understand why Agave is on that list. First, make reservations. M used open table and thank goodness he did. We showed up on time for our 11:30 reservation, the place was just starting to fill up. People in front of us were turned away or told the wait would be 2 plus hours at the bar. Once we were seated the restaurant was packed. Food was amazing. I had the lobster Benedict and M had an omelet. Both were excellent. Our server was great. I love how they come by to fill your glass before it’s even empty. Many bottomless brunch places wait until you’re empty or near empty. We were refilled constantly and were never in danger of having to wait with an empty glass. I highly recommend this brunch spot and would love to go back.

Seems like this place is the quintessential go-to for boozy brunch in New York. What a shame because I’ve experienced much better. The biggest thing that this place has going for it is the vibe: There is pumping music playing and it’s really easy to get into the whole day drinking thing here. However, the drawbacks are that if you’re trying to actually talk to your neighbor, tough luck. Great for boozy brunch parties though! Food wise, I thought it was the standard fancy brunch fare. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict and was appalled at how there were only 2 pieces of smoked salmon overall. The chips and guac stood out because the guac had a spiciness that I liked. However, overall I did not think the quality of the food merited their massive price tags. The other thing that was a turn off was the service. Promptly after 2 hours, we were cut off and practically pushed out. My friend tried to order tap water and was refused. Not sure I am the biggest fan, but I am glad I got to experience this place for myself.

Stopped in for dinner. Fast, friendly service. Went with the chicken enchilada. The mole sauce tasted sweeter and richer than those from my experience at other spots. It complemented the hearty texture of the chicken and blue-corn tortillas(… I guess it’s difficult to suggest that the color of the tortillas affected its texture). Intimate spaces, but lots of space. Understated appointments — not the cheeky tex-mex king of vibe. I saw a couple of group rooms, or sections. I didn’t feel lost, or overly crowded, either. You’ll find a casual, comfortable environment, suitable for a couple or a gathering. My one gripe was that the diet cola(coke?) was flat and bitter … or, perhaps I’m projecting too much of myself into my food. ;-)

Came for happy hour — YUM! Best margaritas I’ve had in the city, and doesn’t hurt that they’re only $ 5! So many different, beautiful choices too– I ordered 3, one of which was a delicious peach(sadly, I don’t remember the others, but remember them tasting like juice and then feeling the effects a few minutes later. The best!). Drinks also made us really hungry, so we ordered two food specials, the fish tacos and empanadas. Both were tiny portions, but I guess that’s the point of happy hour specials! Food came out very quickly and efficiently. We did have a bit of a hard time getting the bartender’s attention every time we needed more drinks… but th3 place was pretty busy and we sat at the corner of the bar. Places like this make happy hour magical!!!

Agave NY Manhattan West Village 11am Sunday 1st November 2015 Four Stars In celebration of Ashley’s Birthday and unseasonably warm weather, we had a one last outdoor brunch«for the season.» We arrive exactly at 11am and were able to snag a table on the smaller patio section to the south of the entrance. We opted for the Pre Fixe Brunch which includes an entrée and bottomless drinks for 2 hours($ 30). It took a little while for waitress to get to our table because how crowded it was in the restaurant. We started with Guacamole and a pitcher of mimosa. The avocado was served in a fried flour tortilla bowl. The mimosa were delicious meaning there was not very much sparkling wine. Since all five of us got the same drink we got a pitcher at the table. I was going to get the heuvos rancheros but it said that it came with a golden fried egg which I assumed meant one egg(but I was wrong). I had the Southwest Benedict instead. The English Muffin was split in half and filled with two poached eggs, sliced avocado, tomato and a chipotle hollandaise. Overall, it was good. The avocado was under ripe; the tomato were decent; the poached eggs were done nicely; the hollandaise was rich, velvety, and well seasoned. The home fries had a nice flavor but could have used more texture. After our food, we switched to margaritas on the rocks which packed a much bigger punch. I definitely could see straight after our two hours were up. They run a tight ship and rushed us out after 2 hours.

Simply one of the best brunch spots in the city. Be sure to make a reservation WEEKS in advanced. Bottomless margs and mimosas, you can switch for the two hours, definitely worth it. The huevos rancheros was really good, heavy on the mole sauce. The salmon eggs Benedict also very good, the salmon is fresh, would recommend getting the sauce on the side has its heavy. But the brioche bun is super good. Potatoes are meh. Also, the calamari is a huge serving and really good to share with many people. Really fun vibe I would totes brunch here all the time, also, don’t show up like a slob, this place is definitely for the fancy brunch crew.

Over-priced Mexican food… period. There is nothing spectacular about this place. The atmosphere is more like an Italian Restaurant or something… Honestly, I would save your money and go elsewhere. The happy hour is meh. and it only applies to certain seating areas which is bull5h! t because the bar is on the smaller side of things

On a double brunch weekend a friend and I stopped in for the infamous bottomless brunch. For 2 we luckily only waited about 20 minutes, significantly less than we were quoted. Got a table right in the sun which was somewhat of a bummer — the patio was hot but definitely nice. Boozy options included margaritas. I have a weakness for tequila and had some great brain freezes this morning. Food was great. Lots of entrée options. I made my own omelette and my friend went for the eggs Benny. Service was a little disappointing, and slow to say the least. But they were packed. My friends potatoes had a hair literally baked into them — if we could have easily removed it we probably wouldn’t have cared. I politely asked them to take care of it(which took little to no time). But no one really apologized. They are strict on the 2 hour limit which is disappointing because they are so slow. But all in all extremely delicious and in a fun area!

Was on a hunt for boozy brunch spots in NYC and this was consistently #1 on several lists. First advice, make an appointment! You’re not the only New Yorker who wants boozy brunch on Sunday. Luckily my friends and I planned to tan at the Pier while we waited. Honestly, we only waited about 30 mins before the hostess called me and so we scurried back. It was 2PM. Perfect! The max time is 2 hours at a table. Brunch ends at 4PM. We sat outside in the scorching heat, which was OK in the beginning but deathly towards the end. The restaurant should really consider buying more umbrellas. Just a suggestion. Besides mimosas, I love how you can get real drinks here like frozen or margaritas on the rocks. I believe it was an extra $ 2-$ 4 if you wanted to add flavor to it. The margarita on the rocks was so strong. If you can’t handle it just go with the frozen margaritas. Waiters will come around to refill your glasses. They did very well in this department. The food itself here is great. Maybe it was the alcohol leaving us delirious but my group devoured our food and then we were onto the chips and guac. If you make reservations you can get indoor seating, which definitely could have ended up us drinking more than we could handle. Like the girl we saw throwing up on our visit to the bathroom. Uh oh! Bring a group of friends who are down to get wasted during the day.
