I’d say this is 3−½ to 4 stars. I round up because the food was fresh. The location: A few blocks from Grand Central, which is convenient. The building: It’s one of the restaurants where you take about 3 steps down to get it. It’s on a corner. Not fancy but more of place for an unpretentious meal with waiter service. Décor: Plain tables without table cloths. Not that nice inside but not bad either. It’s right in the midde. Food: Our meals came with a very small salad, which was a leafy green salad not iceburn. It came with a standard dressing, no choice given before it showed up. The food was good and average sized, not a giant portion but it seemed very fresh. There was fresh bread and olive oil. Prices: Lasagna in the 12 – 15 range. Entrees with salad in the 15 — 17 range. I found the prices to be a little on the high side. We will prob. be back sometime. I wish it were a little cheaper since the décor was iffy and portions weren’t that big.

This is actually a good place for pasta and salad near Grand Central. I personally like this place a lot and I do not understand why there are many negative reviews. Yes, the pasta can be $ 12 but it does include salad. Other nearby places do not include salad nor bread. So it works itself out. i am never hungry after leaving here.

Visiting NY from the UK last week we went in search of an Italian close to our hotel and after a bad false start(The Tuscany is a block of flats not a restaurant!) we stumbled upon The house of lasagna. I can only echo the good reviews posted here, the food was fresh and tasty. Portion control was spot on. The service polite and good humoured particularly after a mix up over drinks caused by our English accents, my wife asked for a Martini and the waiter heard«tea», the mistake was rectified with good humour and flirtatious aside when the correct drink appeared. Suffice to say we chose to eat there again during our break and enjoyed it as much the second time. We’ll be back for certain.

Decent place in midtown for a quick inexpensive bite. Lasagna entrees, while small are reasonably priced at $ 12. The lasagna is nothing to write home about, but several varieties are offered to satisfy everyone’s palate. Not sure if I would come back any time soon given the many choices nearby, but it is certainly a unique little place worthy of a one time visit.

Food is decent quality, not much in terms of choices and even fewer choices for drinks. What is worse is the waiter who acted like we were intruding on his life, rushed us to order, took our food before one person was done eating, and through our bill at us with an already added 17% gratuity. When we asked for the manager he said it was a «mistake», the waiter could not bother to apologize for the«mistake» in our bill. Would not mind leaving a 17% tip if it wasn’t for the fact that the waiter was not even worth $ 1. Much better Italian restaurants in NY, why put up with a rude staff and just so so food?

It’s a solid spot for a quick, cheap, and civilized lunch if you work in the neighborhood. Pretty good pasta, especially considering the price and location. The prices are roughly the same as you would pay in the over-crowded Midtown lunch places, though you wind up spending a bit more because of the tip. The portions are not huge, but just the right size if you don’t want a food coma rendering you useless all afternoon at work.

Came here last night with the bf after the gym(definitely not the smartest, healthiest choice for dinner). It was late and we were both hungry and just looking for a place that was open and not just a bar. House of Lasagna beckoned and we were drawn like moths to a light. It’s pretty plain inside. Not all that nice, but not really crappy either. A few tables, not much décor, dim lighting, strange large vent on the ceiling. A B health grade. Meh. There were a few other people there, but it was late, so I didn’t expect much of a crowd. We were seated immediately and were brought some bread and water. The menu isn’t large, so it didn’t take much time for us to decide what we wanted to order. I got their«new!» lasagna, which had pesto, beefsteak tomatoes and summer squash in it. It was good. I ate the entire thing and was not disappointed. The bf got one with sausage in it, and he said he enjoyed it as well. Clean plate club here. We also got the garlic bread, which was good. It wasn’t that frozen kind. You could tell that they made it themselves. The staff was nice. Attentive but not overbearing. Very kind. I’d come back here again if we couldn’t decide on a place to eat or if we’re in the area. If you have a craving for some homemade lasagna, I recommend this place.

This was a random hunger induced seamless web pick. Just another overpriced less than mediocre midtown delivery joint making its business off the indiscriminate hunger pains of the masses. Eggplant Lasagna –my $ 15 lasagna was about 6 inches long and two inches wide. It wasn’t dense either. The ingredients were just layered on top of each other loosely. It almost seemed like they werent baked together. The tomato sauce was pretty good, but not seasoned and flavorful enough to hold up to the bland strips of pasta, eggplant and plain ricotta. Even covered in salt and pepper this was still pretty bland. Dang it. no longer will I trust likes on seamless… Came with side salad which was just mixed greens, cherry tomatoes and Italian dressing. Thank goodness I had ranch and cheese in my fridge at work! Tiramisu — Tiny sliver for $ 6.50. It may take a master to perfect tiramisu, but its pretty tough to make one that doesn’t taste good. This one is mediocre but does the job. Semifreddo al Cioccolato — Ball of chocolate mouse covered in chocolate powder filled with ice cream. Meh. chocolate wasn’t very flavorful and flavor of the ice cream was a little odd to me. The dish seemed like something an elderly person would enjoy once it thawed a bit and got softer. I wouldn’t pay even a $ 1 for it let alone $ 7! Not worth it, even if it were half the price!
