We came for Ayama’s Groupon deal and were very pleasantly surprised! 2 miso soups, one crab meat salad, 2 chef specialty rolls and 2 glasses of house wine. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every single dish. Definitely worth returning to!

Aoyama is my go to seamless order. I live practically across the street, so I know that they will be quick with my(all too frequent) sushi orders. One of my favorite rolls here is the salmon avocado roll with mango. I’m not sure why I like it so much from this restaurant because it is a very basic roll, but it is just always so darn delicious! The prices here are super reasonable AND they have good options for you non sushi lovers out there. Their pad thai is decent, and they have a chicken and rice dish that is super good and I’ve even ventured away from sushi once or twice to order it. Overall, good value in the area, fast delivery and never disappointing! Consistency is key.

Overall decent Japanese fusion. Nothing extraordinary, the sushi is fine — average(nothing to write home about), good cooked food. Mix of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes on menu. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Fairly priced. This place is a good option for wallet friendly sushi/fusion food but I would not go out of my way to dine here. They need to update décor — wall paper peeling off.

It has been just shy of three years since I tried this place. Order up: Tiffany Roll(Chillean sea bass, spicy tuna and avocado inside snow crab on the top with soy paper) Lava Ramen(Spicy miso with beef broth top with filet mignon, ground beef and mixed vegetable) Gentleman was very friendly when I called to confirm the order. They’re a hike from my current office, but still arrived within 45 minutes. Woulda liked if my sushi roll would have been packed in a separate bag than the piping hot ramen… but such is First World life ;-) And, fortunately, the higher-than-sushi-norm temperature actually helped bring out some of the flavors in the roll. Nice spice. Had a kind of elegance. Generous crab portioning. Good«romantic» option for date night. Tender and flavorful steak and ground beef in the ramen(nice browning on both). Arrived piping hot. Attractive layering of the solids. Really flavorful broth. Wouldn’t deem is «lava-esque» but nice, very little spice heat(miso was the dominating broth flavor). Though a couple dashes of Sriracha worked just fine. Surprise egg! Seemed to be soft boiled… then continued to cook with the broth, for a really great absorption of those flavors. Awesomely tender bamboo. Noodles weren’t a perfect al dente… but also weren’t «Dan-Dan soft». Worked out just fine. Three years later, and still on point? I think that deserves an extra star!

I came for lunch and got the bento box, which is a good deal. $ 8.50 for a side salad, entrée(many to choose from), 2 shumai, a california roll, and rice. The sides are small, but the entrée was big. I got the beef with broccoli(yes, I know it’s Chinese, not Japanese), but it was still good. If you’re a student with an ID, you get 10% off. The food came out fast and the service was good. The other items on the lunch menu included all sorts of sashimi and sushi rolls that looked good. Pricing is definitely on the cheaper side for what you get.

Best sushi in the neighborhood! Always fresh and delicious. I’ve eaten at the resturant and ordered through seamless. Fast delivery too. The Spicy Dragon roll is my favorite.

Great sushi for a great value. I ordered delivery from here and they were super fast and very accommodating with my delivery request for extra ginger and wasabi as well as minimal white rice in the rolls. I had the sushi avocado roll as well as the spicy tuna and spicy salmon roll. This is one of the rare places where you get 8 pieces of sushi, instead of the standard 6 pieces at most other places in NYC. The rolls also had a decent amount of filling(fish and avocado) in them, unlike other places I’ve tried around the area, and they were fresh. Would definitely recommend!

I’m giving this one star only because zero stars isn’t an option. I had the chicken pad Thai which I could more adequately name chicken pad dry. Probably the worst pad Thai I’ve ever had. Stay away.

Treating family to a good time in a neighborhood you’re not familiar with is always interesting, but we stumbled upon this restaurant as one of the more inexpensive options in the neighborhood that didn’t sell a cuisine they’d already eaten in NYC. The service was fast, friendly, and warm without being overly intrusive, which I appreciated. Although the restaurant itself was quiet, we sat near the open window, and the outside traffic was more than sufficient to not only separate our conversation from other tables but also to make it a bit difficult to hear at times, but, considering the location, that was expected. However, there was a slight glitch when the food came out. Upon ordering, one member of our party had neglected to notice that the meal recommended to him by the server was under the Sushi section, which is a type of food he(quite unfortunately) does not eat. As such, he sent it back, surprised and unwilling to really eat it. That said, our bad. Now, the waitress being warm and offering other options was a welcome surprise, and I thank her wholeheartedly, as I could not do so in front of the rest of the family.

Delivery was a little troublesome, but the food was delicious! I had the mushroom ramen and a couple pieces of sushi. It was all great. I will definitely give this place a second try.

Groupon had a deal for $ 30– 2 miso soups, crab salad, any two rolls, and 2 drinks. They were also running a special for $ 10 off if you used the mobile app to purchase. For $ 30, great deal… for $ 20 it simply can’t be beat! We started with a sapporo and chardonnay with the miso and crab salad. Good and good. Then my boyfriend ordered the lava roll and some sort of shrimp tempura roll. I had beef hibachi as I do not eat sushi(I know… sinful). Those rolls were so pretty! The shrimp one looked like a dragon, complete with head and tail. The Lava roll actually had this centerpiece that lit up different colors. My boyfriend, who was very skeptical of discounted sushi ended up loving it. Though with all our other food(we ordered edemame and the vegetable tempura app) he wasn’t quite able to finish all of it. We went on a Sunday evening and were the first seated table at about 7:20pm. After us 2 other couples came in though from the time we sat down until we left, delivery orders were being pumped out of this place like nobody’s business!

Fast, fresh, and right around the corner. Like most of these Asian places in the city it’s not gonna blow you away, but I generally grab this for dinner when I’m in the area and I’m never disappointed.

Ordered Tokyo Ramen from Seamless which was acceptable but didn’t impress. The duck is shredded, ramen is a little too mushy for my liking. Whole egg and all veggies(bamboo and greens) are at the bottom which makes it a little difficult to get out. The broth was included separately so I got to try it before I mixed it all together and I find that it definitely tastes different than when mixed in with the rest of ingredients. The duck does lose a little bit of it’s flavor in the broth, which is very disappointing. All in all, broth and duck separately were flavorful but the mushy ramen and the whole hardboiled egg didn’t leave a good impression. The ingredients didn’t go well together and in the future, I would wait until Seamless offers a deal for ordering but I will not sit at this place for their ramen.

After an evening of drinking almost free beers over at Rockefeller, we needed to refuel on food. We debated over which place to go to since there are so many options in this area. First, we elected to go to Fatty Fish, but then one of our friends emphasized that Ayama has half-price drinks with food. And since we are all alcoholics, this was the obvious choice. The menu is loitered with your usual suspect Japanese dishes, nothing exciting. I initially was going to get a veggie roll combo, but my friend talked me out of it. Instead, I had the veggie ramen. The dish was a large portion size chocked full of veggies and noodles. Nothing exciting, but it got the job done. All my friends got the bento boxes, and they seemed to enjoy it. I did order a carafe of hot sake and finished it all by myself. But, I would have to say that after drinking the whole thing, my head was swimming and I was quite disoriented. A casual place for Japanese food, but nothing special. But go for the half-price drink special!
