Meh! This place is frequented by a bazillion people on my office building so on the last day of two week training, I decided to get an iced coffee. Cue: Ashby’s! The place is nice inside nothing special but they have a salad, soup, sandwich, and coffee section. I took a look at the menu and saw two sizes of cold brew coffee, a small and large — the large being listed at $ 2.40 so that what I ordered. The staff member gave me a MASSIVE cup of ice coffee and told me the total was $ 3.43 I kindly pointed out that it was listed a $ 2.40 on the menu for a large. She then informed me that’s a medium and I repeated that it says a large is $ 2.40. Needless to say, I got the large for the higher price but come on people get your act together. The least you could do is have the menu board right. Pretty pathetic in my opinion!!!

The cookies at Ashby’s are AMAZING. I cannot believe they are only $ 0.50! I won’t tell you how many days in a row I went and got cookies. Everything else on the menu is eh okay. I’ve had breakfast and lunch from Ashby’s, not impressed with any of the food I’ve tried. I also think the soups and salad is overpriced. I’ll only come here for their delicious cookies.

Great, convenient place for the local working stiffs. I pop in for breakfast where I get scrambled eggs with a variety of add-ons(bacon, sausage, avocado, cheddar, the best is the chipotle aioli). Never spend more than $ 4. Only complaint? The eggs can be runny, too watery at times, which is unappetizing. The soups are good for lunch, but on the thin side, thinner than Pret a Manger. The best part? They sell Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. The chocolate chip and chocolate chocolate cookies are my kryptonite, and I’m embarrassed to say how many days in a row I had at least one. So good, and so cheap! It’s guiltless, right? Great spot. Keep up the good work.

a friend recommended their cookies… 50 cents and warm and delicious! I got a chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia… There were exceptionally delicious, just the right amount of sweetness and a slight savory end to it… this will be my go to spot next time I am craving something sweet. I also noticed their amazing make your own salad bar. their freshly cut up veggies make you want to eat a salad for sure! May try this out next time…

I was trying to take a picture of the menus on the wall and the guy at the salad bar told me off! Unbelievable, who did you think you are and what century did you think it is?! Their salad toppings are the most expensive I have seen in the area. The most basic stuff is 50c ea; olives etc are 75c ea; avocado is $ 1; artichoke and proteins are $ 2 up. Jeez, that’s probably why they don’t like me taking pictures. Oh and finally, when I went through the pivot door there was a whiff of urine… Source is probably outside the shop but still not exactly appealing…

This review is only for their chocolate chip cookies. Cookies were amazing, would have them every day. Something has gone wrong in the last three weeks, they taste very bad now. No chocolate chip cookie should taste like that. It’s like going from A+ to F– in matter of days. Also, one time I asked for a soft cookie and the lady, usually stationed at the front register by the oven, said to me «no new batch» and looked away. She’s not friendly at all. I would go there to get my cookie fix and for a week she did not appear. It was the greatest week of my life. I thought they fired her. Until she came back and then, sadness.

My coworker used to call this place«Nasty Ashby’s,» in reference to the food and the unpleasant smell. I am now invoking that nickname to address a major problem, aside from the increasingly poor quality of the food offerings in relation to their ever-escalating prices. As if that weren’t reason enough to boycott this place entirely, barring a hurricane or Forrest Gump-style rainstorm, I am here to offer another one: the attitude of the employees, which ranges from lackadaisical/blasé to otherwise engaged(usually in tomfoolery and often when there are lines of customers running from end to end of the space to order and pay) to downright rude. Here, I am referring to the cashiers, whom one would think would be all too happy to pile up customers’ hard-earned dollars, but who, instead, either cannot be bothered to acknowledge people on line to pay, many working on the clock, or else are just unnecessarily brusque and short-tempered. Bye, Felicia.

I stopped in for coffee and stepped out with a cup of coffee. Since there is quite a bit of walking traffic along this Ashbys, it’s expected that it would be a bit chaotic with the all«on the go» orders. I can see where the experiences by people have not been the best, how orders can be incorrect, the wait time being a long, etc. I cannot speak on the food as I only ordered a cup of coffee, but I can speak on the convenience of getting my cup of coffee while«on the go». The convenience gave Ashbys the rating I gave based in my visit. If I had the time to choose another option, would I have stopped in elsewhere? Yes.

This place is right across the street from my job so I have taken to going to get their reasonably priced Chicken Cobb Salad. Well, forget it. Monday I went and the chicken tasted off/bad to me so I threw most of the salad away and as it turns out — I have food poisoning! Now that I think back on it about a year ago I got some sort of chowder soup that made me very sick but I didn’t know if it was food poisoning or the amt of fried food/alcohol I consumed later that evening. Well, now I know! Steer clear!

I just signed up for Unilocal for the sole purpose of warning anyone who is even considering this place to run away as fast as you can. Unless you work in the building(like I unfortunately do) and there is a hurricane outside, why on earth would you go here??? This place is the most unorganized mess of food«service» I’ve ever seen. This morning I decided that no breakfast was better than waiting in their cramped line as other customers pushed past me and the guys behind the counter spent all of their time defrosting soups instead of making breakfast for the dozen or so customers standing in line. You guys realize there are other food options downtown, right? Perhaps one of the food trucks outside the building or Toasties a couple of blocks north on John Street? Thanks to Ashby’s, I’ve saved a ton of money brining my own lunch to work most days.

They are really great… unless you need your order to be accurate! I placed an order for the whole team at my company(30 ppl) with plenty of notice via Seamless. First, they called to tell me that they couldn’t get it to me by the delivery time I had asked for. Okay, fine, we can deal. Then the order arrives and it is missing one of the items. I called & they apologize profusely and tell me that the delivery guy just forgot it and it bringing it by «shortly». Thirty minutes later and it still hasn’t arrived. I call again — the phone receiver is obviously passed around when I say I am calling with an issue. When a woman finally gets on the phone, the first thing she says is «I’ll refund you!» When I inquired as to the problem(with a lot of pushing!), she said that she couldn’t guarantee anything and my colleague should just order something else for lunch. Well, good for you, Ashby’s — you just got your selves blacklisted at our office and no one here will be ordering from you again. P. S. Earlier this year, another colleague order from them, waited an hour for the food and then called and was told that they didn’t have enough delivery people to complete her order so they would refund her and she should order somewhere else…

Cookie review only: their chocolate chip cookies are pretty darned good. Guess I’m in the minority amongst other reviewers since I’ve never been here for food of the non-sweets variety — or can’t remember, anyway.

This is what mediocrity tastes like. This is a completely average deli(below average, actually) and a disorganized madhouse at lunch. Location is everything, I guess; park yourself in a big old office building with limited options and the drones will beat a path to your door.

Want to give a 0 star. This place has 5 star soups, 5 star cookies, 5 star service at the soup station, but 0 star service at the cash register. I go there once a week or less, and would go more if the cashiers weren’t so rude and apathetic that I feel like I want to just ask the manager to ring me up. Sometimes they don’t give a spoon, and God forbid If you have the gall to ask them for one of the soft cookies; they’ll look at you like you have 2 heads. I used to try to initiate conversation to make the cashiers smile but have long since abandoned that. Not sure if they have rough home lives, bad managers, or what but I avoid Ashby’s when I can except when I really really want their soup which is incredible. And again, in fairness, the guys who serve the soup are very nice…

A big old meh. Place is too small for the amount of customers. There’s nothing special about their soups, salads, or sandwiches. I get turkey sandwiches to go when I need to work into lunch hour. Staff are unsmiling and quick. Yep, a big old meh about covers it.

Venture here out of necessity(i.e. there is a life-threatening snowstorm outside and you’re wearing open-toe sandals). There is nothing bona-fide about the food that is being served. Soups are not freshly made and are over-salted. The soups are pre-packaged in large plastic bags, emptied into vats and heated up in time for lunch. They will run anywhere from $ 6 to $ 9. The salads are made-to-order, but they will nickel-and-dime you on the toppings. If you want additional toppings, prepare to pay $ 1 for each selection. Breakfast foods are a slightly better option in terms of value and price, but not by much. The pastries are ordered from a third vendor, so if you want a cheaper option, head to the in-building convenience store, or to Manon for fresher tasting muffins. Service is ok. The cashiers are quick to get you in and out the door, which is most appreciated during the lunch hour stampede. Tip: Get the pastries or the yogurts at 3pm or afterwards. They are 50% off.

Very very basic deli located in a corporate building. The food is average and mainly caters to the building tenants who don’t feel like venturing outside of the building(that why I use it). I come here for a quick bagel on some mornings or a salad on days when it’s too cold or I’m too lazy to go outside. It’s extremely convenient for those who work in the building, but otherwise it’s not a place not worth coming to. The salads are certainly a better value than just about anywhere else, but it’s definitely not that enjoyable. The service is lightning fast and so is the checkout process, but that’s about the only plus. This place is about convenience and nothing else. Definitely go elsewhere.

Inside 120 Broadway, I went to this place as my office was right upstairs. My chicken Panini sandwich for $ 7 – 8 was actually made fresh to order and quite tasty. For breakfast, although the eggs weren’t made to order(which is faster for those in a rush), but a small platter of egg whites and home fries for $ 3.50 was a good way to get my day started instead being starving until lunch.

While the line at 8am is often long, it goes by surprisingly quick. I’m usually in and out in ten minutes tops. I had the egg and cheese on a roll. I would prefer if they offered sliced bread or bagels for the sandwiches instead of just the roll or wrap option, but nonetheless, the food was good enough. Nothing too special but satisfied my morning hunger. For my lunch visit here, I went with a ham and cheese panini. I didn’t enjoy it but it was my own fault for not ordering without mustard(which I despise)… but if you like mustard, they absolutely slopped it all over the sandwich. Ashby’s offers something like 20+ sandwich options for lunch so there is certainly variety here. One huge negative is the lack of seating. I think there were 4 – 5 bar stools at the most. I’d suggest walking down one block and eating in the park if the weather is nice. Overall, Ashby’s is a decent choice for breakfast.
