Bella Luna

I have a romantic bent for Bella Luna: it was the first restaurant my husband and I went to when we visited the Upper West Side, and it continues to be a favorite now that we live here. I have eaten here for lunch and dinner, and in a large group, where they graciously agreed to do separate checks for us.
Bella Luna makes its own Limoncello, which is fabulous; their own tiramisu which is exquisite and fresh, and their service is consistently marvelous. We were served by Derek tonight. He not only made sure everything was out on time, when he noticed I had gotten some chocolate on my sleeve, he went and got some club soda and a white cloth to blot my sweater clean. This is the level of service you receive here.
The veal Parmesan is wonderful. I honestly wasn’t that happy tonight with the seafood linguini dish: it seemed a bit watery and tired. The bread, as usual was great, and keeps on coming.
This will always be our ‘special’ place: we see the owner often, we know the waiters, we always feel welcome.

Another great meal from start to finish! Nicely prepared food and super affordable prices. Good service and cute dining room. I just wish I lived closer to make more frequent trips. I am just sad to report that Candice no longer works here. I really miss her. She was the best bar tender!

The $ 20 prix fixe is the best deal on the Upper West Side and includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert. The food is always reliably good! I love the fish special and the kids love the calamari and penne vodka. This is absolutely the best place to host a large brunch, bridal shower, pre-​bachelorette party, etc; it’s very affordable for a large group and the service is fantastic. It is by far our family’s favorite restaurant.

I’ve had lunch here many times with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. We always enjoy our experiences at Bella Luna – the food is excellent at very reasonable prices, and the staff is lovely about letting us sit and sit and sit for hours as we catch up. This is by far my favorite place to meet friends for lunch on the Upper West Side! Call your friends and invite them to meet you here. You will have a great experience!

What a nice little place I stumbled upon. They have a really nice menu, with some good happy hour and food specials. They have some smaller plates and lower prices with littler portions, but I find that really appealing. The penne a la vodka that i had was incredible and I added some shrimp, which was a good idea. They had all of your classic Italian favorites, with some twists and unique dishes as well. The service was great. Everyone working from the bartenders to the waiter was really friendly and helpful, recommending things on the menu and letting us know of their specials, etc.
The restaurant has a decent amount of seating and a nice outdoor space to eat, when it’s not so cold. They also have delicious bread that comes with every meal, something I could easily fill up on and that they keep refilling. They also had some cheap wine specials that were really nice and not crappy wine, but really nice wine. I would definitely be back and highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for good Italian food in the area.

I will make this short and sweet. I am giving Bella Luna a 1 star rating because of their seemingly strict $ 20 delivery minimum. I say strict because I attempted to order lunch for myself today and was denied delivery over the difference of about $ 3.00. Really? I already added on to the order in order to pad the bill but was still short so no delivery for me. I understand why minimums are put into place but use some common sense when deciding whether $ 3.00 is worth losing business.

We are celebrating the holidays with friends and this is a perfect place! We started with a nice bottle of wine and appetizers. Bread is to die for! We had tomatoes and mozzarella, incredible fried calamari and a delicious hot appetizer plate! Salads were a nice portion and fresh! Two had spinach ravioli which is fresh made but not on the premises, one had marinara and the other bolognese. Other entrees were white clam sauce, eggplant parmigiana, and I had veal piccata… everything was well prepared and delicious… we will definitely be back!!!

Ate here on 10÷9÷2015, had the prix fixe dinner, it was very good. The manager or owner (not sure) gave us 2 lemoncellos and a tiramasu on the house when he saw we were celebrating my sister’s birthday. He even sang happy birthday with us! The ambiance was great, clean and roomy. Only con was the seemingly surly waiter, otherwise everything was fantastic! The calamari was delicious and my pasta with Italian sausage so tasty. Not to mention my strawberry ice cream had real strawberries! I will definitely be coming back to Bella Luna to eat again.

Great deal on the UWS! They have multiple $ 10 pasta entrees, and give you some great sized portions! House wine is a steal at $ 5 a glass. They have great outdoor seating, too! Will definitely be back often!

Being here for the first time the food was good but the best thing in this place is the attention from the waiter. It was like eating at home.

I was working in the neighborhood so I got a salad to go.
Got the Chicken Salad: Arugula, grilled chicken, crisped wild mushrooms, olive oil, garlic (10.95).
It appeared small, but was actually quite satisfying. The three fillets of grilled chicken and the two pieces of hearty Italian Bread that came with it filled me up.

Was waiting to hit a good restaurant since lately it seems like all my reviews are 2 or 3 stars. This place is such a gem! Everyone in my group enjoyed their entrees, but I had the ravioli and it was divine! Probably the best ravioli I’ve eaten in years.
Other than that… nice interior, great for groups. Entrees are reasonably priced and they have a 3 course menu for $ 20. Can’t beat that!

Had brunch here today with my mom and we had a lovely time. I had my dog with me, so we sat outside and they brought him a dish filled with fresh, cold water. I love the attention to detail. Mimosas are 2 for 1 during brunch and they were delicious. I had the spinach omelette with red peppers and ricotta, served with a spring mix salad. Loved the combination of fresh flavors. My mom had the chicken pesto panini and she also enjoyed her meal. We will definitely be back to check out their dinner service. Grazie Bella Luna!

Wonderful bread and entrees that are quite reasonably priced.
The ambiance is also great and the hosts/​servers are generally polite and hospitable.

I was in area and found this place on Unilocal.Let me begin by saying it is pretty cheap, all of entrees and even the wine. The food is decent. Nothing to rave about. I ordered tagliatelle bolognese and my boyfriend had fettuccine alfredo. They were both good. The service was mediocre. I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

Its a pleasure to not spend an arm and a leg yet still be satisfied with the food service and ambience.

Cons– the chairs in this restaurant are dirty and old and should have been replaced 5 years ago.

Open just shy of 30 years, Bella Luna has survived through some of the worst («recent») economic crises of NYC. This alone should tell you something.
The food is great, the service is excellent and the ambiance is warm and inviting. It does not hurt that the portions are large and the bill won’t leave a hole in your pocket.
I have been coming here for 29 years and plan on coming for 29 more. Anything on the menu is worth ordering. My favorite is an appetizer– the calamri (among the best I have eaten).

A solid New York italian restaurant. The sausage and egg plant parm were great!
Skip the dissents, they suck
