So happy we came here. This place was very welcoming and amazing ambience. The food was incredible. We started with ceasar salad which was fresh and good. We ordered penne pasta, branzino fish and cheese ravioli and everything was perfect. I think I found my favorite place when I want pasta or fish. Dessert was good and so was cappuccino. Very satisfied and happy to done here. Highly recommend this place.

Hubs and I have lunch here with our dear friends who live in the area. It has become a bit of a tradition. We sit at the same table every time, everyone orders the same exact thing, and everything looks and tastes exactly the same.(Salmon, brook trout, seafood linguine and gnocchi pesto. Consistently good for over a decade.) The menu is reasonably-priced, old-school Italian, though recently they’ve started offering brunch. It’s a nice little restaurant with cheery yellow walls, vintage posters, big windows and French doors to let in lots of sun. The waitstaff is efficient and not intrusive, but not very friendly either. It’s not a «destination» restaurant or anything, but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it after a day at the museum or park.

Great atmosphere with live music, but my friend was given the wrong dish and my spaghetti carbonara was loaded with onions, yet onions weren’t listed in the description. Even so, the amount of onions included was ridiculous.

There is a new owner — — - sadly, sadly, sadly. The woman ruined a wonderful restaurant. It was an unassuming neighborhood gem where you could get straight forward Italian dishes prepared beautifully. ITWAS. Not anymore. After 2 bad meals, we’re done with Pesce Pasta Upper West.

Lovely place for a quiet business lunch in the neighborhood. Try the antipasto plate if available. Otherwise the Caesar salad with warm grilled chicken cutlet strips is absolutely delicious.

really dark, then they turn down the lights even more! could barely read the menu and I have 20⁄20 vision. good place to bring an ugly date ;-) it’s a decent place, food was ok, typical italian. the service was very attentive, no problems there. but we had a loud family next to us, so with the dim lighting and screaming kids, it was a difficult place to enjoy. I’m sure I’d raise the score to a four star if I go again, but that experience was tough.

I have walked by this place and every time I say to myself I cannot wait to eat there because it smells so good! I went to one on East 87th and Third avenue before and I enjoyed the experience. I loved their stuffed artichoke so I was excited to check out this location. Sunday night we walk in and am a little confused on who is suppose to seat us. I felt a little unwelcomed from the start, maybe it was in my head. I was excited to get the stuff artichoke again and ordered it right away and was told there was not any artichokes that evening. Bummer. On the menu there were specials of the day. I am not sure of any more the waiter never mentioned anything or tried to suggest anything. The appetizers did not sound that great(besides the artichoke I wanted!) We asked if they could do fried calamari fortunately they said they could do it =) I got the veal piccata and pasta on the side. I said yes to the cheese which killed the pasta bummer again. The veal had a tastey sauce and I enjoyed it. The weird part was how the wait staff threw things on the table. I never have witnessed someone moves items on the table in such a harsh abrupt way. It was really alarming. Everyone was nice but it just did not feel like good service or any friendly feeling. I don’t think I would ever return.

Small neighborhood restaurant. Food is excellent. Order the specials.

I loved the linguine shrimp calamari, until I inspected it. I thought a bit was a garlic clove(which is totally ok) until it was a part of SQUID(which is not ok… other than typical ‘calamari’) .this part which I though was garlic was some sort of squishy thing that in two seconds exploded all over my hand and arm. I later found out this is the dirty part of calamari. Then I was informed of the health department grade of ‘B’. That must explain the raunchy squid explosion.

Very comfortable place. The food is good. Not great, but good. Service was excellent. And the wine prices are outstanding for New York. $ 25 for a drinkable wine with your meal is a nice plus.

We were looking for a good close-by Italian restaurant one night and decided to come here. I REALLY wanted to like it, but it was not the best dining experience. It was crowded in the restaurant, so it took a while for the waiter to take our order. The olive oil on the table was not good at all… this was disappointing since we waited a pretty long time for our appetizer. We got the sautéed broccoli rabe, which was just ok. The entrees were totally forgettable and not worth going back for. Totally underwhelming overall.

I had lunch here today with my department head. It is a nice little Trattoria, tastefully decorated with a friendly staff. I was disappointed that they do not have a lunch menu but happy they have decent Italian bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table. It would, however, have been nice had they first warmed the bread. We had the antipasto della Casa with was a combination of vegetables including olives, endives, Brussels sprouts and more. We also ordered a plate of cheese, salami and roasted peppers. Although they were prices a bit high, the food was very good. While the food we ordered was not exceptional, it was good and I would come again and try some of their dinner dishes.

An Italian restaurant isn’t supposed to run out of bread. I hadn’t been here for a few years– thought I would give it a try. I had the squid with black ink which was pretty good– there was some sauce left over and I asked for bread only to be told they ran out. It really put a damper on the meal— the restaurant wasn’t crowded, there was no reason they couldn’t send someone out to get some bread. There must be 5 places within a 5 block radius where they could have gotten some. I must say I do like the simplicity of the menu. It’s an unpretentious place. But no bread in an Italian restaurant left me walking away with a bad taste in my mouth.

A decent, reliable neighborhood place. Very good bread, fried calamari, cold antipasto is great. Pasta, fish dishes, all good. Service is usually fine. We live nearby and always feel like we get what we pay for. Never feel rushed. Nice to sit outside when the weather is nice.

First off, my huge beef with this place — their awful, RANCID olive oil that sits out on each of their tables that you’re expected to pour into your little white dish and dip your bread into — or God forbid — drizzle onto your veggies or main dish. Why? If you must watch your margins to that degree and buy the oldest, cheapest crap out there for your restaurant — at least cook it into the sauces in the back and spend a few pennies more to put some decent oil out on the tables for the customers to use raw on their food. But aside from that, I actually think this place isn’t half bad — for a neighborhood joint I can walk to. I wouldn’t take anyone here I was trying to impress(do they even have a wine list, or is it all ‘house’ wine?), but I go for the meatballs, which I get a strong craving for every now and then. Their red sauce isn’t half bad — a decent balance of sweet and tart — and they do a pretty good broiled veal chop as well. Their portions are huge, so even though the prices seem a little high for a neighborhood pasta joint, at least you order knowing you’ll have plenty left over for lunch the following day. So Pesce Pasta, you will probably see me again the next time your meatballs call out to me while passing by — but please, PLEASE do us all a favor and get that rancid, offensive olive oil off the table. I’d be more than upset if I’d ruined my dinner by pouring it all over my food without tasting it first. You’re Italian — you know you can do far better.

We came here on a Friday night. The place was pretty busy inside. It took the wait staff awhile to get us water and bread but our waiter when he did show up was friendly. We asked for a scallop appetizer which they did not have, just a scallop dish as a main course, but he said he could accommodate us and make it as an app. Very cool of them As far as the food goes 1. Scallops in butter and garlic– Gordon Ramsey would have sent them back. There was no sear on them and a couple of them were RAW! The sauce was good tho and we dipped our bread in it. 2. Sirloin steak– nice cut of meat, good size and for 24 $ not bad overall. IT came with some roasted potatoes and choice of pasta and sauce(we got penne with olive oil and garlic). The pasta was awesome– al dente and delish 3. Lasagna bolognese– melted in your mouth. Very rich tho I would give the steak and lasagna 4 stars. But the scallops and the attitude of the manager 2 stars. The poor waiters were running around and the manager didnt do anything to help them. Not even expedite food, as people were waiting quite a bit for entrees.

Terrible service, food tastes fine. The owner/head chef is a raging a$$hole. Avoid this place unless you’re looking to be grossly offended.

Food was fine but the owner was giving us terrible service. I brought in a large group and once it came time to pay the bill the owner refused to put $ 25 on one persons card. The rest of the bill was cash. It was ridiculous. The owner didnt want to put the meal on the books by having one charge from credit card. We brought in close to $ 500 in business at the end of the night and we were treated terribly. When we left and told him we wouldn’t return he told us he didn’t care. I will never return and I’m appalled at the lack of appreciation from a business owner. Do not go.

Oh, I love and miss this place. My closest friend lived on the UWS for many years. We’d drive down to NYC for the weekend on Friday nights and always end up there after our trip. It is just the perfect place and we were always craving its food. Yummy pasta, fish, antipasti, fresh, homemade, wonderful quality ingredients. There was something so nice and homey about getting to the city, walking a few blocks then soaking up the red wine and yummy food, sitting at a table with red checked table cloths in a charming, cozy neighborhood gem that was always busy but never mobbed. My friend moved out of NYC in 2007 and, though I’ve been to the city since then, I have not made it back up to the UWS. Next trip we’ll make it a priorty to get up there!

This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with fresh delicious seafood, and a varied menu of Italian favorites at reasonable prices. The dishes are excellent portions, you won’t leave hungry. They have a very nice selection of wines by the bottle or glass, and a good selection of less expensive house wines either by the glass, half carafe or full carafe. And of course, they have a full bar. They also have a nice antipasti table, and the waiter will make up a dish with any combination you chose. You won’t find a better family restaurant for the money, but if you’re looking for romantic or quiet, this spot may not be for you. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for good fresh food, fast service, and reasonable prices.
