I gave them 5 shirts to clean. The lady made me a bill out for 6 shirts. Wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t checked. She corrected it when I went back. I’ll put that down to an honest mistake. Fine.
I picked up the shirts after the date they’d said. Looked all clean and nicely pressed. But when I took one out to wear, noticed big yellow stains on the cuff. I took the shirt back a few days later to get it recleaned, and they wouldn’t do it without charging me the price difference for a dry cleaning (even though one of the three women working there initially offered to do it for free, at least that’s what it seemed). They made it look like it was my fault, and that I should have brought it in sooner (like I wear all my clothes the very next day to see how they turned out). When I insisted that I shouldn’t have to pay anything they returned my shirt.
For $ 4.50 and lack of common courtesy they just lost my business, and I live in the same building so would have used them often. Skip the headache.

Much improved since my first review. Prices are little higher but you get what you pay for and this is good quality dry cleaning and wash & fold. Delivery service is timely and convenient.

This place sux. The owners are mean and they stained my jacket. Go up the block definitely

DO NOT GO HERE. They just charged me $ 112 for simple laundry. Not even dry cleaning!!! This is outrageous. I can’t believe I just paid over 100 dollars at a laundromat. This woman is extremely rude, and when I complained about this outrageous price she just told me to never come back again. Well of course I’m never coming back and after reading all the other reviews, I’m sure nobody’s ever coming back there. There are PLENTY of other laundromats that are cheaper and nicer than this outrageous place near Stuy town.

I’ve never in my life spent time writing reviews but This place should not be allowed to exist. Worst service, worst people that manage it, SO RUDE AND INSENSITIVE I called them 500 times and they kept hanging up on me because they don’t speak English. They told me that they would deliver my clothes (since they weren’t ready when they said the would be) at a certain date, and failed MULTIPLE times. The Chinese lady kept screaming and cursing at me in her language and all I wanted were my clothes. Finally, they were delivered in horrible condition, my clothes shrank, got completely ruined, and it’s so absurdly overpriced. Somebody should close this place ASAP.

I am simply creating a Unilocal account, which I have put off due to a lack of caring and laziness, simply so people stay away from this place and never have the painful experience of dealing with this…
If zero stars was a thing… they would get –1. I simply came here because it was closest and hoped all the other reviews were simply a few bad experiences… they weren’t angry enough…
Not only will no one take responsibility for losing items of clothing, they won’t even say sorry. They even go as far as to yell at a customer telling us we are wrong and we lost our clothes we dropped off and haven’t seen since. They delivered the clothing and have on file we picked it up, probably just to help with the excuses. The clothing was literally brand new, never worn, just bought. I think I would know if I got it back?
I’ve gone twice and both times something either wasn’t done correctly or this time it was lost. On top of being a joke if business based on what it’s services should entail, they are rude, yell at customers, just walk away from conversations, don’t even bother to try to look around when asked nicely and most importantly, they lie. They lack integrity and for that they can and should never be used.
Stay away, stay far away. I implore you to stay away. In fact, with ZERO dry cleaning experience and equipment of my own I would prefer to do laundry for anyone instead of going there, since the experience would be way better and nothing would get lost… or an even better idea would be to use any other laundry/​dry cleaner ever in the world, ever.

Sometimes you read a bad review and think someone just had a bad day, or a singular bad experience. Then you read several bad reviews and think hmmm, maybe there’s something to this.
Everything I’ve read here is true.
I’ve used this cleaners for years because it’s the closest to my house. However, it is more expensive than any other I’ve been to in the area.
Also, Shirts are often not ironed well
The biggest issue is what’s clearly stated in so many reviews here,
The woman who runs the store is not very nice. She’s fine when everything is good.
But if there is an issue, any issue she will never and I mean NEVER accept responsibility.
I actually once had an attendant in the store call me to the side to rectify a problem that the manager was refusing to acknowledge.
So if you’re looking for convenience in Sty Town? PCV this is it. Just hope there’s never an issue, Because customer service has never made it to Berkely Sutton Cleaners!

They ruined 2 pieces of tailoring that I took to them and blamed it on me because I was a new customer. The worst customer service I’ve ever had, the woman who runs it hung up on me when I called. Stay away!!!

WARNING!!! DO NOT USE BERKELY SUTTON CLEANERS SERVICES
I dropped off my husband’s $ 270 dress shirt for dry cleaning on 3÷17÷12 and requested spot treatment on a stain. I even followed up with a phone call after I dropped off the shirt because I did not feel confident in the associate handling my dry cleaning. Instead of dry cleaning the dress shirt Berkely Sutton Cleaners washed the shirt and shrunk it, made the stain worse and now the shirt is completely unwearable. When my husband complained to management they were extremely rude and aggressive towards my him and said it was not their problem. Berkely Sutton’s negligence ruined the dress shirt and would not provide any solution to help solve or repair the damages Berkely Sutton caused. When I separately called the dry cleaners to speak to the owner /​manager of Berkely Sutton Cleaners they pretended that they were not in the store. I could hear a women yelling in the background telling the associate on the phone to tell me that she was not in the store.

Where to begin. I have never had such a terrible and stressful experience at a business. I have been hearing more anecdotal evidence of how awful this place is, but here is my story: I was yelled out of the business after 2 pairs of pants were first hemmed to long… and then too short. I was berated for asking they be made the correct length, even providing a pair of pants that fit so that they could be used to establish the correct length, because apparently that is way to hard. Mind you I paid ~$ 75 to have this service provided. I was screamed at for 5 minutes before finally giving up and leaving, explaining that I would be forced to dispute the charge (I’m gonna have to pays someone else to fix her mess). What a total nightmare. Not only am I out the $ 70 sum odd bucks, but this saga, from start to finish, took almost 2 weeks. I know it is convenient for those of you who live in PCV/​ST, but please heed my warning… take a little walk to ANY other place and your life will be much easier. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. If 1 star means this is the worst business I have ever heard of, then my rating is correct.

1 star too many. Nasty woman runs the place and their tailoring is an atrocity. These hacks destroyed a $ 400 blazer of mine and yelled at me for the trouble. If you have to walk across town for a different option its worth it. GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

Hardly worth ranting here but as the only conveniently located dry cleaners for those of us who live along the East River in PCV or Stuy Town, you can’t blame me for wishing Berkely Sutton could deliver decent service.
If you’re only looking to have shirts laundered and boxed, it’s fine.
If you’re looking to have assistance with stain removal, you’d best go elsewhere.
If you’re looking for friendly customer service, ROFL, don’t cross the threshold. While I’ve not been on the receiving end of one of the owner’s nasty tirades to customers, I’ve seen it happen and it’s dour indeed.
With regard to the stain removal – there will always be stains that can’t be cured, and I don’t expect a dry cleaner to work miracles. However, if said cleaners tries and utterly fails to remove the stain, is it too much to ask that the failure be brought to my attention before I get home and see how completely useless their efforts were?
At Berkely Sutton the answer is invariably: YES, it would be too much to ask.
Lesson learned (again): I need to walk longer distances to get adequate cleaning services.

The woman who runs this establishment is rude which is ridiculous because they are the most expensive place in the neighborhood.
Whenever I went there she gave me problems for using a credit card to pay. If you are going to take cash only then say so.
I’ll go to the place around the corner with better reviews from now on.

I am a guy. I have used this cleaner multiple times. Good people. I like how my shirts come out. They seem to use a lot of starch, but I like that. Collars are very crisp. I don’t notice it being more expensive than other cleaners. Prices are listed in open view.

NEVER GO HERE! They actually damaged a coat I purchased last season and the boy helping me didn’t say anything when I pointed it out, the woman in the store kept telling me I must have known it was there before I brought it in, because it was «so tiny.» The tear was right on the front of the jacket! I used to work in a professional dry cleaners throughout college and know that all damages should be marked. I’d never been so insulted in a shop before, the woman and I got into an argument-​talk about terrible customer service. I left the jacket for her to fix but it was the WORST experience I had ever had, not to mention the prices are higher than every other dry cleaner in the neighborhood.

First let me say that up until last month I had no problems with this establishment other than the high prices.
On ¹⁰⁄₆ I brought them a vest, jeans and a raincoat. I put them in my closet unwrapped. Later on in the month I unwrapped the jeans and the raincoat. No problem.
Last week I noticed that my closet and especially the clothes hanging on either side of the vest smelled like cheap perfumey hairspray. When I unwrapped the vest, it reeked of some kind of solvent that smelled EXACTLY like that car deodorant stuff they sell in car washes. The kind with the wick you see on some taxi dashboards. Awful.
Yesterday I brought the vest back to the store and the first thing I noticed was that the place smelled exactly like my vest.
I told the woman at the counter the problem and she stared at me, said nothing for almost a minute before looking up my account. I said that by the way I smell the same odor in your shop as in my vest. She started shouting at me-«We don’t clean the clothing in this store! What do you want me to do-​you brought this in a month ago. I said, «I don’t know about that, it just smells funny». She then made a big show of smelling the garment herself and said «I don’t know what you are talking about, I don’t smell anything, maybe you are too sensitive!»
I took my vest and left. This kind of service and behavior is unacceptable.
Now I have to take it someplace else and have it cleaned again. Unbelievable.

I work in a professional business office and have to maintain professional attire. I took my work shirts in thinking dry cleaning shouldn’t be such a problem for such a business. A couple of the shirts had slight ‘ring-​around-​the-​collar” which has always come out for me when I wash them myself and I wanted them starched. And they were a day late. I was charged full price for basically a wash & iron and no starched was used. I was very upset and probably won’t be back. Ended up taking my shirts to another cleaners (who removed the ‘ring-​around-​the-​collar’ and starched them.

This is the worst cleaner. They ruin your clothes and charge you more than an arm and a leg. I was already reluctant to go back because of the overpriced dry cleaning fee, but I gave the benefit of the doubt and gave it another try. This time, I had to hem my pants.
I have never experienced such bad customer service. How could you yell at your customers. Trust me and save your pants money and your voice. The owner/​lady will start yelling at you for even complaining that you don’t like the hem. She has the worst temper. Ugh! I hate the place!

Service was acceptable but the prices are outrageous. I had 1 dress and 2 suits cleaned and they charged me $ 49. I’ve never in my life paid near this much to have anything drycleaned in NYC. They are definitly taking advantage of the fact that they are the only drycleaner that’s convenient to people this far east. I will not be back.

This was the most horrendous dry cleaning service experience of my life. Someone else’s clothes were delivered mixed up in my clothes and when I returned the clothes that were not mine to the Berkely Sutton (BS) they refused to refund me the amount, even though it was not my clothes they were charging me for. My 187 dollar dry cleaning bill was probably half mine and half someone else’s. Their refusal to even admit fault in delivering someone else’s clothes has me concerned that not all my clothes were returned to me. I WOULD NEVER EVER USE BS AGAIN. They are not to be trusted with your clothes and seemed not at all concerned that they had sent me someone else’s clothes. If you want to see your clothes again do not send them here.
