Best Buy Mobile – Union Square

buyer beware!!! went to this store to upgrade my phone… was told the gift card could not be used to the phone and only accessorizes to try to up-​sell me. Left the store because the person had no idea what they were doing. Also left because the store manager was cursing at a couple after they left right in front of myself and mother because they were from another country and could not understand what she was saying. So I took my business to another Best Buy. Tried to come back here today ¹⁄₁₀ at 1040am. To return the note 5 that I purchased at another best buy was told that they could not help be since I did not purchase at a mobile store. Called customer service to see if that was true. The woman from Customer Service said that was 100% false and 3way called the store. She explained that Best Buy is Best Buy and it does not matter after she read the return policy the woman from the store asked for me to come back in and she would help me. Well obviously did did not feel comfortable going back to someone for a return after I was just lied to.

Travelling from Australia, and Marvin was incredible. So helpful! The best assistant we’ve had in months. Awesome!

I just got a new iPhone 3 days ago and needed a case for it. Guy says I should’ve bought the iPhone from them, they could’ve gotten me a better deal. Typical salesman who is full of sh*t.

Avoid this hole at all costs unless you want some parasite trying to scam you into buying something. No wonder I prefer to shop online.
Never really had a problem with BestBuy until now. Will never buy anything from them from now on.

Angela, the store manager, is absolutely awful. Like previous reviewers mentioned, she lacks basic communication skills and shows no interest in assisting customers. This store put a new case on my new 6s. Upon removing the case 2 weeks later, I realized the case was missing a part. I took the case back with the receipt but was denied an exchange because my case was not brand new. Duh. I explained THEY put the case on and should have noticed the defect; I couldn’t detect the defect until I removed the case. Angela said that the worker shouldn’t have put the case on for me but there was nothing she could do for me. I was incredulous. Awful, awful customer service.

Angela is the store manager here and I’m sure is the reason for all the negative reviews. Absolutely the worst customer service experience. She failed at even the basics of treating someone like a human — eye contact, speaking clearly, engaging in conversation, asking how she can help, etc. Every moment with her she gave me the stank eye, rolled her eyes, mumbled «I can’t help you». And when I tried to return my phone, she couldn’t do that too even though I showed her Best Buy’s return policy on the site. She couldn’t be bothered. Ended up crossing the street and returning it there. Totally worthless.

This place is like the ninth circle of Dante’s Hell… there are no words I could offer to describe the awfulness of this store. I would literally rather star myself repeatedly with a rusty form all over my body than spend time here. I am a very forgiving person, but I legitimately hate this place with the fiery passion of a rage I never knew was inside of me. The staff is incompetent and unpleasant about it. They take hours to do what would take a normal, decent human being 15 minutes. They don’t explain things and then get angry at you for asking questions. They should all be fired and sent to a small island in order to ensure that no other store somehow hires them.
This is like the Westboro Baptist Church of stores — everything about it is bad and it should be gone from this earth.

In a cell phone driven world, we all have spent countless hours in stores like this frustrated and longing to leave ASAP. Laura and Schmindy make this store fun and easy. My husband and I went in to trade our iPhones in for an upgrade. Never before has this process been so seamless. Listen to the staff, they will not steer you wrong and they get the best deal tailored to you and your needs. And to be right in Union sq, they get you in and out quickly for the volume of customers in the store. Loved our experience.

What a customer service train wreck.
We stopped in yesterday (¹¹⁄₂₉) to trade-​in an old iPhone (using the $ 100 promo) and to upgrade to the iPhone 6. We shared this information – as well as a good bit of personal information re: our account – with a tablet-​wielding minion and were promptly escorted to the line-​up in the back of the store. We spent 20 – 30 minutes in said line only to find out that the trade-​in promo and upgrade were only available at the Best Buy store (even though we were already informed both were possible here, not to mention that this store carries the Best Buy logo and signage).
Along the way we didn’t receive one smile or polite interaction from the numerous employees that populated this store (over half of whom were doing nothing). Every employee had the same «dead» face, monotone voice, and disinterested disposition. The girl that helped us at the back counter even had the gall to say «you don’t know how to do that» after she stated a couple of things we couldn’t hear. I pointed out that her inaudible tone couple with her obvious attitude were both unhelpful and unappreciated, but I might as well have been conversing with a robot rock (e.g. nothing changed).
Needless to say we left and will never return to this sham establishment again. Best Buy is obviously in a death spiral that is readily fueled by disservice-​oriented locations like this one.
BOTTOM LINE: Avoid this store like the plague. The employees are unhelpful at best and downright mean-​spirited good-​for-​nothings at worst.

Avoid this like the plague. I went to sort out a prepaid phone that I bought from another best buy the week before, where I had been sold the wrong credit pack. Thus wasn’t their fault, but when asking for help, I was assisted, then blatantly ignored while they served other customers and I stood there like an ass. I understand they weren’t getting a big commission from me, but this was just flat out rude. Even if you need to buy a prepaid phone, do it elsewhere, so if they take the time to mess up they might take the time to clean up too.

Best Buy needs to fire everyone that works there.
Bottom-​line– They are rude, thoughtless, and don’t care about the customers. I always had a positive experience in Best Buy stores… NOT IN THIS ONE.
I walked in wanting to upgrade my phone… I explain my service carriers and she tries to sell me the most expensive phone that doesn’t even work with my provider!
Then when I venture off on my own looking at stuff I ask her how much memory this one lower priced phone has and she just up and walks away!
CLOSE THIS LOCATION ASAP AND MOVE THE MERCHANDISE INTO THE ACTUAL BEST BUY ACROSS THE STREET!

I’ve never written a review for anything. I can’t even explain how pissed I was after leaving here.
Before speaking to the sales associate I over hear her telling a polite customer «mam if you have a smart phone don’t you think the smartest thing to do is carry a charger with you at all times?». After that I really didn’t even want to give her any business so I walked over to the best buy across the street and for some reason they couldn’t pull up my account so I was forced to go back to the same associate to get my phone who proceeded to be rude and bitchy. I get my phone 20 minutes later and persists to offer me a $ 29 screen protector and $ 200 insurance for about another 10 minutes. Don’t buy this bullsh*t.so when I get home I realize she never gave me back my id!!! She just set up my new phone service and didn’t even bother calling me to tell me that she still had my id. I thought I lost it on the subway. Anyways so here I am walking back to union square to get my id… What the fuck. Thanks a lot Britney, by looking at the reviews it seems like you’re very good at being consistently bad.

Best Buy has been called out for their shitty customer service in the past, but until yesterday I was seeing improvements. This place should just shut down. The people who say they work there definitely don’t perform the job duties of a sales associate. First of all, Mcdonalds taught us all to always smile at customers and verbally greet them. You’d think Best Buy associates would have the smile and hello there down, along with a «how can I help you today?» or any minor phrase that is slightly approachable. I’m stumped as to how the entire staff completely lacks customer service skills. If you know what you want and have done your own research you’re good but don’t go in with questions about their products, since it’s obvious the associates here aren’t looking to help push sales…

Worst customer service ever. My sister gave me my Christmas gift this past weekend which she bought at a best buy near her out of state. It was a Jawbone Up. However she bought a medium. As they don’t work we’ll if the incorrect size I went to Best Buy today to EXCHANGE the size. They had 67 small bracelets available. However the cutoff date was on the 15^th — before I got it. The manager DARRELL — who had zero customer service ability or sympathy — refused to exchange it claiming the cutoff was the 15^th. No exception. Yet he then told me he did exchanges on the 16^th and 17^th. So he could make exceptions — and of course he could las the manager — he absolutely refused and basically told me tough luck. He was rude cold and was devoid of any customer service skills. He would have rather lost a customer than exchange an item. I didn’t want a refund or credit. Just exchange a size. What is worse customer service than that. WORST CUSTOMER service. They believe in the customer is always wrong.

Worst experience ever!
While wanted to upgrade for a new iphone 5s they are trying to sell invisible cover for the phone worth $ 24.99. Asked the store clerk that they can’t force us to buy the shield with iphone, he said that it’s only what they have available left. You want or not!

I don’t know how often large corporations check their Unilocal pages but I feel this wont hurt. I went in first to purchase a myfi from virgin mobile and the dude that helped me was really nice and helpful and he told me if I wasn’t happy with it I could bring it back within 15 days. It ended up not being what I wanted so I went in three days later I return it where I encountered one of the rudest women ever. First off, she was rude to this woman who yes might have been asking a silly question but she was so ugly about it. Then when she asked why I was returning I told her because I didn’t want t anymore and had no use for it to which she replied «you can’t just bring something back because you don’t want it anymore!» I was under the impression that’s why stores have return programs in the first place. So se gave me an incredibly hard time and it turned out the device was defective but instead of giving me a refund she exchanged it after I repeatedly told her I had no use for it and didn’t want it in the first place. Then she was like «you can always just sell it.» Which was dumb especially since I was within my rights for the return policy in the first place. I took the device and then went across the street to best buy where the guy asked no questions and gave me my money back for this device I had no use for. Never again will I be going their way and hopefully karma or the manager will do away with that menace.

I called the store at the end of the work day before going down to Union Square to make sure they had the phone that I wanted in stock. Phone rang for about 15 times before some answering service picked up with merely a «beep.» I called again thinking I had dialed the wrong number (I had not), and finally a woman picked up the phone and dealt with me in a tone like she couldn’t be bothered. She asked what phone. I gave her the phone model and she said couldn’t sell it to me because «our systems are down.» When would they be up? «I don’t know, they’ve been down since we opened.» Would the system be up some time this evening? «Maybe, or tomorrow.» Maybe it’s a different system, but the Best Buy website allowed me to check to see what phones were in stock at that location. Why ask me for the model number if you couldn’t sell me any phone? I gave her the benefit of the doubt and called two hours later since I had to stay late at the office and finish up more work. 15 rings, answering machine beep. I tried again, same result. It’s 6:15 pm and the store is supposed to be open until 9. If they can’t sell phones because the system is down, what are they doing that they can’t pick up the phone?
Moral of the story: unless you’re close, try to call before you go (if you can get someone to pick up), or better yet, buy your phone somewhere else.
