I actually enjoyed visiting this bar. I went with some dear friends(we’re all from California) and have relocated our lives to this amazing city. But I digress, I really enjoyed the roof area. We went last Monday. Happy hour was happy. Very robust in alcohol yet flavorful. We had margaritas, you can’t go wrong. The bartender, Johnathan(or Jonathan) was super nice. Apparently, we went to the same school and graduated from the same major; however, he graduated years before me. VERYINTERESTING how life will work out. The downstairs was a mess, and since the weather was accommodating this evening, on the rooftop we went. Great conversations. Of course, this is the day before the NY primaries so we had to gab about Sanders and Clinton and Trump’s fuckery *love this word*. Our political conversation might have driven away people sitting around us but that’s typical of the shallow, vapid energies of NYC’s gay-gays. Where are the radical queers?! I will be returning. Thank you, Johnathan(Jonathan) for the amazing conversation. I hope you had a great evening. Everyone take care and God bless. P. S. what the fuck is up with those skimpy clothes. Put some clothes on. Or have men with chest hair. I can’t really get down with the prepubescent chests. Let’s move away from the NAMBLA imagery.

I was a regular till today. Came across a really rude crowd tonight. Being pushed by a black woman who jammed the traffic at the bar while I was trying to reach my drink and there’s a big black dude showed up trying to pick up a fight. I was extremely disturbed by the rudeness. Seems they are getting a ghetto crowd that absolutely has no manners nor rationale. Security woman was extremely rude and aggressive along with the short guy on duty claimed as the manager after I insisted an apology from the bar. They have no respect for patrons. A really low class place period that I no longer wanted to go.

I’ve never seen anyone actually watching sports at this«Sports Bar,» but I guess it’s more of a theme. The bartenders here for the most are are not in any hurry to serve anyone. I was there on 3⁄9 and there were more active busboys and two bouncers working but not enough bartenders. The bartenders appear to be in no hurry to serve drinks. You’d think a place that relies so heavily on the sale of drinks would make that priority. It is not.

Come for the hotties and drink specials but stay for the food. Seriously. A super masculine menu of meat and cheese and fried carbs. The sliders were scrumptious!

Can I just give it zero star? Because I didn’t even get in! Lol. I showed the guy my New York City ID, he wouldn’t let me in, stating they needed state ID. I tried to argue with him, and then another guy came along, telling me they didn’t accept this ID, and showed me a print copy on their door… What a load of crap! I use this ID everywhere in the city, and even in Miami, and not once did I ever get rejected. Just because they are ignorant, does it mean that it’s not government issued? What a joke. I called my friends out of that stupid bar immediately and we went to Therapy and Industry with no problem.

My friends and I went to this bar and walked right out. It wasn’t dirty it just didn’t seem like it was fun or what we read about it. It was pretty dead inside

Your typical Hell’s Kitchen gay sports bar. Haven’t been to the Chelsea location, so I couldn’t tell you the difference is between the two. I highly recommend going downstairs in the winter(more casual atmosphere, fun arcade games), and on the roof in the warmer months. We came here on NYC Pride 2015 and had an absolute blast at the top. All the bartenders wear only their boxers so that’s some nice eye candy.

Stop being cheap and make a woman’s bathroom. It’s so uncomfortable for us men to always have annoying straight women walk in and giggle while we are peeing. Enough of a reason for me to not go to this bar anymore.

So clearly I didn’t come here to flirt… I was a nonfactor to all men here. However, when it’s a good guy friend’s birthday and this is his thing… you let go of the flirting for one night and join the fun at Boxers. It’s just like any other bar establishment… Happy hour is 2 for 1. The food is typical bar fare. Oh, well. there is a lil difference… the bartenders are ripped and wear you guessed it… Boxers.

It’s a smaller venue than the one in Chelsea. The vibe is definitely more subdued and the crowds a bit older. The bar is reasonably priced and there a bunch of haphazardly set up high tables and chairs to the side. I do like this place for pre-gaming before going dancing somewhere else although this has a dance floor in the back. When I’ve gone here, the music’s been very good. It’s a shame that people don’t dance here as much. Basement has a little arcade and bar that is a completely different vibe than on the first floor.

Overall, a decent place for a few drinks with friends. The happy hour deal is good value, otherwise drinks are overpriced and a bit weak. Bartenders are generally beautiful eye candy, but a couple had personalities of a wet mop(especially an obviously straight bartender who just seemed like was forcing himself to be nice) The doorman was simply charming and nice as could be. The clientele is a mixed demographic. The big advantage to boxers is the rooftop bar; weather permitting. Worth a visit as long as you don’t get a bartender with a personality of a stick.

Would like to give it a 3.5. Not enough bartenders to work the crowd. Drinks were pretty weak. The only reason to come here is for the rooftop. Otherwise, it would be a three star establishment

Great to come here during the week for their 2-for-1 happy hour. You can go enjoy your drink on the rooftop when it’s nice out, and is a really great way to end the day. This is my favorite Boxer’s(compared to the one in Philly and in Chelsea) due to this rooftop. I’m not a big sports person, but will come here anyway for the relaxed atmosphere. Not to mention, it’s right near the E train, which is super convenient. I don’t see Boxer’s as the main event for going out in HK(that would be Industry for me, as much as I hate to admit it), but is a great place to start the night, or to come for a drink during the week. During the weekend, the downstairs can pretty dancey and too loud to talk, while the rooftop bar can be too crowded to move. I’ve found, if you don’t mind dealing with smoke for a bit, you can always find space to stand in the smoking section. Since you’re outside, it isn’t too bad.

One star because the bartender wouldn’t take my order and continued to talk to his boyfriend. Perfect way to lose this customer. However they are a good pit stop for the restroom when you are headed to another bar in the area as this place was empty upon arrival. So why again couldn’t you take my order Mr. Bartender?

Both the negative and positive reviews are accurate. It is always a hit or miss with Boxers when I go there. I would 50⁄50 good and bad. My most recent experience was pretty positive. My friend and I decided to grab a drink there before meeting up with other friends in the area for dinner and more drinks. We went up stairs(the rooftop bar and inside bar pretty empty) for drink and service was pretty quick. We ordered our drinks and the bartender was pretty nice. I don’t know his name, but shorter dark haired almost latino looking guy is pretty good and attentive as a bartender and a few of the bartenders who tend upstairs are fairly good to customers. On the flip side, I have had terrible experience there as well. One night my friends and I were there for drinks and it was quite busy. HOWEVER, I was clearly at the bar with plenty of space around me to order a drink at the bar. The bartender skipped me at least 5 – 6 times even though I was there well before the other people who got served drinks. I literally waited there for 5 – 10 minutes for a drink. Not sure if the bartender was just stupid or ignoring my presence. Again, both good and bad experiences. It’s going to be a hit or miss.

My friends and I really needed a place to drink on a Tuesday night in Hell’s Kitchen. I was playing tourist and had no idea where to go so one of them suggested Boxers. A sports like type of bar with a more kick back feel to it. It seemed like an interesting spot and I was down for whatever until we walked in. Immediately some girl was throwing a chair at the bartender and a glass flew across the room. Ratchetness to the max bruh. Though this event does not exactly explain how the establishment is, I was definitely scared and put off for a weekday night. We brushed it off once that group was escorted out so we went up to the bar and had a sat down to try and grab some drinks. Try was definitely what we did. It was at least 15 minutes sitting there looking dumb and waiting for any bartender to give us a drink. The bar was empty too, but service was terrible. I think they were trying to recover from the little incident earlier. My friends and I were just impatient and did not want to wait anymore. We ended up leaving, but I could see how this place may be enjoyable if you were with the right crowd and drinks were actually flowing. It is called Boxers since the bartenders wear only Boxers, but they are hideous huge red boxers that grandpa probably owns a pair too.

My safety was threatened by an employee and the manager did nothing. Several months later, I’m still disturbed at what happened to me and my colleague at Boxer’s Hell’s Kitchen by two of their employees, including the manager on duty. Up until this point, I’d been a Boxers customer since they opened and had participated and recommended the venue for group events, but I will never go back, or patronize any of the Boxer’s locations. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a business. My friends always ask why I won’t go there. This is why: This incident happened on July 8, 2014 at 8:30 pm at Boxers, Hell’s Kitchen: My colleague and I stopped here after work to enjoy the summer air from the rooftop deck. We had two drinks and left at 8:30 p.m. As we came downstairs, I asked my friend to pose with a Modelo, promotional, cardboard cutout item of one of the World Cup players. As I was taking the photo, the security guy said to «hurry up and take it because we weren’t allowed to touch it.» I took one photo of my colleague with the Modelo promotion, then we left that area and were leaving. I took a few more photos outside of the building.(It’s important to note here that I was now on a public sidewalk.) The same security man yelled at us from inside the building and told us that if we took a photo of him«If you take any more photos, you’ll see what happens to you and your phone» implying that he’d break the phone and hurt us. He threatened us with bodily harm for taking pictures. I remind him that we’re on public property. He repeated the threat again. I wasn’t sure if I should call the police or talk to the manager. I told him I wanted to talk to the manager. The security guy, who was the issue, who just threatened us, was already talking to the manager as I approached. When I explained to the manager what happened, he didn’t seem to care, he said, «I need to hear his(the security guy) side of the story,» completely dismissing us, but he wasn’t asking him. He wasn’t making any attempt to resolve the problem. I asked him why he wasn’t asking for my contact information so he could follow up. We had just been threatened by his employee. I was looking for an apology, something, but NOTHING. Here is where it really gets slimy and dark. As I was gesturing with my hands talking to the manager, I touched the side of his arm. Completely non-threatening. It was then he said, «You just assaulted me.» I could not believe my ears. An assault? This was the same type of touch I would give a friend, colleague, my grandparents, a barista. I have never assaulted anyone. This was his out to taking any responsibility. Here I was going to him for help, but when he said that, I felt more threatened than ever, told him to f* off, and left. I don’t know if my words can express how horrible and sleazy this experience was for me and my colleague. Needless to say, I won’t go back or recommend this venue to friends and groups.

Boxers HK is the friendlier, cozier version of the«sports bar» brand. There are actually more places for people to socialize, the bartenders aren’t tools, and that rooftop(whenever you can actually get to it)-que cute! There’s even a «game room.» That’s where the potential really ends. That’s when it actually falls behind Boxers Chelsea( ). Although the lack of décor provides the patrons with much more room to maneuver, it feels more like an empty shell that a low budget bar moved into. There are couches, stools, tables, and some flat screen TVs. Also, the food… nope. C’mon, where’s the brick oven? The fortune of B-HK is its location: a former Italian restaurant with a corner rooftop in Hell’s Kitchen. The location itself is enough to draw a crowd. If it weren’t for that, the other bars would make way more bank.
