A bunch of us were looking for a place for drinks and some food last night and stumbled upon Broken Spoke Rotisserie. We were all so pleasantly surprised how cool the drinks were and how wonderful the food was. The waiter recommended the Rotisserie Chicken which was juicy and flavorful. We also had the pork ribs and the crispy brussel sprouts which were equally amazing. They had a great bartender who was so knowledgeable and gave us some great drink suggestions. It was quite a treat to find a great place among the mostly average bars and restaurant in Murray Hill.

Ordered the whole chicken and the steak fries to share with one other person. We were both really full after and it cost less than $ 25 for the both of us. The fries were just ok, but the chicken was delicious. Was also hoping to try the corn dish that other reviewers mentioned, but they said they don’t offer that dish anymore. Overall great service and food, will be returning.

New place for me. Live on the west side and when I heard we were meeting over here I thought they were kidding. I’m so glad we did! It’s one of my new favorite places. Really fun, casual and rustic place. Started with a Rye, Pear Purée, vanilla bean Old Fashioned. Damn that was good. Had a couple. Great bottle of wine. Had a few starters, sides & mains. Loved them all. Mac ‘n Cheese was so delicious as was my short rib. Fella had the Pork Belly and a Rye Manhattan. Both great. The couple we met had the rotisserie chicken and they absolutely loved it. Great, friendly service all around. Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent food at a great price! We shared a half chicken, two sides(Brussels sprouts and chard), and the warm chocolate chip cookies dessert. We will definitely be going back!

Great funky foodie Restaraunt! Funky in a good way. Great tunes, vibe, staff, drinks, and beautiful tasty food. We had the whole chicken(very good), kale salad(awesome, visually stunning), Mac n cheese(good), shishito peppers(good), pickled things(good), and horchata and cookies(an awesome end to the dinner). Jay was our server and was super friendly and informative in explaining every aspect. We had such a good night. Highly recommended!

Went here on a Thursday night for a casual dinner and drinks with a friend. We went early, around 6pm and it was not busy. But it got packed by the time we left around 8:30. I had their draught pale ale with the soft-boiled egg appetizer to share. It was delicious! The server said it’s one of the most popular dishes and I could see why. I highly recommend it and it’s easy for sharing between two people. For mains we ordered half rotisserie chicken and the beef short ribs. The two plates were the perfect amount for sharing between two people. The ribs’ texture was perfect — it was soft and melted in my mouth so easily! I thought it was interesting they don’t have paper menus. Everything is written on the board but we realized then that we were sitting right beneath it so it was hard to read. Also, there were two different servers that kept checking up on us every five minutes. They were kind but I felt like they were trying to rush us, when the restaurant wasn’t even full. Other than that, a great local joint in Murray Hill — a rarity where people aren’t stumbling in crowded spaces with loud music.

Delicious food but tiny portions. Very cool ambiance– very gastropub-esque. Minimal seating, so I wouldn’t suggest coming during rush hour. They don’t have printed menus– the menu is all written on chalkboards along the walls of the restaurant. The service was awesome. We waited a bit before our food came out and to apologize, they offered a complementary dish of grilled shishito peppers. DELICIOUS. Totally unnecessary because we didn’t feel like we waited very long, but we really appreciated it. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts with walnut purée. The spare ribs are very tender and the rub/sauce is really good. The mac and cheese is very good– not too cheesy but with a tiny bit of a kick because of the poblano. There are two sizes for the mac and cheese. Go for the large instead of the small. The large was tiny enough and for 3 people, we had 3 bites each. I can’t imagine how small the«small» size is. The chicken is very tender but still a bit bloody/undercooked near the bones. Not sure if this is what they were going for. The white meat was pleasantly tender, but also a bit suspicious near the bones. Because the portions were a bit meager, I’m not sure if I’ll be back for dinner. They have happy hours, and I would gladly come if the entrees are a bit cheaper!

This place is great. Great beer selection, good wines, and the food is just insane. The Mac and Chilaca with Poblanos is insanely good. I stumbled across this place walking around and am just feeling lucky. They will do well, check it out. Not loud(you can enjoy a conversation). Eclectic menu, great staff, just a very comfortable and vibrant place.

Solid restaurant and much needed in the Murray hill area. Came here on a double date at 7 pm on a Saturday and got seated right away. Only annoying part was getting seated on bar stools– be prepared to be hunched over as you enjoy your dinner. They welcomed eating family style so we all shared the following: –kale salad(favorite) –Mac and cheese –rotisserie chicken –short rib –milk and cookies for dessert The kale salad had avocado, celery, almonds, paprika, and some other things that made it my favorite dish of the night! The Mac and cheese was good but rich, as expected. A few bites was plenty for me. Rotisserie chicken was pretty flavorful and all around the dishes had a Hispanic flair. Lots of interesting spices in all the dishes. The tortilla that came with it has to go though– so dry. Short rib was tasty but slightly fatty, as most short ribs can be. Quinoa that came with it was nice. Warm cookies came with horchata which was a sweetened rice milk that you dipped the cookies in– pretty delicious! I had a lemon thyme gin drink that was on special that night which was awesome. Would definitely recommend for dinner/drinks if in the area.

Love the food and ambiance but the portions are tiny! $ 5 for an order of steak frites that came with 5 fries. The chicken is very tender and juicy and the rub on the bird made the dish extra special. I always find that chicken is hard to prepare without losing its juices — even the $ 89 truffle chicken from NoMad can’t retain it’s moisture. However, Broken Spoke does it well(and so does Pio Pio). The chimichurri sauce isn’t what I’d expected as it looked to be more like pieces of parsley floating in vinegar vs the customary thick green sauce used to marinade meats. The avocado kale salad is a finely chopped salad mixed with almonds and pickled veggies so you get a different texture with every bite. Lastly the octopus. It’s about $ 13 for one tentacle, approximately 5 bites. Tender and flavorful but still a bit pricey for the type of place. What I appreciate most about this place is their ability to offer a simple menu of classic favorites and add their own special twist to each of their offerings. That sets this restaurant apart from all the rest.

When I saw that this place recently opened in my neighborhood, I had to go and sure am glad I did. We tried: *** Whole rotisserie chicken w/tortillas, chimichurri sauce, and pickled vegetables — the rub on the chicken was bold and more flavorful than most rotisserie chicken I’ve tried. The sides that come with the chicken are all pluses! *** Brussel sprouts w/chorizo and walnut purée — This was my favorite dish and I am now inclined to order it every time I eat here. I am a huge fan of brussel sprouts and the other ingredients just added to the flavor. The walnut purée was so good I put the rest on my toast *** Sardines escabeche w/avocado and toast — not a fan of sardines but my boyfriend is and he liked this dish The vibe of the restaurant is very cool, modern, and hip. Everyone who worked at Broken Spoke was also very friendly and accommodating. We didn’t get any drinks that night but there are lots of wine/beer/cocktail options for reasonable(Manhattan) prices. The only thing I want to know is why the restaurant is called Broken Spoke. I don’t think I saw any wheels inside.

Solid chicken, everything else just decent. Not a bad spot to grab a bite. We dropped by on a Saturday evening, hoping to just snack on a few things and grab a few drinks. We split a whole chicken and had a side of brussels sprouts; the chicken was fairly tender and flavorful, but the tortillas that accompanied it were a bit dry and lacked flavor. The brussels sprouts had decent flavor/preparation but were a bit small and kind of overcooked, so they didn’t really have any crisp to it. I had a pear and vanilla bean old fashioned, which was unfortunately very watered down and not that tasty(although cheaper than your average Manhattan cocktail). Although most of the meal was pretty standard, nothing was terribly expensive, and it’s a pretty comfortable place to hang out and snack on a few things.

Unexpectedly creative concept and high ambitions at this Murray Hill/Kips Bay newcomer. I Unilocaled my way in after catching a movie at Lowe’s. I confess that when I read«Rotisserie» I didn’t picture vaulted ceiling and modern décor with open kitchen and high-stool tables. It was very spacious and comfortable, and the noise level was decent(though my gf found the big, funky, holiday-themed LED star kind of distracting, so we switched seats). Our waitress was over almost immediately and did a nice job explaining the menu and making recommendations. We weren’t starving but we did get enough grub to get a feel for the place. My gf ordered the rotisserie chicken(served with chimichurri sauce, pickled stuff, and tortillas – for, as the woman I assumed to be the owner/manager explained, delivering the food to us – it’s recommended taco style). I tried to be hip and the Duroc Pork, which comes with similar garnish and tortilla accessories. The fermented red cabbage was a great touch and, as a huge fan of all things pickled, I highly approved. Both entrees were excellent, and I took the pork home for lunch the next day. It bears notice that the Mac & Chilaca(baked penne pasta with melted cheese and poblano chilis) is possibly the best mac and cheese I’ve ever hard. I usually love the idea of mac and cheese more than a full serving of it(just way too cloying for me), but THISWASWORTHIT. We shared the app, but I could have put away another serving all by myself. Drink selection was legit(they had an Anderson Valley IPA in cans!). Big, emphatic stamp of approval. This place bring real spirit to the area with bold concepts and deft execution.

LOVE it here. After dining here for the 2nd time last night, I wanted to write a fantastic review. To start, the shishito peppers were some of the best I ever had. For mains, my friend and I split the short rib for 2, which was incredible(and perhaps the largest piece of meat ever placed in front of me). It was cooked perfectly, super juicy and flavorful. The kitchen was a little backed up, so they sent over a complimentary kale salad(which was crispy and crunchy), and some extra vegetables as sides to our main. I thought this was such an awesome(and delicious) gesture. We sat at the bar, so we were able to take in the behind the scenes view of the restaurant(as we had a clear view of the kitchen) — and it was clear that the head chef, along with the main waitress/hostess take a lot of pride in their work, and wanted to ensure that each plate was delivered perfectly(even if that meant taking some extra time). So excited that this newbie opened in Murray Hill, and can’t wait to return!

I was so excited to try a new restaurant in the Murray Hill/Kips Bay area… especially one with good reviews. I was seated at 6:58 on a weeknight. It took me until after 7:00 to waive someone down to come over, and I’d guess the person I got was a manager or owner(blonde). I asked her if they had happy hour deals and she said they ended at 7:00. At this point it was probably 7:02 or 7:03. New restaurant + its your fault it’s after 7 at this point = no bueno first reaction. I was annoyed with her attitude, but decided not to start up with her, especially because it was a new place. Then she goes on to tell me that other people might get sat at my table if I just want to move over now. First of all, I knew other people might get sat, but there were at least 2 other tables open at the time and there was just no reason for her to tell me that when I’m sure she already told the male host who sat me to tell me that; which he did and in a nice way. After this I REALLY needed a drink. So I ordered ordered a glass of wine at $ 12 just to wash down her attitude. Based on Unilocal reviews we had the charred corn… so not that good?! I don’t understand the hype. I’d go so far as to say you can completed skip this. Chicken was fine, but Pio Pio is so much better. We had the shishito peppers, which were EXCELLENT. That was the stand out for us. We also got the swiss chard with spicy peanuts… this is like SUPERDUPERSPICY. So unless you’re looking for that«my mouth is burning» kick, skip this. The seating is also all high tops with like metal stools; not something I find comfortable at all. Overall, I’d say skip it. If you do go, make sure you go before 7 and waive someone down plennnnnty before that. I won’t be coming back.

Came here with somewhat high expectations due to past reviews and fortunately those expectations were met. First off, the service is great. You can see that they are really trying to show the Customer a good time and they have great appreciation for their food. The décor is nice and comforting. Their kitchen is right in front of you so you can see everything being cooked and prepared which is pretty cool. I was fortunate enough to be there during their happy hour specials and got the cocktail of the day($ 6) of a pineapple vodka cooler. It was good. But their food is most definitely even more amazing. We started with the Mac and Chilaca. Super cheesy and slices of poblano in the dish. Their menu on the website says with chili cheese sauce but it was described as something different at the restaurant. It was delicious none the less. Then we got the charred corn and a whole Amish chicken, both were hefty portions for sharing. I think between two girls we could have definitely done the half chicken but there’s never an issue with having leftovers. The corn had a great crunch to it, nicely balanced between the lime, cojito and mayo. The chicken rub was delicious, skin was nice and crispy with the chicken itself being moist. It also came with pickled vegetables on the side and fresh CORN tortillas, which I love. You can make yourself a nice little chicken taco with all the ingredients. Great ambiance, great food and great service. Two thumbs up to try if you are in the neighborhood.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Looks seemingly like a drunk beer & wings night. More like a ‘Holy shit wtf is this witchery’ night. Definitely have the chicken– you can’t NOT have it. It’s juicy and falls off the bone and comes with pickled veggies. Nothing more you can possibly want, right? Ohhh but there is! The pork is soooo melty and good. Then! Get the charred corn as a side. I also had their tripe mole special which was a little spicy but had deep flavors. I am for sure coming back!

Went here for dinner after work on a Thursday. The atmosphere is great and music fits. It feels like a Brooklyn spot in Midtown. They had a happy hour special until 7pm on wine, beer, and speciality cocktails for $ 6. I had the Cabernet/Merlot blend and it was nice. My fiancé had an IPA and was pleased. For dinner we ordered Shishito peppers as an app and thought they need more salt but asked for some and they gladly provided. Would order the Corn next time. For our entrée we had the Short Rib with chimichurri, steak fries, and a side salad with picked onions. It was delicious! The meat was so tender and fell off the bone. We just thought it need a touch more salt! We will be going back to stay some more dishes. It feels like they recently opened and are still just hitting their stride. Recommend this place!

Two Words: CHARREDCORN! That’s all you need to get here, yes it is a side dish so order 3 to make it your entrée. just kidding, but it is THAT good; but so is everything else. Appetizer: octopus salad, tender octopus on top of a special hummus along with tomatoes and cucumbers.($ 11) Empanada: not an empanada fan to begin with but appreciated this as it wasn’t significantly fried. Paired with a pickled vegetable(cabbage?) and sauce($ 7) Entrees: Pork: very good flavor with crunchy fried outside. Two large servings. Paired with pickled veggies, a sauce, chimichurri, and soft tortillas to create tacos.($ 15) ½ chicken: skin was well seasoned. I think the ½ portion is more than enough for one person. I liked the pickled vegetables that came with chicken over the pork(cucumbers, cauliflower, beans)($ 13) Sides: Charred Corn. Obviously I already spoke for how delicious this is, and it is actually a heaping serving. It includes creamed corn, charred corn, tomatoes, there is lime flavoring in there, topped with Parmesan, some other stuff in there, not quite sure– it’s just amazing– get it!($ 5) Dessert: changes daily. It was an ice cream sandwich, sounded amazing, should have gotten it but had dessert plans elsewhere.($ 7) Happy Hour: $ 6 wine, well, and cocktail of the day(that night was a sweet sangria), and some beer special We sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice, attentive, and helpful– she let me try a few things before I made up my mind to order. Overall, come to this new spot! Well priced, friendly service, great food.
