I’ve been here a few times now and have always had a great experience, this place is very gluten free friendly and has separate fryers for the food as well, over the few times I’ve been I’ve tried the gluten free waffles, French toast, mozzarella sticks which are absolutely amazing, and I’ve tried the chicken friends and grilled cheese with fries! all are which amazing

This is a great place for gluten free people! Delicious food at reasonable prices. Gluten free toast. Finally, diner food I can eat!

Delivery was quick. They came 5 mins before their eta. The vanilla milkshake was decent, but on the runny side. The fries were surprisingly good. I’m not usually a fan of steak fries, but these were nice and crispy. However, the burger was a complete disappointment. I’d been craving a burger and this did not hit the spot. The turkey patty was dry. The onion rings were stale. The bun was soggy from the tomatoes. I had requested no tomatoes, pickle, or cole slaw. They did not oblige. What’s the point of having a «special instructions» section if you’re not going to use it? Basically, the entire burger was crap. It had absolutely no flavor what-so-ever.

So so good. Friendly waitstaff and one of the best breakfasts in NYC. And omg get the breakfast sausage links. They are unbelievably good. Great breakfast place on the UWS

Food is mostly great, the pancakes are fantastic but the eggs benedict isn’t eggs bendict. The hollandaise sauce is a strange cheese sauce. The service however is not good. I was in a group and we arrived at the same time but they got served before we even got waters. The food took a while to come out but was often worth the wait.

Just ordered the chicken pot pie for delivery— to help me deal with a COLD winter’s night in NYC. It was delicious. Great puff pastry crust and delicious filling inside. A very good size, it would surely work for two people.

An update from a recent visit. We ordered french onion soup, caesar salad with chicken and shrimp and belgian waffles with turkey bacon. Their French onion soup, as I reviewed before, is really good. Serving portio is decent. Price is reasonable. The salad is just okay, nothing to get excited about. The grilled chicken is good but what I didnt like are the shrimps. It tasted like its no longer fresh and overcooked. Better not to mess with my shrimp as it is one of my fave seafood… lobster is on the top of my list. Serving portion is a bit smaller than I expected. Price is reasonable. The belgian waffles are good… actually I love it! But the turkey bacons are disappointing. It lacks the crispiness and rich turkey taste that I usually got from other diners/café. I was so disappointed that I think I left 2⁄3 of it untouched. Serving portion is decent. Price is reasonable. I was about to give 2 stars for this visit but since the staffs are nice and the place is acceptably clean I’ll give it a 3. There is still room for improvement guys.

Food like my grandma made! The mushroom-barley soup was thick and tasty. Spaghetti and meatballs were hearty. Both the apple and lemon meringue pies were amazing. The ice cream treated freshly churned. The service was quick and all the staff were friendly. I will definitely add this to my favorites!

Been here twice in two months. Breakfast was tasteless and a bit repulsive, there was a gelatinous blob in my egg sandwich. Maybe uncooked egg(gross), maybe something else(even grosser). Can’t understand why blintzes or French toast would cost $ 10.50, unless they were made with golden eggs. Waitstaff is nice, no complaints there. Never thought I’d say this but across the street at McD’s you’d get a tastier breakfast sandwich much cheaper.

Nice old school diner in the UWS. Friendly staff. Lots of different food options.

I come here often. It’s the family’s go-to diner. The service is great — they remember your preferences and they keep it real. When ordering, keep in mind the essence of a NYC diner. Café 82 does what diners do best. Stopping thinking about your farm-fresh CSA or your favorite oyster bar in Chelsea. Keep it simple and you’ll be happy. Also, their soups are always a great way to start the meal.

Giving it actually a 4.5*** because the bread basket could be way better. Other than that, the food & service was great. I had spagetti & meatballs & the plate was huge! Good for 2 people to eat off & get full. My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger with bacon which came with an order of fries & onion rings. Onion rings were very good & crispy & the burger was tender & moist. Nothing negative to say about the food.

Wanted a quick casual breakfast on a Saturday morning so we stumbled about Café Eight Two around 10 am. It was a beautiful day outside and after passing a handful of restaurants that served breakfast without outdoor seating areas, we were slightly disappointed to see that Café Eight Two did not. We headed inside anyways and it was a true New York diner feel. We were told there would be about a 10 minute wait for four of us, and since there was very limited standing room inside, we headed outside. I decided to keep track of the time because I had a feeling that if we were out of sight, we were going to be out of mind, considering we didn’t put our name or number down on a list. However, five minutes later, someone came out to find us and let us know our table was ready. We weren’t brought to a table, just told to sit at the last booth in the back. Turns out the table wasn’t ready for us when we sat. There was no silverware or cups and it hadn’t been wiped down yet from the guests prior. However, immediately after sitting down, someone came over with a wet rag and wiped the table down followed by drink orders. They had a lot of different kinds of juice on their menu, including grapefruit, which you don’t find everywhere. We did some coffees and a chocolate milk with sides of waters. The coffee was oddly served in cappuccino cups. It was strong and bold and throughout the entire meal people were constantly coming over to refill our cups, a bit too much actually, I found we were saying no thank you every five minutes or so to coffee refills. The menu had pretty much anything you could possibly want for breakfast. Eggs, Lox, Omelettes, Eggs Benedict, Steak & Eggs, Challah French Toast, Pancakes, Waffles, even whole wheat options. I thought the prices were reasonable for NYC and the portions. I went with an egg white veggie omelette which came with home fries and my choice of toast(whole wheat, white or rye) The omelette was massive, I couldn’t finish the whole thing. Home fries were fine, needed a bit more seasoning and the rye bread was good. My friend got eggs with a side of turkey sausage and the sausage was HUGE. I wasn’t a big fan of the corn beef hash, that was a disappointing. It was too mushy, not crispy enough. Overall, people enjoyed their food, bill came to $ 64 for everything. Service was kind and efficient, would definitely come back if I was in the area.

A very typical NYC diner on the UWS that is open late and has a decent menu with sandwiches, soups, dinner specils, and salads. We came at 10:30 on a Thursday night and it was packed with locals grabbing a late-night bite. My roasted portabello salad with spinach was okay, and the burgers are very small and reminiscent of what you would find at a fast-food place. The roast beef and pastrami hot sandwiches are very solid, and probably your best bet here. Prices are very reasonable and it came to less than $ 25 for a burger, entrée salad, and cup of soup, although the burger does not come with fries. Still, it’s open late and the service and seating are solid.

I’m a big fan of this diner, especially because of their HUGEGLUTENFREE menu(yes, an entirely separate menu!). I’ve taken friends here who also can’t eat gluten, and they’re excited to see items you can’t find anywhere else(such as GF mozzarella sticks, waffles, chicken tenders, salad with croutons, french onion soup, sandwiches, burgers, fries, etc). The service is consistent and fast, and most importantly the food is very good. So happy Café 82 is in my neighborhood!

As New Yorkers not everyone is easy to please! That being stated I love the Breakfast here! I always have 2 eggs over easy, rye toast, potatoes AND, More importantly huge, delicious sausages not the piddling pencil thin links you usually get in diners! Reminds me of the old fashioned diners I used to frequent as a kid. I can’t speak for the take out as I never have delivery from them but as far as the eat in food, delicious!

Visiting NYC and had it delivered to my Hotel, wasn’t expecting much but I was very surprised how good the food was. I had very low expectations that got blown away. Food was still hot, got delivered in about twenty min and prices were reasonable. Can’t wait to try the breakfast tomorrow. Breakfast at the restaurant was even better wish I found it at the beginning of the trip!

Due to lack of planning we ended up in this place. There was a wait but wasn’t that long. It’s a small spot and can feel cramped up but they’ll serve you. Food was decent and service was efficient. It looked like there were a lot of tourists here. I wasn’t wowed because well when you’re in NYC, you wanna eat great food including breakfast.

I can’t believe I’ve never eaten here. It’s like the whole proverbial something right in front of my face and I don’t see it because I’m so focused on something else! Awesome. Literally, around the corner from where I live and I’m just now eating here? Gosh, I totally suck. Well, I suck no more because I ate here. I kid you not, the fastest service. I ordered my BLT, bam, within minutes. And it was tasty and rather inexpensive, considering it’s UWS. My coffee was refilled a few times, very attentive. There’s a long line, especially during the weekends and I liked how they just kept it real. Like, you finished eating? Alright, get the hell out of here. I most certainly will be back. Arnold style.
