Wonderful place! Small café, but they have wifi available and its in a nice location. Food was great, especially the gingerbread Chai! I’ve already become a regular there :)

Coffee is amazing. Food tastes great, albeit a café. Service is quick and the workers are always friendly. During rush hour, it can get hectic as the lines get alittle long but the workers hustle to get your order through. Prices are good compared to the other cafes in the area, or across the street I should say.

This place is literally the best. Between college classes I could get a little hungry and craving a sandwich and some drinks. I love their seasonal drinks, like gingerbread chai and the matcha latte is great if you ask them for extra extra matcha. I highly highly recommend the tuna melt, it literally melts in your mouth with a crunchy bread packed onto it. If hungry I recommend the pulled pork, which it is really sloppy but really filling. Orders are moderately fast and the people who work there make me feel comfortable with where I am.

This is the go-to place for the majority of CCNY students and locals. The service is exceptional. The lines move fast. Smiles on everyone’s face, even at 8:00am. The smell of the coffee alone will tempt you. I like to know where my money goes, in this case, it goes to a ma&pa small business. Every time I spend money here, I know that it is helping keep this place going. Some hipsters opened up a coffee shop across the street. Where any business might suffer, Café One thrived. Why? Because they aren’t price gauging and they are there for the community. I love, love, love this place. Sam and Susan are amazing and I will miss them when I graduate.

Horrible cappuccino… tasted like water, foam was like overbeaten eggs. No sugar, she said it had sugar. My egg with bagel was very salty, I thought I might be wrong, made my friend try it, she said it’s salty too. :(Great customer service but I won’t be returning.

Stopped in on a cool rainy day. Line was long, but moved efficiently. Left with a yummy large bowl of soup and large coffee for around $ 8.00! Will return again.

I’ve been a customer here since they opened 11yrs ago and they’ve come a long way & are a real plus to the neighborhood. Everything is pretty good; the hot sandwiches, salads and the variety of yummy soup is consistently good. The coffee is decent, but the muffins and nice variety of pastry are exceptionally fresh and priced right. Although the seating can be a bit tight, I think its cozy & comfy– enough for small group meetings and conversation. The service is stellar and staff unpretentious & nice– I’m sure due to the attentive owners who go above and beyond for their customers.

High quality coffee/deli/pastry shop. My staff comes here every day for coffee, snacks, and often sandwiches. They have wraps, vegetarian options, lots of muffins and cupcakes, quiches, croissants, veggie cups, fruit cups, etc… They are always busy, which we all know is a good sign. There’s not a lot of places to sit, so we always get our refreshments to go.

Good cheap spot to hangout and enjoy fresh food and drink. The only downside is that it gets super congested once the year starts at City College. The friendly staff does its best to handle the rush with a smile and remember your name! If you can find a sweet spot to make your way down then have a sandwich or pastry with your coffee/tea. Don’t sleep on the fresh juice its reasonably priced and delicious!

Seems like a college hang out(cool vibe). But the one thing we tried just wasn’t good. We had the red velvet brownies and it looked much more appealing than it tasted. It had that refrigerator/freezer burn taste-yuck. I’d give it another try for coffee or something but definitely won’t go out of my way to go back.

I got bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel, it was not bad at all. However, the bacon was reheated and not just made. For that price they could’ve put freshly made bacon, fat from which would’ve made sandwich juicer.

Hallelujah for the fact that I have gotten out of the demonic place known as Washington Heights and moved into the food haven that is Harlem. This lovely café is right around the corner from my brand new apartment. I’ve gone here about 4 – 5 times now, so I feel like I can give a quality review. First off, the staff alone makes this place amazing. They know their customers, which is so amazing and hopefully I’ll be one of those locals soon! I go here for a nice iced chai while it is hot outside. They have three different flavors. I’ve had the vanilla and spice, which are both good. You can get any milk you want, I usually go for skim milk. They are incredibly quick with whipping up your drink. The cool thing is they have a drink card, so your 10th drink is free. Unfortunately I didn’t get this until my 4th time here, but its all good. I have gotten a few iced teas here too, which are so cheap!!! You can get any tea they have iced. I’ve gotten regular unsweetened iced tea and a mango passionfruit. DELICIOUS. The food is good too. I’ve had a bagel sandwich with egg and cheese, and they have about 6 types of bagels to choose from. It is always piping hot and fresh. The other time I got a turkey reuben, which was really great. It came with a bag of chips too, which is nice because usually you have to buy chips separate. I’m in love with this neighborhood gem.

Do not be intimidated by the line that is going out the door. There’s a reason why! My go to place for breakfast, lunch, late lunch, snacks, etc. This place is small and cozy with a team that is genuinely nice and quick. The food is always tasty and the products they use are high quality. I usually get an egg and cheese on a bagel. Currently I am hooked on the iced green tea with honey and lemon. Susan, is such a sweetheart! She really gets to know her customers and is interested in building relationships.

This place gets unbelievably crowded. It gets unbearable sometimes. But I keep coming back. My favorite by far has to be the black bean burger. So so good. I wish I knew the recipe because I’ve never had a burger quite that good. They do take forever to get your order ready. Also a quick tip, if it’s breakfast time and you order lunch early to go, you’re gonna get your order an hour later because they serve all the breakfast orders FIRST. Which I think is kind of ridiculous. Anyway. It’s a good place. Sushi has wayyyyy too much rice. So it’s def a no no for me. Hummus salad is delicious. Little cranberries in there are great. Ice coffee can be too bitter for me. Love the black bean soup. Very hearty. Very good. Love the $ 1 snapple deal with any order. Mozzarella tomato panini is good also.

I really, REALLY wanted to give a better review for Café One. Really, I did. It is about three blocks from my house, near City College and as such is host to a plethora of eager young minds smart enough not to spend a fortune on general ed classes at university(I wasn’t so smart.) Anyway, I read in the reviews about the vegan options and got excited. As far as pre-existing vegan food goes, there’s not much — HOWEVER they are willing to modify items at no extra charge, which is why this is a 2 – 3 star review(let’s say 2.5). I opted against this, and instead got a fruit salad served in a large cup(about 2.50 $, whereas elsewhere in Manhattan it’s around 5 – 6 $) and a vegetable sushi roll(avocado, cucumber, carrot). After taking a couple bites I notice something… It’s not my friend, delicious pickled ginger but CHUNKS of shrimp or salmon. Large chunks at that! I am sure(I hope…) I didn’t ingest any, as it seemed concentrated to one side. I am guessing they cut the veggies next to the animals and it got cross-contaminated or at least use the same cutting board without washing it. Either way, utterly disgusting and I felt vile and sick afterward. I brought it to the manager’s attention discreetly, who refunded me and apologized profusely(+1 star… mistakes happen BUT we still expect cleaner operating parameters). They need to re-train their employees, implement cleaner working conditions because even if you’re an omnivore, do you want to eat food that touched an apparently unclean chopping block? Eat at your own risk, but I wont be back.

I buy breakfast food every Saturday since I go to class at City College. I believe they have good regular coffee, better than starbucks. I ordered the pastrami and turkey Panini and it came with a kettle chips for $ 5.95 and I really liked it, it was delish. Last week, I ordered sesame bagel, I did not like it because the bagel was so hard and it was dripping with butter. Since they are next to the college, hope they make some combos for the students at a student price without skimping the ingredients and maintaining the quality. EXAMPLE of a COMBO Meal: Panini hot sandwich with pastrami/turkey, PLUS a Free small coffee would be great for students. Keep prices reasonable for students and maintain good quality and I will be a forever loyal customer.

My go to coffee shop when I have to be tucked away at City College. Cheerful staff, great chai($ 3.75 for a medium), the white chocolate macadamia cookie(~$ 1.70) is drool worthy, great snacks, lots of variety on the sandwich menu, really though, must I go on? You get the point, right? I used to find the(vanilla and spiced) chai to be a tad bit too sweet; brought it to the staff’s attention after numerous buys. she adjusted the amount of powder she used and it ended up being perfectly sweet! The sushi is also quite reasonably priced(~$ 4) and seemed pretty fresh. Menu prices are typical NYC café prices. you will end up fishing about 4 bucks for a medium cup of some specialty drink besides the regular cuppa Joe.

I’ve been a customer since Café One first opened. Why haven’t I Unilocaled about it yet? I don’t know! This is the best place in the area for healthy lunch/snack, and vegan friendly. The paninis and pressed sandwiches are delish, as are the pre made sushi boxes, wraps, drinks, pastries… everything! And I love that customer service is spot on. Very friendly owner and staff. Café One is exactly what the area needed.
