Loved, loved, loved this cute, small café. I had the Feta Omelet and wow, it was so delicious! The portion was great; I couldn’t breathe after I finished. I also loved the ambience and the music they were playing. Service was amiable and fast. Will definitely return whenever I’m in NYC again!

I’m a coffee aficionado, and this place have some amazingly good espresso. Went here for a light snack but I ended up sitting down and having a full breakfast just because it looked nice and smelled so appealing! The goat cheese omelet I had was superbly made, ample amount of cheese and great texture. Like I said, the coffee, magnificent!

Firstly, beautiful brick inside and cool ambiance! Ample seating for a café, but I do suggest lunch reservations. Friendly service. Food was delicious and simple. The waitress suggested a special that I wasn’t completely wow’d by(rice and vegetable dish but I needed a lot more grilled seasonal vegetables and they were just small pieces cooked in the rice) but I added steak and the steak was absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. You can add steak to a salad or sandwich or an entrée for $ 4 which I can absolutely appreciate in NYC. we also shared steak tacos and those were great! They offer halal chicken & meat for my halal foodies! That is a definite bonus!

I have been coming here occasionally since 2013. It’s nice to see small business grow and evolve with time. One of my favorite places for just having a cup of coffee and a dessert.

Stopped by this place expecting to get an iced coffee and saw the most delicious things on the menu and on the plates around the tables. Healthy fresh hearty well put together ingredients. If I worked on this block I would come here for lunch every day. I have had the salmon(delicious) and the tuna sandwich both were perfect. I always come here of I’m in the area. It’s very small inside but they are quick and attentive here. Also, my iced latte was good too;)

First time coming here to pick up lunch. It was bit busy and they gave me the wrong salad. Luckily my office is around the corner so I took my lunch back and the ladies were so nice about it and fixed it rt away. They also gave me a free croissant which was nice and totally unexpected. The food is good and great customer service. This place is excellent. Thank you ladies.

My sister & I stopped in for lunch a few weeks ago during a shopping trip at around noon. It’s a cute café but small, so we ended up sitting at a bar style table/stool near the window. They have a pretty big menu(for a NYC café) and the prices are reasonable. We ordered a Mediterranean salad and grilled chicken/avocado sandwich– both were amazing! The avocado sandwich is kind of lemony, which we loved. While we were waiting for our food, our waitress also brought us complementary iced green teas in a mason jar, which was so nice. My sister & I agreed to come back for the yummy food & courteous staff!

This was a great find. Food is amazing and we liked it so much we ate here twice during our short stay in New York. We tried a number of dishes, highlights included the golden cauliflower and the rib eye, which was cooked to perfection. All ingredients a very fresh. Restaurant has only recently started opening in the evenings so we were able to get a a table in early evening without booking, however, as more people get to know this the harder that will become. Restaurant currently has a BYO policy so bring a bottle. Also stopped by one morning for a coffee and pastry. The coffee is great and the pain au chocolat was freshly baked and very tasty.

The sautéed asparagus and salmon ceviche were perfect. The ceviche had tons of arugula and cilantro which I loved. Nice casual atmosphere. Comfortable for a single diner as I am tonight. And the beet juice is a must. Definitely give this place a try. I would definitely be back a lot if I lived closer than Boston

Excellent chai latte and good atmosphere. I came with two friends. We only had coffee but the food looked delicious also. The place was crowded in the beginning but we didn’t have to wait for a table long. The waitstaff was very friendly. And they played good music. Would recommend to small groups as the place is not very big.

We come here for a late brunch. They are running out of salmon. So we ordered alternative. The egg dish come out amazing and very unique. I attached a photo too. Check in in Unilocal here gives you a free ice tea! Only downside is the location.

It’s hard to notice at first but once it’s found, you’re bound to return. Never was a café person until my boyfriend and I went to the NYC craft coffee festival last year and that’s when I finally decided to walk in after working down the block for a few years. My fav breakfast is the Midtown Rush, which I’ve always gotten to go, so I can wash my hands in the office restroom after enjoying it’s succulent goodness! Last week I tried their poached eggs with tomatoes(can’t remember the name of it) but wow was that good!

A low-key and Intimate place with great food and good service. My husband and I celebrated his bday there and it’s a BYOB so that was pretty cool. Our server was very sweet. She even brought us a complimentary delicious apple cider at the end of our meal. We had two fish dishes for dinner and both were flavorful and good portion. We both finished our plates! I would definitely return there again and recommend to friends.

Great café! I went with my family and asked for the truffled pasta, hamburger and salmon; they were all delicious. We also had Ice teas of various kinds, they are special and very refreshing. The service was fantastic from the first moment. Café Tarantin is made of a relaxed ambiance that made our day to go on in the busy NY streets. 5 stars for sure. It’s a must go.

Definitely 5 stars, I had a great late lunch with my girlfriend. She had garden salad with chicken and loved it, and I took the gluten-free Tartufo. I have to say that it was one of the best gluten-free dishes I ever had. All accompanied by great service, style, vibe and a unique design which made our experience at the place very especial. When we came it was too busy, but after 15 minutes people left and the café turn to be super fun. Anyway, we got good service since the beginning.

This place is such a neighborhood gem! I am so upset that despite living around the corner for years, I only now stumbled upon it. I was looking for a place to have brunch, and although this place is a bit more casual and coffee shop-like than a traditional brunch restaurant, it was still amazing. I was lured in by their special weekend(or is it just Sunday?) shakshuka, a delicious stew of tomatoes and soft eggs, one of my favorite morning/mid-day dishes. Although I would have preferred challah bread as an accompaniment, it was still very delicious. The thing that sets it over the top though is just how kind the people are here! My companion and I were given an unexpected, complimentary pot of mint tea at the end of our meal and we accidentally stayed half an hour past closing time. I had no idea until I checked my phone because they didn’t rush us; they didn’t give us our check until I asked for it. Just the kindest, kindest people. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for something low key in the area :)

Small businesses are what makes New York City great. Here we have a small little café that serves a solid brunch(mostly egg dishes) but is hidden amongst the glut of fast food franchises in the Garment District area. There is such a dearth of quality cafes and lunch spots, so let’s hope Tarantin sticks around for a while and provide neighborhood residents and visitors another option. The Shashuka is actually very good with three eggs baked in a sweet tomato paste. If nothing else, maybe it can help reduce the wait time at Friedman’s!
