I used to shop here OFTEN. I have a lot of Calypso clothing from the earlier days, when Christiane Celle was in charge (before she sold out). The designs and the quality have gone DOWN significantly. So disappointing. I used to be able to find so much, NOW, I hardly find one thing. NOT the way it was in the little shop in Saint Jean in Saint Barth’s. NOT the same keen styles… cheap, mass produced Chinese clothing. like anyone else. may as well be a GAP or OLD NAVY. So disappointing… J Crew has a better, more well made selection. What a pity. I predict they won’t even be in business 10 years from now.

I work really close to the store in meatpacking and walked in to check it out. I was being treated like Julia Roberts in pretty woman. The sales girl kept staring at me as if I was going to steal something (mind you I’m carrying a $ 600 coach bag pretty sure I can afford calypso). Just because I was wearing a sweater and jeans and I was being treated like dirt and felt so awkward. After the girl took a dress from me to «hold up front» which is a $ 300 dress. Then when I went to pay which everyone ignored me until the girl who hounded me came out of the back to ring me, I handed her my discount card that all businesses get in my area and she proceeds to say how great the card is and if I would have even shopped there without it?! What the heck!!! So disrespected and so rude! I have never been treated like that living in New York the people at Prada treated me better! Never going back. Ever.

I ordered 2 pieces online. They charged me 13 dollars shipping. 1 item came so badly crumpled not to mention 5 sizes bigger than an extra small I ordered so I don’t even know what to do with it and it’s non refundable. The second I was told was no longer in stock (after they charged my card). They refunded me the cost of the dress only but I wouldn’t have paid 13 dollars shipping for 1 item. Oh and no one answers the customer service phone or emails?!? It feels like a total scam!
Total rip off and total waste of money!!! The clothing feels beyond cheap and not even worth cost of dry cleaning so I will throw in the trash! I learned my lesson! Ah well! :(
Maybe shopping in the store is better than online but for dresses made in China not worth the cost!

Besides the price I love the clothing, in particular the casual dresses. They are consistent with sizing and I can order online and be sure it will fit. The prices I think are a little crazy but, it’s New York, can’t spend under $ 150 for a dress.
