Purchased a Pulsd deal for 90 minutes of mimosas + entrée. They served us one Mimosa & said that they ran out of champagne… They compensated me with a white wine, that was tolerable. The Sangria is watered down pink & tart, the breakfast burger was okay but I was extremely disappointed that we were taken for a ride. –Don’t participate in promotional deals that you can’t honor.

Tried to go today for brunch but it like it looked closed. Did it go out of business?

Nice quaint little restaurant! It was not packed when I got here. Came here for brunch with a deal from groupon. Nothing out of this world, but not bad either!

Came with some friends for a Sunday brunch using a Gilt coupon(4 entrees, 4 sides and 4 brunch cocktails). It was almost empty(surprisingly so). We got a great spot along the open doors facing Greenwich Ave, which is obviously ideal! Nothing super special about the food — your standard brunch fare. There was no ‘wow’ factor here. Baked eggs were tasty but like most places. I DID really like the homemade biscuits! The fresh rose sangria was also great. Service was attentive, but I did NOT enjoy seeing our waiter eat in plain view of us. Pretty unprofessional. But beautiful décor inside, casual jazz music playing. Overall a pleasant experience!

My lady and I had the Living Social Brunch deal. Service was excellent. Tried the cocktail of the day A pomegranate margarita, juuust missed! Potent though! Hung out with the white Sangria. Eggs benedict was off da chain. Side of fries #FINISHED

Barely giving it 3 stars. Service was horrible. We had two waiters and everything still took long. Had to ask both for another drink constantly even though it was supposed to be unlimited. Asked for no bacon in the club sandwich and it came with bacon anyway. Mac and cheese was very cheesy so it was good. Would not return though.

A friend and I came for brunch last Saturday and used a gilt voucher which entitled us to an entrée, side & drink each. Chapter one is in a great location and has large premises with great design. We were running late & the maître d was very accommodating. However our meals were absolutely inedible. My friend has the cast iron baked eggs & fries — the former was tasteless tomato mess & the fries tasted like old & like they’d been refried! I had the duck confit hash & the collard greens. The former consisted of 3 slithers of duck meat & burnt potatoes. The collard greens were much to vinegary & had lost their bright green wonderful colour. On the whole everything was just overcooked which was very disappointing. The service, whilst pleasant, was ridiculously slow. It seemed like there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant! We won’t be coming here again, especially when there are so many more, similarly priced restaurants in the area.

Quite possibly one of the best time I have had… ever! I can’t speak on behalf of the food, I didn’t dine here, but my friends and I sure as hell partied here. The bartenders were amazing, and basically allowed us to take over the joint! Tons of fun, great beer selection, and down to earth, fun bartenders. Have at it!

My favorite part of brunch is poached eggs. After waiting forever for our entrees, my eggs came luke warm and cooked through(rather than runny) The bloody mary’s were okay, but a bit over priced for their quality. Server was very nice, but not great at her job. My favorite part of the brunch, was the ambiance — cute and cozy

I came to Chapter One for Saturday brunch at noon with a group of 7 people. There were two other tables when we arrived, but the restaurant began filling up shortly thereafter. The brunch menu was both eclectic and enticing with options like duck egg and cauliflower parmesan flan. I tried its signature Duck Confit Hash with mimosa + cocktail of the day, which was pomegranate sangria with tequila. The mimosa was your standard champagne and orange juice concoction. The pomegranate sangria was surprisingly strong with a definite taste of tequila. While the drinks were decent, the Duck Confit Hash was a huge disappointment. The dish is served in a hot skillet with a medley of root vegetables(potato, celery root, squash) sauteed with duck, and a poached egg and hollandaise on top. My poached egg was so overcooked that I thought it was a hard-boiled egg. The rest of the dish was basically drenched in so much oil that it was not edible. The duck was also super overcooked and coarse. Overall, everyone thought the portions were too small… minus the pancakes.

All the other bars in the area were overcrowded, Chapter One was quieter, inviting, and relaxed. The young lady at the bar spent the time and made me an amazing Old Fashioned. Also had a delicious«hot mulled cider» off the drink menu –perfect on a freezing night of walking the city(and only $ 8!) definitely a place we’ll visit next time in the city

Good for a drink and a small app or two. The price willl be about that of a meal. Met a friend for dinner. Couldn’t decide on a meal to get. Ended up getting a few small plates and a drink. The cornbread(a bit dry and fluffy), duck sausage(ducklicious), the Unilocal recommendation of beef tartare(you’ll like if you like ceviche), and the meatballs(good). The most memorable part was the host referring to us as ladies and gentlemen. It was a party of two: one guy and one lady. So the plural was totally uncalled for. Overall, it’s definitely a local spot, but not a place to «wow» anyone with, I think. Maybe it’s because we didn’t get a meal. Open to another try. Food is decent and host was attentive.

I had a great birthday experience at this place. Katie was really sweet and attentive to our party. We put a bunch of the high top tables together and ordered oysters, bar food, and cocktails. Even as people filtered in an out, everyone was happy and glasses never ran low. Regarding the food — the sliders were a bit strange I will admit. Flavorful, but a bit dry. However, the true star of the show was the salt fish cod dip, which is simply incredible. Please try it. It sounds weird, but it is truly delicious. Also, ask for extra bread because they basically bring you this mini cast iron bowl of dip and like 2 pieces of bread — really? Just save yourself the trouble and order extra toasts up front. You will need them.

Popped in with a friend while waiting for dinner reservations last Friday. It was pretty empty except another duo. We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender. We had an awesome hot apple cider drink with rum. Hit the spot on a snowy day. I was surprised at how empty it was-prime location, happy hour specials, food, etc. Maybe it was an off night?

Had brunch here with some friends and enjoyed the food. I did not see anything in the brunch menu that blew me away, but found the Baked Eggs dish I ordered to be better than it usually is at other restaurants. This dish is usually tasty but it almost never is filling, but I found it to be so at Chapter One. Drinks were good, the mimosas were strong and my greyhound was good but would have been better with fresh grapefruit juice. Décor is cute and I noticed a lot of big tables ideal for groups. Our food took over 40 mins to come out, which would be my only complaint.

Chapter one is a gem in the village! We first munched on pickled vegetables, deep fried spicy chick peas and lentil falafel type of bites, everything was awesome. For appetizers we had the beef tartare: out of this world and the smoked trout, also amazing but reminded me of herring. Main courses, we had the organic chicken and the sirloin steak. Both dishes were perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and very fairly portioned. Yum yum yum. The chicken was especially tasty, it was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, perfect. Desserts were smoked chocolate mousse(it was more a chocolate cream) and a fantastic parsnip cake with sweet frosting(an original and decadent twist to the classic carrot cake). Overall our group had a fantastic time, the staff was kind and welcoming and the food was DELICIOUS. If you are in the area, come and check out this delicious modern American kitchen.

Read about it this morning — disappointed. Greasy. Hollandaise was cooked over the dish. Served with your bread in the side. Must ask. Collard green was good though. I like the crumbled stuff on top. I inquired and it’s a combination of bacon, garlic, fresh thyme and breadcrumbs. The hash brown was great with the mini corn kernels and potato and duck cooked with it. It would be better if they also had slices of duck meat(medium cooked) on top and egg with hollandaise sauce not cooked with the egg but on top. That’s why I am a little disappointed. They served my cappuccino with dripped coffee outside and the handle like a French onion soup.

The first red flag was when there was almost nobody at Chapter One at noon on a Saturday. The huge restaurant only had 3 tables full when we arrived. The fresh squeezed OJ came full of ice. Who does that? The coffee was average drip kind. The food wasn’t much better. I got the duck hash, which was decent. It would have been nice to have some bread but that’s a minor detail. My girlfriend got the egg sandwich. The bread was blah and the bacon was so hard it was inedible. When we asked for new bacon, the answer was that all the bacon is pre-fried before it arrives at the restaurant.(WTF?!). Overall, this was a brunch fail. I don’t think this place will be open much longer. Sad because it looks like they spent a fortune building it out.

I was not impressed with brunch here. I made a reservation for a party of 10 for my birthday weekend and was sadly disappointed. For starters, our waitress was extremely rigid and uptight. Nine out of 10 of the people had arrived with one person running later. Twenty minutes into our reservation she still wasn’t here, so we requested to place our order. The waitress asked if we could wait because adding the one initial meal would confuse the kitchen. Um what? There were MAYBE10 other people in the restaurant. It wasn’t like five people were running later. One person! You can’t just add on that one meal? Poor start. Other missteps: My breakfast sandwich was brought out without bacon, the waitress handed my boyfriend an extremely hot plate, and we were never asked if we wanted more coffee. The food was bland, the bacon was dry and unsalty and just.not.bacon. It’s a shame because the ambiance is nice, with a great opening and sunlight. I wanted to support this local business, but I will definitely not be returning.

4 stars for overall, 3.8 for the food and 5 stars for services! First off, i really love the name, Chapter One. Intriguing :) Came to Chapter One on a hot Friday evening with my friend. It was actually our backup plan. But it turns out just fine as we would go to the first place, with a even more relaxing environment. Right off the 7th ave south and slightly tuck away on Greenwich street, this airy restaurant is an assuming neighborhood gem: a place you can stop by any night solo or with a good friend, ordering couple snacks and drinks just chill. It was before 7pm so place was not yet filled up. We took the last table that is situated half in-door and half out-door. Perfect for the summer night! Promptly we were served cool water, generously poured wine in the glass. Straight to the most important thing, food. So here we go: — Charred Octopus. This is very good, nice texture and smokiness. Seasoned with confit potato, dried tomato, meyer lemon. the honey mustard oil adds a nice kick to the meaty dish. — Skate bites with napa cabbage poblano slaw, jalapeño mayo. This is good but slightly drier than I prefer. My suggestion, lotion up with the jalapeño mayo! Can’t miss veggies! We got the baby beets with vadouvan yogurt and cruchny cress. So colorful, almost too cute to eat. But don’t hold your folk, cuz this baby beets are so sweet and juicy that you don’t want to stop! Since we decided not to have entrée, so we added two more small plates: — Beef tartare. Well, since I am not huge fan of meat, I only took a bite. All I can tell you is, it is beef tartare. But I do like how it is presented — square shape of tartare sits between cracker thin and crispy black garlic baguette, dotted with pickled mustard seed, cress. Eye pleasing! — Smoke trout salad. this is another fave of the night. The fish is not too salty like I found in some other places, subtly smoky. I ordered a glass of crisp sauvignon blanc to go with it. Nice and simple. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced, including the wines. Whites are mostly from New York State, Cali; reds are from Argentina, Chile or Washington. I have to give a bravo to the staff. Our waiter, who I forgot to ask the name, was friendly and attentive. The GM checked on us to see if we enjoying our meal and offered the last round of drinks on the house! We are very happy girls :) Definitely want to come back and check out the brunch!
