Is this one of those stores where you need to look the part to shop there? I felt so judged while in the store and couldn’t wait to leave. I went there with my brother and we were completely ignored for a long time! Actually we were ignored completely. For a store that appears to be on the higher end, their customer service is definitely on the lower end. All you see are stone-​faced staff members shuffling around and putting clothes back. I did not think we had to flag someone down to help us so it was pretty ridiculous. Headquarters should train their staff to pay attention to customers needs, to be attentive, and smile.
They try to attract customers by having good sales, but they will run everyone out of the store with their horrible attitudes. I would not recommend people not to shop at this particular store as they will be wasting their time. Maybe other Charles Tyrwhitt have better customer service.
Needless to say, we did not buy anything.

I went in to this store yesterday to get measured and buy shirts for my friends wedding. All the shirts I have fit like balloons. When I arrived and started browsing the shelves kind of aimlessly, the man at the counter asked if I needed help. I said I needed to be measured and would like to try on some shirts. He brouht me to Josh M., who was a great help. He took my shirt measurements, got me test shirts in a literal flash (it was like those cartoons where the door closes and then opens right away) and patiently helped me decide on style and size (I was debating between smaller neck with tighter sides, but a slight underhang on the shoulders or a wider neck, with tight, but not super tight sides and perfect shoulders; I took the latter).
I really appreciated Josh’s dilligence and competence, its great when shopping for something like dress shirts can be this simple and pain-​free. I would definitely shop here again, and maybe even buy online (lower price, much longer wait).
Would recommend stopping by on a Monday (or weekday) midday — rather than the evenings or weekends when its probably crazy.

I made a quick visit here to pick up a dress shirt and was impressed by the selection — both in terms of quality and variety — as well as the customer service. It is pricey, but not excessive, and the shirt I purchased is both comfortable and well-​made. I don’t anticipate visiting the store in person, since I live in a different state, but I may well shop from their mail-​order catalog before too long.

I went to both stores in Manhattan, got measured and tried on a shirt or two. Not bad, I thought. I decided to place an order through the internet, and there was my first mistake. The factory delivery service for Charles Tyrwhitt is absolutely horrible. 6 Shirts took 6 weeks to be delivered. The shirts were delivered 2 at a time so CT can avoid security issues with shipping? First I have ever heard of this issue for shipping of shirts.
The shirts I tried on at the store were business shirts. Three of the shirts I ordered on line were casual shirts; my second mistake. CT’s business and casual shirts have a completely different fit. The casual shirts do not come close to fitting

Love this place and wish I could afford to buy even more clothes from here. While it is pretty expensive, you get what you pay for and the quality is top notch. The dress shirts are great and can be affordable, especially when they’re on sale for $ 30. If you can combine that with an extra 20% off coupon from your email receipt, then you can stock up on some great work shirts for less than $ 25 each, which is hard to beat. Highly recommend this place.

Horrible customer service. Sales and management extremely rude. Went in to buy 8shirts. Picked them out and paid. Then they lost my shirts and asked me to step aside so other people could check out.

Needed to replace a bunch of old ill fitting Brooks Brothers non iron shirts for work and took the plunge on the 3 shirts for $ 99, bought six in 14.5 32 extra slim fit. Package came in 10 days and all the shirts have ultra soft cotton. Put them on and the neck was a tad too tight and the shirt skin tight, couldn’t even button the bottom. CT has a world class return policy so decided to return them. I would have sent them back to England but I wanted to get fitted to make sure I was getting the right fit. Got measured and was told I was a 15 32 Extra Slim or maybe a 14.5 32 slim. He gave me two samples to try on and the 15 32 extra slim was perfect but the 7^th ave didn’t seem to have any 15s let alone 32 sleeve lengths. The manager said I could return the shirts there but they would place a new order for me. Not only did I get the 3 or $ 99 deal, they gave me an extra 20% Black Friday discount because it was considered a new order. So including shipping I got six shirts for $ 160.
It’s too bad the 7^th ave store doesn’t have my size or I would be a regular in there. CT is a great company because they saw I returned my shirts and gave me $ 20 towards my next purchase which I then parlayed into buying four other shirts online.
Overall the staff was very nice and pleasant to deal with but if none of the stores in NYC have my size so ordering online is my bets option. The non iron material isn’t as good as Brooks Brothers but the cotton is much softer. Some shirts have hanging threads but hopefully this isn’t a sign of a future crumbling shirt.

Good quality men’s clothing for very fair price point. You get several choices to custom fit your shirts from slim fits to fuller sizes, neck, sleeve, cuff and pockets. As close to custom as you can get.

Excellent shirts at an affordable price especially when they come down to the $ 30 range. If you can combine that with a couple of promo deals from livingsocial or elsewhere, then even better.
Even though I have no complaints about the quality of the clothing, the customer service at this location leaves much to be desired. Like many of the other reviews, you need to personally hunt down a staff member to assist you or else they will just walk around and rearrange shirts into the wall.
Also when I asked about exchanging a shirt from an online order, the worker lectures me about their policy won’t accept exchanges of the sort and to go back to the manager that said I can. I didn’t appreciate his tone and surprise surprise that the next worker I asked with the same question accepted my exchange.
The shirts are great and I will continue my business through their website but I would think twice before shopping at their B&M locations until there is some positive uniformity in their customer service.

I really like the slim fit shirts here. They fit me very well, look good and are surprisingly durable. I bought a Groupon online and purchased 4 shirts. They’re all still in great shape after wearing them regularly. I recommend this place for someone who needs formal work clothes to wear regularly.

I love the shirts and usually shop at the store on the Avenue of the America. However, because I heard this was the flagship store I decided to go here. It is much bigger than the other place but there was a major problem — it seemed as if NONE of the shirts were in the right slot with the corresponding size. It took forever to find my sizes because everything was so out of order. When I mentioned this to the associate, his response was to blame customers for putting them back in the wrong spot. This seems odd because you typically just slide it out, check the size, and buy or slide it back. And, you don’t try the shirts on, they have samples. This was never a problem in the other store. I’m not exaggerating when I say I grabbed about 20 shirts in the wrong spot.

I own about a dozen Tyrwhitt shirts and they have served me well over the years. They have been undoubtedly the best value in mens dress shirts. They have weathered the test of time, with most of them 3 – 6 years old. I have regular and slim fit shirts.
The problem is that CT hasn’t adapted well to the slim fit mega trend. They do have an «extra slim» fit, but that fit isn’t really that slim. Now for full disclosure, I have a tough time with shirts because my neck is relatively big compared to my sleeve and chest dimensions so shirts have always fit me loosely. I haven’t minded in the past, but working in midtown manhattan, baggy shirts aren’t in the mainstream anymore. So I will need to find another source of shirts as I fully adopt the slim look.
As far as the store itself goes, it is nice enough, with a heavy brit emphasis. I don’t mind that they have «try on» shirts, though they should really launder them more frequently. Staff was acceptablly courteous.

Great store layout and merchandise. Good service, not overbearing, and you really cant beat the value for shirts here.
I think this nyc location has most selection for suits & shoes so id def go to this one.
Great deals here, 4 for 200 on shirts is good value. Once you find your size you’re set to go. Suits are also accurately priced at only 4 – 500.
Def worth checkign out if you’re in the market for casual /​business mens clothes.

The only place I buy ties and shirts! I’ve been a customer since before they landed in America.
It’s too bad that they hate larger guys and increasingly stick slimmer and slimmer clothes. Who in the USA is getting thinner?

This is my new favorite store.
I love places that sell slim fit shirts with no pockets. Here you can get them without spending $ 150+ per shirt. I like Hugo Boss, Pink etc but at CT I can get 4 shirts for $ 200. There suits and ties are also reasonably priced. I am going to do some serious damage here.

Charles! What type of stupid ass store is this? I walk in and there are WALLS dedicated to slim fit only shirts? What the eff is this, a joke? I thought I was on Punked. Sorry chubby, you can’t shop here?
I always buy their Groupons when I see them. I bought a pair of pants online. A nice rust colored flat front chinos. Cool man. All my suit pants and jeans that I buy are all the same size. Ordering from CT? Nope. So I don’t want to wait until the warehouse in Merry ol’ England receives them and processes my refund. I’ll just exchange them in The Big Apple! No worries.

So the helpful counterperson tells me, the biggest pant size we have in house are size 36. Size 36? I was that size when I got married in the 90s!
I hand my pants over and now I’ll wait for the Hogwart Elf’s to credit me back my American dollars.

I kept passing this store and it looked like they had nice clothing so I decided to stop in last night. Upon arrival in the store I am not greeted and completely ignored for over ten minutes. Yes I kept track. So I figured self service was how the store operates. So I pick a shirt and try it on. Nice but the 36″ sleeves are just perfect. So I hunt down a clerk to ask how much I can expect the sleeves to shrink. Now this is interesting… The clerk scolds me for opening a shirt package and trying on one their «special» pre washed shirts. Seriously you provide no assistance to customers no signs and then scold people because they are not aware of your special procedure which hadn’t to tell them about. Nice.
Even though they ok clothing (nice shirts and mediocre suits) there is no way I will shop there.

I’ve come to really like Charles Tyrwhitt dress shirts over the past one or two years, and the prices just keep dropping! They used to have the big 4 shirts for $ 200 deal. Then, if you got lucky you’d catch the 5 shirts for $ 200 sale which came around once or twice a year. Now, it seems a multitude of shirts continuously come on sale for $ 30 – 40 each. I would certainly expect this to coincide with a decline in quality, but so far I just don’t see it. I guess they’re just trying to dump the excess inventory?
I consider myself average build (by no means slim) but I go for the extra slim fit shirts because they fit just right. Even if you have a broad physique or you’re on the *slightly* overweight side, try the slim fit or extra slim fit shirts, you may thanks me! They have a much sharper, custom fit without that baggy feeling from a shirt that is too big. But hey, if that’s your thing then go for the classic fit.
There’s also plenty of suits, ties, blazers, etc. which I don’t have experience with, as the shirts are definitely the main draw here. This is actually their main location in the city (50^th and 7^th ave.) with greater quantities and varieties than the Madison Avenue store.
Solid customer service as well. If they don’t have exactly what you want in the store, chances are they can order it and you will have it within 1 – 2 weeks. Occasionally some items are on back order though.

They have great shirts, and other items… and prices are not too bad.
Store location is good; interior is organized well, and service is friendly.
