I bought the Unilocal deal. Still way too expensive, maybe it’s because I have a shaggy rug. They did a very good job cleaning. Quoted me too high at first because I thought my rug was bigger than expected. They very quickly requoted, but still pretty pricey. Said my rug would take 7 days to remove clean and return, but they returned it in 5 days which is much faster! Overall, they did their job well.

Jose was FABULOUS! He did a gr8 job. The 1 star is NOT about his work or the end result. The 1 star is based on a telephone conversation I overheard him have with the owner. When I called to book an appt, I explained I had a Groupon and I had a sofa bed that «seated 3.» The owner said «a sectional.» I agreed — not knowing what a sectional really was. When Jose looked at the invoice he said «this is a love seat not a sectional.» I could tell — without him saying — that this meant the cost of cleaning a love seat vs. a sectional was probably less. I asked him to call his boss to see what could be done — since I was hoping that it was a mere error. What I heard was the owner saying that because I was using a Groupon and that the visit was on a Saturday… this is why I was being charged the «sectional» price. What disappointed me about this was that I was NEVER informed that because I was using a Groupon or that I had asked for a Saturday appointment that I was going to be charged a «sectional» rate vs. a love-​seat rate. Now, in the end, to me it’s all about honesty and integrity when it comes to any transaction. The fact that the owner said those things to Jose disappointed me. Why should I get «penalized» because I used a Groupon that the company offered? If the cost for doing it on a weekend was going to be more expensive, I would have NOT chosen a Saturday. In the end, the service that Jose provided (the cleaning, use of green products, etc.) was a 4-​star (out of 5), the other aspect… which is just as important as the cleaning… was, sadly, the 1-​star out of 5.

I had my carpets cleaned with another Chem Dry franchise last year. I have a receipt that shows all the carpets in my apartment were cleaned for $ 188.35. When I saw an available Groupon for $ 75 for $ 150 worth of cleaning, I purchased it fully understanding there would be a small balance. When I booked the appointment, I discussed thus with the customer service rep. She told me I would receive an email with a quote and there definitely would be a small balance.
I never received the email so I called this morning to verify the appt and request the email be resent. The rep on the phone told me the carpet cleaning would be $ 365. I told him my entire apt is 850 sq ft and only half has carpet. He told me to allow the technician to come out and give me a true estimate… that they didn’t realize it was an apt, not house. He assured me that Groupon would issue a full refund of my $ 75 if I didn’t have the work done.
The tech came out and quoted me $ 435!!! I showed him the receipt for last year’s Chem Dry cleaning and he said «they must have only used water». He told me I could get a refund from Groupon.
The tech came back 10 minutes later and told me that his boss said they’d do the cleaning for $ 200 plus the Groupon which was $ 75. I declined for 2 reasons…1) I don’t think I should pay $ 100 more this year than I did last year and 2) I’m afraid the tech would «just use water».
Groupon only issues refunds within the first 3 days if purchase. I purchased this Groupon about 7 weeks ago. Be careful about buying Groupons from Chem Dry of NYC. They have wayyyyyy over inflated prices. I’ve contacted Groupon and hopefull I’ll get my $ 75 refund.
****UPDATE– Groupon will not refund the $ 75 because is is past their 3 day limit. I called Sears Carpet Cleaning and they quoted me $ 165, which is much more in line with what I paid last year. I lost the $ 75 and I hope no one else has to be ripped off like I was.

I can’t speak to the service itself, but the customer service was really lacking. We had purchased a Groupon deal for upholstery cleaning. When I called to make the appointment, I told the representative that we had a small three seater couch with a small chaise (total 9 linear feet). Their price online for a four seater couch (9 linear feet) was $ 153, so that’s what I thought this would cost. However, he wanted to charge us the price for a sectional (14 linear feet), which was $ 300. When questioned why we would have to pay double the price for our couch even though it was a lot smaller than a sectional, he didn’t have an answer other than «it’s the pricing policy». With someone so unwilling to work with new customers, we’ll take our business someplace else.

Ernesto did a fantastic job on the cream colored wool carpet on our stairs. He got all but one tiny stain out and it looks brand new. Thanks Chem-​Dry!

Purchased a groupon for my white sectional couch to be cleaned after putting it through hell for a few years. Called the next day and had an appt the following day. Great customer service and very professional! Highly recommend!

After a year with an enthusiastic puppy crawling all over it, my beautiful West Elm couch was in need of some serious TLC.
I purchased a groupon deal on Friday, called the same day and was able to make an appointment for Saturday to have my fabric sofa cleaned.
The Chem-​Dry workers arrived on time on Saturday and were friendly, courteous and professional. I mentioned that I’d seen a lower price than the one I was quoted mentioned on Unilocal,and they agreed to honor the lower one! They worked very quickly and thoroughly.
Outcome: My couch looks fabulous.

I made an appointment after searching for a company using non-​toxic chemicals. I used a Unilocal deal, so that was great! Very easy to make an appointment. The tech called to give me a 30 min heads up when he was on his way and was super friendly and professional once he got here. I had serious dirt and grime in the entryway/​staircase right at the entrance to my apartment and he worked really hard to get it out… looks great! I will definitely use the company again.

I’m extremely pleased with how clean and quick the service was. My daughter practically ruined her pink carpet that I thought had no chance of revival. Brad and Eduardo meticulously worked on her carpet and were able to get 98% of the carpet dirt and stains out. They were professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this company.

I signed up via a groupon. Overall, I would say the service was good. The cleaner did a good job and was friendly.
My only constructive criticism was they quoted me one my price over the phone and told me a different price in person as I said it was a «sofa with chaise» and they told me once they saw it, it was a «sectional», therefore needed to charge me $ 35 more. If you google «sofa with chaise» to look at images, it’s EXACTLY what I have. I’m not sure if they did this to jack up the price or rather just an honest mistake.
My recommendation to them is to have more crystal clear «photos and costs» both on their website and also in person so people can more precisely know what they have and how it much it will cost them without feeling they may be getting ripped off.
Overall I think if I didn’t have this issue pricing issue it would have been a clear 4 stars. Five stars would have been attainable through having a better website, service ordering support as well as the accurate pricing estimate.

Great experience with these guys. Brad was really careful & thorough about cleaning my black & white couch. It looks like new… The white is gleaming! Very happy with the job.

I purchased a Groupon for Chem Dry and I was very pleased with their service. The representative was very nice and professional and did a great job cleaning my sofa. He used non toxic cleaners that are safe for pets and allergy sufferers. There was no chemical or perfume smell. Also it was very easy to make an appointment.

I moved into a co-​op and we have to have 80% carpeted, and I needed a cleaning. I purchased their $ 75 ($ 150 value) Groupon. They showed up a little late, but that’s fine, and they did the job. I expected something quick and easy, but they moved all my furniture and lifted the sofas, and did a really good job. I would recommend their services again.

I had a very old carpet that needed cleaning in my Manhattan medical office. My colleagues and myself were quite pleased with the results and both Charles and his workers were very pleasant to be around. Thank you Chem Dry you did a real good job and my patients thank you as well.

This place RUINED my white area rug. It was first returned to me still wet with large brown spots all over. The manager (owner?) assured me that he would personally come to my apartment to inspect the rug. He did not; however, the associate he sent out agreed that the rug was unacceptable and it would be returned in 4 business days, clean and dry. I had to call 6 business days later to schedule delivery. The driver was late and left the rug with my doorman so I could not inspect upon delivery. The brown spots are still there and the entire rug has a brown tint to it now.
Long story short: Do not use this service for anything of value. I basically paid these people $ 400 to ruin a brand new $ 2,500 rug.

If I could give a negative star I would, this is a BAIT AND SWITCH service and I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. I ordered a Groupon that was for 150.00 worth of service and sent pictures of my sofa prior to scheduling the appointment. I was quoted a price of 175.00. I was also told that the technicians would arrive at 6:00pm and they did not arrive until 8:30. When the technicians arrived they claimed that the price would be 300.00!!! I called the main office to explain that I had sent pictures prior to the appointment and was given the price, the person who answered the phone then went back and forth with me and I was so disgusted with the entire experience that I sent the techs away. They then told me upon leaving that they are instructed by management to change the price upon arrival. I will be following up with groupon to get my money back.

I bought a groupon to have my loveseat cleaned and, when I got my tax return, decided to add the ottoman and the sofa, too. The office staff that I spoke to, to make the appointment and then add the additional pieces of furniture, were very helpful. The guys who did the work were right on time, very polite and professional, and they did such a thorough job. One of the pieces was pretty stained as my old dog slept there. The stains are gone and I feel like I have three new pieces of furniture. The guys took such care with each piece of furniture and were very careful about cleaning the water drippings from the floors before they left. It took a little over an hour to clean three good sized pieces of furniture. I am very pleased with the service I received from Chem-​Dry from start to finish.

After doing some online research, I chose these guys to clean the carpet in our bedroom. The most important thing I can say is this: they showed up on time, called ahead to give me a 30 min warning, and were careful and professional throughout.
Highly recommend. You won’t get dicked around.

Chem Dry answered all of my queries when I called, arrived early and did a very thorough job cleaning my couch and sectional — they even got chocolate stains out from 5 years ago. Oink, oink on me :)
And with a $ 75 coupon on Unilocal /​evening hours so you don’t have to leave work early, how can you go wrong?
Very pleased with their professional services — highly recommend!
