I would give 2 ½ stars if it were possible. They have a great selection, but the customer service is awful. It’s a long story, but I’ll give you the short version. I looked at their selection online and made a list of about 15 posters that I wanted to see in person. My plan was to buy two. When I showed the salesman the list, I said, «I made a list, it might be too long to see everything,» and he said, «Yeah, unless you are going to buy 15.» I don’t know about you, but if I’m going to spend the money on a vintage poster, I want to see it in person first. So I looked at 5 posters, purchased one and felt dissuaded from buying a second. I was told my purchase would be ready to pick up after framing in 2 – 3 weeks. When I called two days before 3 weeks, the man who helped in the store answered the phone and said he would call me back. He never did. I emailed one week later and was told it would be ready the following day. So, in the end it took 4 weeks, which didn’t bother me, but the lack of communication did. I like the poster and the framing, but I’m still in the market for a second one, which I will hopefully find somewhere else. I’m not sure what the salesman’s deal was, but he seemed annoyed by my asking to look at posters, and the fact that he didn’t bother to call me back definitely didn’t make me feel valued as a customer. Special Note: The woman from the conservation studio who I had a conversation with was very friendly. Perhaps she should be selling the posters too.

This is the place to buy your movie posters. The stock is better than anything else I’ve seen in the city.

Years ago in Madrid, I found myself in the superstore of El Corte Ingles. It had everything you could imagine from grocery goods to high end clothing. I was mesmerized by the amount of stuff I didn’t need but wanted. El Corte Ingles also had many souvenir items for tourists. One of the services El Corte Ingles offered was imprinting names onto vintage style posters. I ordered one flamenco dancer poster for myself and one matador poster for my cousin. The posters were movie sized and I had them framed. Every time I look at them, I am reminded of another time in my life and all of the great experiences I had on that trip. Enter Chisholm Larsson Gallery. Right now they are having an exhibit of vintage posters from Spain. It goes 100 years back and are of all sizes from postcard to wall. Of course my favorites are the wall sized ones. The colors and simplicity of the art really draw you in. I can’t wait to have my own place where I will be able to showcase my vintage collection. The gallery was empty except for one patron. I felt weird asking to see more posters since I am not in the market to buy. Posters will set you back a grand plus and that is not an investment I am willing to make living with roommates. In the meantime, Chisholm has their database online. But if you feel you need to see them in person(I highly recommend this.) the gallery is open for business. I guess to call them a poster shop would be an insult.
