I was really excited about this concept– an indian chipotle? YUM. However, the food is pretty bland, which is surprising given how flavorful indian food usually is. For the price, I’d much rather spend my money at the chipotle right next door.

People need to check this out because every time I walk by, it’s not busy. BUT, it’s really good here. To me, chutney kitchen is one of the first of its kind. It’s like a chipotle for Indian food. You can eat healthy here — like a salad with light sauces or you can eat terribly with tacos n burritos n tikka n chutney n naan n deliciousness. I highly recommend. Service is great here. It’s not too pricey. Do it.

I accidentally came in here thinking it was Chipotle but stayed after finding there were so many options. Like tikka. Vindaloo. Chutney. I still don’t even know what they are but it tasted pretty good. And the portion was huge. I was full for days. P. S. Chipotle is to the right of it.

Got the rice bowl and it’s delicious! I love that they have tons of options. Its comparable to Chipotle’s style, and it’s also right next door. It’s a great place to check out if you want to try something new.

Check in for free fries. Too bad I didn’t have service so I missed this! Had the naan taco with shredded pork. They warmed the naan but would prefer it warmer. The pork was warm and juicy. Toppings were free so I told them to put it all in. Topped the topping with spicy cashews but didn’t taste it. My tongue must be overloaded with all the different taste! Would come back for the free fries. Place was neat and clean. Came close to closing time so only had one server, which gave me time to check what’s good. Would try the chaat next time!

**Free masala fries with Unilocal check in** MEH. Literally an Indian Chipotle with less food at the same cost. Very clean, spacious restaurant, but very underwhelming entrée dishes. I got a salad bowl with all the veggie toppings and the grilled chicken. The grilled chicken was very, very bland and I doused it in their hot sauce before eating it. Overall the entire dish was very unseasoned and tasted like eating plain food with no sauce and hardly any salt. Obviously quite the healthy meal. I added raita on top of my salad, which I’ll have to say, was pretty good. Still, I prefer the actual Chipotle instead of this version of bland Chipotle. My coworker got a beef bowl which looked to be halfway filled to the top with food… not worth the $ 10+ it cost. I gave 3 stars because of their delicious masala fries. They were free with check in and were fresh, crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. The chutney dip it came with was delicious. If you get anything here, get the fries! Probably will not be returning as the amount of food, price, and taste just don’t make it worth another trip back.

This place reminded me of Chipotle, but Indian-style. You choose bowl, wrap, etc., and then they ask you what toppings, sauces you would like. I ordered the Roti wrap and it was decent enough. I tried to shove it down since we had to hurry up and catch a cab. Finished it with a ginger beer. I would love to go back when I have more time and try some of their other combinations.

New favorite Roti wrapped board meeting with lettuce no rice. It’s light and tastes great.

This place is amazing! Not expensive. Delicious, healthy options. Creative stuff. I would come here daily if I lived closer. Not surprisingly, they also got an «A» rating from the health department. A squeaky clean place. Today I enjoyed the Nan Tacos. Wonderful! Spent less than $ 10 for a terrific lunch.

This place sits right next to Chipotle. It’s very comparable to it. You have the option of bowl, rotti wrap, and somerhing else. It’s very Indian infused food. I got the bowl with chicken, mild sauce, beans, and lettuce. I found it to be very underwhelming. On the bright side, they have a very very clean bathroom.

I love there food from the Copper Bowl to their Board Meeting cuisine. I would call this place the ‘Indian Chipotle’. The dining area is quite clean and pretty roomy. I have never seen this place crowded and unlike the Chipotle next door here is always a place to sit. I would recommend eating here if you like a change from other chains like Chipotle.

I was in a severe mood for Indian and this was my first time trying this place. I give it 2 stars because it’s clean and the staff is friendly but the food is flavorless! Ordered chicken tikka bowl with cucumbers and tomatoes but the chicken was flavorless, the sauce wasn’t thick enough and too much rice in the bowl. Id rather have less rice and complimentary naan. I should have gone to Indiekitch :(

I was in the area foong errands and stopped in. I got #2-Moonstruck-roti, pulled pork, vindaloo, spiced corn, pickled onions and yogurt. It was wrapped up like a burrito-it was delicious with a little kick. The space is roomy and clean. A lot of business is take out. I would recommend and return.

Ok not gonna say it… not gonna say it… oh what the hell its like an Indian Chipotle! Now I feel better and got it over with, apparently thats a rule and you have to mention Chipotle in every review of this place. i disdain Chipotle so Im gonna say this place is better. Ok with that over, I stopped in with time to kill pre-theater and ordered the Board Meeting which was chicken, chick peas, Kale, Rice, Cilantro, Cucumbers and tomatoes in a roti wrap. It was pretty good and filling but a lil bland for my taste, probably shouldve asked for some hot sauce but I was busy trying to rendezvous with friends. Had the house made Ginger Lemonade and it was very tart and refreshing and really enjoyable. I would def try it again. Did a Unilocal check in and got free fries but I was already eating so I didnt collect them. Its Americanized Indian food but not bad and I would try again.

It was a clean place, the staff was nice even though my english was bad and it seemed a little difficult to communicate smoothly. She was kind enough to wait for my order, and advised me like wether it’s spicy or some important things. when I was eating, she had another customer, who was a really old guy, he had difficulty to choose menus, she was also being really helpful to him. So I liked the place.

Meh. Very unflavorful, especially for Indian food, and very Americanized Indian food. On top of that, they are skimpy on the sauce and so my bowl didn’t end up tasting all that great. It was also a strange mix of hot sauces and cold sauces. Although it was not awful, I definitely will not return.

I feel like now most places are trying to be like a Chipotle. This is another one! I love Indian food, but I thought the food here was only okay. I think it’s because I didn’t know how to do the right combination to get a tastier end result. So the rice bowl with potatoes I got was just so-so to me. I still kind of just prefer having normal Indian food so maybe the Chipotle style doesn’t work for every type of food.

recently opened. friendly service. clean tables. maybe work out a few details? in short: the wraps are like their mexican cousins, mainly rice fillers and weights a brick. i ordered chicken and asked for potato instead of rice. it was equivalent to an entire potato with very little of anything else. the flavors did not mix well. Unilocal check in: received an order of fries for free(but you can skip it)

I’ll be the first to admit that having Indian food for lunch often sounds unappealing simply because it’s hard to return to my desk and work after a rich, filling, often spicy meal served from an all-you-can-eat buffet. Ironic because I LOVE Indian food. So when I heard about the new fast casual Indian restaurant Chutney Kitchen, which opened up shop in Hell’s Kitchen in February, I couldn’t wait to try it. Chutney Kitchen is the brainchild of former finance 9 – 5’er Silu Sao and her friend since grade school, Pankaj Amin. One morning Sao’s 8-year-old daughter asked her why she was working in finance when all she loved was to cook. That week she quit her hedge fund job and enrolled in culinary school. After 2 years of creating recipes reflecting the fresh, high-quality Indian food she likes to eat at home, Sao opened the restaurant with Amin with the goal of providing a light alternative to this cuisine especially geared toward those with special dietary needs like vegetarians and those who eat gluten-free. The way it works is very much like Chipotle. You choose a base – roti wrap(like a burrito), naan tacos, salad greens, rice bowl, or chaat bowl(garbanzo beans and potatoes) – and then a fill: Charbroiled chicken marinated in yogurt and spices($ 8.95) Pulled pork simmered with tangy spices($ 8.95) Shredded steak marinated in ginger, garlic and chilies($ 9.95) Pan-seared potatoes seared with tumeric, cumin and onions($ 7.95) Farmer’s cheese(Paneer) sauteed with a 5-spice blend($ 8.95) Lentils(Daal) stewed with onions and spices($ 7.95) You can then choose flavors including warm sauces(coconut cashew, tikka, or vindaloo), cold chutneys(date, yogurt, cilantro, or mirchi), and salad dressings(lemon cumin and spicy mango). If you can’t make up your mind(or are just overwhelmed by choices), Chutney Kitchen has some suggestions including the Viva Las Vegas(naan tacos with pulled pork, vindaloo, carrots & cabbage, pickled onions and yogurt and mirchi chutneys) and the Lucy Goosey(Chaat bowl with cucumber and tomatoes, chickpea crunch, and date, yogurt and cilantro chutneys). I opted for the shredded steak chaat bowl with tikka sauce, carrots & cabbage, corn, chickpea crunch, and yogurt chutney washed down with an Aranciata San Pellegrino. The bowl was enough food for 2 meals for me, which I really appreciated. It was flavorful, yet slightly spicier than I expected. If you don’t like spicy, make sure to let the person preparing your food know and they’ll steer you clear of anything you won’t like. Other intriguing items on the menu include masala fries($ 2.50), hot street chai($ 3.50), and mango smoothies($ 3.50). The only thing missing was dessert – I would love to see Sao’s take on gulab jamun!

The new future in fast food. I love Indian food and flavors. This restaurant just popped up and I gave it a try. The people were very inviting and helpful. When ordering at the counter, I had the sense of Chipotle and Wrapido restaurants. Everything ready to be prepared in front of you. This restaurant is not meant to be an authentic Indian meal, but what it is is a great way to get a healthy quick meal with lots of authentic Indian flavor. Mango Lassis, chais, coffee with cardamom. I hope this place really takes off so they’ll build another closer to my apartment. If you see it or are nearby, I say give it a try. Great bit of variety in the flavors so I’ll need to come back.
