Their food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy. I really enjoy the Indian pop music videos they play. The servers are friendly but I think they may be a bit understaffed. All in all my experience with this place has been positive. Definitely recommend it.

Whenever I am craving Indian food, I always make a point to head to Hell’s Kitchen for a great meal at Basera. The prices are so worth it, especially with the Prix Fixe menu. The staff is super friendly. I also love the Bollywood videos that are played in the back corner. If you are hesitant on a drink, I highly recommend the Cha Martini, especially if it’s made by Raj. It’s so delicious with the Stoli Vodka and the freshly brewed chai tea. It’s a great happy hour drink too!

Not the best Indian in the area, although delivery was fast. I got the Yellow Daal and it had a strange smell and flavor, which was disappointing because it’s my go-to Indian dish. I also got the Chicken Tikka Masala, which tasted a little like chicken tikka in Campbell’s tomato soup. The naan was delicious though.

Came here and had the pre-fixe dinner. Thought I couldn’t go wrong for $ 19.95. To start, the service is not great. Waiters cut me off several times while I was speaking and practically ignored us when our glasses of water were empty. We had to flag them down for our check too and skipped dessert because they were taking too long. The food was okay. Not terrible but on the bland side. The pre-fixe came with an appetizer, entrée and dessert. For the appetizer, I selected the samosa. It was very bland– if you told me it was filled with mashed potatoes, I would have believed you because the innards were completely flavorless. For my entrée, I ordered the Goat Curry which comes with rice and my husband ordered the Chicken Curry which also comes with rice. They only served us one rice and told us if we wanted the additional rice, to let them know. YES I WOULDLIKETHERICETHATCOMESWITHMYDINNER. The curries were fine– the chicken was a little on the dry side. The naan was very good. Husband ordered Roti which came crispy…(tho, in Basera’s defense, husband was expecting Carribbean Roti which is not the same thing). None of us suffered food poisoning or anything(the food is just VERYBLAND) but the service here really sucked– and the restaurant was not even at half capacity.

This place is very good– I always get delivery and they are always on time and give good portions of quality food for decent prices. I order from here all the time — The one time they messed up my order they sent me a bunch of free stuff to make up for it, which I was very happy about. The food is good! They use good quality meat — I like the chicken any way they make it. I Definitely recommend for good eats :)

I’ve been here a handful of occasions, I’m happy to report the food & service were both fantastic and consistent. The meals I’ve had here were above average! The first time we stumbled upon this joint was after an off Broadway show. I was definitely surprised to find an affordable indian restaurant in this neighborhood, let alone delicious food. I’m used to going to the east village or Brooklyn for my south asian fix. The décor isn’t much to write about but the food is good enough to write home to mom(she likes Indian food too). They have a fair selection of vegan items on their vegetarian list and can make the naan without butter, excellent! I’ll be sure to come back the next time I’m around the area. This is a solid choice for delicious Indian food!

Flavorless food that gave me a wicked stomachache, Vomited within 2 hours of being there after feeling great all day. What came out looked more appetizing than went in. Dinner prefix has a passive aggressive comment that it shouldn’t be shared. Rude. $ 3 for the smallest cup of tea ever and never refreshed the hot water in it, which they accidentally charged twice. The waiter cordially took it off the bill though — the servers were nice.

We had s great meal. It was worth the walk from Times Square. I had the lamb vindaloo and it was perfect. The coconut paratha was the best I’ve ever had. It is a great choice for Indian and we will definitely be back v

I’ve never visited the actual location but always order lunch from here. Usually, the lunch is delicious. My favorites are the eggplant and spinach veggie lunch specials for $ 9.95. I wish they were more flexible with their orders. Naan comes with your food, but I’ve asked multiple times if I can skip the naan and pay a bit more to get the paratha instead, and they always say no. Also, while their food is good, I had the okra veggie lunch special today, and it was a a great disappointment.

Basera means abode. It wouldn’t be fair if I called this an abode of Indian food nevertheless, the menu has some good options to chose from. The food was decent and the ambience was bearable. The service was average. For those who enjoy some hindinmusic music you have the TV playing some Bollywood songs !!!

Decent option with all the typical Northern Indian entrees one would expect(plus beef which was really, really weird for us). I think the taste was there for most of the dishes but several of the meats were overcooked. Also, note that«spicy» means«Indian spicy» here. The standout was the tandoori chicken which was actually quite wonderful. They also make some really tasty cocktails. We probably wouldn’t go back because there are so many other options in the area, but this one is fine and also a bargain if you order their $ 20 pre fixe menu.

Came for dinner before a show. We all very much enjoyed our food. They had a great happy hour(til 7pm on Saturday) and our server was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!

Veggie and catfish fritters. Cooked perfectly! Beef vindaloo and chicken tikka bash(spinach) both meat also cooked perfect. Naan was great good portions. 20 $ prix fix. Décor is nothing special but better than other Indian places in area. Great Service!

Went for dinner here last night. Was overall not impressed. The evening started with good customer service, once the main meal hit the table it all went downhill from there. The chicken in our meals was dry and amounts very inconsistent. Table was cleared after our meals, waited over ten minutes to get the bill before asking for it. Then took them over 15mins to process the card payment as they kept getting calls on the device they were using for the transaction at one point taking the call. Much to say no tip was left for service. Thankfully we still made it to our show… just. Can say however the cocktails were good.

Came here in the summer. They blast the A/C — not exactly something I want to be noticing or worrying about when enjoying a meal. Service was attentive and didn’t hover. Décor inside is clean, plays indian music and music videos on flatscreens around the walls. I got the chicken tikka masala and a mango lhassi. Naan was delicious and there was a LOT of sauce in the tikka which I appreciated. I did notice, however, that a couple who came in shortly after I did took forever to get their food. While I was paying the bill and leaving, they still hadn’t gotten appetizers and were complaining to the server(and there were 4 – 5 people maximum in the restaurant). Leaves a bad taste in my mouth to see inconsistent service.

This review is for a take out only. I got the aloo gobi, a combination of potatoes and cauliflower. When I walked in the restaurant was totally empty. True to most cheaper indian food places, it was more like a hall where everyone just sits and eats and less like a restaurant. They could liven up the décor a bit. With that said, given this is a take out review, the food shall be the focus herein. I ordered the food spicy, and it was indeed somewhat spicy(though I can tolerate very spicy food). The single order came with rice and I ordered 1 order of naan(2 pieces). The food was very filling overall and the aloo gobi itself was delicious. The sauce was a little runny and I typically enjoy it on the thick side. Overall for the $ 12 I paid for the meal, it was indeed A-Ok!

At first, this place may not look like your fancy Indian restaurant, but the food they serve makes up for the décor. Located on Hell’s Kitchen, Basera’s menu boasts of a an array of fish, chicken, lamb and vegetarian gravies. We had Paneer korma and Chicken Makhani with Garlic n plain naan. The entrees are served with rice which is a descent portion size. However, the staff needs to be a bit polite n not lose their patience while taking orders.

Basera is the kind of restaurant I will walk four avenues in freezing temperature to visit for lunch. Braving the cold makes the arrival of their delicious cuisine all the more rewarding, a vast improvement over the grab and go lunch places that ultimately cost as much, if not more, than the $ 9.95 Basera special.(Places that are swarming with worker bees, long lines and an atmosphere that doesn’t exactly encourage lingering.) Yes, for $ 9.95 you will get rice, you will get naan and you will choose from various meat or vegetarian specialties. You’ll also get the added benefit of listening to and watching a varied playlist of Bollywood hits on the big screen TV.(Which can mean some extra hot performances by the likes of Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra to liven up the day. Watching a bikini clad chorus of dancers twisting virtual light bulbs does have its benefits.) I haven’t had a bad lunch at Basera, no travesties of watery curry, burnt bread or uninspired rice. I like to upgrade my naan with paneer and usually start with a samosa. Even if you elect not to tamper with the $ 9.95 formula, portions are generous enough that you should not leave hungry. Two standouts in the chicken family are worth mentioning: chicken tikka saag and chettinad chicken. I was never a fan of spinach and always found Popeye trying but with a creamy spinach mix like this, I’m ready to reconsider the leafy green. Chunks of chicken populate the surrounding sea of green, chunks that are tender, juicy and abundant. Dip the naan into the saag to experience added bliss, especially if the naan has paneer. Up next is chettinad chicken, cooked in black pepper, curry leaf and red chili sauce. There’s heat but manageable heat that doesn’t require reaching for a glass of milk. Watch out for staining a white shirt. I had to contain my enthusiasm for the dish by carefully watching my movements so as to avoid soiling my new shirt. Just like the tikka saag, there was enough chicken for two medium servings which translates to just what I crave at a large sit down out of office lunch. Staff has always been friendly and observant, quick with water refills and with processing the check. Apparently there’s a happy hour here as well with $ 5 cocktails that I will have to investigate. Basera has worked its way into my lunch time rotation and I am ready to eat my way through the menu.

The best thing about Basera is the high quality all-white super tender chicken they use for their curries. I hate places that try to pawn off their disgusting, low quality chicken on the customer, hoping we won’t notice because it’s smothered in a curry sauce. Well, not so at Basera! The chicken literally falls apart with a fork and is delicious white meat chicken. APPETIZERS: We ordered the assorted vegetable platter. I loved that the veggie samosa is a little spicy — it has some kick. The soy patties were also perfectly crisped. ENTREES: As I already raved about, the chicken is high quality. The vindaloo and tikka masala sauces were a little bland — they tasted a little«Americanized.» Even though I asked for medium-spicy, my tikka masala was very mild. Maybe next time I’ll ask for super spicy. The mutter paneer is really good. I’d like to try some more of the vegetarian entrees based on that. BREADS/RICE: The garlic stuffed naan is perfect and delicious. I was even impressed with the plain basmati rice. AMBIANCE: The restaurant is CLEAN and HUGE. We came on a Sunday evening and although there were quite a few people in the restaurant, it was nice that we weren’t sitting in somebody else’s lap the way you feel at a lot of places in Hell’s Kitchen.

Really fantastic Indian food. Especially, considering this is midtown and everything is over-priced and mediocre or commercial. But no. Hidden hole in the wall. Also, you get 10 or 15 percent off of your bill with checking in on Unilocal.Awesome Pants! They have a happy hour special here that I did not check out largely to being both morbidly depressed and insanely hungover. But there are deals on their cocktails and wine from both 12−2pm on weekdays and again 5pm-8pm and Saturday happy hour 2pm-6pm. Lunch specials entail any entrée with rice and naan for only $ 8.95. Prix fixe dinner: $ 19.95 for the choice of an appetizer, entrée, and side rice with naan. I decided to go with Lamb Tikka Masala and ordered it spicy. I was pleasantly surprised that it was almost legit spicy for being a cream sauce. Normally I go with Vindaloo but had a feeling that that would just not settle well with my stomach. Split an order of regular naan with my friend. He ordered the Chicken Makhani, which I swear is the same as tikka masala. It just claims that it has more aromatic spices and it was much more mild. I was impressed though with how tender and moist the lamb was in my dish. Definitely one of the better Indian restaurants that I have visited in a long while. Also, their happy hour specials in combination with this are pretty amazing. Very laid back and we were well catered to with the staff coming by regularly and at the appropriate moments to make sure we were doing well.
