I came here for happy hour. They have margarita specials at HH so I thought I would give it a shot. 2 for 1 was the deal. We also got chips and guacamole. It was all very meh. The margs were premixed and very sugary. The chips and guac were not that great. The guac did not taste that fresh. For positives, the service was good and the bartender was very friendly.

For the love of EXTREMEFAJITASNACHOS! cute hole in the wall that now expanded and have a side bar space. Must try –nachos with steak. it is crisp thin corn tortilla with cheese, jalapenos and pieces of steak all oven cooked. It is mexican pizza. Also, try the queso dip with chili-one of the few places that give generous portions of cheese dip with chili. standard fare tacos– short rib is with slow cooked ribs in it and shrimps are my all time favorites and you can ask them in el dorado shell which is crisps and soft shells glued together by bean paste. Empanadas are another all time apps that you can order with beef, chicken or caramel and guava for dessert. Very budget friendly place with lovely service.

Solid 4 and we’re pretty picky. My friend and I order from Lime Jungle every Friday night. Some nights are amazing and you can really tell they pay attention to detail, and others they blatantly do not. We love the East LA Burrito no cheese with extra chicken and EXTRA, extra green sauce.(Love It.) the chihuahuas always get a Chicken Taco(or two). Solid food when they aren’t overwhelmed.

Great salads, great salsa bar, great margs, great prices. I love this place and eat there everytime I come to nyc. Sometimes more than once.

How is this place getting bad reviews? My former bestie and I went here every chance we got, as she worked close by. Short rib tacos are all that! The caramel flan is second to none. I never tasted flan so good. The prices are MEGA cheap. I am in love with this place. I just do not get the reviews.

Always consistently good. The slim burrito is awesome! You must must try the green sauce! It is incredibly addictive.

A fiercely hot pipe burned me during my meal. The waitstaff knew the pipe was there(how could they not, i cant be the first person burned) and i received no warning nor sympathy as i sat holding an icy glass against my arm. The service and food were unexceptional. Maybe a little slow. Their elote sucked, the corn was underdone, nearly cold.

A couple of Sundays ago I was on a date and we were just casually walking back to the apartment when the lady said«Happy Hour»… I mean WHO doesn’t appreciate Happy Hour on a late Sunday night??? It doesn’t look like a regular Mexican restaurant and I appreciated that, they wanted to stand out. We got every flavor margarita, Banana and Passion Fruit being the best. Then we ordered 1 empanada of every flavor… They kept bringing out two at a time and it felt like they got better as each one came. The best being the cuban and seafood one. Though I really enjoyed the Polish and Hawaiian ones a lot. Overall my experience was great. I would like to come again for dinner and see if their food is as good as their drinks and empanadas.

I’m surprised. This place was awesome for happy hour. Great hard liquor happy hour specials. I had two mojitos that were very strong and a great sangria drink with one empanada made of fish. This cost me like 15 bucks plus tip. The ambiance was cool. The place was not crowded at all for a Thursday night and our bartender Eric was chill and friendly. Another server was nice and charged my phone near the other counter. I would totally recommend this place for happy hour. I didn’t eat any dinner or food at this place so I can’t review the restaurant. But, it was great for cheap fancy drinks at a cool locale. The empanada did take 30 minutes to arrive, so maybe the food service is slow, so come here for strong, tasty happy hour drinks!

I’m really not that picky, this was a go to spot for my boyfriend and I when we went to John Jay– good service and good food. The recent times I have went, I ordered the ceviche(seafood cooked with lime/lemon, they serve the version with tomato sauce) and both time, have left me with intolerable pain in my stomach along with nausea. I don’t know– I used to ordered these before with no problem but no? Forget about it– the food has also been taking longer to be served and the waitresses aren’t as nice as before.

Do not come here for brunch with groupon. They will not honor it. Great service but this is a heads up since it is not in the fine print. Beware! At that price, it’s not worth the brunch with unlimited drink prices compared to the rest of the city.

I order from and my orders are usually late and the lady on the phone is usually rude. The only thing that keeps me coming back is their mama empanada, it’s so damn good. I usually order tacos too.

Food=4 Service=0 &%$#@ «Lady on the phone» called me a liar for saying I didn’t get what I ordered. I ordered tacos(for the fourth time) and they didn’t include sauces/salsas. I called to say this, she claimed she prepared my package and that I had them. Calling a costumer a liar, and pretending you can have tacos without sauces… two really bad things. SODISRESPECTFUL

It’s hard to find good mexican in NYC(why oh why is that the case?), but still — you should really only come here out of desperation. It’s more on the Tex-Mex side of things and is one of the only places in the city where I have seen queso on the menu. The guacamole was so-so, blended completely smooth. Chips were decent — yellow corn, a little bit thick, not very salty. The cheese in the fried empanada was completely bland. Just strange and thick and stretchy and no flavor what so ever. The day we went they were not serving alcohol, which seemed weird. Very small inside, but was not crowded for an earlyish dinner on a Sunday. Overall if you are walking by and really jonesin for a fix, you could stop in. I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

I will always love the nachos here. Even though they aren’t a traditional plate of nachos, the 4 large tortilla triangles topped with cheese, beans and jalapenos are delicious. Seriously, these nachos are so good I could eat 10 servings! The veg burrito filled with rice, cheese, onions & peppers is ok… nothing too spectacular but not bad at all. The green hot sauce is pretty good and the dark red one packs a little punch! Try mixing them together… YUM. I think I prefer the old Lime Jungle though(the smaller one a few blocks up). This one is bigger and much«fancier» than the old hole-in-the-wall.

I’ve been to Lime Jungle twice now, and I don’t get the negative reviews for this place. The food is quite tasty, the atmosphere is casual but inviting, and the service is adequate… and, as many of the other Unilocal!reviewers point out, the prices are inexpensive! I mean, I don’t generally go out looking for a Masa or a Le Bernardin… I’m more of casual meal type of guy, and Lime Jungle fits that mold perfectly. Over my two visits to Lime Jungle, I’ve tried the tacos, the nachos, the fajitas, the guacamole, and the margaritas. All were exceptional, and I’d order any of them again. Sure, they’re not traditional Mexican style and closer to Tex-Mex, but I’m a fan of Tex-Mex, so that doesn’t bother me. Plus, Lime Jungle has a salsa bar for«fixing up» your meal… how cool is that!!! At the back of the restaurant, they’ve built a kiosk where they feature several different salas(some tomato and some tomatillo based) that are yours for the taking! Nom!!! They range from mild to hot, and all are delicious. As for the margaritas, I’m usually a fan of the traditional kind on the rocks, but Lime Jungle has an awesome frozen one with that they swirl with sangria! Try it; it’s soooo awesome!

I know, quick update, but a few hours after this meal, a few of us did not feel well. Something about the food just wasn’t sitting well with any of us and we all either had headaches, stomach aches, were bloated or just felt off. Not sure if we just ate way too much or if it was the food, but either way, I’m a little skeptical now…

Under $ 10 lunch specials. Big, corner space, funky smelling bathrooms. Food is serviceable– my $ 8 veggie quesadillla with onions, peppers and mushrooms and cheese was tasty served with guac., sour cream and a small ice-berg salad plus chips. Would have like some zucchini in the quesadilla. Food is supposed to be a healthier version of the standard Mex, fare. Very quick and agreeable service. Really like the salsa bar, which is unusual in anything but a taqueria.

more like 2.5 stars. I tried this place tonight after walking around for a while, in the rain, looking for a restaurant. We finally settled on this place, though I wish I had known the original location a few blocks up was better. The food here was very meh. No real spice to anything, which is why they offer a salsa and sauce«bar.» The salsas and the small empinadas were the highlight. Mediocre burrito, decent chicken, and piss poor rice and black beans. This place is mediocre at best, and my wife said it best, Chipotle takes this place to the ground. The only good thing? It’s cheap.
