Pretty decent food, I enjoyed my burrito with tomatillo sauce and the portion size was good. The prices are a little in the high side, but that’s to be expected given the area. What made me give the place a 4 rather than a 5 was the service; really slow, and we had to request the same items a few times(hot sauce, drink requests, etc.). I’d try going back, but not on a weekend.

Fajita cannot be an easy menu to né failed, but mine here was not that good at all… I think it was lack of seasoning… The service was not that bad though. Margarita for $ 5 for all day is a pretty good deal yet Will go back only for drinks nwzt time.

Used to go here fairly often for average but reliable Mexican food. Recently, though, they increased their prices and decreased their portions, without changing what goes into the dishes in ways that might justify that. In the future I’ll just be going to El Centro up 9th Avenue. No reason to pay more for less food.

NOTE: They just changed the restaurant name/sign. It’s now«RANCHOTEQUILERIA».

A very mediocre Mexican restaurant trying to be a High End Tapas Bar. The food is not great but not bad either. The prices are ridiculously high for the equally ridiculously low quantity for instant $ 14 for FOUR stuffed Jalapeño i kid you not FOUR. $ 20 for Jack and Coke No S***T. I get it they are located in Hell’s Kitchen but they not worth its.

Only stayed for hand made margarita with salt and happy nachos. I think nachos are smaller than during regular hours but still good. Really friendly staff and atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. Happy hour drew a crowd so I guess others happy too!

Love that this place has spicy salsa. The guAc was good too. We came on a Sunday for brunch and the unlimited drink deal. It’s a little bit more expensive than other other brunch deals. The brunch menu that you had to order from if you were doing the unlimited drink deal was limited too –mostly containing breakfast items and at 230 I was ready for lunch! The servers are hard to speak with– it took me ten minutes to ask for a reservation bc the woman couldn’t understand English well enough. The manager did come by several times to check on us and refill our drinks. Overall I would go back but probably with a smaller group.

Major Turn Off –they automatically charge every customer an 18% surcharge(we only had two in our party) without telling you! The food is so not worth it either. I found out about the surcharge AFTER I left the restaurant and looked at my bill and realized that I tipped 20% on top of the surcharge. When I tried to call the restaurant from the phone number listed on top of the receipt, the number was an unlisted phone number! What’s wrong with you guys? This is a sneaky snake business operation and should not cheat their customers and should not be supported. The music is way too loud anyway. There are plenty of restaurants that don’t try to rip off their customers. Who let their customers decide how much of a tip they deserve. Really lame experience all around.

Good, local Mexican spot. Clean, although dim and my vision isn’t exactly 20⁄20. Anyway, we’re here for the other sense. Taste. The food and drinks have been good so far. I’ve dined here about half a dozen times and the drinks, maragitas-of course have not disappointed. The guac, nachos, churrasco and enchiladas are not bad either. No complaints on service. I’ll be coming back.

if you want authentic Mexican food, you’re probably looking at the wrong restaurant. The food was very bland and the drinks not so good either. Both my quesadilla & my friends enchilada tasted exactly the same! The service was decent but I don’t think I’ll be returning again.

The taco combo(served with rice and beans) were tasty. I loved the HH menu. The service was ideal: they follow-up, checked in, even when they got busy(do you ever notice when waiters and waitress tend to «forgot» about you when it gets busy? It happens all the time. I really liked coming here after work and some place end up being really packed, can’t get you in. We got a spot in the bar and wasn’t bothered, it didn’t get too packed and overall we enjoyed ourselves. the food was properly placed on the plate and I think this places was ideal. Will we ever go back. I don’t know if it was that good, but its a great spot to try if your in the area. TIP: Carnitas are always a hit or miss. I’ve been to places and I get the fat sometimes. I don’t know if the chefs are paying attention when placing in the tortilla, but my friend got a fatty one. Which means you can’t eat it, It’s a waste, and I never feel right saying something about it. Any who I suggests to get the carnitas BC its tasty, but maybe if one is fatty then you say something otherwise get the chicken and steak. I enjoyed it very much so…

We walked into Green Rancho after we attended an after party in Chelsea– a very boozy Visual AIDS event by the EDGE postcard art exhibition at The Luhring Augustine gallery. We were greeted warmly by the staff and were seated promptly in the middle of the restaurant. The space was modest in size, but they still managed to have room for a full bar that served cocktails and some original concoctions towards the right hand side of the restaurant. The ambiance was festive and warm, but a little bit dark for a Nyctophobia. The restaurant manager came to our table and welcomed us with a complementary guacamole and nachos, and again a shot of tequila for everyone when we asked for the check. +1 star for that special personal touch! The frozen margaritas suited perfectly well with guacamole and nachos, which made them great dinner starters. For my main entrée, I chose steak and chicken fajitas served with tortillas, Mexican yellow rice and beans and some garnishes. It was sizzling hot when it was served to me. My friends had a Rancho burger and traditional pollo mole that were equally delicious and plated nicely(I stole a few bites!) I will definitely consider coming back here whenever I crave for Mexican cuisine.

***Decent and Convenient Mexican Restaurant*** Chicken mole burrito did not have the tastiest mole sauce. Was also meager in size… when I go to a sit-down restaurant and order a burrito, I expect a sizable entrée… this was even smaller than Chipotle. It would have been better complemented with beans and rice instead of shredded lettuce. Nevertheless, it was still pretty good. Sangria is on the sweeter side but still pretty good and relatively cheap during happy hour(5−7p) if you’re eating early. Makes this place a decent option if you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a convenient, casual early dinner. Pros: Relatively affordable and easy to snag a table without reservations in HK. Cons: You can do better in the ‘hood food wise. FINALVERDICT: Not bad as a Plan B or casual spot but there’s better food nearby.

$ 5 margaritas for happy hour! Of course you will find me here. There coconut margarita is on point. I’ve been to places were the coconut just doesn’t taste quite right, but this place is definitely not one of those. I had finger food here too, the nachos for $ 5 which was decent, but nothing great. The flautas was tasty, but a bit on the chewy side I prefer it crunchy. However, I truly enjoyed their home made fries, I dip it in ranch and I am in heaven. You’ll be seeing me here for happy hour.

Very friendly service and good margaritas. I was a little disappointed in my chimichanga. It looked great on the plate when I received it, and the first few bites were good, but when I got toward the middle it started leaking grease like crazy. The cooks need to drain the ground beef more thoroughly. My friend liked his chicken and rice very much. There was a mix up with our starter of empanadas but the staff and manager handled that well so it wasn’t a big deal at all. Also, they oddly serve a lot of things with a side of hard tortilla chips. What’s up with that? It doesn’t make any sense to me. There was nothing to eat them with and they were too bulky to enjoy just as chips. It’s not the top Mexican place in the hood, but I’ll probably come back and try another dish.
