Consulate General of the Republic of Poland

Ok experience. but likely because my expectations were quite low.
After years of procrastinating, I finally went and applied and submitted all documents to obtain polish citizenship. I had to hand in my American birth certificate, my parents marriage certificate, and a slew of other documents. I have never gone through a more disorganized office.
After calling and receding useful information on what I need to bring, downloading the application from their poorly organized website, I arrive to for my appointment to be told I filled out the wrong 10 page application, and I need to instead fill out a different, much longer one. With short answer essay questions. Wtf!
It was a painful and a bit pricey process… but as I expected.
If you’re familiar with Polish or Eastern European people, you wouldn’t expect good or even decent customer service. Bring your documents, your *CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY* and your game face… because you’ll have to use it. Otherwise they won’t respect you and just be quite rude. Just be prepared and get it done!

Beautiful architecture inside and out. The cultural events here are hard to top. It really is the epicenter of the diaspora in a city where there is plenty of other cultural activity.

Very poor customer service, extremely rude, not helpful at all just horrible experience I had there. I called once to embassy to register for election it happens that I spoke with Ewa Kocon. This women was very rude, the way I was spoken to shocked me, this individual most definitely doesn’t have customer service skills. I would imagine that people working in institutions like that would have some respect for people that calling there to ask questions, cause that is there job, to help polish citizens here in United States. When I asked to be transfer to the manager or superior Ewa Kocon told me that «no one is going to talk to you because they don’t have time for that». Polish embassy most definitely need to change people that works there and invest in their training on customer service skills. Its not communism anymore and they can’t treat people like that.

What Customer Service?!
It’s impossible to get through to them. Even if you happen to understand what they are saying, in Polish or English, as they speed through 4 digit extensions you need to dial to leave a message, THEY WILL NEVER CALL YOU BACK!
My elderly mother called with questions, left message, and never heard from them. So I called, left another message, nothing.
It seems to me that even though we live in a Customer Service oriented country, where in general things run more efficiently, in the Polish Consulate in New York everyone and everything works like it does in the old Poland; unresponsively, and ineffectively.

I like consulate and ambassador venues in general or the venues they use for cultural events — because they look almost like museums. I have seen at least 3 in NYC as an event attendee and this one may be the most beautiful so far. Film opening event. Loved everything (not the film itself so much)
