This place absolutely deserves every, single star. The food is AMAZING and the service is unbeatable. They are a friendly group who knows how to serve up a delicious meal!

Homey atmosphere – right down to the clattering steam radiators staving off the chill. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. I ordered a Tuna Melt and received a barely melted piece of cheese and ice-cold french fries. It wasn’t that the food got cold on my walk back to the office – the tuna was thoroughly chilled so there must have been little heat applied while prepping the sandwich. In fact, the cheese was barely warped. Ugh! The simply dressed salad that came with the meal was, well, simple, but the greens were very fresh. The tuna itself wasn’t bad, but for $ 10.50 I really expected more. Comfort food should comfort you, but all I am is annoyed.

#foodiechats this small, cozy café is TriBeCa’s little secret. With a private cocktail room that looks like someone’s home, you can have a party Christmas party or an engagement party in an environment that is both pretty and very, very friendly. I had lunch here few times and the food is made with love and #yummy. I had a BLT that was crispy & tasty, a hot chocolate that knocked my socks off and everything else is solid. Don’t skip this place!

I decided to use this place for my birthday for 25 – 30 friends back in April after the great experience I had here a few weeks prior. I had booked the private room in the back and it was a set menu. I think this place might have been too small for our large group since we needed to ask the waitstaff for glasses of water(they weren’t provided) and then several of the dishes were overcooked, including my eggs benedict(you would cut through the egg and the yolk was almost to hard boiled egg status). When the bill came, we were charged for 30 attendees even though there were only 25 who attended and fewer who actually ordered food. We were told that they needed to charge us full price for those who attended because they made the place settings. All in all, they readjusted the bill down from 30 to 25, but we were overcharged more than $ 75 since they charged us for people who didn’t order anything. This was the first year I decided to use a different venue for my birthday… think I might go back to my old place next year.

OMGOMG there is a spot that sells crepes near WTC. I have always passed this spot but always when they were closed! Well not today because it’s Saturday at 11am and they gotta be open! YAYYY! They’re open! Walk in… The sign said please wait to be seat. Well I’m waiting and waiting… F this ill seat myself! Waiter finally comes over with the menu and leaves. Well now I’m waiting again because I already know what I want… Ugh! Smh I see their poor selection of sweet crepes… Right when I was about to leave some lady puts a glass of tap water down. Now I HAVE to stay. Great! I made my own crêpe of raspberries, white chocolate and banana! WOOSAAAAHH…(Head down while nearly in tears) I was in disbelief CORRECTION I am still in disbelief that who so ever made this thing of a crêpe basically gave me thick box pancake mix with some overripe bananas and like TWO drops of white chocolate… Thank God for raspberries! OR was this some sort of insidious plan to make me buy a drink! Well guess what?! I already ordered an espresso that was just as HORRIBLE! So your not so smart Mr. Cook!!! I was so upset! I stormed out of there $ 14 lighter still craving something sweet! NEVERAGAIN!

Sadly our soggy crêpe with under seasoned, under cooked and generally under par food reminded us of the blander side of Europe. Gastronomically not worth the 4*. Service was friendly, if spotty, but perhaps we are just too accustomed to a spicier diet. So, Avoid if you are looking for a tasty brunch, but for a quiet conversation over a coffee and a croissant, perfect.

The ambiance is fantastic, an oasis of peace in the middle of Manhattan. It is small, cozy, and a little pricey, but the quality and the atmosphere are worth it. You feel like being threw back at the time of literary café where writer used to meet and discuss of life and masterpieces of literature. Great for breakfast, lunch and tea with friends.

Great little brunch place — we had no issues getting a table(of two), and the host/server was really nice. We each got a pot of tea(tea bags, but still, a pot of tea is nice!) and the menu was good lookin’. It was a little crafty to construct a vegan option, but I had delicious oatmeal(with fresh fruit on top) and a side of roasted potatoes. Honestly, the oatmeal would’ve been enough, but the roasted potatoes were so delish. The place is very vegetarian friendly, as I’d expect most breakfast places are. The atmosphere was very cute and quiet(in a good way), that made catching up with an old friend all the better.

The space is great the coffee could be better. Reminds me of a café in Paris.

4 stars? Really? Maybe we just got the bad crew. Service was terrible. There were two servers for breakfast today. We had to wave someone down for anything and everything we wanted. Not once were we offered any coffee or water. When I finally did convince someone I could use more coffe in the tiny little coffee cup i was given, I was poured half a cup. The real talent on display today was table clearing and it seemed top priority. Clear off those tables and make room for the saps waiting to be ignored. The food was OK. The pancakes were forgettable. The. Eggs were decent. My charitable wife couldn’t bring herself to leave a $ 0 tip but i really wanted her to.

I really wanted to like this place based on the other reviews, but the service was so bad I couldn’t rate it any better than a two. We had to ask for our drinks when they didn’t come. We had to wait a good ten minutes to get the server’s attention when something was incorrect. We had to ask for my friend’s second food item. We had to hunt her down to ask for our check. She had two tables, so it’s not like she was overwhelmed, and it’s not as if any of our requests were unreasonable. A waitress in a small place should just be a hell of a lot more attentive. The food was good, but I ordered too much, which annoys me, because I asked the waitress if the omelet comes with anything(there’s no sides listed for this item on the menu, but there are for other items). I was told no so I ordered an overpriced side dish, but hey, if it doesn’t come with anything, that’s fine — I wanted something other than just my omelet. Then it came with a salad and potatoes. I couldn’t eat everything I got, and I paid more for it. As a frugal person in this economy, crap like that really bothers me. I don’t like wasting money unnecessarily and also when I ask a simple question I should get the right answer. Heck, even say you don’t know, check, and get back to me. That’s fine. Just don’t give me the wrong information. Maybe the owner is really nice when he’s there for events and whatnot, but he should make sure his servers are actually doing their jobs well when he isn’t present. The place is cute but I’m unlikely to return due to the inattentive and generally poor service. If the owner cares about customers and repeat business, he should retrain the staff or hire new people.

Just about the cutest, coziest, charming, brunch spot in Manhattan. Waitstaff/owner are super nice and the food is simply scrumptious. Love their backroom, it is like something out of Alice in Wonderland!

Deserves a 3.5… not yet a 4 stars. the yogurt is yummy… but its a simple/can be made at home parfait. yogurts, cut fruits, simple granola. the french toast was quite yummy… definitely a 4 stars. but again. the flavors weren’t anything spectacular. just a yummy-simple french toast. same things with the eggs. potatos are straight from a frozen bag of potatoes. not fresh.

I have no idea how this place has a 4 star average. It was what made me decide to come here, over all the other amazing brunch spots in TriBeCa. Huge mistake. It’s a small restaurant, but even so when we came in at 1pm for brunch it was not crowded. We ordered the Vermont yogurt to begin(was OK, nothing special) and a $ 3.50 croissant which was the lamest excuse for a croissant I’d ever seen. It was not only small, but also cold. I have no idea how this place makes money if it charges $ 3.50 for airport sub-par food. For our main meals, we ordered the pancakes and eggs breakfast plate. The food is really nothing special — I could do a better job making the same dish in my own kitchen. The service was ATROCIOUS. We had to request a few things multiple times(orange juice, water, etc.) before they actually brought it. Overall, I have no idea how this places survives and makes money in TriBeCa. Don’t waste your time coming here.

NYC is packed with good brunch spots, so when I began my search I was definitely overwhelmed. What drew me to this café was the low prices and small amount of reviews. I didn’t want another mainstream, crowded spot with overpriced mimosas and 20-minute waits. I just wanted a quaint little restaurant with some decent-priced nom-noms. This café really delivered. The atmosphere is very old-European. We sat at a small round table right next to a faux fire place and a mini library of old hardcover books. Our lattes(and yes, they had soy milk!) were served in cute little glasses that reminded me of those used for Irish Coffees. I really just wanted to pull out an antique edition of Jane Eyre and read for the rest of my day. The espresso was«good enough»(nothing spectacular). I ordered the quiche of the day(I can never turn down quiche!). I will admit that it wasn’t the absolute best quiche I’ve had(it was a little heavier than I prefer), but it still delighted me. I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a quiet, affordable brunch in Lower Manhattan.

Unilocal rarely leads you wrong but unfortunately today just wasn’t our day here. It had everything going for it. Cute little french inspired café. Friendly service. Not so great food. First off, we were sat right under a dripping air conditioner. Not the ingredient you want in your food, or the splash you want on your head while eating. So we moved, ordered what looked to be a promising spread. I have an affinity for eggs Benedict, so I was all about that. Come to find out they put a boiled egg on top and scrimp on the hollandaise sauce. Seriously, it wasn’t supposed to be a hard boiled egg. It was supposed to be a soft boiled egg so when you cut in the yoke pours out. Not the case. Add to the fact that nothing had flavor and you’ve lost out on a good meal. Too bad, brunch is something so easy to make! Skip this and go somewhere were they do their Benedict right!

–Very long wait for our food(while the place was virtually empty) –No refills on our water(unless we beckoned the waitress over) –What?! No bread basket?! –«What’s pullman bread?» asks a diner [it’s listed as the bread for one of their sandwiches on the menu], «What’s what? Oh, they don’t use that bread.» Uhhhhm, so why’s it on the menu? –Wobbly table –My crostini tasted a lot like really salty bagel bites. = No repeat business from me, sorry. =( The place is cute and seemingly French. The menu is tres Americain + «French» onion soup.

It was such a nice impromtu lunch experience here this past Saturday. I was lucky to get a seat by the window and it was fun to watch the locals and the tourists(café is part of or right next to a hotel). Great area of Tribeca also. Would be cool to become a regular here. I had a most delicious Florentine Crêpe! And I overheard other customers complimenting their food to the waiter as well. Oh the cutest thing, I got a latte which was brought with a whole portrait on the foam.

We happened upon Cosmopolitan Café after failing to find a different café that had apparently shut down, and I’m glad we ended up at this place! It was very cozy, and the desserts, espresso, and other drinks were wonderful. I didn’t get a chance to try the food, but it looked delicious! The staff was very warm and friendly and made me wish I lived nearby so I could become a regular.
