At first, I was never huge fan of crepes. The only crepes I ever had prior to Crêpe Monster was at a cheap all you can eat buffet and I must say the crepes there were simply not the best. After ordering food at Food Gallery 32, I just happened to stumble upon the Crêpe Monster shop on the top floor. The menu was right in your face as soon as you check it out, with options visible on the display counter, as well as mounted television sets. The staff was also friendly and courteous. Instantly, I was greeted with a smile and was recommended the Red Rabbit with ice cream by an employee. After agreeing with her suggestion, I ordered the Red Rabbit right away. The crêpe was made delicately right in front of me with numerous options available for additional toppings. After trying the completed crêpe, I was amazed at the plethora of flavours coming out from a simple dessert. Unfortunately, this place closed down as the owners went on «hiatus». Hopefully, they will come back and open shop again.

CLOSED!!! BUTBUT … WHYYY??? D= This place had absolutely amazing crepes and it didn’t matter where we were having dinner … this is where I wanted to get dessert. I’ve had so many crepes in my life and it really is something hard to master. But this place had it down to the T. They had a great selection of toppings, from mochi to fruits, and even ice creams … oh man that taro *drool*. I REALLY hope that they re-open, open another location, or even start a truck soon. I’m beginning to have crêpe withdrawls … =\.

(review on its ‘Red Rabbit’) Nice name, but bad taste! Unless you’re a crazy sugar lover, otherwise, stay away from the ‘Red Rabbit’ crêpe! The whole thing has like 2184829 grams of sugar imo. Super sweet condense milk + sugary mochi + so-called red bean ice cream when it looks like strawberry ice cream and the red beans are hard = REDRABBITCREPE($ 7). It was soooo sweet that I couldn’t even finish the whole thing. Also, the ice cream was melting like crazy and it was dripping the whole time. Super messy to eat so I just gave up. I think it’s better to stick with its salty crepes.

Woot woot! Cheap and good crêpe place in town! The ice cream here is from the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory and is simply delish! Check out my blog for more detail and photos. Link is on my profile!

First off, the location listed for this review is wrong. Crêpe Monster is actually located between 5th&6th Aves on the west side. After work, my coworker and I spent some time looking for the place and finally stumbled across the place last minute. It is located in Koreatown on the 2nd floor above Red Mango. The crepes are amazing and different than any other traditional crepes. The crepes are jumbo-sized and«Tokyo-style» meaning they wrap them up and serve them like ice cream(i’m guessing??). No need for utensils!!! I ordered the strawberry-banana-nutella crêpe which was to die for! The crêpe was freshly made, hot and HUGE! My friend ordered the Red Rabbit… which she enjoyed as well. The venue is laidback and perfect for a casual date or group of friends. I absolutely love the place and the crepes. Will def come back again!!!

This place is HORRIBLE! it’s the worst crêpe I’ve ever had. Besides the food, their service is terrible. I am sure it’s different depending on who is working. But when my friend and I went there around 4−5ish pm on Wednesday, workers there were terrible. We are both Koreans so the language wasn’t the problem. We were deciding what we should get and weren’t really sure. So we asked one of the workers for recommendation and she just«threw us the menu» and said«look in the menu.» Then when we ordered the girls there didn’t even know how to make it. They tore the crêpe while flipping it. The crêpe looked terrible and I was really upset(they were rude and the food was terrible). So I told the workers that this looks like shit and we want a new proper one and they said their crepes«suppose to look like that.» WHATTHEHELL! Seriously, this place is the worst place I’ve ever been. so DON’T expect too much from them.

I’ve tried both the Red Rabbit and Milk Toastie. I would definitely recommend the Red Rabbit. Located in a food court. I would recommend getting the Red Rabbit with the ice cream. I’d also recommend splitting it.

Not my first crêpe, but it is my first crêpe in NYC. Their take on the Tokyo crêpe is definitely Americanized(the bigger is better ideal). I ordered the Baby Beast(one scoop ice cream + one spread + one topping); taro ice cream, nutella, and mochi(weird combo, I know). This was a perfect size; no messy fallout, and it was still filling. The pastry part of the crêpe was decadent and soft and I was chomping away pretty happily, until I neared the end of the«cone» and realized how mochi jam packed it was… I love mochi, but not mochi coma. I should’ve ordered strawberries instead. It’s not too expensive; it’s like paying for a cup of ice cream at ben and jerry’s but actually getting your money’s worth. The staff is nice and polite, the menu is a little unprofessional(tattered construction paper scattered in rectangles). They really should make a website with more info about the menu or update their twitter. I admit I’m biased; I’ve had Belly Good Crepes in SF, and I was actually hoping that this would be similar. But beggars can’t be choosers seeing as how Crêpe Monster is the only crêpe place of this variety in the city(why?!) P. S. I was prepared for cash only, but hopefully one day they’ll stop that.

The food court is packed on the weekends. I ordered their strawberry crêpe. which was not bad… but i found that there was a lack of ingredients. Nonetheless, it was enjoyable to eat. It is pricey if you add more toppings… especialy with ice cream and fruits… hmm… Note: Cash-Only… Note #2 — My guy friend said… the guy whos making the crepes is also handling cash at the same time… hmm…

Get the red rabbit, thank me when you’re done. It’s just… amazing. I didn’t know what to expect from red bean ice cream, mochi, condensed milk within a crêpe. I dripped melted ice cream all over my hands and face and it was completely worth it.

$ 5.50 for a Frankenstein crêpe consisting of blueberries, strawberries and nutella. It tasted so fresh and there was the perfect balance of filling v. crêpe. It just tasted awesome and not unreasonably priced. I will be back for more!

Third floor $ 5 Milktoaster crêpe: torn-up raisin toast drizzled with condensed milk, rolled into a crispy crêpe Bring your kid. Fun. They pour, cook, build and fold the crepes before your eyes. Little kids will enjoy that. (They seem still to be getting the knack, which is cute.) Nice staff.

Surprisingly, NYC is rather lacking in Tokyo-style crepes. I actually have a long, fond memory of eating Tokyo-style crepes(often with ice cream, red bean and mochi fillings, and fruits) growing up in Los Angeles. Thus I was pretty excited to discover this new crêpe place inside Food Gallery 32. The bf and I came here one night after dinner, and decided to share one crêpe since we were both pretty full. I ordered the customized crêpe with 2 mix-in fillings, 2 scoops of ice cream, and one spread, I think for $ 7. The ice cream they serve is from Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, which I suppose it of pretty good quality considering the retail price point of that supplier. Our crêpe consisted of a the nutella spread, strawberries, bananas, one scoop of taro and one scoop of black sesame ice cream. Overall I found the crêpe skin to be a little too tender, as I prefer my Tokyo-style crepes to have crispy edges. Although they serve their crepes in a cone like the way it’s supposed to be done, the crêpe skin becomes a little limp due to the hearty filling inside. Crêpe Monster is nothing special, and certainly does not compare to Harajuku Crepes in Beverly Hills or Genki Living in Arcadia, but I guess it’s a good alternative to the usual desserts I usually get here in the city. Oh yea, it’s cash only.

Located in a huge plaza/building in the middle of Ktown. Because Paris Baguette was closed, me and my friends went across the street to this place. It’s basically a food court with various types of Korean Food and dessert. It has a fairly large Red Mango on the bottom floor which is self-serve. The top floors have many restaurants and the crêpe monster. There is lots of seatings and it’s open late. Definitely a plus, especially in Ktown. The crepes are decent priced for being in New York. They are fairly small though. Cash only, which sucks. You can pick what kind of ice cream and toppings you want. They also serve various other hot beverages like coffee and lattes. The whole floor is covered with tables and seats. The bathrooms are located in the corner and they even have a water cooler for the public. All in all, it’s a good place to hang out and grab dessert after a late dinner in ktown. Or you know, a drunken karaōke session.

One of the best and most unique crepes i’ve ever had! Forget about the traditional crepes you are used to cause you’ll be taken on a whole ‘nother food journey with Crêpe Monster. They are very generous with the fillings, but should business pick up, I’m not sure if that will continue to be the case. I got the«red rabbit» which consisted of two scoops of red bean ice cream, mochi and condensed milk for $ 7, which is pretty decent considering how packed the crêpe is. instead of folding this into a one handed snack, it’s rolled into a cone shape where it requires more than just two hands. The crêpe itself was delicious. Crispy ends, soft middle and had the perfect sweetntss. There was more than enough red bean ice cream, but a little too much mochi. I’m not complaining when I get more than I expect, but there is such thing as too much of a good thing. While the crêpe itself was perfect, Crêpe Monster did lose a star due to the fact that eating it was a complete disaster. I love the way they rolled the crepes instead of the traditional triangle flat shape, but after about three bites, I had ice cream streaming down my hand, the wax paper was stuck to the crêpe itself and I was taking bites of mochi on one side and bites of ice cream on the other. Midway through my crêpe, I was more frustrated than anything. I will definitely go back and have some more crepes, but i’ll have to think of a strategy on how i’m going to attack it.

Hidden on the third floor is this crêpe shop. The menu looks small but you can basically have whatever you want in your crêpe. My crêpe had ice cream, strawberries and chocolate syrup. The crêpe is good but definitely messy. The ice cream just melted and leaked out. I only wish this could be eaten with a fork and knife. The prices are reasonable and well worth it for a sweet treat.

I was initially skeptical when I saw that Crêpe Monster had a 3-item menu but the girl attending to us explained how it was brand new.(Apparently the entire Food Gallery mall just opened not too long ago.) My boyfriend and I decided to share the $ 6 Snow Beast — 2 scoops of ice cream(with fancy choices like: red bean, green tea, black sesame, zen butter), and toppings(we went with strawberries, almonds, nutella, and whipped cream), all wrapped up in a freshly-made warm crêpe cone. It. was. awesome. Every bite was delicious which made me somewhat regret deciding to share! A friend told me later that nutella really makes the combo so for everyone reading this — GETTHENUTELLA! They drizzle it on the crêpe before wrapping it up so you get some in every bite. I will be definitely watching this place grow.

Innovative gem in the middle of the city. I was stirred here through word of mouth last week after a long day of work. I didn’t know what to expect upon entering the place, given the first floor is a collection of Asian food stands in what is basically a MALLOFFOOD, I had to stress how awesome that is for a foodie like me. Despite having to find this place on the 3rd floor after walking past all the food selection on the 1st floor, I was pleasantly surprised. The concept is new, as I don’t think I’ve seen such unique pairings for crêpe flavors in NYC. The«Milk Toaster,» which is the first item on their menu is a throw back to the old H.K. style toast with condensed milk, but in the form of a crêpe. I thoroughly enjoyed it and given the place has all the room you want in terms of seating, my friends who were with me all chose to try the different crepes and had a blast nibbling bits off each other. The downside obviously is that this place just recently opened and some of the things still need working on, i.e. bigger menu and it’s slightly out of plain view for almost any passerby downstairs to notice it. The place definitely has potential and I look forward to seeing more unique flavors and combinations the next time I happen to be in the neighborhood. Perhaps then, I’d be impressed enough to give that 5th star on the rating. I encourage any lover of food a/k/a foodie to check out the place and put it on their list of late night dessert venues in the city.

The whole Food Gallery has yet to take off the ground, but the two times I have ventured in, I have had to make stops at Crêpe Monster. I’ve never had a Japanese crêpe, only French… but I was quickly a huge fan. Their«milk toaster» crêpe was really unique — a delicious fusion of HK/Japanese style foods — with raisin toast and condensed milk inside a warm crêpe with crispy edges. They even threw in a scoop of Chinatown Ice Cream Factory Zen Butter for me. They also have a breakfast crêpe as well as their sweet crepes, but I have yet to try that one. Definitely worth a visit. You get a lot of bang for your buck and can probably split one crêpe between two girls or one guy or three children.
