Unfortunately, it was very crowded on the 1st floor. they said it would be at least 15 minutes. I realized there was an upstairs. I requested to be seated upstairs instead of waiting. I was told by Jose reservations only. I insisted & spoke to someone else and was told no problem. JOSE was not pleased about that. He gave us a very hard time. Finally, they took us upstairs and more than half the tables were available! No one asked for our name, if we had reservations. They took us directly to the table. Clearly, RESERVATIONSONLY was bs… JOSE later came up to apologize and brought us two glasses of cheap champagne. Instead of offering us more Sangria since we did order a pitcher and were done. We left him the champagne to have the drink on us. HUGEDISAPPOINTMENT1 We were hoping the food and sangria were worth all the drama! DEFINITELYNOT… We will never go back!!!

Pros: Service was really good. Waiters were accommodating when we had more people than we originally listed in our reservation and they were attentive through the evening. Cons: Food was not so good… I had a pasta with seafood and husband had pasta with sausage — ick to both. A terrible representation of Italian food — pretty much on par with olive garden or worse. Will not eat here again.

Loved the food and the staff. The service was quick. I stayed at the Paramount hotel and decided to take a stroll in the morning on 8th Ave to find something different other than the hotel food or a typical Diner. This fit the bill. I will visit them again very soon.

Got in before the theater rush and had a relaxed and comfortable experience. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the service was prompt and very courteous. We shared the risotto special and a salad and as usual skimped on appetizers and drinks so had room for a nice desert and cappuccino. When the crowd rushed in, we left happy and full!

I went here with a friend during Fleet Week. It looked nice from the street, she said it was one of her fav places… and since I was a bit hungry and mostly wanted to sit after working a 12ish hour day, it fit the bill. I had pepperoni pizza, she had spaghetti and meat balls. I think I drank a gallon of water. The waiters were great. I think they picked up really early that I was quite thirsty, so my water glass was never more than half empty. They were friendly as well. Food-it was good. No complaints. It seemed like the food was ready pretty quick as well. As far as how the joint looked, it was a little dark(mood lighting), with lots and lots of dark wood. It wasn’t crowded either, and given the area-that was a huge blessing. We sat by the window, so I enjoyed some people watching during the meal between eating and great conversation. The place wasn’t loud, which is very important to me… I’m a large guy, but I have a soft voice. The tables weren’t jammed together like I had expected, so the shoulder room was great. Overall, I’ll probably end up going back during one of my next visits to the area.

Almost had 5 stars until the waiter ruined it at the last minute. We came here for breakfast to discuss business. The pancakes were fantastic and the eggs and bacon were delicious. In general the service was good… until the very end of the meal. We decided to stay for one more cup of coffee when the waiter said we already had two refills and couldn’t have another. So sad, we could’ve been regulars.

A SURPRISINGLYCOMFYANDQUAINTCAFE My wife and I were headed uptown and, as usual, we enjoy walking several blocks before cabbing it to our destination. Trekking through Hells’ Kitchen, we decided to grab some lunch as it was already late afternoon. Having a knack for deciding if a particular place meets my standards by casing it from the front door, Trattoria Daniela appeared to do just that so we decided to have lunch there, our very first visit. I immediately noticed the neat and orderly manner in which this café was maintained, a good sign. Although not very different from how most 8th Ave store front restaurants are set up, Trattoria Daniela was welcoming and somewhat interesting. Small, yet adequate tables and chairs placed around the front of the room with kitchen and serving counter set back towards the rear. Large, floor to ceiling windowed doors were opened and lent a euro flair to the place as the weather was cooperating at the time. Interesting retro prints hung from the walls along with exposed old brick lending to the subtle charm. For food and drink, my wife ordered an appetizer of mozzarella cheese with ripened tomatoes, oil and vinegar and olives. Fresh bread was brought to our table. I must say that the bread was excellent as I have not tasted bread this good in quite a while. I wanted to try something different; I ordered the steak sandwich which was served on a long piece of sliced bread that was, again, very delicious. I also had coffee and noticed the wonderful strength of it combined with the coffee aroma. Hopefully other Unilocal readers have now gotten the point here; this little place is a gem; great food with significantly lower pricing than ever seen before for the setting and the fare. Needless to say, this was a(simple) lunch not to be forgotten! I’ve rated it on a scale from 1 to 10: Pros: Everything Cons: None Food: 10 Pricing: 10 Cleanliness: 10 Service: 10

I made same day reservations the Thursday before Mother’s Day but ended up showing up 30 minutes late due to meet missing the earlier LIRR train. But we were seated immediately upstairs which was much roomier than the first floor. Half the people upstairs. We arrived at 5:30 and had to make a 7pm show. We made it to the theater before the doors were opened! The waitress was quick and the assistant was on top of the water refills and clean up. He only took one unfinished soda but otherwise he was good. We didn’t feel rushed by the staff either The food– I ordered the orecchiette baresi. It was delicious and I finished all of it. My mom ordered a spicy pasta dish(forgot the name) and really liked it as well. She nearly finished it and she is a light eater. Tips — make reservations and try to request upstairs. Also let them know you’re going to a show. I indicated that on the reservation request but I don’t know if my waitress was told, if she guessed it or if they are just quick. Either way, we were very full and very pleased.

The food is good, and so is the service. So surprised(not in a good way) when we get the check that every time we were about to finish our sodas and the waiter offer us more it was not a refilling and they charge us with 5 drinks(we were 2). That sort of thing they should explain in advance. We are tourists and not English speakers so I think they took advantage of us or at least that’s what I think now. Not happy

My wife has been coming here for years after work with her friends and I was always the beneficiary of her doggy bags, so I already knew the food was pretty good. We came here together for dinner before a show. We made reservations on Open Table. Once we arrived, we were seated immediately and brought fresh warm bread and drinks. The staff were polite and attentive from the time we walked in the door, until we left. We started off with the fried calamari, which were perfectly seasoned and crispy, but delicate. They weren’t chewy at all. For entrees, she had the classic spaghetti and meatballs and I had the Oriechette Baresi, which is pasta(little hats) with broccoli rabe and sausage. My wife enjoyed her meal and I ate some of the meatballs and they were very tasty. Not too firm and not too mushy. The sauce was very flavorful. My entrée, the pasta was perfectly cooked and had a nice fresh garlic taste to the olive oil sauce. There was an abundance of Italian sausage and broccoli rabe in the dish also. This dish was very well balanced. The waitstaff brought grated cheese and freshly cracked pepper immediately when we were served our entrees. For dessert, we chose the tirimisu, which can be a crap shoot at any restaurant. This one was delicious! It was also a special evening because we we’re celebrating my wife’s birthday and they put a candle on the dessert and the whole staff sang and we didn’t ask them too. A very nice touch! They take major credit cards and if you can, make reservations. I’m sure it’s always better if you make one. I hope to come back soon and until then, I’ll enjoy the doggie bags my wife brings home whenever she goes with her friends. Try this place before the theater.

6 – 7 minute wait at the door before any sort of host arrived which was very off-putting, but once they did service upstairs was great and the food was quite good. I’d definitely go back!

A wonderful little café to grab food prior to a show. The food is really fresh and delicious for a reasonable price. I had an amazing grilled portobello salad with walnuts. The salad dressing was fantastic. My friends had the pasta bolognese sauce and an omelet. They were both very pleased with their choices. The service was really great as we were in and out in no time to catch our show. the place is very clean and smartly decorated.

Had a great experience, the staff was attentive and we practically had three servers. The food was good, especially after not having eaten all day and having a late night meal. The environment is quaint and had cute brick walls. Plus great oldies music is on.

I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner on Saturday night. They graciously accommodated 15 people at the last minute which was nice. It wasn’t crowded at all and we were the largest party in the place. I got the pizza marinara to share with my boyfriend and it was good; tasted very fresh and was hot. We also had some garlic bread as an appetizer which had a very strong garlic flavor. We had a few pitchers of sangria for the table. It was a sweeter sangria than others I’ve had, which was good. It didn’t seem very strong though, but then again, it is wine. The service was attentive and friendly and prices aren’t too bad. Overall, it’s a solid option if you’re looking for a place to eat in the area or need to make a last minute reservation.

Shame on everyone who wrote about how great this place is. I went last night and expected«some of the best penne vodka I’ve ever had» and it literally tasted like a lean cuisine. Have you people ever tasted Italian food??? The stuffed mushrooms were hard and tasteless, the veal parm tasted like chicken nugget. Please avoid!!! Ps it’s not even like you are getting what you pay for, this place is still expensive

This is only a review on their delivery options because I’ve ordered from them on Seamless about a half dozen times in a year! I’ve never eaten in the restaurant itself. Keep in mind, I’m not an Italian pasta connoisseur, so my taste may not align with authentic Italian diashes. I always get their bolognese sauce, but I’ve always tried different pastas with it. The sauce is so thick and creamy and really hits the spot. It’s my favorite sauce. I always come back for this and will continue to do so. I’ve also had the barisi pasta with broccoli de rabe and sausage(alright, although the sauce is very watery, so it’s like eating pasta with veggies and meat — but as three separate ingredients). I’ve ordered another pasta that was also a more watery sauce. I would stay away from any pastas that are garlic and olive oil based, as those don’t hold the pasta with the other ingredients well. I think you’ll do ok with anything cream-based and that’s why this place gets 4 stars. I remember ordering the Antipasto once — it was HUGE. A good mix of everything. I would probably get it again.

Nourriture médiocre pour le prix payé. Mais surtout ils osent s’auto-attribuer leurs tips car je payais en carte bleu: INADMISSIBLE. Restaurant à éviter.
