I first heard about when my son was in middle school. His teachers used it to help fund classroom materials that were outside our school’s budget. It was a tremendous help. Since then I’ve donated occasionally. It’s a really fun and feel-good thing to do. You can browse for projects by keyword(autism, military, etc), location(your own neighborhood or across the country), age group, poverty level, urgency, etc. Each project has an itemized list with prices. You can check back on the progress… how many donors got involved, how much money has been given so far. After Hurricane Sandy I donated to some damaged schools in poverty areas. One project was called«A Weather Station: Mother Nature Speaks Not In Words!» It was for an elementary school in Surf City NJ. It only took 7 donors to raise $ 510. I love how the teachers keep in touch with the donors. They let you know when the project is fully funded, they post pictures of the kids using it, and express their thanks.

Tonight was my first time at
I came to the location for a front-end development class offered through General Assembly( ) I liked the office & the vibe — the employees were extremely friendly & helpful. It was also nice to see so many of them working late on fundraising projects & email alerts. The office is spacious, but the conference room for the class was quite small. I hope that they move the class into a larger area for the next meeting to be honest.
