Duane Reade

5 starts for the pharmacists Scott at this location! He is incredibly friendly and knows everyone by name. He works with you and happily provides advice. Apparently he used to have his own pharmacy which must be why he values customer service. I used to hate getting my prescriptions from Duane Reade but since I’ve been going to this location the process has been much more enjoyable.

5 star for the pharmacist at this location! He is very attentive and genuinely helpful. My coworkers all go to duane reade for him!

Pharmacy is down stairs and don’t buy fruit from here… what are you? Crazy?
Sometime late last year they started expanding the store to carry the Delish (Duane Reade) brand of products which is actualy pretty good in most cases and some fresh fruit, Beer/​Alcoholic Beverages and flowers. I don’t live in the area, so I’m never tempted to purchase those products from DR but apparently residents are thankful for it.
Since the changes to the store, they also extended the point reward deals, before you needed 100 points or to spend $ 100 (double rewards usually made it go quickly) and you would get a $ 5.00 off coupon. Now, to get that $ 5.00 coupon you have to spend $ 500 or get 500 points. Super lame and I’ve stopped going there as often for things I can get cheaper at my neighborhood bodega or elsewhere.
Things to get at DR: Your prescription, Shampoo/​Conditioner (almost always on sale or special), water, coconut water, a variety of juices and snacks for the movie theater.
Oh…and you can sneak in a trashy gossip magazine, no one will judge you.

Because I work nearby, I visit this location on a very regular basis– almost everyday.
The store is usually pretty busy and there’s a line at the register almost daily. The good thing about this store and the whole reason why I like it, is because the staff is always nice and helpful. Every so often they’ll remember me and when I forget my card, they’ll still give me the discount. Who wouldn’t appreciate that? Other than that, it’s just like any other Duane Reade.

This specific Duane Reade is unnoticeable. It’s between stores on a quiet part of Broadway. Once you walk in you will notice the size of the store. It’s quite small and looks unlike the new ones you go to in the city. They do have almost everything you need. It’s nice and quiet here, almost too quiet.

Man, I usually hate going to Duane Reade (and only started going to this one as it was the closest to my work). I’ll have to say, though, the pharmacists at this branch are super, super helpful. I recently switched insurance (nightmare scenario) and my new insurance was being a real jerk about my prescription… yadda yadda yadda– These guys just fixed it for me, went out of their way, filled my prescription and I’m on my way. Customer service like it should be. And at a chain? Duane Reade should give these pharmacists a medal of honor.

It’s amazing — the staff at this particular Duane Reade location are FRIENDLY. Duane Reade is known for having horrible customer service, but the employees here that I’ve countered have all been nice, attentive, and even a little chatty.
This location seems small when you enter, but it’s one of those stores with a whole basement and the pharmacy lives downstairs. One of the better Duane Reades I’ve been to around town.
