I signed up for Unilocal to write this review. I wish someone had done that for me. If you face the front of the building and are not deaf, expect a HELLACIOUS amount of construction and jackhammering during the day(they are just putting up a building across the street) and torturous honking, thunderous bass and hundreds of drunk and screaming club-goers til the wee hours, most nights of the week. There is literally zero peace here. Zero. We are awoken by drunken screaming or sirens almost every night, with our windows closed and a noise machine on high. In the morning, we are greeted by throw-up and trash all over the block. Every single morning. It is hard to take, especially when you are paying this much. The block also feels dangerous– esp to my girl– at night with a bad crowd that goes to the club Taj across the street. The police are outside breaking up fights regularly– I will post pics, like the one I took at 3:35am on Fri when the police and medics showed up after a large fight and took two injured dudes away in ambulances. This is a REGULAR occurence. Keep in mind there are 3 highly active clubs on this block which attract a loud & trashy crowd. Before you consider moving in, walk by at midnight. Or 2am. Or even 4. My gf and I are leaving when our lease is up in a few months. This has been the worst quality of life experience either of us has had in Manhattan(or elsewhere). The building is nice and well-kept but it is impossible to find solace in that when you can’t sleep and dread being home. If you face the back, especially if you are on a high floor that gets light, I am sure it is a much different and better experience. I am sorry to say that I can’t recommend living here if you care about your sleep and/living on a particularly filthy block.
