Over priced even by New York standards and tiny portions of food. Service was indifferent at best. Ate at the bar where the bar tender was in no way interested that I was even there. Ordered the lobster roll($ 30) and cup of chowder(+$ 4). All of this arrived some 20 minutes later as I was just about to enquire as why it could take so long to for a cup of chowder. The chowder while good, but mostly chunks of potatoes, was served in a tiny cup, similar to a tea cup at your local Chinese restaurant, and would be laughable to serve alone. The lobster rolls were tasty, but again two small half size buns along with a small plate of slaw and marinated onions… After the movie at Lincoln center I had to eat a hot dog because I was hungry again…

Oysters are the best… must have. Ask for THE manager Omar and Chris THE Bartender. They are very attentive and know how to give the five star treatment When in NYC must go!!!

Best lobster rolls in the city. They’re open late, too! Very elegant atmosphere, right across the street from Lincoln Center. Perfect for groups or just the two of you… I will definitely go back!

Great! Came after work grab a table in the bar area with no issues. Seafood chowder was spectacular! LOTS of seafood and ended up being the star of the show but when going to Eds Chowder house that’s expected. However the mussels were a pleasant surprise. The mussels were large and very fresh– I have to stress the freshness it really made the mussels stand out, not to mention the preparation, very flavorful. Nice seafood spot for a nice lunch or dinner.

The New England clam chowder was better than I expected. The other two chowders were nothing special, as I got the sampler. I also got a moscow mule which was more ice and less drink than I hoped. And I found that funny as the bartender is Russian. I ordered the Flank for the main dish and it was soooo salty! I would not recommend it as I had quite a stomach ache after. The green beans were good and since the 1 pound lobster taste frozen and not fresh and was a bit chewy. Not worth the price really. If you want classy/fancy the atmosphere was nice as it’s connected to the Empire Hotel. The service is just a bunch of indian men who have no idea what they are doing when presenting plates to people. Why does it take 3 indians to figure out what plate I ordered?! Who knows. Not to mention it’s just slow. I find it frustrating the staff isn’t fluent in English so when asking about things they can’t explain anything clearly.

Ok so it’s really 3.5 based on my experience, BUT — the next time I will get all of the dishes that I loved so it will be a 5 :-P The atmosphere was good, service was excellent, very close to Lincoln center so great central location. RAWBAR: Excellent. They were very accommodating, my partner could not have actual raw seafood(oysters, clams) so they sub-ed with extra cooled shrimp & muscles. Delicious– comes with butter, sauce, and biscuit bread. My favorite part of the meal. CHOWDER: Good. Tried both Manhattan and New England varieties. Rich flavor, good sized portion. We ended up getting full on this dish. SALMON: Great dish. Cooked to perfection, great vegetables to accompany this creation. SEAFOODPASTA: Do not recommend this. Too buttery and WAY too salty. Felt unhealthy, heavy, and just hard to eat due to the salt content. Did not love the abundance of garlic floating in this dish either. DESSERTS: Just OK. Got two, cheesecake being one of them. I probably didn’t love any one of them in particular. I was also extremely full by this point. I’d return again, get the raw bar platter & a lobster roll. And of course, just like this time– a champagne toast to start!

We stay in the Empire quite often where the restaurant is located on the second floor. Atmosphere: cute southern kitchen atmosphere Food: very delicious and lots of options for both brunch and dinner. I like that their breakfast restaurant has multiple hot and cold gourmet menu options. They also have buffet options for breakfast. Service: worst service in NYC or anywhere, again I come here quite a bit for work, and EVERY time we come the service is super slow(even if it is empty). They also have messed up my simple order almost every time, including nearby tables. I think some of the staff don’t speak much English so there is a communication issue when ordering, even when you are pretty clear and to the point. I have waited to write this review in hopes that the service would improve. I think the only reasons come here is because it is convenient but after finishing a meal, I kick myself and am reminded it is a pain in the butt.

Aah-aah-mazing! Very elegant, best attention to detail I have seen in awhile, easy good food. I had the crab lasagna and it was eaten deliberately slow to savor every bite. Greatness! I was actually full after a few bites. Best self-birthday– gift!

This Saturday evening with 5 others we had the pleasure of dining at Ed’s. The décor was clean with plenty of room to move. It seemed that no matter where you sat you were in your own private area. The breads and rolls were really great and the drinks, martinis and wines, were enjoyed by all. Although I refuse to buy a martini that is serve in a 6 or was it a 7 oz martini glass so I had wine. All the food, salmon, cod, clams, calamari, chowder and one shirt or was it flank steak were ravishingly enjoy by whoever order what but I had a little problem with the linguine and clam etc., sauce. Even-though the pasta was just right I had to pop an extra diuretic when I was through. Yes! It was way too salty and I did mention it to the waiter, Alvin, but I think he just blew me off or didn’t hear me. But things happen and maybe it was just that night and I’m not hardly going to let that one plate prevent me from enjoying the many other delectables that are waiting there for me to savor. Leslie W. Convenient location near Lincoln Center and seems less crowded than other nearby restaurants. Went for brunch and the Smoked Salmon Benedict and the Fried Shrimp Po’boy, though not exceptional, were solid. They also had a good children’s menu and the Chocolate Ganache Tart for dessert was wonderful.

Fantastic lunch here. The calamari was light and fried perfectly. The skate delicious. I was too full to finish my banana crème pie.

Tasty but expensive and not worth the $$$. We went for happy hour which features a special reduced-price menu and I also got a lobster roll not a part of the happy hour menu. Our table’s consensus: we should have gone to Mermaid Inn. Now, I’m not an oyster expert but I felt that the oysters were subpar considering the price. Same goes for the lobster roll. Also, the sides that came with our dishes were so puny — it’s like they think we’re toddlers! Finally, to get the lobster menu our waiter had to ask the manager if it was okay since it wasn’t on the happy hour menu. What? Seemed strange, but at least our waiter was friendly and accommodating. Basically, skip the trip and get your oysters or lobster rolls elsewhere. Can’t say much about the other food they serve here.

When: First day of the new year so the place wasn’t crowded at all. Loved the décor inside. It just gives you a modern American feel. What: When you’re at a chowder house, you get the chowder! They have a sampler pack on the menu, or you can try their regular selections in cup-size(literally a cup $ 6). Personally, no me gusta(2⁄5). For the value and the taste, it’s just not worth it. Chowder’s a bit too bland. BUT! The highlight was the entre I got, which was the skate wing with potatoes and herb butter. Perfectly deep-fried skate wing bathed in a creamy and flavorful herb butter sauce… that plate was simply a phenomenon: D(4.5÷5) We were also offered some complimentary charred brussels(meh 2⁄5), some salmon tomato plates, and foie gras(no joke). So that added a little bonus for the new year! Service: Generally nice(they forgot my chowder order). The hostess was so nice and smiley. Would come back again during restaurant week for other stuff if nearby!

OMG!!! I’m so in love with this place. First off, I know its weird that I ordered a simple hamburger here. But no, the people next to us ordered one and when I saw it, I just knew I had to order it! I promise this is the best grade of hamburger meat I have ever had! WOW! They also have a seafood bar. Where you can order all kinds of oysters and more! The menu is pretty simple and to the point. I believe quality over quantity! The service is outstanding! It doesn’t get any better! And dessert is a must here!!! Enjoy

UN flipping believable. Start to finish. We sat upstairs before going across the street to a thing. I would’ve been happy with a burger and fries at pj Clarke’s but instead I was blown away. Sitting on the bar side upstairs was greeted by a delightful hosted, seated at a great table with no reservation. Richard Brandon was two tables away, and everyone was beautifully dressed. The wine was delicious and reasonably priced, the calamari, salad and chowder were insane. We skipped dinner but will return soon. Two thumbs up.

Dear fellow diners, Choose Ed’s for their selection of fresh oysters and other seafood fare. We ordered the following and found the service and environment to be top notch… I completely forgot this restaurant was semi connected to the Empire Hotel. 1. Drinks: Manhattan, Aperol Spritz, and old fashioned 2. Appetizers: Fresh selection of oysters and roasted beet salad 3. Entrees: Lobster roll and Potato crusted cod 4. Dessert: Banana crème pie and chocolate ganache French pressed coffee This place deserves 5 stars. We will most certainly return.

We went to Ed’s chowder house for a late lunch craving for great seafood. The menu is extremely limited and the service is terrible. They took forever to take our order and the wait for the cheque was painfully long. Even after reminding them to get our check, they made us wait for about 15 minutes. We ordered for the oysters, burger and the Cajun spiced fish. The oysters had a nice flavour to them, however the fish lacked flavour and texture. The burger was just about okay. Oh and did I mention that the portions are tiny? Definitely not going in there again

$ 79(before tip!) for what was essentially a snack for two — — ½ dozen of the littlest little neck clams; the chowder trio sampler; an iceberg lettuce salad; one crab cake; and 2 espressos. It’s a lovely restaurant with great proximity to Lincoln Center and really good service. I just think it’s a bit too pricey for okay food.

I truly love going to this place. It’s in the empire hotel but has its own street entrance. Walking is a little strange because it’s not very inviting and there are signs that are barricading parts of the staircase. But once you get up the brightly lit staircase and passed the mirrors and beautiful hanging bubble chandelier you are greeted by a hostess. I’ve been here a handful of time and each time regardless of who is hosting they are very bubbly and smiley and eager to help you find a seat to settle in. I have only ever sat at the bar and every time the bartenders are very knowledgable and helpful in choosing what is best fit for me on that day. They make a tasty Manhattan. Also they have phenomenal oysters. Truly. I recommend them regardless if you like fresh or fried. Also they have a happy hour food menu till the end of Labor Day where oysters are only 1.50 $ each!!! My girlfriend loves their salmon sliders and fries. I also really enjoy their tuna sliders. Yum. Oh and they have one of the absolute best ginger beers called Fentiman’s. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone wanting a romantic or casual dining experience.

This place is new, fancy, high end, and really close to where I work. If you go in the early afternoon, you can get a nice seat at the bar and the place is so quiet. The cocktails are reasonably priced($ 12-$ 17 on average) and I had food for the first time… the clam chowder was great as was the tuna sliders. Service is fantastic, everyone is very friendly and we got out drinks and food very quickly. I highly recommend this place and am a bit puzzled by the low ratings.

Cher pour ce qui est servit! Les chowders sont malheureusement décevant surtout le Manhattan Style. Mais absolument prendre les ravioli(manqué quand même du «pep» au goût). Le service et cependant très sympathique. Réserver avant!
