Elite Event: Capital One 360 Cafe

It was nice to annualize this event and come back for a second year. However, since this was a second event in the same place, I felt like I was comparing details the entire time — and this year’s event was very different.
Still lots of wine and beer, but definitely less food (quantity and variety). Fine with me, because I like to eat before events when I can, and as such, wasn’t hungry.
Definitely less fun (in an interactive way) than last year. Last year there were a ton of contests and games, and pretty much everyone won some sort of cute token prize. I wiggled an Oreo from my forehead to my mouth and earned a solar powered phone charger, which I use every time I go to the beach! This time we only got raffle tickets and had to enter into 3 raffles. The raffles were tied to dates (baseball game, booze cruise that didn’t actually include alcohol, and an über ride), so they didn’t feel compelling.
I also ended up signing up for a Checking and Savings account — I’ve had a CapOne card for some time, and decided to go ahead and open the other accounts. I was taken aback because you’re promised $ 75 when you open both accounts… but what they neglected to mention was that you have to sign up for both accounts, transfer money into the checking, use the account 3 times in 45 days, AND that the money comes in the form of $ 25 account credit and a $ 50 Amazon gift card. I didn’t want the Amazon gift card and maybe wouldn’t have signed up for the accounts if I’d have known all of that.
The saving grace is that the staff is amazing — effervescent. And that wasn’t just for the event. I’ve been going back for coffee since I work a block away, and they still remember my name and chat with me every single time I come in.

Another wonderful YEE event! The staff at the Capital One Café were very nice and helpful, answering all the questions people had about the accounts. When I flashed my Capital One 360 card, a few of the employees high fived me and gave me a card for a free drink so that was awesome. The burritos by Kimchi Grill were super delicious. They came in 4 different kinds: bulgogi beef, spicy pork, spicy chicken, and veggie. I tried one of each, and my favorite was the beef, and surprisingly the veggie. There were a bunch leftover at the end of the event, so I took one home for lunch the next day.
The wine and beer offered was also on point, as were the raffle prizes. Unfortunately, I didn’t win anything boo. But, I did pick up a free shirt, screen printed by Sheepshead Design, so that was cool.

I didn’t quite know what to expect when I came to Capital One 360 Café. But I was pleasantly surprised! Little did I know that ING Direct was purchased by Capital One, and is now known as Capital One 360. To that, I am enlightened. As a current Capital One account holder, it wasn’t hard to coerce me into opening a new checking and savings account with Capital One 360, especially with the evening’s perks they were offering. My +1 at the event also opened up new accounts as well. The $ 50 Amazon gift card + $ 25 in cash added to my account + an additional $ 50 once I use my new checking debit card 3 times? Yep, that sold me. Plus, their ATM network is vast (not only the Chase’s at Duane Reades are included, but various ATMs at McDonalds and other random venues are included, too.). To top it off, no foreign transaction fees!
The staff was incredible: helpful, professional, and friendly. At the café, which serves food, drinks, and coffee daily, had a special night for us that included wine and beer, wraps /​burritos from Kimchi Grill (my favorite was the spicy beef), screenprinted shirts from Sheepshead Design, with cool, fun designs like a heart and a NY watertower, and a raffle. The raffle was for Mets tickets, a booze cruise with Circle Line, or a gift certificate for Über. (I actually won the Über gc, super excited!)
All in all, a truly fun event — thanks Ruggy for coordinating, to Kimchi Grill for the eats, and to everyone at Capital One 360 Café for hosting us. It was truly an amazing event. :)

Great event. I have a capital one credit card, but was very interested in learning a little more about what capital one 360 café has to offer. I like that they didn’t pressure me into opening an account right away. Gave me some time to think.
Super cool staff and the burrito was great. Never really had anything like it. To bad I had to leave early. I managed to get a free t-​shirt before I left. Sweet, I love t-​shirts!

So glad this event was held again! To be honest I think I enjoyed it more last year because it felt more interactive with the mini-​games and competitions upstairs and there was sushi — but this year also had its fair share of awesomeness.

No sushi noms and interactive games aside, there were things that did stand out that made this a really fun night in an environment that was conducive to conversation…

+ Sometimes it’s nice to hang someone that isn’t a loud restaurant or dim-​lighted bar. Creates a different kind of experience and memory. Yay memories!
+ Complimentary red and white wine never hurt anyone and there was plenty of it on hand (although by like 8:15sh the white was gone, but it was all good since red was equally delish and very nicely chilled).
+ Brooklyn Lager and Blue Moon seasonal beers were awesomely cold, awesomely refreshing, not hoppy and awesomely free — yay!
+ Sheepshead Designs (which I learned is NOT at all from Sheepshead Bay, lol) was on hand screenprinting some neat designs in real time and then hanging them in size order one they were dried. They were all light powder blue cotton tshirts that were unisex sizes and featured original artwork designs such as hearts made out of mazes, bar codes with a tribal feel to them and a water tower which was screened onto the lower left hand sides of shirts — but I scored an awesome small-​sized shirt with the pink maze heart on the front and the water tower screened on the back of it — WHO0T! GOOD STUFF! :D

Capital One also handed out neon colored index cards to Unilocalers as they arrived so that they could create groups for a «tour» which pretty much started at the entrance door, went up the stairs and ended at the top of the stairs, Lol, I think this hardly qualifies as a tour, but it did fulfill the (probably mandated) education part in which we learned about the pros of having a Capital One checking and/​or savings account, credit card, debit card, yada yada.
A raffle was also held to win VIP suite seats at a Mets game, a pair of tickets to a Thursday night booze cruise on the Hornblower Infinity, a $ 50 Amazon gift certificate and an Über gift card. I WON ALL OF THEM!!! Kidding. I won none of them #SadFaceHere. But my friends and I all had a fantastic time anyway! :D

I went to this same event last year actually at the Capital One 360 Café & Bank! Actually, one of the people from the bank recognized me from last year, I think her name is Alana. Super friendly and awesome staff. I thought last year it was slightly more interactive and entertaining with there being games scattered around the place: beer pong & Flip an oreo from your head into your mouth. Which honestly, if they had just the oreo game, I would have been ecstatic because I was one of like two people who actually was capable of doing that party trick. Heavily anticipating next year to prove my oreo mastery.
The «raffle tour» seemed confusing because the leader Brian kept referring to it as a tour. When really it was just gathering people together to bring back upstairs for the prizes (which were all pretty cool): party boat, mets game, $ 50 towards über. I divided it up between the boat/​mets. Interestingly, they asked trivia questions during our tour and no others. I was overly ecstatic and eager after 2 glasses of wine and before the question was even finished I raised my hand like an idiot and yelled «Brazil». Which was half right because it was a trick question as to who was in the lead of the World Cup. Mexico also was tied. Doi. But I won a $ 2 bill! Lol. Okay.
The wine was delicious, the Kimchi Grill burritos were interesting. Too much kimchi, rice and beans, a little bit spicy and not enough meat! But it hit the spot and was unexpected. Tried a beer from blue moon that I had never heard of before (Rounder Belgian Style) and was in my happy place upon leaving. Also, those silk screen t-​shirts were neat! But they ran out of smalls pretty fast and didn’t make enough of the water tower logo, which was most peoples’ favorites! But still somehow managed to find a small sized heart logo in crazy snazzy colors. Thanks Ruggy for an awesome event yet again!

This was an awesome event! We had a great time and i ended up with a few beers and scored a free booze cruise event from a raffle!

My first Elite event!
It was all that I expected and more. Delicious food from Kimchi Grill (mm, beef short rib burrito), free-​flowing drinks (yay Brooklyn Summer Ale!), and plenty of great company. Shout out to the Elites I met — you all are amazing people and embraced me and my +1 with open arms!
I already had a savings account with Capital One 360, but I signed up for a checking account and got a $ 50 Amazon gift card. And I’ll be getting more moolah once I receive and use my debit card in the mail. I’ll need every bit of cash now, since I’ve heard weddings aren’t cheap…
We also got a free Über ride home with their special promo code for new Über-​ers. Score.
My first Elite event was a success, and I’m looking forward to attending some more!

Had a great time at here, as usual at Unilocal events. My friend and I got to try the short rib, and spicy pork burritos from Kimchi Grill, which were great. They had just the right amount of spice, and while a little soggy, the burritos just really hit the spot. Bartenders were very efficient and friendly. We washed the burritos down with some wine and Brooklyn Summer Ales. I wasn’t in need of a new checking/​savings account, but everyone who signed up seemed very happy with their $ 75 account credit and $ 50 Amazon Gift Card.
The Café had 2 floors and had a pretty cool modern design. The second floor had all the t-​shirt creation, offers, and raffles going on, including tickets to a Mets game, and Über sign-​ups. Didn’t actually win anything myself, but it was still fun and engaging. Shout-​out and thanks to Ruggy and the rest of the staff on a great event!

I’ve never won anything in my life. well I still haven’t won anything since my bf was the one who won the booze cruise tickets, but eh who’s keeping track? Lol Besides the amazing raffles that took place at the end, the party itself was chic. I kept it classy by sipping wine all through out the night and by helping myself to their burritos. Yum and yum. The spicy burrito had the perfect spice to it. It did not create a dying burning sensation in my mouth but rather it was a pleasant flavor for my taste buds, which is what I love in my spicy food. Also the t-​shirt section was a success, extremely content with my t-​shirts.
Thanks Unilocal and Ruggy for creating such a fun event on a wed night! Finally, thank you Capital One 360 café for the booze cruise tickets, can not wait to enjoy the beautiful weather out by the water with my bf ;) Beyond excited!

What a cool space and a fun event! Plenty of burritos from Kimchi Grill to go around. I tried the spicy pork (by spicy, they mean kimchi), chicken, and veggie burritos. Then I helped myself to a glass of rose and chardonnay (perfect for a humid night). That was just the first floor.
Then once you made your way up to the second floor, Capital One 360 was doing a raffle for some cool prizes, like a cruise, Mets game, Über gift card. Head to the back and Sheepshead Design was printing shirts and prints on site. I was a big fan of the lighthouse design. Loved the fact that Capital One partnered with some cool vendors. And the comfy sofas.

I had a good time here, can’t complain. There were pork, chicken, and veggie burritos from Kimchi grill, each packed with varying amounts of kimchi. Drinks consisting of water, soda, white wine, red wine, and beer, and a free silk-​screened t-​shirt to take with you.
There was a raffle with 3 prizes — tickets to a Mets game, Über credit, or a booze cruise. I don’t know who won. If you opened a Capital One checking or saving account, Capital One offered a small monetary bonus and $ 50 Amazon card.
Overall, very laidback, relaxed event.

The Capital One 360 Café Elite Event was cool! The nice Capital 360 people were excellent host as they provided wine, beer, and an assortment of different types of burritos for our bellies to go along with raffle games and a t-​shirt production station for our entertainment. Free Mets Club Seats, Über Gift Cards, and Cruise Tickets were all up for grabs during the event that boasted a laid-​back crowd and atmosphere on a Wednesday evening in Turtle Bay.
Additionally, Capital One 360 informed us on some of the convenient services they offer from their online only bank. ING Direct may ring a bell. Well Capital One 360 is now the new and improved upgraded ING Direct. Not only did they offer their services to Unilocal Elite Event attendees, they also added in some sweet bonuses for us to do business with them by adding at least $ 50 to go with new accounts. Potentially more money could also possibly be won. There was only one concern on a fun evening social; it was a cloudy evening that saw scattered light showers, or perhaps more like sprinkles. No worries, Über came through via Capital One 360 Café with $ 30 first time sign up specials for Unilocalers to use that night to get home. How do you beat that?
Thank you Ruggy for putting on a successful event! Unilocal always exposes its Elite members to great offers and establishments throughout the area while never failing to entertain us at the same time. As usual, this was another good time relaxing and enjoying fellow Unilocalers.

This was an event where you can deposit some brain cells and withdraw some fun.
The Capital One 360 café is easily the coolest bank I’ve been to. Albeit that isn’t that hard. If I walked into any bank and they handed me just one burrito or one beer, it would be the coolest bank ever.
When we arrived we headed straight to the bar. Some white wine and Brooklyn Summer Ales all night long. I headed up stairs and immediately recognized a familiar smell. I live right by Kimchi taco and some of the bars by me, that have a BYOF policy, have the same stench. Kimchi is not the greatest smell in mass quantity in an enclosed space. I’ve dealt with it before so I was able to endure.
I then went by the T-​Shirt pressing station. I was super excited to see it was called Sheepshead Design. Sheepshead Bay is the neighborhood I grew up in. When I asked the designer what his affiliation is with Sheepshead, he told me «Nothing». He just takes the name because it sounds cool. Lame. Worst of all, the best design (the water tower), he made the least. Yet made the bar code one, which no one wanted, the most. They made great napkins though.
After schmoozing and boozing for a couple of hours it was time for the raffle. My plus one and I put half our tickets in for the Mets game and half for the booze cruise. Didn’t get lucky for either. Though once we heard the date for the Mets game, we both realized it was for the better, were both busy that night. One of us is going to a Nine Inch Nails/​Soundgarden concert. The other a Miley Cyrus. Guess which one I’m going to.

Just like Lori, I was not able to get into a Capital One Café event until last night. It was a very laid back event filled with wine, beer, and burritos. But more importantly, it was a great opportunity to be acquainted with the Capital One staff, who are most friendly and passionate. They were very patient in explaining everything to us about Capital One, and they set all the Unilocalers up with an extra freebie (graphic tees) that are freshly printed.
The raffle prizes for an Über gift card, booze cruise, and tickets to a Mets game were a nice touch, even though there could only be one winner for each. A special thanks to Inga, Alana, and Twizzle for the hookups and conversation. I was inspired to open up a new Capital One account after chatting with them. Thank you to Ruggy, Jando and Capital One for organizing this fun event.

Fun time and I noticed many improvements from last year’s event. The food was great. Plenty for everyone and did not run out. Drinks kept going all night and bartenders were super friendly. I loved the T-​shirts that were being designed right in front of us. I took two :)
My friends Walter & Jess won tickets to the boat ride. I’m jealous! Awesome prizes and nice seeing everyone. Met new people last night which is a plus. Unilocal knows how to throw events and this is no exception. The hosts at Capital One 360 café were gracious enough to open their doors and welcome Eliters to their venue. I’ve had an account and a mortgage through them since their inception as ING Direct, so they didn’t need to convince me how awesome they are… you can hear it from me if you’d like, or not. ;p I haven’t been to the café yet, until now. (I heard there was a YEE held here the last couple of years but couldn’t make it due to scheduling conflicts) Nice to see new elites, new faces, and familiar ones too. You know who you are.
Trendy lighting permeates all-​around from the walls in the evening and the voluminous space makes for a lounge-​y atmosphere despite the corporate feel during the day. Who knew they conducted business here?
Upon checking in, food from Kimchi Grill greeted us to the tune of spicy chicken, beef, and veggie burritos. They were simply yum and were a good size too (they were halved fit in the hand). The spicy chicken was not overly spicy, but the pickled radish did have some zing.
At the bar, they served up wine to the tune of red bordeaux-​style table wine from Cocobon Wines, white-​chardonnay, and rosé (my go-​to for the evening) as well as a small assortment of lager beer.
The second floor had more seating, and a screen printer from Sheepshead Bay dishing out lovely blue t-​shirts to us and demonstrating their screen-​printing skills. Also on-​hand was a raffle drawing for guests. Suite seats at a Mets game, a booze cruise, and an Über gift card. No luck here!

Sometimes, the third time’s a charm.
Despite the fact that Unilocal NYC had thrown two events prior at the Capital One 360 Café, it wasn’t until tonight that I finally bit the bullet and decided to open a checking and savings account. Even though I work for another (competing) financial institution [1], the rewards for starting as a Capital One client tonight were too tempting to turn down [2]. The Capital One 360 Café is incentive enough as is; in addition to offering two floors of seating, they serve quality coffee and snacks throughout the day, which are priced at half off for existing clients. It’s a cozy place to bring a laptop or a book to bide the time, and yes, you can get your banking needs taken care of at the same time.
And the event? We were well-​fed with a variety of Kimchi Grill burritos (which included Spicy Pork, Beef, Spicy Chicken, and Vegetable) and had plenty of drinks available throughout the night as well (wine, beer, and soda). The venue was spacious enough to allow us to move between floors and had plenty of comfortable seating as well. In addition to offering several raffle prizes (unfortunately, I lost again at the chance to win Mets tickets, the booze cruise tickets, or the Über gift card), there was also a t-​shirt press station where you could physically stamp a design on a shirt to take home. And as always, it was a fun time catching up with friends and meeting new ones.
Thanks again to the Unilocal crew who was hard at work throughout the evening (Ruggy, Jando, and the ever-​stealthy Nelson) as well as the Capital One staff for engaging and entertaining us throughout the night. I have to admit, I’m looking forward to Year 4. :)

Synopsis: Another Manhattan event! What can I say. Pure fabulousness! To be Elite, is just wonderful! You meet such wonderful and diverse groups of people. I met Nikki, Vivian, Jonan, Igna, Sunita, Denice, Damien, and two other girls. Loved it. The food was okay, wish it was a little hot and prepared per order instead of pre-​made. The red wine was off the hook, with white as a back-​up! The shirt-​making was amazing, and I just wished I was able to get some suppah swag from Igna! I promised her, I would bring her along with any prizes that I won, but that wasn’t enough to win. Hahahahhaha!
Environment: Wow, I went to another Capital One 360 Café in Chicago, and let me tell you… UP-​GRADE! Like Beyonce… let me upgrade you! It seemed so open and clubbish/​loungish. I felt completely underdressed, but after a few wines no one gives a rip right? With two floors, you definitely do not find yourself «smashed» at any event! I think the red florescent light really gives a boom! Red Light Special, TLC! Baby!
Employees: Igna and staff were so wonderful. Smiles for days. There was this one guy who was dreamy looking, but… I never caught his name. Anyway, very nice people. From the pour to the hosting. Yes!
Food: Kimchee Grill… don’t get me wrong the concept was wonderful, and the food was delicious. but…my burrito was kind of soggy. I wonder if it is possible to make the burrito on-​site? Food sanitation issues, maybe? It would have brought it up a notch to new levels of awesomeness!
Drinks:
Red Blend: Now… yum! Blends are always… mostly great compared to their individual 100% whatever because of the complexity that is involved. I just love that stuff! Layers… like an onion, but without all that crying! ⁵⁄₅
White: Um… ew…put me off. I had to wait until I was buzzing before I thought it was water. ¹⁄₅
Cost: ^^ Cheapers, Tip for love!
Accessibility: Really easy by busssss and the train!

So fun! Back to back events for me! Capital One 360 is such a friendly corporate venue. This is their only NY location, btw. There are two spacious floors so it was nice to be able to roam around. Staff was so nice without being pushy. I would have totally signed up for a checking account with the deal they had for elites ($ 50 amazon gift card!) but I have way too many already.
Tasty burritos from Kimchi Grill (spicy chicken was so good!) and a great wine and beer selection for pours. The live tshirt screening was pretty cool too. I got the gradient!
It was so nice to meet more new elites and mingle with familiar faces. My +1 enjoyed the event as well.
