I ordered this in for delivery so I can’t really speak for eating in, but it came super quickly and it was great. I got the scallion pancake and the spicy pork dumplings. The scallion pancake was AWESOME. I love a good scallion pancake and this one was just right. The dumplings on the other hand, I think maybe one of them broke in the box because they came all sitting in a layer of red oil, which was kind of off putting. Totally not their fault though, and when I ate them the food was still pretty good! I’m interested in going in person now because I bet it’s even better when you’re in the actual restaurant.

Famous Sichuan is a fantastic restaurant that serves(as the name suggests) Sichuan food. Tried the following dishes: Sichuan Style Cucumber(light and savory. paired well with the spicier foods) Dan Dan Noodle w. Chili Sauce(well done, well seasoned) Sichuan Spicy Pork Dumpling(terrific authentic dumplings with a kick) Wonton w. Red Oili(terrific authentic wontons with a kick) Braised Lam w. Sichuan Chili Sauce(basically lamb + cumin. A must have, even if you’re not a big fan of lamb generally) Braised Fish Filet w. Sishuan Chili Sauce(Also a must have. It’s a fish soup that’s especially great on a cold winter day, but also enjoyable all year around) Sesame Chicken(don’t judge) Braised Pork w. Chestnut(In case you’re not that into spicy foods, strongly recommend this sweeter dish. Chestnuts go pretty well with braised pork) Glutinous rice ball in sweet rice soup(a.k.a. sesame balls. Sweet and a great way to end the evening). All in all, they serve great fare, good prices, a low key but still nice décor, excellent service, etc. Highly recommended.

Great service. Great Chong Qing spicy dry chicken. Amazing shredded beef with hot green peppers. Not overly oily. Would definitely come again!

The food is out of this world and the staff is beyond amazing. I recommend dining in. Really cute restaurant. Try the Hot Pot. So delicious. Thanks Irene! I came here with a great living social deal and left extremely fully, extremely happy, and only paying $ 6! I’m definitely a customer

How do I love hot pot? Let me count the ways. This place had a solid hot pot offering, with a mild chicken broth option and a spicy sichuan broth that was vegetarian. That said, a 4-star review became a 3-star review over pricing. This bill came to $ 100 for 3 individuals who ate moderately(and mostly vegetarian). A la carte prices were a tad ridiculous, e.g. $ 1.95 for plain old soy sauce + oil and $ 5 – 7 dollars for small servings of raw vegetables.

Ordered sautéed greens, C40 Dry fried chicken and spicy dumplings. All excellent. The chicken dish is one of the most popular dishes here according to the waitress and was very good. It’s like popcorn chicken Sichuan style. The dumpling sauce and the dumplings themselves are deliberately delicious.

We came here Sichuan House Special Pot(Wok)for $ 23.95 and not only did it have a lot of yummy goodness, it was delicious and hits the spot. Initially, I wanted the«Shabu Shabu”-esque hot pot but since everything on that menu was a la carte, that would have been too pricey for a simple weeknight dinner in Chinatown and as I am typing this, I am glad I chose something else! Anyhoo, we had the House Special pot(wok) and some soup dumplings. I will probably try another appetizer with the House Special pot(wok). But man, that House Special is good stuff! They made sure to keep the spicy level to the degree you requested– so no burning intestines for me. ;) The servers are super friendly, good English and Chinese, made sure our iced water and tea was filled. We lucked out with just randomly walking in here. Oh and here is why they have the five star– they gave us free dessert. After turning down free dessert from another restaurant this week, I cannot say no. The sesame ball sweet soup is good. All smiles all around.

I do love the hot pot which is really really amazing!(half chicken broth and half spicy broth) It’s very fantastic! The most popular here is chongqing spicy dry chicken which is hot and crispy. I also like the spicy double cooked pork. It tastes so great!

My go-to place for Hot Pot. Ingredients always fresh(especially the delicious beef and lamb), broth always flavorful. Dan Dan noodles are pretty awesome too as are the spicy pork dumplings. Tried the oxtail once and that was good too. Service isn’t the greatest, but not really that bad, I.e. not that different from the Chinatown average.

The food is definitely not authentic. Not spicy and lacks flavor in the dishes. I brought the groupon deal and for 2 people you can get your choice of hotpot combo, which we chose the beef one. They only gave us 8 pieces of fat beef for 2 people to eat! That’s all the meat there is and the real is all veggie and noodles, I mean seriously they are so stingy on the meat and the sauce doesn’t come with the hotpot. $ 2 for one sauce! I have never heard restaurants charge for hotpot sauce! It is ridiculous, the 2 dishes I tried were just bad. The appetizers were ok, overall I would not recommend people to go there.

Wanted noodles, but not in broth. Wanted szechuan, but not hot pot. Oh the dilemmas of finding a place to eat when you have cravings. After checking out a few spots, we ended up stopping in here, but barely being able to get to the door due to the amount of people waiting in the street to get into Joe’s Shanghai(which is directly across the street). The placed looked a little divey from the outside, but it was actually rather nice. We were able to get seated right away… and in which case, they give you 3 menus. A little overwhelming in my opinion. And the tables are a little too close together. I had to lift my butt and suck it in to literally squeeze between the tables to get to my seat against the wall. First menu, a la carte hot pot. Second menu, restaurant a la carte menu. Third menu, sichuan hot pot special. After looking at the regular menu, dinner was going to end up being quite pricey. Family style and best if there were more than two people maybe. We opted to split the sichuan hot pot special(menu price $ 23.95) and then we added an extra item for $ 3.99. More than we were planning on spending. We also go the Chongqing chicken(which was large diced dark meat battered fried and spiced up). The chicken was very good… a very small amount for $ 17.95, but very good. The hot pot special was a great deal and could easily feel up to 3 people. If I came again I would definitely get the hot pot special again. The spice level wasn’t at all overwhelming, but it wasn’t underwhelming either. It was good. I would have preferred a bit more spice, but that’s just me. TLDR: definitefly worth check out if you’re in the area.

Came here with a Groupon for 2(1 appetizer, 2 mains, 2 drinks and dessert). The coupon didn’t mention anything about a separate menu so we were a bit surprised that we could only order from a set menu. Up front honesty is appreciated nonetheless. On close examination, while the set menu don’t have everything, it still offers good variety including fish and shrimp dishes. The chili chicken appetizer was awesome and portion was good. We poured all the chili sauce/oil over rice in the end, yum. Fish and shrimp dishes were good too. By comparing with other Unilocal pictures, our mains appeared to be more or less the standard size. We also got a qingdao beer and a scoop of ice cream each. No problem with the bill and applying the groupon at the end, which was nice. The place was about 80% full on this Friday night. Most other people were having hotspot. The tables were so crammed that I worried about the servers spilling food(or chili oil) over my head the whole time(luckily did not happen). Food came out quickly and servers were always around and available. Some of them were a little hard to understand but I think they were really doing their best with the best intentions and deserved the credit. Overall we enjoyed the meal and were well fed with lots of chili oil. I will consider going back or maybe trying the takeout next time.

Went there with Groupon deal $ 30 meal for two. We decided to have the hotpot lamb combo which has lots vegetables only small portions of lamb. Since I’m not really a meat person so I don’t mind. Overall, the service was good staff were friendly. The place was kind quiet only 3 tables including us, and every table was using the Groupon. Lol

Got the Groupon($ 32 for a two person dinner– one appetizer, 2 entrees or hotpot, dessert and one glass of wine or beer per person) and came in on a Saturday night with my friend(if you have the Groupon, make sure to make the reservation beforehand!) The place was fairly empty at 7pm(a stark difference from the folks waiting outside of Joe’s Shanghai right across the street). We shared a dan-dan noodle– nice and not too spicy! The chopped peanuts had a really great rich nutty flavor. We decided to get the chicken broth hotpot(we «chicken-ed» out on the spicy one haha…), and it was rich and flavorful(but maybe a little too oily?). We decided to get the beef combo-beef slices were very small, and we got a plateful of these slices. Vegetables that are part of the combo include enoki mushrooms, bokchoy, broccoli, bean sprouts and bamboo shoots. It also came with 2 types of noodles, some fish balls, and shrimp. Dessert is a scoop of vanilla or green tea ice cream! I’ve had better hotpot elsewhere, but for the price and portion, the groupon is a pretty good deal. Will come again if we have a groupon!

I don’t know why those people wait outside Joe’s Shanghai(THEYARENOTGOODANYMORE!!!) Come to this place, it’s empty most weekend except they are busy filling take out. If a place has good busy takeout, you know the locals eat here. Don’t be a regular tourist. Anyway, we are here on a Thursday night. The place is empty and I told my friends that I book the whole place for just us as a joke. But really we ended up having the whole place for just us. Food is a bit more traditional Szechuan than the other place down the block. Food here is less salty and definitely more flavorful. Price however it’s a bit higher by a few dollar. My only complain will be the portion side. Really they need to upper the portion. I don’t pay $ 20 for few piece of meat food. Well it’s better than those fancy fancy places(Per Se) which give you 2 pieces of meat for that price literally. Moving along. If you want to catch up with friends and actually hear each other, go here. If you really want those soup dumpling, order takeout and have they deliver to this restaurant. Seriously. Imagine using seamless to get food deliver to the restaurant you are eating at. epic!

their sichuan dishes have the right ingredients that makes it authentic sichuan food: sichuan peppercorn, red chilli, pixian doubanjiang, yibin yacai, etc., lots of flavour. I would definitely come back.

I am officially bumping my rating up to a 4! On a rainy late night in the office, there is nothing I crave more than quick, comforting Chinese food. Out of all the Chinese restaurants that I have ordered delivery from, Famous Sichuan is hands down the fastest. Obviously, at a Sichuan restaurant, you should be trying the spicy food. I’ve ordered the Chongqing spicy chicken, a classic dish that every Sichuan restaurant serves, and it was definitely a solid(and very unhealthy) option. I was actually craving something non spicy, and Famous Sichuan didn’t fail to make those tasty as well. I ordered the pork and winter melon soup, which tasted very homey, as in something that I can imagine my mom making for me. I’ve also had the shrimp and bean curd soupy entrée. It’s a good option if you’re looking for something light, not to mention the tofu is very soft.

3.5 stars. Ordered from here for the first time today. Delivery via Seamless only took 15 minutes, so I was highly pleased with that. I had the wonton soup and the stir fried chicken with spicy capsicum(super weird name-no idea how they came by that translation, but okay lol). The soup was light and savory, but I wish the wontons had just a tad bit more meat as opposed to skin. The chicken was actually very spicy(lots of dry red peppers) but quite salty and crunchy in a satisfactory way. It was a little more fried than I would have liked though(I was misled by the«stir fry» part of the description). The food was a bit pricey for Chinese but above average quality for such such quick delivery/preparation. I definitely want to try other things from here in the future!

Their food is nice and spicy, at first anyway. Over years it has lost the level of spiciness and the flavorful ma la spicy. Their dishes like the braised fish in chili sauce or even the mapo tofu lost the intensity and the kick it once had. This was a spot for the taste of the spicier side of Chinese food and now that they lost that, I feel very little incentive to return as their prices were never really Chinatown prices(not as cheap as other places). If their food kept on par, price would be less important, but as it stands, I lost faith in them. We’ll see if they can redeem themselves in the future, if I ever make a return visit. They get points for clean environment and relatively nice staff, adding to the first 2 stars. The last star was for prior visits and their good food in the past. If their food had been consistently good, I would’ve given them 4 stars, but they don’t make the cut to get that extra point.

You know the place is legit when there’s a lady prepping string beans in the dining room lol jk Came here because I was craving Szechuan food. Their tea smoked duck was amazing. This is the first time I’ve tried the dish so I have no comparison. The intestine with pork blood was also very flavorful. Sadly the peppered ribs were way too salty for me. They take American Express(yes that’s a big deal for me) 10⁄10 would go back.
