Easily the best Chinese delivery food in the East Village. I’ve been ordering from this place for over a decade and have tried a LOT of the vast menu. The food is very fresh, lots of vegetables(incl my fave bamboo shoots), meat is not fatty or gristly, portions are generous. Greasy apps like spare ribs, dumplings, fried wonton and crab rangoon hit the spot when you need the fix. Duck, butterfly shrimp and General Tso’s are very good as are all mu shu and egg foo yung(although you only get 2 pancakes with the mu shu so order extra). Delicious fried rice, brown rice and other healthy alternatives available. Because prices are so low, I usually order a ton of food – soups and quarts of protein/mixed veg in various sauces – to freeze in individual portions for later: healthier and cheaper than making it myself.(Their food is not overly salted unlike other places.) The woman on the phone is very busy but nice as are the delivery guys. Time between ordering and delivery is lightning quick, usually b/w 20 – 30 minutes. Check the menu as you get free stuff(soda, sesame noodles, etc.) the more you spend. Much better than most fast food American Chinese and an incredible value. Cash only.

Grabbed this for dinner. Delivery was extremely quick. Inexpensive for a good amount of food. Got the pepper steak with onion, a little overwhelmed by the amount of peppers, wounding love more steak. Fried rice was yellow which I found bizarre, but still good. Enjoyed the crab ran goons, lo mein special and egg rolls. If you like Chinese and live in lower east– not a bad place to order from.

There are at least 5 take out Chinese places closer to me but Fei Ma is by far the best. Cheap too! Love the General Tso’s tofu and the General Tso’s chicken. Sliced roast pork appetizer is as good as most places in Chinatown. Down side: cash only.

One notch above your standard American Chinese food take out. Tried the spring rolls, crab rangoon, and chow fun. Total was under $ 20. The noodles had a nice stir fry flavor to them, but not much sauce. The fried items were standard, seemed like they were frozen. The timing was impressive, ready to eat in less than 10 minutes. Would return to get carryout!

If you live in the East Village, the complimentary Fei Ma 2015 Calendar should be on your fridge ready to spike your interest in some juicy General Tso’s Chicken every time you peak your head in for some left overs. Basically Fei Ma is a decent option for some good old classic Chinese-American Food. The price is right, and if you live close you’ll get your food quickly. Take note: your best option is to call them up to order, because i don’t believe they have you can order online. However it is a small bump in an otherwise good old greasy evening.

Cheap, fast, good. What more could you want? Its right in our neighborhood, so its a great option for those nights you just don’t want to cook. Recommend the roast pork mei fun(great deal, bang for your buck) and the General Tso’s! *I just want to give a shout out to the delivery guy– I’m so sorry I didn’t hear the phone ringing when you got here! and thank you for rescuing me and the BF when the front door of our building wouldn’t open…

Wow… service here was so rude. I was ignored for a solid 30 minutes while the guy was on the phone(on a very obvious personal call) and then when I asked if I could place my order, I was met with a really nasty attitude. The chicken meat I got was super chewy and sinewy, and they thickened the sauce with too much cornstarch. It literally left a coating on my tongue. On top of that, the rice I got wasn’t even that warm and had really hard pieces of rice still in it. I’m super disappointed. I definitely won’t come back.

the food used to be good, lately the person on the phone is rude. one time they messed up my chicken with veggies and when i called to complain, she said what do you want me to do? i asked for a new order and they just delivered me the chicken with no rice or veggies

Solid Chinese. Cash only is the downside. Very quick though. I times them once and they came within eleven minutes… eleven. Food is par for the course, portions are generous, but like I said it’s cash only so it’s a bit of a pain if you’re home in the winter with no dollar bills. With your order though, good chinese for stuy town and east village area.

I sort of love this place. It’s less than half a block from home. It’s just a reasonably priced Chinese tack away place. It is amazing? Nope. would I go here if I didn’t live right here? Most likely not, but look, the food doesn’t cost to much and they’ve not screwed up an order in the three years I’ve been going here.

Just moved into the area and decided to try out the local cheap eateries because I’m a cheap college kid living off my parent’s income, and of course the first place to go to are the fast food Chinese places. I ordered their sesame chicken here and my god it was at least 75% breading. I don’t think I even got a full chicken leg out of that one dish. The sauce was also really heavy and I felt like I was drinking msg syrup. So deep fried bread and syrup = not a good experience. Needless to say I prob won’t be coming here again. Two of my other suitemates tried the place out too that day and both agree that this place is one of the lower fast food Chinese places in the area. If you want something consistently decent go to New Chinatown on 3rd and ave d. This place gets an extra star for the frugal ppl out there because it really is cheap and filling, as long as you don’t account for the cost of the few years you lose out on at the end

Food was bad. Tasted like absolutely nothing. Spring roll was like card board. Beef chow fun was some sort of mushy stuff. Roast pork with vegetables totally bland. I guess it wasn’t toxic, that’s it.

Absolutely love this place. The General Tsoa’s tofu is the best. The only downfall is that it’s cash only.

Today I ordered wings w/fries, general tso and eggplant and chicken w/garlic sauce. I have been comparing prices from 3 local Chinese restaurant, and this place has the cheapest prices. The wings were huge compared to china wok. General Tso chicken pieces are small which makes it crunchy. Their sauce are a bit too sweet and is too red but wasn’t bad. Their eggplant and chicken looks like sh*t and didn’t taste good either. Golden Forest makes the best eggplant and chicken. China wok has the best general tso. updates Pros: chicken wings Cons: General tso sauce was too sweet and red. eggplant and chicken tasted weird and look like a glop of goo. Didn’t taste good either. The chicken pieces had some weird black marks in it. Found a short white hair in my food.

After trying several of the East Village take out options, I’ve settled on Fei Ma as my go-to Chinese place. They’ve got the standard offerings and my favorite, General Gaos, is crispy and flavorful without being too greasy. If ordering delivery, the food gets to your apartment maybe 15 minutes after you order, a nice perk. Overall, a nice option when you’re craving Chinese on a cold Sunday night.

This review is solely based on the experience I had with delivery. To keep it short, fast delivery and a quick fix for my cravings! I ordered hot and sour soup, shrimp with cashew nuts and it came with white rice and a can of Coca Cola! The food was not bad at all and the fact that they are super fast with their delivery, I’ll definitely come back.

Yes, I am a FAN. I will, nonetheless, out of Unilocalintegrity, preface the following review by disclosing the below fact: Every single time I’ve been to Fei Ma, I have had sessions at The Library . Honestly, I only had three drinks at The Library last night and my Singapore Chow Mei Fun was just as good as the first time I tried it. For $ 4.95 you get a styrofoam-plate-full of steaming fast food Chinese. At any hour of the night! Mei Fa is absolutely delicious as long as you check your unreasonably lofty expectations for a nearly-hole-in-the-wall fast food Chinese joint. I’d recommend dining-in, since it’ll give your food less time to think about its temporal existence and prevent it from going sweaty and soggy on you.
