If you were in dire freaking need of an Irish pub and you so happen upon this place and don’t want to chance it on 4 other similar irish pubs in a 2 blocks radius then sure, waltz right in. If you’re here for drinks, stay at the bar. Because there is a huge difference between the drinks the bartender makes for their bar customers, who are obligated by fear to tip a dollar per drink, and the dine in customers who tip by percentage. My whiskey neat looked like half was spilled on its way over. Even spitting in it to make up for lost volume would be acceptable. The mixed drinks they make are safe enough for toddlers. The food on other hand is ok.

This is my favorite NYC bar. Great beer selection and awesome place for sports lovers. Food is above average with nice hefty portions. Great atmosphere and best bartenders in town.

An Irish pub that’s also a baseball bar? Yes please! This is a friendly, completely unpretentious spot with a nice beer selection and great food. I especially like the fish & chips and the Foley’s burger(bacon, cheddar, onions, and mushrooms — yum!). For sports fans, the memorabilia covering the walls(and every other spot they could fill) is also a lot of fun. This is a great place to watch a game over some beers or have a relaxing dinner with friends. In a part of the city where a lot of restaurants are very expensive, very trendy, or just plain bad, a pub like Foley’s is a refreshing change!

Awesome bar we stumbled upon last Sept. Absolutely LOVE all the baseball memorabilia. But they were missing ONE thing, a DODGERS jersey. So this past weekend, we gave Foley’s an Andre Either Dodgers Jersey! GODODGERS! Until next time Foley’s!

I felt this was a deceptive Unilocal location. The three beers I ordered were«all out.» The fourth, a Guinness IPA was flat and warm. It didn’t leave a trace in the glass and once the glass was empty, it looked like it was filled with water with no beer films whatsoever. I hear this indicates a dirty glass. Or just whack beer. Then I had wings, one of my many vices. Dang! The skin was flopping off those boys like they only exercised once a month. Kind of a let down with the otherwise 4 dubious Unilocal starts.

I have to admit that I am not a drinker. It’s just not my thing. With that being said, when a good friend of mine suggested that I accompany him and a few other people to one of his favorite pubs, I was a bit hesitant because I figured that I’d have to order some alcoholic beverage and nurse it until we were ready to leave. Little did I know that I was going to end up liking the place so much that I’d return to it many times over the next few years. When you look at Foley’s from the outside, it looks like you’re average run-of-the-mill Irish pub. In any case, as soon as I walked in the first time I was amazed at how warm and cozy the place felt. There were people at a bar in the front drinking and watching sports on a flatscreen TV and cheering for whatever team was playing. I think it was a soccer match. We made our way to the back where there were tables and more TVs. The tables were good enough to comfortably seat four people, and there was enough space between each table so that you weren’t sitting on top of other patrons. Our waitress, who by the way had a wonderful Irish accent, brought us menus and gave us a few moments to make up our minds. I didn’t know what to expect since I am not bar-going person, but I noticed that they had some interesting selections on the menu. We ordered some fried ravioli, some mozzarella sticks, and french fries for appetizers. The fried ravioli was amazing. I couldn’t believe I was eating food that tasted this good in a pub of all places. The mozzarella sticks and french fries were also exceptionally good. We then ordered our main courses. I couldn’t make up my mind so I ordered something that didn’t take too much though: a cheeseburger. Everyone at our table commented on how good their food was. My burger was really delicious and well made. I was really impressed with the quality of food at this place. The environment is really comforting, even when people are cheering for their teams. The place is pretty clean and the people who work there are very friendly. The walls are adorned with sports photographs and cards, and everywhere you look has something to remind you that this is without question a place for people who take their sports seriously. I’m not much of a big sports fan, but I still appreciate the ambiance. I’ve returned many times over the years to Foley’s, and I’ve recommended it to many of my colleagues and friends. If you’re in midtown and want a place to stop in for a drink and/or a good meal, definitely check this place out.

The most impressive sports memorabilia collection I’ve ever seen at a bar or anywhere else for that matter! Other than that it’s just a nice little Irish pub, but it’s getting five stars from this Unilocaler for an unprecedented collection of amazing sports stuff!

As anyone who reads my reviews, of which I’m sure there may be two, I love dive bars. I love how much character they have and how much sentimentality they have from past patrons. The cheap booze is a plus, of course. For whatever reason, I love bars with stuff on the walls. The more cluttered looking, the better. So of course when I walked by and saw the soccer jerseys hanging from the ceiling it became a pretty automatic add to my list. Great beer list with a few beers of their own. Great bar food with a few unique additions. Great service. It’s nothing fancy or particularly special, but you need a place like this just like you need comfy jeans that don’t make you feel particularly sexy, but don’t pinch and but also fit just right. This is the place to come when you don’t feel like messing around with all the other places in midtown. You can’t go wrong here. However, the ladies room is down a pretty treacherous flight of stairs, so might not be a bad idea to come here earlier in your night than later.

Best baseball bar I’ve been to in Manhattan — hands down. The bar’s eclectic memorabilia collection of assorted sports goods — mostly baseball — is a nice change from the typical NY sports bar. I would recommend this bar for any baseball fan for pretty much any night of the week. Staff is friendly and on their game, and their tap selection is good as well.

First of all. it’s a bar. As long as the taps are cold, the bartenders are amicable and there arent any of «those» people in there… you know, the«undesirables,» you can’t go wrong. The fact that this is a «Cardinals» bar doesnt even offend me. Heck, St. Louis fans are generally nice, not crude and true sports enthusiast. Heck, at least they were smart enough to leave St. Louis and come to the city… who wants to live there? Ugh! The food: It’s ok. Pedestrian. To mediocre. Nothing stellar. Bar food. So what does that mean? It’s packaged crap, very rare you’ll find anything gourmet, with any depth of flavor or that it took considerable talent to put together. Nachos = open up that package, that can, this tub, and dump it onto the chips. Onion rings… Meh. Ceasar salad… you can find just as good dressing and put together salads in a group home. For lunch, I went once to catch a afternoon game and had the fish and chips… listen, you can get the same at any other spot in there city. No true irish man or aficionado of this dish will ever say these fish & chips are great. Batter the fish, season it beforehand and fry it… doesnt take a rocket scientist or someone with a high school diploma. The tap selection is aight. What do you want? To get drunk and maybe pick up a mid-west, big bra wearing feline? Yah, maybe it can happen here.

The bartenders are Foley’s are really where this place shines. Also, its a St. Louis Cardinals Bar so if you are a fan, you are in luck! They have a great selection of beers and something is always on special. The food is okay; I know they just re-did the menu so perhaps it is worth another go. If the Cardinals make it into the playoffs, you have to get here HOURS early(no joke). They set up a line in the front outside of the bar, it gets so packed.

I picked this place to have lunch, have some beers, and watch a Mets game. The bar was full at lunchtime but there were a few empty tables. I tried a wheat beer from Nebraska which was pretty good and ordered another. For lunch I had French onion soup and shrimp Caesar salad. Both dishes were average at best. Service was slow so I had plenty of time to watch the game and check out the décor. I think people enjoy the memorabilia and that is why this place gets good ratings, because the food is mediocre and the service is slow.

An Irish Pub with a baseball attitude. Came here earlier this evening for an early dinner with the wifey. The food is typical Irish Pub fare with Nachos, burgers, onion rings etc. They have approximately 108 different beers on tap and bottle. For an appetizer we shared the mini hot dogs, three hotdogs smothered in chili and cheese. The chili had just a slight kick. For entrees my wife went with the traditional Fish and Chips. I was slightly more adventurous having the Sean Casey burger which was covered with Irish bacon and an over easy egg. The best part of my night had to be the Sports Memorabilia. Irish Pubs come and go, this one is a bonus with over 1500 autographed baseballs, a multitude of game worn autographed jerseys from many different sports. This is a sports fan’s nirvana. But don’t try to sing Danny Boy here. It is also famous for banning that song during the month of March since 2008. Our waitress Kathy was super friendly, even taking the time to give me a tour and pointing out objects of interest. Some of my favorites were the seats from the old stadiums that no longer exist. I counted 12. Take your time, look around and enjoy the games on the many flat screens they have around. Slainte!

I came here with a big Penguins fan, and we weren’t quite sure what to expect. When you first walk in, there is tons of various sports memorabilia everywhere. We asked the hostess and she walked us to the back of the bar, where there was a huge projector screen. There was a large party of Penguins fans, as well as some solo supporters. While it’s a typical sports bar, the service while we were there was great. Our beer bucket(great deal) was refilled before it was about done. What more can you ask for from an old sports bar?

REVISIT: 1. Oldest urinals in NYC… Your chance to do it where LINCOLN did it! 2. Incredible service. Our waitress(I was a bit too soused to remember her name! Dorothy?) was a goddess. Besides having lived in Okinawa– with in-laws in Mexico(our group was Mexicans and Japanese), she was always on the spot, gave us a deal, stayed to chat, just great. 3. The baseball nostalgia makes it a mini-Cooperstown. You could spend hours just looking at the walls. 4. Our Buffalo wings expert rates them 9⁄10. Nice kick to ‘em, I say! 5. The beer list was not super, okay, but not spectacular. It’s the only thing missing. Well, the menu itself isn’t that varied… but it’s a BAR! 6. During games it’s crowded. After, it’s quiet. But even during games the crowd is civil… something you don’t see in other sports bars. 7. It’s close to Rick’s Cabaret. We’ll be back. This is an incredible place to take guests. They won’t find anyplace like it in DesMoines… or Tokyo. –Drink Club NYC is a roving bar of NYC drinkers, a different bar every week.

Sports bar between Penn Station and the Empire State Building. If you’re looking for frills, go to Legends. Foley’s has tons of sports memorabilia on the walls, so there’s always something to look at or have a conversation about, if you like sports. And if you don’t like sports, then… go somewhere else, I guess.

I wanted to eat lunch at an Irish bar and this place did not disappoint! My coworkers and I ordered a ton of food and the waitress was extreme nice and motherly to the three of us girls. The most delicious thing we ordered out of everything we got was definitely the thin-crust pizza with mushrooms and onions, which I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

Drinks: Guinness Irish Pint and Hennessy & Coke. On point. Not a problem. Appetizer: French Onion Soup. All cheesy goodness. Not a problem. Main course: For me, Shepherd’s Pie. Not a problem. For the other half, The Pittsburgh Steak Salad, which comes covered in French fries. Not the healthiest of salads. Not a problem. For dessert: The Derek Jeter Sundae: A warmed up brownie with vanilla ice cream whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Not a problem. Our waitress’s response after every request«Not a problem». Foley’s, in the shadow of the Empire State Building. Not a problem.

Tip Top.
