We had: the clam chowder, fish and chips, turkey club and the crab cakes. All were very good! We also had the cheese cake, which was AMAZING!

So a friend & I were shopping for a few things at this Macy’s located in herald sq. We got hungry so decided why not eat the places offered. We decided to come here & did not regret it. I got a plate of fries & a burger & they were so delicious! The fries were so crispy(just how I like them) & the burger was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is great as well. The lights are dim & it looks very classy for a grill in a macys. Defiantly coming back when I shop here again :)

Me and my boyfriend decided to eat dinner at The Cellar, after a whole day out walking around the city. The food is decent and prices are moderate. We had a bacon and fried onion burger. Hot and juicy. The shoe string fries were crispy and delicious. For being a restaurant inside the store, the ambiance is great to relax to after some serious retail therapy shopping.

I decided to dine here with a friend before going shopping. Well, this is where the shopping trip ended. I had an American burger with fries and she had fish with fries. One hour later we were both exceedingly ill from the food and had to return home. Although the service was friendly enough, it gets a single star because the least I can expect from a slightly pricey menu is food that is prepared properly. Beware!

This is a great place, a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere that shields you from the chaos that goes on throughout the rest of the store. The food is decent, though overpriced; hence the 3 stars and not 4. Just be mindful that you are paying for the peace and quiet.

Convenient place to swing by for a cocktail, pre– or post-shopping. Can get a bit crowded, and service can be a bit spotty, but Macys isn’t really in the restaurant business afterall … thumbs up for convenience and pretty good service on average

Meeting friends for dinner in two hours, so I stopped in for a quick snack and a cocktail. Freshly made guacamole w/chips and a strawberry Margarita hit the spot perfectly. Not a place for grand cuisine, but a great place for a cocktail and some finger food. VERY good servers, polite and nice.

I would have given more stars if their menu had better selection of entrees. My friend told me so much about it that we dined there for dinner after shopping. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. I don’t eat red meat(pork or beef) and so my choices were limited. The menu listed as per Unilocal wasn’t helpful because the waiter said it’s two years behind. So it was a bit misleading. I ended up ordering clam chowder and key lime pie. My friend ordered the All-American burger. He seemed to like his choice. I felt the chowder had more potatoes than clam pieces. I was n’t too satisfied. The only reason I finished it is because I was starving and it was a warm meal. The pie was okay. Also, I read that the shoestring fries are a must try. Not true. They tasted like regular French fries. I’ve tasted better. Overall, I don’t think I would ever dine here again. The only way I would return is if they added more options.

If you are a New Yorker, don’t bother. Go to your neighborhood diner instead. The food here is average yet the price is arrogantly higher. The burger I ordered was $ 14. I could get a better tasting(and less expensive) one at any diner in the city. If you are a tourist visiting Macy’s, go instead to the new Stella’s restaurant on the 6th Floor. Same high price but the good food will make the price more worth it. Also, the ambience and décor at Stella’s are 10 times better. Gorgeous cleaner bathrooms vs the public bathroom outside the Macy’s Cellar Bar & Grill(yes, you have to use the mall bathroom as they have none inside the restaurant). Service here was slow at first. But was attentive as soon as I ordered. When I was seated, many waiters saw me and despite only few tables were occupied, it still took a good 15 mins before someone noticed I was alive. I am 6ft tall and was sitting beside the cashier. How could you not see me? In summary, avoid this overpriced mediocre place and run to the 6th floor instead, to Stella’s. Macy’s has an express elevator(near entrance, behind the Burberry store) straight to that place. I guess they know their priorities.

Not bad. Didnt know Macys had Bar and Grills in them… With all the floors it was a relief to sit down and kick back for awhile here.

Service… Our server was friendly Ambience… Was laid back, somewhat like a sports bar, with TVs, loud talking ppl who wants to be seen. This place gets 2 thumbs up, I think was the best hamburger I have ever had, I was so juicy and moist.(My sister said its because I hadn’t had a burger in a long time) This place was kind of expense, but I notice everything in NYC is overprice. I would definitely recommend this place. If I am ever in town I will go back again.

Needed a sit down after buying my wife a designer handbag ! Got a couple of spaces at the bar. Pint of Sam Adams lager was OK side order of truffle fries were nice but had been made with frozen fries at 6 dollars you think they could cut their own. Its OK and not the first or last time I will be there. As a side note my wife used the rest room and said they were filthy worse than some of the dive bars we had been to on this trip. I dropped about 500 dollar’s on this trip to Macy’s many others were spending much more. Clean facilities should be a given.

Grabbed lunch here while shopping one day. Service was excellent, and my burger was AMAZING. Reason for 4 stars is because my mom said her sandwich wasn’t very good. For a $ 13 sandwich, it should have been but my burger was worth every penny. I will definitely come back.

I don’t know what some people on here are reviewing, I didn’t see a salad bar here and my vision is 20⁄20. What I did find, and was pleasantly surprised by, was a little American Bistro type Restaurant in the basement of Macy’s. Three friends, one had a burger, the other a chicken sandwich and I the sirloin steak sandwich. Everything was excellent and fresh and service was with a smile. Decently priced but not a bargain. I thought the $ 16 steak sandwich was on par with what I’ve eaten and paid to eat in the city. We also got the brownie sundae for desert, it was served in an over sized chalice and was fit for a god. No complaints there.

What to do when you’re in NYC and have blisters on your feet and hungry? Visit this place on your«Macy’s Day,» because you know you’re going to go there at some point. Free wi-fi, although at times I had to hold my cell phone up away from a certain wall to pick up. The service, definitely had better. We actually visited here twice, once for lunch and then after walking down the street and going to the top of Empire State came back for cheesecake(Junior’s — we were told it’s «the one.») Service was better when it was slower, our«dessert run» was getting into dinner hour for regular folks — and we almost walked out. The food was good, nothing to jump up and done excited about, but nothing bad, either. Hubby had a cheeseburger and I had a chicken pot pie. Servers did not do a good job at checking our beverages so we both ran out of water or Diet Coke — I hate it when that happens. The reality when visiting NYC is there is so much to see and do, and so much of that is on your feet — if you’re like me, you welcome a little seated oasis from time to time to recover and get ready to move on. The Cellar provided this for sure, and I’d probably visit again on future visits for the same reason. And to clarify, we did visit The Cellar not the food bar. We saw the many options out there, but also the crowds and confusion, and we opted for the sit-down quieter experience.

Seriously not very good. I mean, if you are starving and shopping, then salad bar ok. Pre-made sandwiches, pizza tasteless, pasta marginal. I think it would be fine if you just wanted to split something to keep moving while you were shopping — but don’t make a trip there to try it.

Meh. I’ve experienced better. What’s good about the place is that when we went there was not wait. They had a modified bar menu, nothing fancy, which is what I expected. It was moderately overpriced but for the convenience of the location, I was OK with that. The ambiance is Macy’s themed. The food came out suspiciously fast. Everything was mediocre and not memorable. I have no real complaints about it. Chicken sandwich, portabella mushroom burger, the basic sides, meh. A little bizarre that the waitstaff was OVERLY attentive. I guess they were just bored.

Decent burgers but lousy service and price. The burgers were pretty juicy and flavorful. It came with a fair amount of fries. As for the service, the waiter took forever with our drinks and with everything else. It wasn’t very busy when I went so I couldn’t understand why he kept taking his sweet time. Verdict — After a long day of shopping, you might find yourself in here because it’s in the basement level of Macy’s and there aren’t many good places to eat around here. Yes, Korea Town is just a block away and there are other places but the truth is they all flat out suck.

2 and a half stars — WHAT say it isn’t so!!! OK peeps here is the real real on Macy’s Bar and Grill — the service is great — we always sit at the bar and JOSH(the most amazing bartender in the world) always happens to be working that day! He must have the inside scoop as to when all the one day sales are taking place or something! This place is great for shoppers who don’t feel like walking anywhere outside of Macy’s for a drink or something to eat — I think the prices are very inexpensive compared to the jacked up prices of Fridays or anywhere else on 34th street! The food is pretty decent — not bad, and not the best ever; but I heard that they are revamping the whole menu. I must say that the Key Lime Pie — is off the chain — we have often come for drinks and pie!!! I have made good friends here and has been a first stop meeting place for locals. So despite its 2 and a half stars — I’m still coming back!!! Tips for the tourists(and there are quite a few that come in here) Drinks are great food is OK — stop hatin on the food at this place there are soooo many other places to eat in the city! Everyone knows people come to Macy’s to SHOP!!!

While my sister seemed less than impressed with this place,(and is entirely right when it comes to the horrible LACK of service we received) I will go ahead and review it thusly: The crab cakes are very good. If anyone has read my reviews for Rock Center Café then you know I am a crab cake fan! These are tasty, not too breaded, with enough chunks of crab meat, wonderfully accentuated by the creamy chipotle dressing with which they are served. Another win was my Teriyaki Salmon. I think this could be easy to mess up, but it was beautifully flavored, and tender. What I loved even more were the mix of veggies(including bean sprouts) that were served under it — tangy, semi-spicy, all around scrumptious. I will admit my sister’s chicken — on the other hand — was greasy, bland, and wretchedly chewy. — Most likely over cooked. Go if you are shopping, but make sure you get something safe. The crab cakes are a good bet. I did not try the burgers. Oh, and as Ness said — the décor was nothing to write home about. But, for me it was comfortable enough, for the food and the price of lunch, no complaints there.
