We camped out here for a couple hours drinking before the Halloween Parade. The underground location is close to the parade route without having to wait outside in the elements and increasing numbers of costumed revelers. While inside, we played a couple of the bar’s reasonable selection of board games, had several pints of beer and ordered dinner. I had the chicken tenders, which were quite large and size and covered in a very thin but crunchy coating. It was unremarkable fare, although I later was happy to have soaked up some of the alcohol going into the system. I wound up back here a week later, this time just for drinks. Both times I found the service(both the food and for drinks) to be just awful. The bartenders were really mean, chatting among themselves and responding to requests for the check with a scowl. Seems like a place where once you became a local you’d get some respect, but with a mediocre beer list and bad food, I’m not sure why anyone would bother.

A nice short step up from a dive bar. We came for a birthday and we spent our time in the back, table service section. Our server, Ethan was awesome. Came around just often enough to make sure everyone was good on drinks. We never felt bothered. Drink selection was good — I was impressed Ethan knew the ins and out of the tap list and had recommendations based on his personal experience if you needed them. Football was on TV in the back area. There’s also a pool table if that’s your thing! I didn’t have any food but the people who did were impressed. Maybe someday? I wouldn’t rush back here personally but I definitely wouldn’t shy away if I was invited back.

We were in the city for the Village Halloween parade and wanted a place to have a few drinks and something to eat before taking in the parade. We also wanted to be close to or on the parade route. This subterranean restaurant is 60 feet from the start of the parade route. We arrived around 5:00pm, and found a semi crowded bar but plenty of seating in the back. They weren’t providing waitress service to the tables yet, so we had to order and keep our tab at the bar. We ordered some apps and Halloween drink specials from the bartender. Drinks were good, and $ 7 each for beer and cocktails. The food is good ol’ bar food but there were some vegetarian friendly options. The veggie burger looked big, and friends said it was pretty good. The husband had a chicken burger and enjoyed it and the sweet potato fries that came with it. I had a BLT and it was good. Around 5:30 a waiter came and took over our tab from the bar. This was a welcomed event as the bar filled up quick. The service began to slow down soon after that and we had a hard time checking out when we were ready to leave to see the parade. FYI, only two unisex bathrooms in the place so be warned that it can be a wait. We all waited a good amount of time. This was a really good spot to get ready to watch the parade though, and overall our experience was A-OK.

Sweet happy hour deals and a friendly bar staff. They have a jukebox, good beer selection and, if I recall correctly, a pretty damn decent quesadilla. Solid spot for drinks.

The perfect neighborhood haunt. Unassuming but comfortable space to drink alongside those who live or work in the area. Friendly team working here who’ll come to know your face, if not your name, over time. And they get mad props for always doing the holiday décor so well. The food is typical bar fare — but boy do some gooey nachos or some pierogis hit the spot under the right circumstances.

Sitting here right now. Absolutely horrible service, attempted to flag down servers multiple times with no success, finally got the lady operating the register’s attention and she walked off for more than a few minutes and finally took our order begrudgingly. Here’s hoping the food is okay.

I love this bar. The staff is very friendly and knows what they are doing. I have not ate in the back yet but the food at the bar hits the spot. The location is great and it has a speak easy vibe to it. It can get crowded but it’s never obnoxious to deal with.

Formerly Crow’s brings the best of both atmosphere and drinks. Their staff is always friendly and quick with service. This is a bar I can enjoy for a few drinks on a week night or as a stop on a night out on the town.

My friend brought me to this place because it is one of his go-to’s to get good drinks in NY. When I came the first time, I ordered this Nectarine Iced Tea(with 44 degree North) tasting mixed drink. It was seriously the best alcoholic beverage I’ve ever had ever! Unfortunately when I came back in February, I had to order something else because the drink that I ordered and loved was seasonal. I first ordered a lemonade tasting drink which I would recommend. But, I wouldn’t recommend the second drink I ordered which was something that had lavender in it(the mix of flavors didn’t work well together in my opinion). They also have this fun little touch screen juke box looking thing. We had fun requesting songs with it.

I celebrated my upcoming nuptials here with a group of friends. This place was the second stop of the tour and honestly it was mostly because it was big, and pretty empty. The drafts were okay, nothing too crazy but the food was all right. In fact, I think everyone fueled up here to get through the rest of the night. I liked it because they had a scotch egg-which was so hearty that I didn’t eat anything until hours later. In addition, they have a pool table but the birds hanging around were a little weird. Again, not a bad place but not one of those places that I want to put on my ‘go back to immediately’ list.

An amazingly unpretentious and comfortable bar located just steps away from Washington Square Park. This place isn’t a dive bar – it’s too clean and the service is too friendly for that – but it sort of has that vibe. Beer selection is good, and so are the drinks(although while the place feels like a comfy and unassuming bar, it still has Village prices.) The music on the digital jukebox was great both times I visited, too. Nice place for a casual drink with friends.

A friend celebrated Part 1 of her 27th birthday here! As other people have mentioned, it’s a very laid back atmosphere with good vibes. I wouldn’t call it a dive bar, though. If you’re ordering a mixed drink, order a double instead of a single — you get the most liquor for your money that way. Or just chase your shots with the pickle juice they have behind the bar, which is apparently a thing people actually do that I only discovered recently?! The guacamole and chips were good, but came in such a small portion. Their burgers looked really tasty, though, and I regret not ordering one. Music is mostly classic and alternative rock when no one’s playing anything on the jukebox. And they automatically win points with me for incorporating string lights in their décor!

My kind of dive. It’s always empty. Place of regulars. Booths in back. Friendly bartender who buys back. Having a dive to go to that’s not a macdougal shitshow never felt so good

What a find! Truly a hole in the wall. You’d miss it if you didn’t know. Basement entrance on typical village street. Friendly, good bar food and beer selection. long bar and couple dozen tables.

My hubby and I stopped here for a drink before dinner. I have to say I only chose to stop in this place because of the great Unilocal reviews and I’m glad we did. Its surprisingly laid back for a NYC bar. It has a very casual and laid back atmosphere. Pleasant bartenders. Pretty good happy hour specials. Strong drinks. Everything I like in a bar. Will definitely stop by again when we are in the neighborhood.

Any name that contains a nugget of history already predisposes me towards a favorable review. For the exact geographical location of the bar was once known as the«Stoned Crow» hence«formerly Crow’s Bar». The lineage goes back even deeper to the 1920’s Prohibition era when people would gather for an illegal drink here. Fast forward to modern times and the bar was pleasantly low key on an after work Friday. Add an accessible, friendly non-surly bar tender and the pluses are coming in strong. Atop the bar sat a laminated food menu from which we ordered hummus, wings and nachos. My choice of the wings was strictly for the sake of maintaining the avian theme.(Now if the bebop jazz classic«Ornithology» by Charlie Parker was on the jukebox this would have been bird heaven). In baseball, if you get two hits out of three at bats, you are on your way to a statistically satisfying game. Here, two out of three apps were winners. The nachos struck out as they seemed light on cheese, which for me, while healthier isn’t as satisfying. The other two were perfecting noshing and gnawing. I was initially dumbstruck as to what to drink so I went for a hard apple cider.(Don’t judge). I’m sure the bar keep would have made just about anything I requested but I went for hard apple cider on tap. Hey, it’s almost fall! A surprisingly clean bathroom adds to the overall A-OK rating.
