If you like to relax in a quiet salon in the Village then this is the place for you! No chaos, no loud traffic outside, it’s great! The garden ambience was beautiful and helped me relax into the chair. Taka achieved beautiful natural looking highlights with my hair and I love it! He was sincere, kind, and very focused on doing a wonderful job. I highly recommend Garden New York!

I have seen Shogo, Takashi, and Yuri. All very nice and skilled but a bit difficult to communicate with. Bringing reference photos helps with communication. They have some Japanese customs like not letting you put your bag on the floor(instead it goes on counter), putting a pillow on your lap(to prop up whatever you are reading). This tends to be a more quiet, zen salon. I would not recommend having a phone call while getting a treatment here.

I went to their branch in Tokyo and was surprised to find they actually have one here. Yoshiki is great, he’s nice, professional and understands my ‘Asian style’ needs. Would definitely recommend him!

This is a gold mine in West Village! The scalp massage is the best I have ever had. Yokkey styled my hair – I loved it and it lasted several days! Definitely a must-do when in NYC!

I really enjoyed Garden, you can tell that the team is very professional. Yokkey did a great job, the haircut is just the one I wanted. Im gonna be back for hair coloring. The next time I wanna find out what products they used, my hair feels very soft and smells amazing.

I would not come back every 3 weeks if I don’t love it. Garden hair salon has salons in Tokyo, not just 1 but(if I’m not mistaken) 3, and this is their first New York outpost. Its clean and beautifully decorated, and the receptionist to all the hair ‘designers’ are friendly and you’ll feel at home. I always go for Kyoko, English is not her forte but her cutting techniques and charms will win you over. Just sit, relax and sip your green tea while they work their magic.

Great salon! You can experience the highest service here. Glad that I could find this wonderful salon in New York. Japanese latest magazines are available and that’s also good. Needless to say, their skills are all the best!

I love this hair salon! It is located at the rives side, easy to reach from the Greenwich Village, with relaxing atmosphere, and of course, stylists with excellent techniques from Japan!

Went here for the first time today and had a great experience. My stylist Masumi was very helpful and took time to listen to what I was after. The shampoo experience was amazing — I got a lovely head massage during the shampoo that was very well done. My stylist made sure I was comfortable while she did my cut and we chatted as well. She was very helpful and talked about what we could do in the future with my hair — as this cut was a repair job from a previous bad cut. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back!

This is the greatest salon in NYC. You can get latest Japanese products and techniques. Staffs are very friendly and professional. Also the price are very reasonable for what you get. You can enjoy nice shampoo and massage, too. Masumi is my great stylist and good with communicating with English. But other staff are also top hair stylists in Tokyo. Strongly I recommend to try.

I found Garden through a few friend referrals and went for the first time this week. The salon is clean, nicely decorated and the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. My stylist was Shogu and while his English is spotty, his talent more than makes up for it. The manager translated what I wanted to him and I wasn’t worried for a bit. I left with a beautiful new hair color and was more than happy with the entire experience. The price was also very reasonable($ 95 for single process color) so I will definitely be back again. I highlight recommend garden, especially if you have Asian hair as they are Japanese owned and obviously experts at dealing with our dark straight hair. Go! You won’t be sorry.

Fantastic haircut and styling experience. I had a hair cut with Yoshiki Kono who was very attentive to my request and explained how long each step would take so I could sit back and relax without worrying what was going on. I have fine long hair and asked for a relaxed/soft layers cut(2 – 3 inches off). Great blow out at the end as well(asked for natural curls). Salon was clean, pleasant and relaxing. A touch of Japanese hairdressing in the heart of West Village.

Walked by this place and was stunned by the interior. I walked in and asked if they had anyone available at the moment but was out of luck. They took my number and promised to call if anyone canceled. Minutes after walking away, they called and let me know they could probably«squeeze me in» «Squeezing me in» included a very considerate consultation, warm and un-rushed service, the best shampoo I’ve ever gotten in my life, a delicious cup of earthy green tea, and not one but two separate massages. Kyoko(sp?) did an excellent job with my hair. I asked her to cut my hair to chin length. After some consideration, she suggested we cut it to shoulder length first, which she thought would be more flattering on me, then cut to chin length if I still wanted it. She was right — shoulder length looked beautiful. Best cut I’ve ever gotten in the city, including haircuts I’ve paid double this cost for. Can’t recommend highly enough. Wonderful, warm women who will do marvelous things to your hair and make you feel pampered throughout. And that’s if you’re just squeezed in. Imagine if you had an appointment!

Trying to get Garden Hair Salon in West Village to let me know if any of the former Yui stylists are still available and if not who they recommend. Left voicemail AND e-mail, and still no reply. I used to be at Yui 1-l2x/week for blow outs and every 8 – 10 weeks for cut and colour. Totally lost as to where to go since they changed over to Garden. If other Yui customers have any suggestions as to where they go, or if at Garden which stylists are most like Yui’s please share. Thank you!

Since my hair stylist moved away from NY9 months ago, I was in a long search for a hair salon, but I finally found my go-to place. Garden New York is cozy and welcoming with lots of green plants and Japanese hospitality. My stylist Naoko was very quick, efficient and skilful. I’m so happy that my search is over and I will definitely go back again!
