Service Is VERYSLOW. I Ordered Eggs Benedict Over An Hour Ago & I’m Still Waiting. The Cusomer Service Is Trash Too, None Of The Workers Checked To See If I Was OK.

This review is long overdue but here it is. Came here with two friends for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The place was not packed so we were seated right away. I had a GROUPON for two drinks, one appetizers and two entrées. We were not hungry and I did not know what to expect so we only ordered the shrimp ceviche, fried shrimp salad(I love shrimp if you haven’t noticed by now!) and the steak wrap. The presentation was great. We all loved the ceviche and the salad but the steak was a bit too dry and I would not recommend it. Portions are in the medium size range. My waiter was polite and attentive. And it did not bother me at all that he had asked if we had a voucher before we told him so. Really, why would some people get offended when asked? Specially funny when you really hold one!

I hate writing bad reviews, but this place was SO bad that I feel the need to warn people just how bad this place really is. First off, the service is pathetically slow. We arrived at 12:45, our party was complete and we ordered food by 1:10. While we were waiting we ordered some of the worse mimosa’s I’ve ever had. Seriously… how do you mess up OJ and Champagne? The first one had a splash of alcohol, the second one was boozy, and the third one… well…it was a glass of pineapple juice. Just how stupid do I look? Out of politeness, I chose not to make a scene. There were about 4 tables close by who were in the same boat. Just kind of staring at each other wondering how their entire afternoon could be wiped out by such an abysmal staff. It took an hour and 15 minutes to get an appetizer out. When 3 o’clock finally rolled around, I had about enough, left my friends some cash for my drinks and left. In all honesty, they could’ve comped the whole meal. I didn’t care. It was simply a waste of time. No explanation of why the food took so long. Nobody came to fill waters. Nobody offered another drink. Nothing. Twice, the other two people in our party were offered another round of drinks while my empty champagne flute sat there… The food was mediocre at best too… Thankfully I left because it apparently took another half hour to get the food out and then the«manager» came to the table with the check explaining the whole situation… It would have been nice if we were told about them being short staffed 2 hours before entrees came out. I work in the industry so maybe I might have been inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the way they went about addressing and handling problems was just irresponsible. Then they had the nerve to say that they«comped» two drinks and dropped a massive check on my friends without any apology for wasting their entire afternoon. It was a downright insulting experience from start to finish. Please, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. There are so many other places that are worth your money, and more importantly, your time. In short, these guys are a bunch of amateurs and it shows.

Wow… hipster to the max! Hubby, my son and I came here for brunch after purchasing a voucher. We shared the Chicken Hen Csear and Mexican Cock Fight to start. The Salad was okay but the chicken was really dry. I have to say, though, the Cock Fight was AWESOME! It is a dish of mini soft tacos. Two each of Beef, Chicken and Shrimp. The Shrimp Tacos, being my fave. For out entrees, hubby got the Sliced Steak Wrap which was tasty but the steak was difficult to bite because it is really stringy skirt steak. I had the Lox Special which is a basic sandwich of Smoked Nova, Cream Cheese, Red Onion and Capers on Focaccia Bread, which was a nice twist. I liked it a lot; nice alternative to the run-of-the-mill bagel. My son had the Proscuitto which is a Focaccia sanwich with procuitto and mozz. I take his word on how good it was(I don’t eat swine… lol). Since the voucher was for four people, we also shared the fourth meal which was the Creamy Mozz Omelet. It was probably the most basic-tasting dish and it was ok but I probably could have made a better one. All in all, the food was«okay». It wasn’t anything to go crazy over but it was good and we were satisfied. The service could have been a little better. We had a self-proclaimed, «new» girl and she was obviously having trouble dealing with all of the four tables that were there while we dines but we dealt with it and enjoyed our grub.

I have been waiting 50 minutes and still not gotten my simple appetizer. I would have left if we did not use a groupon. The service could not be worse and I normally don’t care too much about service, but this is a new low. TERRIBLESERVICEDONOTGOHEREUNLESSYOUAREWILLINGTOWAIT2HRSFORAVERAGEFOOD!!! While waiting for my food I had time to: Download Unilocal Make an account Write this review warning others Watch the first have of the jets game And many other things I can’t believe they are still in business I can’t wait to not tip them after I Finnish my food. It’s that bad.

An evening in the Village for $ 24?! ‘Went back 9÷26÷12 and this place really hit a home run. ‘Hung out all night, and had a great time. ‘Ordered the PEREXCICCATUSDELIGHT($ 11), again, and it was very good. It had prosciutto, tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh basil, with balsamic vinegar, on slices of toasted Italian bread. My date had the SHRIMPCEVICHE($ 13): shrimps, marinated in lime and lemon juice, served with tomato, jalapeño and cilantro. I was lucky enough to score a free parking spot over on West 9th. Now, because it was Happy Hour(2 drinks for the price of one) until 7:00 pm, our six beers(3 domestic, 3 imported) were only about $ 3.50 apiece. In the end, we spent $ 24, each, FORTHEWHOLEEVENING!

Gizzi’s is a rustic, cozy, but spacious(long) café /bar. Decked out in dark cherry oak furniture, the dimmed lights can give off a romantic feel. On one side is the bar + stools and comfy booths, while the other side has a bunch of casual, four person tables and a little stage for the gig. They serve everything from beers & wines(limited selection) to baked goods to higher-priced ‘fancy’ food e.g. burgers, steaks. Came here to support a friend’s gig. It was a great place, just a bit awkward with the european(russian?) music video of scantily clad girls dancing behind my friend and her acoutic guitar… Since it was pretty empty that night, none of her/our friends had any trouble getting seats. I only got drinks, but my friend got a salad that she enjoyed, albeit a bit overpriced($ 13). Overall, decent place to chill near NYU especially with live music, but the food & drink aren’t enough on their own to entice me to come back.

Came here with a groupon deal for brunch(seems like every other table in the restaurant is too). When we arrived at about 1245pm, there was only 1 table seated. This place is really dark and I would not suggest this place if you are looking for those bright, airy brunch places. We got a seat right next to the door and hence was not so bad. Food is decent… but nothing stands out. Too many brunch places in NYC and this is not a place I would be back for brunch again. Oh, we didn’t wait too long to be served, which I was worried about after reading all the reviews.

By the time you’ve wasted over TWO hours waiting for rather simple brunch food, you expect to be paid for your time, not to pay the bill. By the time you’ve wasted over two hours waiting, you expect the portions to be double the size, because you’ve spent two extra hours hungry. By the time you’ve wasted over two hours, it doesn’t matter if your food is good. In a pretty small and not over-stuffed by clientele restaurant, this is just unacceptable. The staff was nice but exasperated, and eventually turned people away by saying the kitchen is closed way before it was supposed to close, with several tables empty. Judging by other reviews, this was not the exceptionally bad day for them; it was a regular occurrence. We got extra wine and OJ on the house, but it didn’t help that the first time we heard«your entrees will be right out» was an hour before they actually were. To add insult to the injury, one of the dishes ordered was described in the menu as having poached eggs over grilled eggplant. Apparently two hours wasn’t enough time to grill the eggplant — poached eggs came seated on slices of raw tomatoes. Three words: Hire More Cooks!

Ambiance 4⁄5 Good chill place; nice place for a first date(slow service allows for ample time to talk) Jazz music playing Some cute artwork on the wall Service 1⁄5 –Excruciatingly slow waiter service(was about half an hour before we were served our appetizer, and over a full hour, and only after we asked about our meal, that we were served our entrees) — and its not like it was real busy either — there were only about 5 other parties there. Thought about leaving, and probably would have, if we hadn’t already used our groupon coupon –Its not like our server was rude or anything. He was friendly. He was just forgetful– at one time, he actually totally forgot to bring us the plates we asked for. Food 4⁄5 –Small, but good The crab cake could use some sauce. Was small, but tasted fresh and was good. Shrimp cerviche was basically just plain shrimp with salsa Steak wrap was really good Overall 2⁄5 If we didn’t use the groupon, I would really be pissed about how bad the service was. And the food would have been greatly overpriced as well. BUT With the groupon deal, the food was good enough that it’d be a nice place to come to. The service was SO-SOOOO bad though, that even with the groupon deal, I definitely would not come back.

Started out with so much promise… got a groupon for dinner for two that included some higher end fare in a place that looked classier than your average bar. The groupon was ending the next day so I won’t ding them as much on the speed of service given how busy it got. But I will mention the food. The Mexican Cock Fight was alright… the chicken was dry and the plate itself was missing a little flavoring. The rib eye steak I got for entrée… I think I’ve learned a lesson here… I think that will be the last steak I order from a non-steakhouse. I thought about it before I ordered but figured since 1⁄3rd of their menu involved steak and it was $ 23 dollars it couldn’t be THAT bad. It wasn’t bad per say… but it was thin, overcooked, and more importantly… made me better appreciate steakhouse quality meat. The price for the groupon was about right foe the quality. Wouldn’t go back if that’s what you get full fare.

Came to this restaurant thanks to groupon! Boy was it delish!!! Deal was for 4 people: 2 appetizers 4 entrees and 4 beers or wine. Atmosphere: place was a bit empty but the musician and the other party aside from us made the place pretty lively cheering on the entertainment. Food: appetizers were an order of Alaskan crab cakes served with lemon dill aoli and an order of Mexican cock fight which consists of 6 mini tacos of steak, chicken and shrimp(2 of each) served with pico de gallo. Crab cake was delicious! I only tried the steak taco which was pretty dn good, y friends said the rest were good as well. For dinner: I ordered the Meat supreme which was a rib eye steak served with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéedishrooms and spinach. Oooooowe!!! Meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked!!! The rest of the group ordered the Giant crawlers which were 3 jumbo shrimp served with grille lettuce which was also pretty good; and whoever thought of grilling lettuce good call t tasted pretty damn good! Next entrée is what’s called the Caucasian dream which is lamb chops served with cut fried potatoes, and lastly was an order of Hen tucked in which is a piece of grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella cheese melted on top served with mixed green salad and grilled cherry tomatoes! All in all every single one of us was happy with the food, service and entertainment. We’d definitely come back on our next tip to NY.

Cozy, wine-bar type atmosphere. Small café-style tables, some low sofas at the front. Tiny stage in the back… I was a bit apprehensive about the impending live music when I walked in, but both the groups that played during my visit were actually pretty decent, although I’m generally not a jazz fan. The volume was a bit much though… just a smidge lower would have made conversation a bit easier; this is a restaurant, not a nightclub. Biggest problem: there’s only one toilet. I waited for that toilet for at least 15 minutes. Three other people were waiting in line behind me. I asked the bartender if there was possibly an employees’ toilet I could use, or if maybe the toilet was locked shut with no one in it. He apologized, no other toilet, banged on the door… no response. Finally, the door opened… and it was a waitress. She had obviously been changing/fixing her hair and makeup in there. I got in, did my business, got out… and the waitress instantly ran back in(to do more primping, I assume!) … too bad for the guys who had impatiently been waiting to get in after me! I got the dinner special, with a pear salad and a steak wrap. Both were very good, though the salad was HUGE and the wrap was very small… it made for a bit of an unbalanced-feeling meal. The homemade pear dressing, which seemed to involve a lot of pureed pears, was excellent. I’d like the recipe! The house wine was inexpensively-priced, and decent, if not exceptional.

After my initial review, the owner of Gizzi’s reached out to me concerned about my experience.(Hooray for great customer service!) So tonight, I decided to give them another try to be fair and ordered the grilled lemon chicken with mozzarella and peppers. It was awesome — the sauce was really flavorful, the vegetables were fresh and the chicken was tender. The side salad that came with it was also very good a nice counter balance. This was a really good dish and I would definitely order it again!

Gizzi’s is just adorable. My former co-worker and I grabbed drinks there last Wednesday while a skilled DJ spun 80’s music and old school hip-hop. My drink was strong and the service was friendly, enjoying the music as much as we were. My only complaint is that the night(I think this is going to be a regular event for Gizzi’s on Wednesdays?) needed to be promoted better b/c it was pretty dead there. I would definitely return and have told ppl about it already.

With my D-Lite Things are more than right Party of two Where in his presence there is a warm sincerity that intertwine We meet We jive We ignite With my D-Lite Take it, our rendezvous long overdue, comforts me more than an open-mike Make it, our grief and hardships shared, not five stars Unilocal rated Shake it, we dispelled poison, not what you want to hear to date See it, the sincerity is visible in your eyes, where substance holds straight Feel it, a spoonful, where your always remarkable comfort surely saves me from another man Taste it, velvet rope, ooh so delightfully sweet JUICY! Live performances of music, singer/song writer conglomerate plus more… without the pesky bankrupt admission fees! Food is of good quality and good value. Without the added pressure to feel rushed or asked to leave when the performance stops adds sincerity where valued in today’s bitter cold world on a Thursday evening. N.B. The stage is very small space ergo performers need to make adjustments in their movements while performing. I would surely go for their Honey Bear(non-alcoholic) drink and of course their alcoholic drinks for a celebratory evening of merriment. The staff were very accomodating to prepare my sweet red velvet surprise for the birthday man of the hour with a candle– attentive yet snail slow service. On a last minute whim with special request, by my D-Lite, I finally had the pleasure to recite my poetry at Gizzi’s! There is space for small group to dance as I dazzle for a swinging night with my musicians/poetic men. Gizzi’s offers: * 10% discount to performers * Unilocal Check-In Discount to Unilocalers

I kinda enjoyed this place. I was here on a week night a couple of weeks ago pretty much by myself, but I heard it can be packed depending on what’s going on on the entertainment calendar. 3 musicians where alternating on stage, and the bar was quite empty… low key and peaceful. I had the skirt steak wrap with avocado and I throughly enjoyed. The wrap was spinach and herbs based, which I found original. The waiter was not happy that I didn’t order a drink and when he saw my scoutmob coupon, he face got even less friendly, but this is what I seem to get 50% of the time I use it.

I decided to come back here. Initially this was going to be a 4 Star review. I’ll explain to you how it got a 5 instead… So I decided to give this place another try. My first time wasn’t all that pleasant. I can see that the sign board was up and the Lox & Cream Cheese sounded good once again. I went in and asked if they had it. They said yes and I placed me order, paid and sat down. They have a lot of seating. From couches to love seats to chairs. I was the only one there so I was able to look around. it’s very clean and the place is decorated well. The place gives a relaxing vibe. I sat at the couch which had a coffee table. A few minutes later my order came and they gave me an Everything Bagel. I don’t remember saying which bagel I wanted, but I do like these. It was a bit hard, but I didn’t mind. I ate half of it and was reading the paper. The guy who served me the bagel came by with another one and apologized. He said that he gave me an old one cause they didn’t have any at the time. So he gave me a fresh one with Lox & Cream Cheese. He didn’t have to do that, but it was very professional of him. I had an awesome experience here and will be back again… This maybe my new hangout.

A nice little coffee shop with friendly staff and plays pretty good music. It’s warm and has free wifi so it’s a great way to get out of the cold. For what it’s worth they put cinnamon in my latte and it made a difference.
