Did this place close? There was a sign on the door pre Labor Day weekend saying they were renovating and that they’d be open the week after… it’s now mid-October. I know the parking lot next door was bought and they, just today, started construction on a new condo building… wondering if GS’s building was bought out for construction… Kind of bummed if so — we used them for catering at my office… everyone really enjoyed what they had to offer.

This review is for the BAR: EXCELLENTDRINKS, SERVICE, ANDATMOSPHERE: Great wine at a great price and AMAZINGCUCUMBERMARTINI(all fresh ingred w/Hendrix gin). Knowledgeable, honest, pleasant, and attentive but not pushy BARTENDER(woman on Tuesday eve) – even offered water regarless if I was going to order another drink. AIRY, CLEAN, ANDCASUAL(almost felt like I was in CA weirdly) with light wood bar and bartables, very spacious. Seems like a great place to meet friends for drinks to acutally TALK. ANDALSOFORTHEWAITERWHENWEMOVEDTOTHEBACK: Then, after enjoying drinks by myself at the bar, a group of 8 people showed up to meet me – some friends, some strangers, long story – and we got sat easily(again, this was a Tues, so I do *not recommend doing this on a weekend*). The MIRACLE is that not only did he(a young dude) NOTJUDGEUS for some of us neither eating or drinking at the table(again, long story) but also for EACHOFUSGETTING A SEPARATECHECK! If you’d never worked service: this is annoying, but the server was patient, accurate, and kind. The food looked good, but for the most part everyone had the kale salad, which looked fresh and large and we were more into our conversation than the food, so I can’t comment on that(when I’d showed up I’d downed a slice on the way, not knowing we’d eat there).

Worst. Steak. Ever. I dined here on a Saturday night and ordered the steak and fries as my entrée. As a steak lover, I prefer it grilled to a medium rare. First of all, when my steak arrived, the coloring of it looked as if it was cooked solely in the microwave. My steak was a uniform light brown color, lacking any sort of grill marks or crisp edges. Then, I cut my steak down the middle to check how well it was cooked. Apparently, at Greensquare Tavern, medium rare translates into medium well to well done. I was only able to eat roughly half of my entire steak because the other half was completely inedible. The entire top half of my steak was pure fat with about half an inch of a think tendon like strip connecting the fat to the rest of my steak. Even my steak knife was unable to saw through it! I had no choice but to cut this entire half away as garbage. Thinking back… I probably had better steaks at Outback Steakhouse for a third of the cost back when I was a poor college student. I will never come here again and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone either.

The first time I came here I was pretty impressed. The food was great and so was the service. I loved the fact that the menu is seasonal. That was about 1.5 years ago. I don’t know what has happened since then but this place sucks! Food: No taste! No scratch that. I ordered this pork dish and it tasted like sugar was poured all over it. Ugh Service: What service? We(bf and I) waited for 15 minutes for a menu. 100 years for appetizers. And a million for the sugar pork dish. Oh and drinks, what drinks? I’m pretty sure I had to flag down a number of people for my drink. What was crazy was that the people next to us had literally like three waiters servicing them. What the what. So yea I won’t be coming back for a while. Maybe in another 1.5 years.

Overall really good. Happy hour is nice, portions a bit small but rent near Flatiron is high. Definitely pass on the octopus appetizer if you dont want to be disappointed. I would suggest some larger portions to keep people coming back… its nice to have a farm to table place in Flatiron but the portions are so small sometimes. I want to come back but its getting a little old at this point. Sorry! Its still good, but they need to consider something to keep people coming back a little more. My posts from 2011 show my enthusiasm, but in 2014 Im wanting something a bit more. Hmmmmm…

Had dinner at GST my first night in NYC. I had the special which was salmon and greens. I live in the northwest and have had more salmon than I care to think about. Anyway, the salmon was tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection. The greens were fantastic too. My friend had a great meal too. The chocolate torte was superb. Our waitress was darling. no complaints:)

Can I give zero stars? This place was a massive disappointment. Service was SOO slow and clueless and the food was on par with diner food. Kale salad was a soggy tasteless mess. Here’s a suggestion — walk past this place and go 100 feet west to the nice Italian place a couple doors down. Don’t waste your time or money on this place.

Been meaning to go here for eons, and finally went with friends. We all enjoyed it. Great space, fresh food, Guinness on tap, what’s not to like? Since going a couple weeks ago for dinner, I ended up taking some colleagues for lunch. Another great spread! I’ll definitely be back again soon.

This is a great restaurant! the food is DELICIOUS! there are not alot of good restaurants in the immediate area which is why we chose it… and we are so glad we did! nice«wine by the glass» selection, varied small plates(sweet and sour short rib lettuce cups? to DIE for!!) and salads are portioned perfectly… small selection of entrees(approx 10) which, to me, is by far better than having a million choices. Curried Lentils were outstanding, as were the home made potato chips. I’ve been there a few times and have enjoyed everything i’ve ordered. which brings me to the great service — very attentive and knowledgable — TYRUS is a fantastic waiter! great personality and genuinely concerned about your experience. highly recommend… make sure you get a «side» of MAC N CHEESE. OMG!

OH. MY. GOD. So delicious. I love the farm-to-fork restaurant style, and I really do think that it makes a difference in how the food tastes. But it also makes a difference that this place is just freaking good at making delicious food. I was here for a catered event, so I can’t give a full description of prices/menu, but what we got was pretty delicious. I have looked at the prices online and it looks like dinner can be pretty expensive, but I would try it out for a nice lunch maybe. The appetizers we had at our event: Meatballs marinara — best. food. ever. Hummus, artichoke dip, feta dip — also delicious. So delicious. Popcorn — brushed with olive oil maybe? I’ve never had popcorn that’s this good. French fries — well, they’re french fries. But even those were pretty good, as far as fries go. I’m sure there was other food, but that’s what I remember off the top of my head. Beer selection isn’t the greatest ever — it’s more of a restaurant than a bar, so don’t plan to go here for the beer. They have a pretty fancy bar though, so it could be nice to sit for a drink before dinner. I definitely recommend this place for a fancy, delicious meal, but I’d expect to pay as much as you get.

I LOVE Greensquare for their fresh food and incredible attention to detail. We recently had a conference so I worked with Leon to cater lunch and he was awesome. Their presentation and service was so professional, it impressed our managers and our executives. I can’t wait to order from them again. Today, I went into the restaurant for lunch with colleagues and we ordered the greensquare cobb salad, organic mac and cheese, greensquare BLT, lancaster county chicken and creekstone ranch burger. The entire meal was delcious and the service was friendly and fast. I would highly recommend Greensquare to anyone for a meal or for their catering needs!

In New York for work, I googled farm to table restaurants in the city. This was one of the first options to pop-up. I was booking the day of and ABC Kitchen had no availability. So I decided to try this one. I had the Spinach salad(sans Feta) and Black Sea Bass for my meal. The salad was pretty good maybe just a bit too much dressing(though I tend to go fairly light with my salad dressings). But I thought the sea bass was just too salty. Also, after getting my salad the service was very slow the rest of the meal. Overall, I feel the meal was overpriced for what I received.

A great thing about this place is the atmosphere — it’s well lit, lots of wood décor, not too loud for having conversations with friends. The service was good, though towards the end we waited quite a while to get the attention of our waiter for the check. We went for brunch, and everyone loved their food — including the bread and marmalade served beforehand. Particular compliments were given to the bread used with the burgers and several of the breakfast items. All in all, a good experience(and we had a group of 8, which was no trouble at all for them — another plus.)

I had a very delicious brunch here with my parents yesterday. My mom and I split the eggs benny and the challah french toast, both of which were above average. We also started with a scrumptious bread basket that included a raspberry muffin with real raspberries. So. Good. The service was eh. We had a 12:15 reservation and had to wait about 12 minutes to be seated. I don’t like having to wait when I have a reservation, but it was worth it in this case.

What in the world? This review is for their Sunday brunch only, when they bring out the B team. Our friend works nearby to this farm to table restaurant and has had several lunches and dinners here, all of which he’s enjoyed. So on Sunday after church he suggested we come here for brunch. Everyone traipsed over together and we were seated in the back. The first thing we noticed? The place was COLD. They didn’t have the heat on! Instead they had a couple space heaters scattered around the room which didn’t help much. The waiter said some sort of vague thing about asking the building owners to turn on the heat — but it never happened throughout our entire brunch. Hubby got the eggs matthew(eggs benedict over kale instead of an english muffin). The potato/vegetable hash it came with was good, and I LOVED the organic ketchup. I ordered the yummy sounding french toast but found it disappointing. The description(Cinnamon Raisin Challah French Toast — egg, cream, vanilla, almond, pomegranate juice & cocoa) is much more mouth-watering than the actual dish. Would NOT recommend it. The portions are all on the smaller side, but I understand the higher price tag since it’s higher quality ingredients. What I DIDN’T understand was why we didn’t get the complimentary bread basket that we passed by multiple tables as we exited the restaurant. Sunday brunch FAIL.

Now that I’m working right across the street, I’m discovering all sorts of new places in the Flatiron area. Greensquare is one of the best so far. Hence the four stars. I see a wide range of reviews here, but my first(and only, thus far) visit was very nice. Our waitress was smiley and friendly. The space was open and bright(this was lunch, mind you). The food arrived quickly and was full of flavor. I had a special shrimp sandwich that isn’t on the menu, which was served on foccaia bread with tartar sauce. The accompanying fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The ketchup even tasted homemade. For dessert my date and I split a slice of peach pie topped with vanilla ice cream. I think it would have been better if the pie had been warm, but it was still very good. My biggest complaint about Greensquare Tavern would be the noise. There were several crying babies that was ear-piercingly annoying. I realize that a restaurant cannot control who pops in for a meal, but these little hellians definitely took away from my enjoyment of the experience. Hopefully on my next visit — and there will be a next visit — the joint will be kid free.

The Greensquare Tavern really hit a home run with me today as their place was buzzing with activity for lunch and yet, as a single diner, I found a comfortable place to be served. The warm greeting from my waitress of the last visit led me to the back of the place, which was glowing radiantly from the sky light above. With a new waiter for the section, I was very quickly served, having simply chosen at random from the easy to read menu. Friendly and informative, my waiter was clearly working at his best as the food procession seemed to move forward like a magic bus that was gaining more people every 15 minutes. When the Gazpacho was served, I marveled at its color and fine texture as I knew my iPhone couldn’t really capture its quality. That was a perfect way to start a casual lunch. On to the lightly roasted chicken with fries and greens, I took more time than I had with the red soup, and picked the item apart to find every nuance. It had been roasted well and retained structure when picked up with a fork. The fries were better than Wendy’s and the greens seemed to support the overall vision well enough. Finishing touches always make a good impression upon me, so I ventured into an American dessert honored by the Summer for generations: Peach pie with custard sauce and raspberry drops. Stunning, light, and accented well. With my posting here in support of my last visit, I suppose my favoritism is apparent and so is the little red pin marker on my iPhone’s map of NYC where the Greensquare Tavern has a marking, like a treasure on a fabled pirate’s map.

Bought the $ 25 for $ 40 deal on Unilocal. Came here on a rainy Thursday after work and I ended up really liking it. As I was waiting for a friend to be seated I was asked by 3 different staff members if I was being helped. They were super friendly and accommodating. The restaurant smelled good and I was hoping that would be an indicator the food would be good too. When we finally sat down we were serviced by Tyrus. He was very nice and eager to make recommendations. We started with the tuna, the avocado salad and then went for the Branzino special and a side of vegetables. Unfortunately, the appetizers were mediocre. I would not order either of them again. The tuna was very plain, it didn’t have much flavor. The avocado salad had a bit too much dressing and almost had a cole slaw consistency. However, the branzino was very good. It came with kale and rice. The presentation was beautiful and it was fresh fresh fresh. Tyrus hooked us up with the house wine and the bill with the discount came to $ 50– for 2 people. I would definitely go back! It was lovely.
