The pizzas were fresh and the crust was cooked to perfection. We had a plain pizza and a pizza with olives and pepperoni. Really enjoyed the pizzas and the flavors. The restaurant was very cute but small. Also, they only take cash so make sure you have cash on you! Would go back again to try something new.

Excellent pizza!!! We got a half plain half pepperoni and 3 of us with our little 2 year old nephew loved every bite! The pizza was so good the baby ate 2 slices. No frills and quick service. Thanks for a great meal!

Horrible customer service, and not a lot of value. The menu says: — no credit cards — no slices — no delivery — no reservations Alright, I visited in person and was planning on ordering two pizzas, so whatever. Still a bit weird. Then: — There were no «hot drinks», so no hot coffe, tea, etc., and it was 30f outside. Go figure. — We asked for extra cheese, and the pizza came with not much cheese at all. The olives tasted rotten. Getting worse… — I asked for a side of ranch, and he said«we don’t do that». I asked«don’t you have ranch for your salads», and he said«yeah, but only for the salads». He was smug about it and didn’t really seem to care to explain why. I’ve had customer service jobs before, and I always felt bad telling customers«no». You want to tell them«yes». Not Grimaldi’s.

I am an avid pizza eater, and I was absolutely excited to eat here. I ordered a small pizza with pepperoni, basil, and Sun dried tomatoes. It was great! The staff was friendly and helpful, and they even ran after me to give me my cellphone! Great place, just wish they accepted card too.

Totally delicious. I found this place as a top TEN pizza in NY. It was pretty empty when my party and I went in on a cold Tues. night — this was awesome! I’ve heard about the line in Brooklyn. It was nice not having a wait. The manager was very friendly and even let my party and I move to another table after getting a bit cold at a table by the window. The place began to crowd as we were there and it was still pretty roomy. When the pizza came out it was nice and fresh/warm. I also really liked that you can see where the pizza is being made. Anyway, the pizza we got was hall pepperoni and half extra cheese, and the only complaint was that the cheese was not very cheesy. It seemed more like grated parmesan cheese and another more hearty cheese would have worked possibly better. Finally, the only set back — no visa! Bring cash or borrow from your neighbor. Other than that, a fan.

Great pizza! Only downside is that they don’t accept Plastic. Much cheaper than Lombardi’s which was totally overhyped. There are a few Grimaldi’s locations.

While I am not a fan of cash only places(and of cash only places without an ATM in the premises) and generally prefer a pizza with a bit thicker of crust I do enjoy a thin crust pie from time to time. Based on the recommendation of my New Yorker friend we ended up at Grimaldi’s. We were able to get in with no wait on a Monday around 12:30. This place does not serve slices, but lucky for us we were meeting a cousin for a sit down lunch. The menu is pretty basic so we were able to put in an order quickly — a large regular pizza with pepperoni and sausage. The pizza came out fairly quickly and we were ready to dig in. 3 people were splitting this pizza which, when it came out, looked big but, with being such a thin crust, was no match for our appetites. Really, it felt more like a moderately-sized mid-day snack as opposed to a full meal. I thought the fresh mozzarella and the basil really made the pizza taste that much better and, while I would have liked more cheese on the pizza, they did not skimp on the other toppings. We left with a tab under $ 30 with tip which for good food isn’t too bad. While I’ll never be totally sold on thin crust pizza I am totally sold on Grimaldi’s.

I don’t get it. The crust is tough and the sauce isn’t anything special. The additional annoyance that it’s cash only and pricey to boot… We got half mushroom and half pepperoni. The pepperoni had a nice flavor but the mushrooms were bland. In hindsight, we probably should have mixed the two. Perhaps the BK location is better, but don’t feel a need to try this again anytime soon.

My wife and I ate here because we were walking by and I was like I’ve never had Grimaldi’s before because that line in Brooklyn always looked so damn long. I said why not give it a shot. I’ve never really been big on brick over pizza because I always felt like it was expensive compared to a delicious New York City style slice of pizza for $ 2.75. Here’s a pizza that’s like the size of 3 and a quarter slices and it cost almost 20 bucks. Well we were hungry that day so I bit the bullet. I’m happy to say that I was thoroughly pleased with the brick oven pizza that we shared. We got a margherita pizza with mushrooms and sausage, two of our favorite toppings. The crust was nice and crispy. The sauce was well balanced. The mozzarella tasted like quality cheese. This is now my standard for a brick oven pizza. Now just to be clear I still think brick oven pizza is a relatively expensive pizza. And a plain old pepperoni slice of New York style pizza still tastes better to me. This is just different and I appreciate it more. Also, we ordered the Caesar salad as an appetizer. I don’t know what type of Caesar dressing they used but it was like crack. We couldn’t stop eating it. The large think slices of parmesan cheese on top were also so much better than grated parmesan. You could taste the delicious saltiness in every bite. The salad was even over dressed but we didn’t care. We were glad it was over dressed. I wanted to lick the plate when it was finished.

The pizza is decent, though the sauce reminds me more of a watered down marinara. I ordered a large pie to takeout and they put it in A PAPERBAG. I kid you not. When asked for a box, they told me they didnt have anymore, while standing next to a stack of pizza boxes… are you kidding me? Pizza was cold by the time I got home, probably because the pizza was INPAPERBAG. Paper bag wasnt even thick, it was like those thin bags you use for greeting cards. Get your act together, youre not that good of a pizza to be messing around like that.

Great New York style pizza. We had no wait for three people around 7pm. We ordered the original with pepperoni and a white pizza with onions and mushrooms. The regular was my favorite. Huge slices, thin crust, hot and perfectly flavored sauce. Very cute inside and service is fast and friendly.

Awesome location, authentic pizza and great service! Coming to Grimaldi’s as a tourist from LA, I was pleasantly surprised by the yumminess and quality of their pizza. We got the marinara with mozzarella and mushrooms… So yummy! We also got their house salad, which was pretty good and light. I was so excited to come eat here once I found out that Frank Sinatra used to eat here too. Apparently they bring most of their ingredients from Italy, which helps with creating a more authentic Italiano vibe. I’ve never been to Italy, but I imagine that their pizza would taste a lot like Grimaldi’s. I definitely recommend this place to any pizza lover.

I don’t know what the rest of these people are talking about. The servers are a bit too familiar and seem to be enjoying themselves a bit too much. But the pizza is delicious at this little eatery. Most people seem to get take-out anyway. A «small» pizza is enough for 2 or 3 people… or just me, if you catch me on the right night. Anywoo, it’s absolutely wonderful. I won’t say it’s the best pizza in NYC(haven’t eaten enough yet) but from what I can tell it’s certainly on the short list.

My go-to pizza spot in New York! My boyfriend and I shared a small regular pizza. The base price is $ 18 but it adds up with each $ 2 topping. We loaded up our pizza with pepperoni, sausage, garlic and mushrooms. Their pizza also comes with basil already. The bottom of the pizza was somewhat burnt but still satisfying overall. I personally love thin crust pizza. A small pizza was more than enough for the two of us with about eight slices total. Not to mention, I ordered a caprese salad so we took home leftovers. The salad was pretty standard. The service here is to the point, not exactly warm but not rude either. Grimaldi’s is cash only too! I would return to Grimaldi’s, but I haven’t tried other pizza spots in New York so I can’t say that Grimaldi’s is the best in New York.

One of the best pizza places in NYC. They do not sell by the slice so you have to buy an entire pie and they are cash only. Their options are very simple but they are always worth it. We got the pepperoni pizza and it was delicious, it has fresh mozzarella and basil on it too. The sauce is the best part.

Wow, that’s some damn good pizza! I can definitely taste and appreciate the freshness of the ingredients along with the flavors exploding in my mouth. I’m not typically a fan of pizza but this impressed me. I’m coming back for more. 5 stars… why you might ask? 1. Pizza lives up to the hype 2. No wait. Walked in and was seated right away. 3. Friendly and quick service. Pizza came out in 10 – 15 minutes. 4. No issue in redeeming my Groupon voucher. 5. Bathroom was clean. I noticed while washing my hands prior to eating. Tip: You can split your pizza pie like I did. I ordered half regular and half white pizza. Toppings are extra $$ and I chose mushroom, extra garlic and extra mozzarella. Both kinds are really really good but I liked the regular slice a tad bit more. Cash only !

3.5 stars Pizzas here are good but not exceptional. We always end up full ’cause the pizzas are huge, but quality is not mind-blowing. It is a nice place to go to when you’re in the neighborhood and you feel like having some pizzas.

Had dinner here. Ordered a small with sausage and mushroom. Pretty sure there was some miscommunication, because that was the biggest small pizza I’ve ever seen, the check didn’t seem to think it was a small either. $ 23 for a 2 topping small and a drink? It was decent pizza. Definitely not the best in town. Service was ultra slow for the very small number of people that were there. They definitely have a weird curmudgeonly attitude thing going on. Cash only, no slices, no strollers, etc. Saw a woman asking how to transport two larges in the bags that they package the pizza in, one guy told her, that’s how we’ve been doing it for 100 years. Just because you’ve been doing something for 100 years, doesn’t mean it’s the best way to do something, or even mecessarily a good idea. So now, I’ve done the Grimaldi’s experience, I can move on to newer and better joints that don’t have shitty attitudes.

I’ve probably passed by Grimaldi’s dozens of times during the humid, sweaty summers in Brooklyn, but I could never lay my finger as to why tourists line up outside for hours just to get their«New York pizza fix.» I came here on Valentine’s Day with a few girlfriends after an anti-Valentine’s Day event at Eataly(yes, the irony) and saw this was in the area. I must say… for a household-named, family restaurant, the outside and inside didn’t give much of a welcoming aura. It was on the side of what used to be a church with its exteriors preserved, with a marketplace inside – which I always found to be sketchy. The inside is surprisingly very small and I can only imagine how crammed it can get on a busy day. Since we wanted something quick and cheap, the four of us opted for a Large Regular Pie with sausage added on half of the pie for an extra $ 2. I don’t know how I should really feel about the pizza, to be honest. It tasted like average pizza from my local pizza parlor – it was a little bit on the dry side, and it was overall thin. There wasn’t even that much sausage added and they were very small pieces. Overall, it was just an average experience and I can’t really understand the hype they get. Maybe its Brooklyn location is much better – maybe not. The menu was surprisingly very small and didn’t have much and the appetizers cost just as much as a large pie, if not more. Came to a little under $ 6 for each of us – 2 slices each, tax and tip included – which is pretty good for city pizza, but not at the top of my list.

My friend and I ordered a plain pie with sausage. I wanted to get the margherita but my friend heard marinara so our pie came without cheese. She couldn’t hear me because we came during dinner time and it was really packed/loud. It was still delicious and the crust/base was phenomenal. It’s definitely the best pizza I’ve had so far. A true New York pie. If a pie tastes good without the cheese, I could only imagine how good it tastes with cheese. We sat very close to the other patrons so if you want to have an intimate or private conversation over dinner, I wouldn’t recommend eating there. It’s more casual and a good place to go with family and friends.
