Grind

I rented out this space for my company for a off site videoconference meeting. I probably was the most annoying client they had over the course of 3 days but they were very patient and accomodating. Since my videoconference was International I wanted to conduct a test run to ensure that on the actual day there would not be too many glitches. I arrived the first morning at 7:45 a.m. and the receptonist was prepared for me. I did my test run and left. The second day actually was the day of the video confeencing and one again the receptionist were on point and very helpful. Although the space became crowded the noise did not have an impact on us in our conference room and vice versa from the outside listening to our videoconference. I loved that they had coffee, cucumber infused water, organic chocolate peanut butter cups (my fav) and cheese crackers. My boss was so impressed with the space that she wants to book our year end confence at this space.

It seemed too good be true. Great location, great price, flexible terms. However, after I joined I found that it was not to my liking. The space was often very crowded and I found that certain members would break the rules (spreading out their items, saving seats, using more than one seat, etc.). Interesting concept, but in my opinion it would work better in another type of city (e.g. Portland, Ore). NYC is too mean and too crowded for this type of thing. I went back to a more traditional office space. All that being said, the staff is friendly and the coffee they serve is out of this world.

I love Grind! The free coffee and tea is always awesome, the internet connection is stable and the staff are super nice!
The space really sparkles creativity and it’s a great, quiet yet active work environment with a lot of interesting individuals trying to make something out of their life.
In relation to the other Grind location in NYC, this one is more intimate and for some reason much easier to work with in my opinion.

Grind is one of the new generation of open workspaces, and it’s the best one I’ve been to.
There’s a certain vibe there and spirit of collaboration among the «Grindists,» as they’re called, and the energy and positivity is something you can sense when you’re there. It’s a very inspiring place to work.
There are comfortable office chairs, tables of different sizes and configurations, all with electrical outlets embedded, nice big windows that let loads of light in, and rocket-​fast internet connectivity. Sit anywhere that’s not occupied and move somewhere else later in the day, or the next day, whatever you like. They also have slightly more private «pods,» where you can have fewer visual distractions if that’s what you need. Conference rooms are available for booking as well, so it’s pretty complete as a workspace, soup to nuts. Intelligentsia coffee is on hand in quantity, included with the price of admission. You can just feel the brain cells multiplying as you drink it.
If you’re part of the new workforce of freelancers out there, building your own thing, Grind might be just the place for you. I recommend it highly.
